--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Jayden: [T] Hey, you. Marty James: [T] Hey man! What's going on?
Jayden: [T] Not much, I finished that project if you wanna go out for a cup of coffee?
Marty James: [T]Sounds great. Free now? Did you have a place in mind?
Jayden: [t] Have you ever been to Honeymead Market?
Marty James: [T] I'm sure I could find my way. When should I be there?
Jayden: [T]Great, when you get there, tell me and I'll direct you to the place.
Jayden: [T] Troubles finding the place?
Marty James: [T] I'm still a little new to the streets, but think I finally found it. Meet you inside.
Jayden: [T]Great! I'll order for us. Any particular way you like your coffee?
Marty James: [T] That would be great, I just drink it black.
Jayden: [T] Got it.
Marty James: *Marty would continue on his way along the sidewalk. Finally coming upon the shop and would wander in and glance around for Jayden.*
Jayden: Of course, Jayd had already made himself at home and was chatting up a pretty waitress when he saw the vaguely familiar face walk in. He raised a hand to draw the man's attention over, "Heya."
Marty James: *Marty would catch sight of Jayden, and head over to have a seat across from him. He would glance from the waitress and then back to Jayden as he held the play of a small smile.* "Sorry it took me so long to find the place."
Jayden: Jayd grinned and pointed out the cup of coffee for Marty, sipping his own. He gave a shrug of his shoulders in a typical, American fashion. Hands raised and all, "Don't worry about it. I was doing some work while waiting." He gestured to the laptop and cellphone laid out on the table.
Marty James: "Work hu?" He smirked before reaching for his coffee and having a sip. "What do I owe you? Or perhaps your next cup can me on me?" Marty was curious of many thing about people in general. At the moment he found himself wondering what sort of stuff Jayden was working on. "Work uh? Anything fun?"
Jayden: "If I intended to go dutch, I would have waited and made you order yourself." Jayd glanced down as his phone buzzed with a text from his thrall. A simple notice of the thrall going over details of the employee performances. Apparently the thrall would be making changes. Jayd didn't respond to the message and instead turned his attention to the man, turning the laptop so the man could see a bunch of technical and boring things, "I think it is." He turned the laptop back around.
Marty James: "Well, it's definitely appreciated." Shared as he gave a small raise of his mug before having another drink. As the laptop was turned in his direction, he would glance but could honestly not claim to know what any of it was. " That's all that matters really, that you enjoy it. I miss my old line of work, but working for Vel has not been all that bad. It's definitely different."
Jayden: "What did you use to do?" Jayd sipped at his coffee and his eyes lit when the woman returned with the food order. A large basket of chicken strips and curly fries. Jayd shoved the basket to the center of the table to show he was willing to share.
Marty James: "I traveled, took pictures, did interviews and those sort of things for a travel magazine. It's what brought me to the city actually. Funny how things work out." The last remark shared in light of having been turned. As the basket was pushed to the center of the table, an implication that it was free game, her would take a fry. "Thanks. So, what sort of work do you do Jayden?" He was honestly interested. Marty enjoyed getting to know new people.
Jayden: Jayd sniggered at the irony of the man's story. He shrugged as he gave his own answer, "I run three businesses. Working on the fourth. The first makes artificially intelligent robotic pets, the second focuses on helping girls feel confident in clothes of their own style choices, and the third is a mechanics shop that does customizations."
Marty James: The man definitely had a vast array of business ventures. It was definitely impressive. Marty doubted he could run business, let alone four. "What about the fourth? Have something in mind of what sort it will be yet?"
Jayden: Nodded, "It's almost completely worked out. Just some finishing technical details to deal with." Jayd reached out and snagged a chicken strip, munching on it with complacency.
