Julius - The Legacy

It was supposed to be just another day on the job. Just another day serving the people of Harper Rock. Ensuring everyone was safely sleeping as I patrolled the streets with my partner David.
We joined the force in December 2002. It was a cold winter that year. I remember running in the morning on the slighted frosted grass of the sports compound in the academy as the cold filled my chest at every breath. Everything was slightly covered by a white mantle as the sun shined its first warm rays of the morning. I still remember its soft warm touch in my face.
It was a cold winter that year, but not as cold as the night that chanced everything… not even close.
I remember we were passing by the Necropolis Nightclub, a downtown gothic chapel turned nightclub, as we received a dispatch from central. It was about a burglary happening just a few blocks away.
As we reached the spot we quickly spotted the burglars. There were two males, military boots, black jeans, black wool blazers and both wearing ski masks. One of them carried a gun and the other a crowbar. They were inside the shop trying to get every penny they could out of the cash register.
They didn’t notice we were there so we immediately took cover and tried to surprise them. As the action started we tried to make them comply by lying on the floor but didn’t happen. They just jumped over the balcony and the one with the gun started shooting at us.
That’s when the things turned unreal.
I already had heard rumors of impossible things happening in town, like monsters, vampires, people with unbelievable strength but never bought the ticket to the show. I just thought it was the mind of people trying to justify things they miss eared or saw. How wrong I was in that cold, cold night…
