Crossing Blood Thieves [Open]

Post by Nerissa Clemming »

Nerissa walked down a quiet sidewalk towards the sewer entrance she always used to get back to the quarantine zone. It had been a profitable night of breaking and entering, her bag was full of items she would get for a decent price. Even more so now that she learned how to coerce the shop keep to give her more than usual.

She tucked a lock of her hair behind her ear and looked up just in time to avoid hitting a young man standing in the middle of the sidewalk in front of her. Scowling she snapped "Hey, watch it! I almost walked right into you." The young man looked at her and grinned. "Hey, sorry about that. I didn't hear you coming." He looked her up and down quickly before continuing, "You wouldn't happen to be interested in selling some of your blood, would you? I would be more than happy to compensate you."

Nerissa scoffed, "No thanks, not interested." She never liked Blood Thieves or whatever they called themselves, let alone let them take some of her blood. She moved over and walked past him, but the click of a gun stopped her in her tracks. "That's too bad, I was hoping I wouldn't need to use force."

Nerissa narrowed her eyes and began to think quickly. Her trusty rifle Cathryn was on her back and a dagger was concealed in her jacket, but she had to get out of the way of the Blood Thief's gun. She slowly held up her hands and said in her most innocent tone, "There's no need for that. If you're that desperate we could work out a deal!" At the last word she quickly ducked out of the way and rolled, feeling the bullet wiz past her head. As she came to a stop she held her rifle and began to shoot at the Blood Thief, all of her bullets missing except for one that found its way into the Thief's leg. He yelled out in pain and lowered his gun, so Nerissa took this opportunity to run and try to reach the sewers. If she could just get down there she would be able to lose her attacker in the twisting tunnels.

Before she could get far, another Blood Thief leaped out of a dark alley and cut her off. Nerissa skidded to a halt and jumped back to avoid a large sword that swung down at where she was standing. She glanced around and saw the one she shot hobbling toward her, his gun aimed at her again. They just don't give up! Nerissa scowled and darted to the side towards the alley, hoping to gain some cover in the darkness. she heard shots firing at her but none of them hit their mark and she hid behind a large dumpster, staying as close to the wall as she could. She heard the two men enter the alley and random bullets hitting the garbage surrounding her in an attempt to scare her out. With a deep breath to settle her nerves, she jumped onto the closed dumpster she was hiding behind and used it to propel herself over her attackers and back onto the street.

Without looking back Nerissa bolted for the sewer entrance as fast as she could. More bullets were fired at her, and this time one of them hit her in the shoulder. She stumbled to the ground, her rifle clattering against the street in front of her. Nerissa pushed herself back up and tried to run, but a large hand grabbed her injured shoulder. Gritting against the pain, Nerissa pulled out her dagger and swung wildly, making contact with the man's arm and hearing a howl of pain. Before she could get away the butt of a gun came down hard on her head and she collapsed, barely registering someone picking her up before falling into darkness.

Nerissa had lost track of the days. All she knew was that she was starving. The blood thieves that attacked her had taken her to a warehouse in who knows where, then chained her to a wall before quickly draining her of blood while she was unconscious. Now she was very weak and unable to fight back against her restraints and captors while they drained her of blood. They made sure she had enough to live, but that was all, bringing her a blood pack or two every few days.

Nerissa was slumped against the wall she was chained to, her ratted hair covering her face. She didn't look up at the sound of the door opening, she knew what was coming. She had lost her will to fight, but she wasn't going to give her captors the benefit of her acknowledging their presence. Instead she was still trying to plan an escape, hopefully involving as many deaths as possible in the process.