Marty James: Marty gave a mod in response to the man's words, before having another drink. Part of him wishing the hot black liquid had something a little stronger in it. He was trying to cut back on such lately, though the urge was always strong, especially lately. " Must keep you awfully busy? "
Jayden: "Not really. I have a competent assistant. So competent he was off helping someone else with their business for quite awhile and I never even noticed his disappearance because he somehow managed to keep up with everything. I just don't like getting out much." Jayd grinned, sheepishly.
Marty James: "Understandable, though I wonder at times if perhaps I get out too much." So much lingered in those words. "Well, when you do get out, what sort of non work related things do you enjoy?"
Jayden: "The non-work related things I like don't include getting out either." He grinned, "I like to play video games." He finished his coffee and watched the woman refill it, "And you?"
Marty James: He thought a moment before answering. "I enjoy clubs, and some might say I have a small drinking problem, but I'm working on it. The loud setting can be nice at times, to get lost in the crowd and noise of it all." Not that he really had anyone telling him he had too, but his thrall sure complained about it often. That was possibly due to the fact of Marty being a small bad influence on the man in such. "I enjoy forging. Who knows, maybe with more practice it could turn into a profitable hobby. So video games? What types are your favorite? I have always been terrible at such games. '"
Jayden: "Mmm. Any, I guess? I like horror ones because I love horror movies." He thought on the club thing and shuddered. Club scenes were okay, but not really his dish.
Marty James: "Horror video games? Sounds interesting. I could never get the feel for maneuvering around some of the games I have tried. I guess if I played more often, it would be as tricky." Marty couldn't help but notice the man's reaction at the mention of clubs. He knew it wasn't everyone's thing. "I actually met my sire and her wife at a club. Well, I didn't know her wife was a woman at the time." It had just been an odd situation all around, but worked out in the end. "My kindness at times is often mistaken for flirting.... That got me in a little trouble with my sire, but it was all cleared up." Though Marty had nearly died that night.
Jayden: Chuckled a bit, "Which one is your sire? Mari is one of my workers. But I can't remember which is which for you."
Marty James: " Nishaa is my sire, though she thought I was trying to put the moves on Mari. It was Mari who saved me really, she was the only reason why Nis didn't kill me and turned me instead. I like to think that has passed now and that just maybe my sire likes me a little now. She's definitely not one I would ever want to cross intentionally." He would have a little more coffee and the the waitress would stop by only briefly to top off his cup. "What about you? I'm not sure I know your sire. I noticed you seem close with Every. I really like her alot, she's extremely nice, but looks to be the type that could be dangerous if she wanted to be."
Jayden: Jayd flinched, unintentionally. It was hard for his heart to not sink into his stomach at the mention of his sire given a vampiric curse he wasn't aware he had. "Ahm. My sire is.... ahm, my sire isn't really around much, yanno? You wouldn't know 'er. She was my childhood friend. I was actually the one who asked her to turn me. Yeah, Eve is great, she's a lot like a big sister. She looks out for me a lot."
Marty James: He suddenly felt like an *** for asking such a thing. Marty got the feeling it was a sensitive subject. "I'm sorry to hear that.." He truly was, and Marty could imagine not having his sire around, even if he didn't see her much. Marty felt he sort of had something to prove with Nis. He trained hard, all in hopes that she might never regret having turned him. "I'm glad you still have others, like Eve. Many of the blood seem really close, I like that. I grew up with a close family..." Marty missed them too, but knew he could never be around them really anymore.
Jayden: "Nah, it's all good, bro." Jayd grinned and snagged up a curly fry. Stuffing it between his lips. He smiled and nodded, "Yeah. Mom and Dad are there to. Dad says he doesn't like me, but I adore 'im. I dunno why, but despite his tough guy bravado... He makes me feel at ease. I'm not afraid to argue with him even though I know he's so much stronger. And mom is pretty good with talking me through things --Oh, mom and dad are Vel and Micah."
Marty James: He felt better with hearing the man's words. Though it was surprising to hear that Vel and Micah were his mother and father. Regardless, he was happy Jayden had them. "That's really cool. I honestly can't say I know them very well. Vel was kind enough to give me a job after I was turned, I definitely appreciated that."
