I have no idea if it's feasible on this board, but--
On many of the other platforms I roleplay on there is an option to mention people via adding @username within posts. This is commonly used when posting starters or replying to things (especially after a while) or even allowing players to bring the attention of other players to certain threads (if you know x person would be keen or was looking for some plot being suggested).
I know proboards uses this format, and I have to admit that it makes it easier to track things since you have all your mentions in one spot. New players can be tagged in welcome posts on private / specific boards, or when someone responds to an inquiry with 'x person can help' -- x person will get the @username mention and be able to check in / others can click on the username and go directly to the profile and message them (rather than hunt the non-accessible member list).
