We're working on the tutorial system to dilute the information overload problem we currently have with it.
We realised that new players just want to get to grips with the basics to start with. As such, we've removed the parts of the tutorial talking about hacking, burglaries, the auction, crafting and rituals. Our hope is that newbies will feel less overwhelmed from the tutorial, so more will hopefully stick around.
Due to the fact that the tutorial now has 5 less total tasks, we've boosted the energy you gain from completing each task from 50 to 70.
Over the coming month or two we're going to be adding in little mini tutorials when players first attempt a new skill such as hacking. These will be one or two pop ups briefly explaining (with pictures) what they should do, and giving them some tools to help them try.
Additionally, the plan is to have a pop up when you first exit the tutorial hub, which directs newbies to one of the initial PVE "hunting areas", and also links them to a wiki page with all hunting areas and their recommended levels listed. At level 15 or 20, we also want a pop up to show which introduces them to the idea that there are other systems such as crafting and assassinations out there, and lets them know that when they first attempt one of these skills they'll get further instruction.
We're fairly confident that this bread crumb style of teaching new players will also give them direction and purpose, keep their interest longer, and keep them coming back a little bit longer.
