Gifts from Smithy - Open (Chapter 9 part 2)

Post by Corbin »

ooc note: Will be keeping Corbin around the Corvidae Flats. If you post here using the Support Tremblay tag, we can arrange to meet up at CF on the grid to pass weapons. Or If you are sitting with Corbin when I get on and I see you have posted here, then I will pass over a free gun & sword. Ranging from 18,17,9 to 15,15,9. Best quality stuff will be handed out first. One set of weapons per player/character.
*Word is a vampire with wings like an angel has been hanging around the Corvidae Flats. If you tell him you are voting for Jamie Tremblay he will give you a pair of free weapons! *
Hanging around the ground floor of the flats, Corbin Belcourt had a seat at the bar. He wore a vote for Tremblay shirt. The short sleeve t had been altered, allowing room for the large pair of white feathered wings on his back. The feathery accessories were an adjustment to deal with. At this point he had given up on hiding what he was. Why bother? With the approaching election, Corbin had been at a loss for how to get the word out, for people to vote. Politics had never been his thing, but this felt an important issue for his kind. Depending on the outcome, things were to get better or worse for the vampires of Harper Rock.

Deciding he would stick to what he was good at, making weapons and finding them a good home. In this case, it was for those throwing support towards Tremblay. A large organized bag sat near his feet, filled with an assortment of swords, knives and guns. He was not at the bar for long, before a familiar face approached. Zaylee, Aviana's thrall came up behind him. Her hands were playing over the feathers. " I had to see it for myself! Why check you out! I'm voting for Tremblay, where's my free stuff?! " Shared before leaning over, to press a kiss to the man's cheek. Moving to sit next to him.

" Z! Always good to see you my dear. What do you need new weapons for? Surely Avi has set you up with something nice. Let's see that gun you have. " The woman handed over her sidearm, and right away Corbin knew it was one of his own making. Looking the handgun over, he hands it back as he speaks. " Doesn't even look like it has been used! " He teased, before looking through his bag to pull out a shortblade. " Oh that's pretty? " Reaching for it, Corbin hands it over with a warning. " Now be careful, it's sharp! " Fussing, as the human took hold of the blade, with what looked to be unsure hands.

``Do you even know how to use something like that? " He teased her, as he often did. A grin wide upon his lips. The two had grown closer, since the thrall played go between Avi and himself. He and his best friend had been fighting over his choice to sire a Paladin. Not like he had set out with the intent, but held no regret over his actions. This eventually led to the two coming to an agreement to look past the situation; for now. What was done was done in the end.

" Yes, I do! Avi taught me a great deal." This seemed to satisfy his doubts. Oddly Aviana had never been a fighter when he knew her in the past. When they crossed paths again he learned a great deal had changed about her. Z tucks the short blade away within her overly large purse, before leaning in against the bar. " Well, are you going to buy me a drink or what? " Laughing, Corbin turned to the bartender. " A glass of red for the lady, please and thank you. " His attention returned to Z, as she accepted her drink. " Thank you! Now tell me, you really think people will vote for Tremblay, just because you give them free weapons? " Sipping her drink, her eyes linger with Corbin as he shrugs. " I don't know? But I have to do something. Everyone loves free stuff?! " The two chat a little more, but when Z finishes her drink she wishes him luck before heading out. Leaving Corbin alone at the bar.

The phone chimed again as he pulled it from his jeans pocket and read the texts. 'The rumors are true.’ followed by ‘Looks like Corbin too’ were the texts from the thrall he had sent to check it out. It was an easy decision as he looked around the all too quiet room, he quickly replied ‘Be there shortly.’ as he stood up and retrieved one of his best blades from the all to small collection of weapons in his cabinet. He tucked the favored .308 under an arm doubting he needed it but choosing to take it just in case, handing out weapons to the wrong people sounded like it may be a little risky.

It was a short trip across town as he entered the lobby. Standing just inside the entrance he took it all in. Corbin stood at the bar and was really hard to miss now, the man really looked about as he always did except for the large feathery wings that had sprouted. The woman next to him was someone he recognized, he had met her once or twice before but didn’t really know much about her. He smiled politely as she passed him, her on her way out and him as he made his way to the bar.

He ordered them both a tequila from the bartender, he knew he needed one at the moment. “Nice look you have going on there, suits you well and barely noticeable too.” Chuckling he looked over at Corbin half wondering if it was too soon to joke about or not. “Honestly though, it is an impressive sight and maybe a little intimidating too.” Following the wings down toward the floor, he glances down into the bag below, the weapons looked to be of good quality not that he expected anything less from the other Allurist but the bag was still way too full. Was it still early or was Tremblay that unpopular in the city?

Supporting Tremblay I see and I couldn’t agree with you more. She would have my vote if I was allowed to vote. I even quit using the trains some time ago because of all the checkpoints all over town but I'm getting used to it even though I pass for a human much easier these days. Still don’t want to risk it but it would be convenient though. So are you actually handing those out to people for the promise of a Tremblay vote?” Not entirely sure if it was a great idea or not but the vampire was trying and who knows if it would work or not. It was more than he had done in some time and he knew it.

As Chance approaches, Corbin greets the man with a friendly smile. " Chance! Good to see you my friend! What's new with you? " Laughing as he caught his words. The wings were hard to miss, and he knew it; he just gave up on trying to hide them. Life had definitely become difficult with his newly acquired appendages. " I'm working on my try out to be one of the Victoria Secrets Angels! " Laughing loudly at his own lame joke, that he had already used a time or two. A grin of amusement lingering with him, as he speaks on. " I may have made a scene at a local pub recently, when they decided to rip out. So far, no luck shifting them away... If anything I'm all set for Halloween this year. " Still making light of his situation.

As the other vampire spoke on, Corbin was curious and quick to question. " Why can't you vote? Are vampires not allowed to vote? " This was something he had never considered. He himself had a fake id, but was not passing for human anytime soon with his current feathered style. " Not sure if my bribes will convince anyone to vote for Tremblay, but it is worth a try. If anything, more of the city will be armed to take on things like zombies. Not many takers yet. Maybe I should have gone with a jewelry give away…" Joking, but knew a gift of jewels had a way of persuading people also. Had definitely gotten him out of trouble a time or two.

" Even if you don't vote, I can toss some free weapons your way anytime. Call it the family/friends discount! " His tone is serious. A hope that Chance knew he held him in high regard. The vampire had gotten him out of trouble a time or two. Not to mention he was a decent partner to have your back in a fight. " I want to vote, so hopefully I can figure out these wings before then. " Said as the bartender handed each of them a shot of tequila. " Thanks for the drink! " With words of thanks, he takes down the drink before setting down the empty. " Next one's on me! " Ordering another round from the bartender, Corbin's attention shifts back to the man beside him.

" So tell me Chance, how have you been? Also, enlighten me on what type of weapons you like to use. Surely I have something on hand you might like. " Asked, as the bartender handed over another shot, but he didn't drink it right away. " Would love to hear any ideas you might have on how to persuade more to vote for Tremblay. I know many vampires hold the power of persuasion. Like how I can talk most shop owners around town into giving me a discount. But would it be taking things too far, to use that power for political reasons? "
