Apparently esli is on someone's enemy list, so he's been attacked that way. Still, I'm curious as to why gids didn't jump to defend when shot, even with it being whatever those forms of attack are called. Ric jumped to doms defense first time, so does code not have that form of attack in it?
The AI won't have characters rush to defend allies who have been sentry attacked or retaliated against. Not only because the defender and the ally in question both need to have been offline for 15 minutes for it to be considered "offline" (and if you get sentries or retalled agained, you're online), but also because it just wouldn't be very fair. Retal and sentry are offline settings, so having allies hit offline people for automatically doing those things ... well, it's not too fair.

Unless I'm misunderstanding?

And d yes. Esli is on gids list. Of course
They are supposed to attack, if they did move to the square automatically. This could be a bug, yes. I was confused by the whole retaliation thing.

I'm confused by this. Could you elaborate. You mean some of esli's wounds were given by allies defending Doc? Or what?

Okay, yeah that did not happen. They just came to the square and didn't try or do anything. But, yeah, I understand the sentry/retal thing better now. thank you.

And no, only Doc gave wounds, both on sentry and actual initiated by the player to test the potential bugs and gideon did nothing.

Stepping out of the shadows, you lunge at Doc with your sword, but they are too fast for you, and your sword merely scratches their cheek. The wound closes up almost instantly. Blake attacked and wounded you in retaliation!

One more thing to add to this. So Esli roamed in again because well old habits die hard. This time Doc hit and that was expected but guess who else hit. Blake who just happens to be in vacation mode. This a thing that is supposed to happen? Buddies on vacation jumping in? Leaving the exotic locations and throwing down? :))
No, vacay mode shouldn't be using AI. But this does prove that the system is sometimes working as intended (other than the vacay thing). It's possible that all the other times they simply failed the roll to be fast enough to defend their ally?

Doc wrote:So this time Doc walked into Esli's square..

Esli 's AI attacked Doc. Doc is listed an enemy.
Doc's Ai auto-retaled
Then Cause Gid was there.. Doc attacked Esli again..
Except.. this time.. Esli didn't retaliate.. and neither did Gideon.. who is on Esli's ally list.

So.. something is broken.

Not really, no. You won't auto retaliate every time, and you won't always be fast enough to defend an ally. I'ts possible that it's a bug, but not absolutely.

There's one bug I see there though: Doc's AI shouldn't have auto-retaliated, because you were online.

Sorry for the mass posting. This is a very confusing thread, so let's focus on one issue at a time. First up: allies not defending their allies. We'll tackle everything else later.

Shall I try to split up this thread?

No worries. At this point it would be harder to follow if it was in multiple threads.

Has anyone else noticed it happen again since, where an ally moves into the same square but doesn't even attempt to attack?
