The day had started out par usual. She'd said a bit on the family crow areas, watched over her kiddos and realized she'd missed deathy on his way out again. Rubbing her eyes she thought about the few messes she had put herself into and muttered about ever being a vampire to begin with.
Stretching, she got dressed in her usual jeans and shirt, grabbed her pack and went out to haunt zombies or try to anyways. Lately her tolerance of others had begun to shorten. Whether it was family letting others hurt them and not defending themselves, or watching a kiddo get hurt by the one they love. She'd find herself halfway out the door, weapon in hand and not realize until somebody was givin her odd looks in the elevator.
If that had been all, she might have just chalked it up to normal moodyness and taken a vacation. But added to that was a sleepwalking she seemed to have picked up. Putting herself to bed in her apt and then waking up in the catacombs. Zombie parts surrounding her, bits of gore and blood clinging to pajamas while she stared like an idiot at the grey walls wondering how she had gotten there.
So killing zombies wasn't the end of the world, but doing it in her sleep had freaked her out a bit. She'd wanted to turn to someone, but Phoe finally seemed happy with life, E was busy with her work stuff, Mali, well that was a whole kettle of fish there, and deathy's schedule clashed with hers. She coulda called one of the kiddos up, goodness knew they stayed at her apt a lot, but in the end, she just didn't have the energy to bother someone else with her problems.
"Mebbe I'm just tired or somethin"
The words were muttered out as she left the Ivy Apt complex and started walking down the road. Blending in with the many humans simply because she looked so much like the typical grunge college student. Finding a wallet with a bit of cash just laying on the ground, she tucked it into her back pocket and kept walking. Pausing only to remember where the closet bank was.
Suddenly she was no longer on the street, but deep in the catacombs, again. Rubbing her eyes a mumbled "what the fu.." was let out as she looked around.
"Sleepwalkin is one thang..but day walkin..damn it"
This was muttered as she hurriedly brought out her gun and shot at the ugly *** rotting zombie that was makin its way to her. Shooting it through the head a couple of times, she silently thanked the fact that she'd come with her pack which had a **** ton of ammo of in it.
The weird lumbering steps of a mooncalf sounded. With a tired sigh she waited for it to make its appearance, shooting it carefully before taking out her skinning knife. Mooncalf pelts were actually quite nice and had randomly started collecting them. After a bit, blood coated her hands and arms as finished the precision work of cutting the skin off. Setting the carcass on fire, she shoved the skin into a carefully oiled bag and put it into a side pocket of her pack.
Standing up, grey eyes tried to determined her location. The stone was a darker grey, letting her know she was in the south catacombs. Taking wipes out of her bag, she wiped her hands off of blood and then threw the wipes into the still burning fire. Dodging more zombies and mooncalves, she made her way to the hidden entrance that led to the mausoleum. Once this was accomplished, she found an empty crypt area and sat down, back against the wall as she considered what had happened.
Happening once or twice could be nothing, but after the ups and downs she had with these shadow powers, there was the suspicion that her powers were acting up. But to determine that she needed some place more private and quiet then this. Getting up, she snagged her pack again and then made her tired way back to her apartment. Locking the doors and windows, she went into her and deathy's bedroom. Sitting at the little power place she had made herself from bones and different objects that meant a lot to her, grey eyes closed as she concentrated on seeing the shadows. She had never asked other shadows how it worked for them, she only knew that she had to focus and somehow through that her powers clicked on.
Grey eyes opened shining with black as she saw her shadows clinging to her. And then there was the two shadows that weren't hers. Even after all this time. Her head tilted confused as they seemed to have grown bigger since the last time she had checked. A tired sigh came out of her. The last time she'd ignored her instincts on her power, she'd gotten everybody mad at her and fucked **** up.
Better to be hasty on this then stupid. She had more kiddos now and she didn't want anything to happen to them. Concentrating more, she took out a knife and cut her wrist as she did the ritual for summoning spirits. Knowing it would drain her blood and power down to almost nothing. Surprisingly it only took her a few minutes to drain her blood and heal, wobbling as she tried to stand up, she grabbed one of her lesser guns and then managed to wobble outside the apartment door before she paused to get her bearings. Taking her phone out, she knew she better text one of the kiddos to make sure what she did next wouldn't get her or the smuck she was gonna attack in trouble.
Ten or twenty minutes later she found her way to the door of Ivy Bluffs and had picked a random woman walking by to shoot at it. Deliberately missing her but making it clear she was after her. Her fingers rapidly typed on the phone to Enver.
"Now boyo, I'm randomly fightin some chick I found. Gonna let her send me to the SR. Reason why is cause my powers are actin up again and last time this happened I ended up makin the family mad at me. So Im sendin myself after a good fight to the SR to get rid of these pesky SR shadows that been clingin ta me. Love ya. Tell the family I love em to and Ill be back in a bit. Oh and don't be killin the chickie. She just obliged me for a fight. Wasn't her fault."
The phone beeped at her as he replied quickly back. Shooting a few more times and feeling the bullets slide into her pelvic area and shoulder, she ducked down behind one of the houses so she could read what he had said and replied. She didn't want her kiddos freaked out about this. .
No. What chick? Riv's you don't have to die to fix your problems. Think about it before you do something stupid.
Her reply was simple as the woman missed her head barely and fingers quickly somehow typed out the next message.
No Gonna let my powers get fucked up again, Love ya boyo and don't be upset
Standing up, she heard one last beep but shot the woman once or twice more to ensure she would finish the job. Feeling a few more bullets slide into her, she could feel her shadows pulling her to the shadow realm and looked down at the phone as willpower alone let her hit the button to see the reply.
Yeah. Sure.
A smile caressed her face as her eyes closed, that was her moody starlet. She knew she would have to apologize to him later for this..but the reply was so him that it comforted her as she let the shadows claim her to the shadow realm for now.
