Today was an extra interesting day. Her abilities were growing, feral vampires were becoming pieces of cake. The quarantine zone would soon become little but a scavenging ground of sorts when she was tired of doing anything else. She'd also been attempting to experiment with alternative weapons. Macy still had the large sword across her back and a Glock by her side. The night may be where vampires rule, but it was a most convenient time for Macy to do her hunting. Figuring out just who was a good target and who was not. She'd be ready to kill them all if she could, but that was far beyond her abilities.

A strange noise caught her attention, was that...chanting. Her eyes narrowed towards a facility nearby. It was rundown, not quite in shambles though. It was large, and the sound was doubtlessly echoing. She looked around and pulled her sword out, starting to walk in. The echoing continued. Alright, what was that? She had interacted with some vampires that seemed to chant for some reason before using their abilities, but she'd also heard about rituals, which was something humans could do she thought. And there were sorcerers who...well she had no idea if they did chanting or not, except when it involved paladins at least.

She leaned against a wall, looking around a corner too see an open door leading down. This seemed wrong. The timing was too perfect, was it a trap? Why? Was it even for her though? Should she rush or take care? Try and disrupt what they were doing and risk that it's a trap, or go slowly to avoid a trap but risk that whatever they're doing will be completed when she gets there.

"This is really not my area." she said slamming an elbow into a wall and causing it to crack before starting to walk towards the basement sword at the ready.

There’s always been a certain air of mystique that surround the rich. It’s like walking through the fog on a late winter evening; the ground uncovering with each daring step and not knowing what could be there. It’s potluck dealing with their sort because sometimes that ground is covered in dog ****, sometimes it’s a nice tuft of grass, and sometimes there is a bright, sparkling sapphire earring to be found. There are some occasions that require a little digging before the gems are unearthed, however. Tonight’s job happens to be on one of those rich bugger’s properties; an abandoned facility by all accounts, one that is left waiting on refurbishment. Sullivan previously overheard that when the place was bought over, the owner discovered that gangs had been using the place as a meeting point and apparently, a few of their belongings were still just sitting around.

So he probably isn’t likely to find a dazzling pair of sapphire earrings in an ex-gang hideout, but that didn’t mean there weren’t other valuables to be had.

Logically it’s a stupid place to burgle. The facility sits, abandoned, on the outskirts of the city, with a long trip through brambles and deep thickets. It’s like marching through a jungle just to approach a safe entrance to the building; with safety being measured in cuts from broken windows and various other debris, along with a number of broken bones that could be suffered by falling through the tired floorboards. Torch in hand, Sullivan steps carefully through the ground floor and begins his search.

There is so much open space and practically nowhere to hide and blend, no easy lies, and just your own ability to hide and sneak. There are marks that could be considered just as rich as this one, but that is getting harder and harder for Sullivan to imagine. These days, it’s like every street has cops and private security to spare, as if they’d been bought at the 99c store. It isn’t worth the hassle to pilfer from the rich and gang violence brought its own risk that he just didn’t want to deal with. That leaves him with abandoned buildings like this one, rumoured riches that are just waiting to be pocketed. That thought puts a wry grin on his whiskered face as he descends into the basement.

Damn. This would probably be the best haul Sullivan would have in a while, even if the rumours were skewed. Past crates, drum barrels, and some scrapped metal, is a large stone box. It sits pretty much in the middle of the room, rectangular in shape, about waist height, and looks like some kind of concrete sarcophagus. As he approaches, his torch light flows over the etchings framing the surface of the strange object. They don’t look like any kind of language he’s seen before, reminding him of hieroglyphs in Egypt. In the centre of the creepy box, Sullivan notices that the surface bows inward and directly in the middle is a hole. He leans closer for a closer look, angles the torchlight to reveal the depth and whatever contents there could be. In his focus, he’s stopped listening for the most important thing - someone approaching.

The door from the ground floor is pushed open. Sullivan snaps to duck into the darkness among the other clutter in the basement room, turning the flashlight off and dropping it into the pocket of his biker jacket. He’s quick enough to be in a comfortable hiding spot before he hears the footsteps of a crowd. This could get ugly if they spot him, but as the crowd descend the stairs, it seems that their attention is drawn entirely to the stone structure. Four figures take up a spot around it, one at each point of the compass, before they begin chanting. Sullivan can hardly believe what he’s seeing and hearing, but it’s not long before his surprise is punctuated with the tremble of the building and more feet come rushing down those gloomy steps...

