Not Going Back! (OPEN)

Post by Nimrod »

Nimrod had kept to himself for the longest time. He kept himself entertained but there were times he was lonely as he hadn’t talked to anyone in a long time. He couldn’t find them. Mike must be busy with college, and he sure wasn’t going to hang out with that Windy guy. He was glad not to see him around.

The troubling thing however was the city had changed. Now everyone seemed to believe in vampires. The truth was out. He was worried about his vampire friends, not that he had seen them either in some time.

He was at the bank at Wickbridge, a place he knew well as he hanged out there a lot. He was in the corner behind the plants. The workers at the bank were used to him by now, they would even give him food and candy, lots of candy. Though they were not fond of his wolf thingy, Peter, so he made sure Peter would stay outside to wait for him. He opened a candy bar and started to chew on the chocolate as the people went through the line to take care of their money.

“Is it even safe to be out here at all? Who knows, anyone could be a blood sucker.” The people in line were talking about vampires.

“This city hasn’t been safe in a long time. Guess we all know why now.” Someone replied.

“They need to be hunted down and killed…if they can be killed. Can we lock them all up or something? Maybe they will starve to death.” The first man added.

Nimrod popped his head out from behind the plants. “No, you can’t do that!” he protested.

He must have given them a fright as they both jumped back. “And why not?” one of them asked, “Are you buddy buddy with vampires? You should be locked up with them. They are dangerous and need to be destroyed!”

“Just like people, there are good and bad ones sure but that doesn’t mean you should put them all in one group like that.” Nimrod replied.

“Wait, this is that nut case I’ve heard about.” One of them said and pulled out his phone, looking up a number before calling it. “You guys need to get out to the Wickbridge bank, there’s someone you need to put back where he belongs. Yeah he’s totally mental. I’m pretty sure he must have escaped from a loony bin.”

Nimrod stared confused but the other man offered him a lollipop, their plan to distract him until someone showed up to take him away. And it worked, of course. As soon as he got a new sweet, he was easily distracted by it and forgot what they were talking about at the moment.

The doors to the bank opened up and a group of men in white came in. Nimrod eyes widened, this triggered his memories of being locked up what was once the Asylum in the QZ before it was that way though. He quickly ran as they chased him around the bank, he was fast for an old man. He ran for the doors and escaped out to the city but they were hot on his heels. “No, I won’t go back!” he said, “Peter!” he yelled for his wolf.

Peter came running up to him and followed alongside of him, though the creature turned back and growled at the people chasing Nimrod. Nimrod was looking for a hiding spot as he wasn’t the violet type, and the sooner the better as he was getting tired fast.

Nimrod turned down an ally, if only he had fed on some vampire blood, he would have some powers to work with to get away. He hid behind a dumpster as soon as he saw that it was a dead end. He hugged Peter and started to cry, “I can’t go back...no more sweets…and the tests and experiments..”

Just as the days before, Tyra had ventured into the lesser frequented areas of Harper rock, especially a little alley. The little kitten had been there, as it had the previous days. By now, Tyra doubted it had an owner. Or anyone else to take care of it. The kitten was so young, and so helpless, she couldn't just leave it be. But her landlord had already caught onto the last two animals she had brought home. Would she bring that kitten home, she was sure he'd throw her out once he noticed.

True, she could bring it to some shelter, but she was never sure if those could be trusted. But in the end, the kitty would be safer there than alone on the street, as it was obviously too young to survive alone. Tyra had decided to bring it to a shelter, would it still be there today.

As she was petting it, greeting the cat as usual, it suddenly backed away, obviously afraid. Knowing it couldn't be her that scared it, Tyra turned around, only to see a man and a... wolf? running past and into another alley. Right after came a group of men, obviously chasing the other.

Of course she had been prepared to get into some strange situations, seeing as she wasn't in the liveliest area. But this was way different from what she had expected. But as she couldn't leave things as they were, she instead spoke up to the people coming running. “You're searching for that guy and the wolf? Ran past here like crazy a moment ago.” While saying that, she pointed over to where the road continued, leading them past the turn he took.

Some of them gave her sceptic looks, but they followed the direction she gave them nonetheless. Probably hadn't enough time to confirm whether what she said was correct. After all, they were on the chase.

As soon as they were out of view and she was sure they wouldn't come back, she walked into the alley she'd seen him go into. Though what interested her most wasn't the man. Or not he himself. It was the wolf. And how he had the wolf following him. Animals had always been her soft spot.

“They're off your trail for now. Whoever they were. You okay?” While talking, she looked around the place to see if he came out of his hiding spot.