Jayden: Grinned, "Don't let dad's tough guy bravado fool ya or scare ya off, okay? He always says he HATES Allurist but he's totally soft. He use to tell me he'd shoot me for calling him dad since he's my sire's birth father, but I haven't been shot and he puts up with it. And Vel is kinda like a tough-love kinda mom, but she helps me talk things out. Eve too. She helps me work through things and she's a fierce protector. I know some of the other familia if you have questions I might be able to answer. And if you have any questions in general... I might be able to help."
Marty James: "Thanks Jayden, I definitely appreciate it. Vampire life has been a little difficult at times to adjust to, but inclined to think it's going well." His eyes would linger alwa for a moment, as he thought about such things. Attention would shift right back to Jayden though. "I definitely got the idea that he didn't like Allurist. "
Jayden: Grinned. Jayden paused in his oncoming words when the waitress came back to see if either needed a refill. Wasn't a good idea to let people hear after all. "Rule one, is obviously keep quiet." He chuckled, "Yeah, Dad isn't a fan of Allurist. But, umh, subject change until we're somewhere more secluded, yeah?"
Marty James: "That's a good idea, that's something I'm still getting used to too." It was something he never realized would be so hard to hide at times. " So Jayden, you seeing anyone? I'm not, but my ex wife thinks that I am.... Well, I sort of told her I was. It just seemed to be a good explanation for why I wanted to move here." It had worked, she bought it, though lately the lie had gotten a little out of control. His grandmother had unleashed a mass amount of questions about the mystery woman when they had spoken last.
Jayden: Blinked at that question, taking a drink of his coffee. He shook his head, "Nah. I... don't think I've ever even HAD a girlfriend. Heh.... A lot of girls hang around me though? So I'm pretty awesome with girls, sorta." He grinned, sheepishly, "So gimme the whole story on that, yeah?"
Marty James: Never had a girlfriend? Had he at least been out on a date? Marty definitely wasn't going to ask such a thing. Though with Jaydens question, Marty felt compelled to vent. He didn't have very many that knew such things about him. " I have been married twice actually. With my first marriage, we rushed it. We had only known each other three months. We were young and in love, and I grew up in a family that valued marriage. I thought she was the woman I was going to spend my life with, though it didn't work out. With my second wife, it was different. My family loved her and they still are quite close."
Jayden: "Why'd ya leave 'er then?" Jayd blinked his curiosity piqued. He knew it was a nosey question, but at least nosey meant sincere curiosity.
Marty James: He figured the question would be asked, but he felt comfortable enough in telling the true reason, and not break down. He found Jayden was easy to talk to also. He seemed to be one not to judge. " She didn't want to be with me anymore. Sometimes things happen, that are no ones fault, but it can still drive a wedge between people. Marty still loved her, and knew part of him likely always would. Marty didn't take relationships lightly. He was not one for random hookups, he took being with a woman very seriously.
Jayden: Jayd rubbed the back of his neck, feeling bad, "Sorry. But umh, plenty of time to ease that ache and when you're ready -if you're ever ready, plenty of fish to jump back in the sea and catch, yanno, bud? No rush." He reached over and patted the other on the shoulder.
Marty James: "Thanks..... I know but it's just... I miss it. Just the whole idea of having a better half ya know." The pat on the shoulder was comforting, and Marty felt compelled to speak further. "Even if I do find someone one day, it could never be like what I lost with Grace." Why, because Marty could never have a family, a true family of his own. The child Grace had lost, would always stay in his thought forever.
Jayden: "It's not suppose to be like what you had with her. Each person brings something different to any type of relation. No friendship is the same, no romantic partnership is the same. Even if you date the same person twice because variables have changed since the first time. So it doesn't have to be like it was with Grace... It just... has to form its own working system." Jayd shrugged and sat back.