The chanting continued and Macy took in a deep breath, "Screw it!" she said practically leaping down the stairs at a time feeling them creak under her feet and wondering if they'd collapse because of her hasty leaps. Finally her feet planted on the ground and she saw the cloaked individuals who turned in response, she held up the sword her eyes landing on one of theirs. Her face morphed into a smile as she recognized it,"Vampires." she muttered leaning her head forwards. They looked at each other, paladin they all knew at once. And she was clearly here for blood. The thing was, they outnumbered her. They looked at each other, drawing various weapons of their own. That's way too many. This is going to be extremely tricky. she thought. She could take out ancient zombies, feral vampires, even a lot of those sewer dwellers, with little issue. But this was a good few of them. She was going to have to force this into one on one combat.

Macy leapt to the side suddenly throwing a noise maker at one of them who assumed it was some kind of weapon and tried to leap out of the way, just in time for her to take on the blade of one of them and then deliver a serious of vicious strikes in return. She started moving around the room, trying to attack one at a time while dodging the others. That was no easy feat. And she could feel herself realizing just how bad of an idea this was. But maybe if she could just go after one really fast and ignore the others, she could make it. She leapt for one of the ones farther away from the group, one that happened to be nearer to Sullivans hiding place, hoping to take it out quickly so the others had less to rely on.

For a moment, Sullivan believes that a fifth member is about to join the chanting foursome and summon some unholy creature into the world, but the brunette comes swinging instead. Whatever beef this group has with the woman isn’t for Sullivan to judge, but he does calculate her odds of survival against four vampires and it doesn’t look good. She chucks some sort of device as a distraction and clashes swords with one of the robed figures. In seconds she’s struck what would have been a fatal wound, but the immortal only retreats from the blow seeming slightly injured. She pushes for the centre of the crowd and from his hiding spot, Sullivan feels like her odds of survival have just plummeted. He shakes his head, gritting his teeth together.

This fight really hasn’t got anything to do with him. There’s no telling whether the woman won’t just attack him on sight and at the same time, he doesn’t like the idea of facing those vampires alone either. Sullivan isn’t the indecisive type; he makes his choice as she advances on another vampire - the one with its back currently to Sullivan.

There is a certain intimacy involved in taking up arms against an enemy and Sullivan can see the anger in her swings. The rage-soaked steel sings as she strikes again. It’s been a long time since he’s felt anything with such genuineness. Coldly, he reaches inside his jacket for his pistol. He stands, presses the snubbed nose of his gun against the back of the creature’s head and pulls the trigger. He doesn’t think he can possibly miss from this point-black range, but he’s ready to follow up the shot with a few more. Each bullet lights up the darkness and their movements strobe over his eyes as he comes out from hiding. He gives the girl a look and a nod, hoping she understands he’s on her side and rallies to face their opponents two vs. four.

This one she might be able to take down. But she knew she'd be behind the moment the next ones came around...and then another person appeared, with a gun. At first her mind told her to duck, until she realized where the barrel was aimed. With a blast, blowing through the creatures head. Her eyes light up as she looks and realizes he is, quite fortunately, not a vampire himself. That was going to make things ever so much easier. He nodded towards her and she smiled returning it quickly before having to turn, the blade very barely blocking that of another one forcing her backwards.

Macy looked into the vampires eyes as she gripped onto their sword handle, "You are so screwed now." she said slipping one leg behind him in his confusion and shoving back as hard as she could forcing him against the ground, managing to pull out her gun as she fell with him and pulling the trigger against his side. Licking her lips with a smile. The shock caused the vampire to lose his grip and she dropped the gun grabbing the vampires own blade and shoving it against his throat pushing and sliding it cutting deep enough that even if he could get back up he wouldn't be able to see anything. And that blood loss was going to get him soon enough.

She just hoped none of the others jumped her before she could get up, trying to grab her own pistol as she was doing so and trying to push herself against a wall again instead of actually standing straight up as it'd be much faster and let her prepare again. Hopefully that new friend hadn't gotten in too much trouble in those split seconds she was dealing with that next one. Though, to be fair, at best there were two others, one already injured somewhat, and who had no idea he was there until now she assumed. So chances were good for him.

Sullivan doesn't miss his shot. With the muzzle of the gun being pressed against the back of the vampire's head, added to Mason's distraction and the surprise attack, the bullet hits its mark and buries deep into the vampire's skull. The explosion out the other end makes a sickening sound and he's glad he can only imagine what undead brain matter looks like as it comes spurting out. The vampire drops to the floor with a heavy thud and while Sullivan doesn't know if he's met his second death, he wastes no more time thinking about it.

And then there is three. Or two. Sullivan can't spot the first one that was attacked. It is dark in the basement, but not so dark that he wouldn't have a sense of where those bodies were moving; the vampire has just vanished. He fires toward the other vampire as Mason takes on the last. It looks like they are equally matched - or at least as equally matched as these two Paladins can be facing super powered immortals. His bullets, however, hit nothing but the concrete walls as the vampire darts forward; zig-zagging to close the gap. Before he can blink she's in his personal space. The white of her eyes burn brightly around dark pupils which appear like big black holes in the centre of her face. She snarls at him. He hesitates. Her hand wraps around the muzzle of the gun and snaps it out of his grip; damn near breaking his wrist in the process. Then all the wind is suddenly knocked out of his sails when she strikes him in the chest with an open palm. He's sent flying over several feet until the stone box breaks his fall.

The pain he feels in his spine and the back of his ribs makes his teeth knit together, his eyes seal shut, and his head fall forward. He can barely breathe and coughs a number of times just trying to get the oxygen to circulate again. There are stars in his vision and cotton wool in his ears. There's a burning ache in his left arm too, but he can't surrender to his injuries. Slowly but surely and with his fingers twitching in pain, Sullivan reaches for his last line of defence as the sound of footsteps approach.

“What are you doing?” the vampire murmurs as she advances; her heeled boots counting down his fate.

Sullivan doesn’t answer. His fist closes around the handle of his hunting knife. His eyes remain closed, his head down, he focuses on blessing the blade; those foreign runes in his skin start to glow under his clothing.

“Rude,” she grumbles. “Fine. Well then, I guess I’ll just kill you now and then your girlfriend is next.”

At this point, Mason has just dispatched the other vampire and is pushing herself off the wall into a standing position. The vampiress pays her no mind, her black eyes are fixed to Sullivan. She stops inches away from his outstretched legs and gives one of his boots a kick. In the corner of his eye, he can make out the silhouette of her towering form and the glint of moonlight reflecting off of several sharp points. At first it looks as though she has grabbed a whole drawer full of knives, but Sullivan soon discovers that these metallic spikes are growing out of her fingers as she makes to strike at him. He waits as those razor sharp claws come screaming toward him and draws his blade, ready to counter-attack. Sullivan parries expertly before lodging the entire blade of his knife into the vampire’s chest. She squeaks with surprise then barrells backward; she doesn’t notice how close she’s stepped to Mason.

As Macy gathered herself she saw the vampire approaching, but she also noticed a slight glow, well that was indeed a very good sign. She didn't have as much time to act herself, if she did, she might have gotten behind her and tried to cut her head off from there. But his actions were perfect, he stabbed the vampire to the robed ones surprise and she stumbled back. Right next to Macy.

The smile of violence glowed onto her face and even as the vampire was coming backwards, Macy's sword was up and swinging, a long swing she knew wouldn't be dodged with the instability and timing of her target. She locked eyes for that moment, the sense of murderous joy apparent in Macy's eyes to someone who knew what was coming but no longer able to stop it because they were still clutching at the wound on their chest. It swung, blood sprayed, and a head rolled across the floor as the body crumpled to the ground.

She looked at the body and kicked it, for about no reason really. was there anyone left? Four, first one down, second one she took on, third one he took on. Perhaps the first one had already perished by now, she did sometimes get them in the first strike even if it wasn't too often. But she doubted they were brave enough to take on two paladins after that.

Macy's eyes glanced around the room narrowing just in case she saw movement, she wanted to get back into the light just in case. But she also wanted to greet, and thank, the one who helped her survive that. She turned to face him and smiled taking a good two steps forwards and holding out a hand before clenching it and looking at the blood across it to pull it back, "Thank you so much, I...may have a tendency to get...a little too involved when I catch undead scheming. The names Macy by the way. Really, very grateful, I'm fairly certain that was going to be an extremely difficult fight otherwise and I'm not entirely certain on the result fo it."
