Dark Side [Open]

Post by Raven Talius »

Raven stood just outside of Voodoo café, her brown hues barely registered the office skyscraper or the fact that the museum, which was to be the Dragonal building, was positioned next to it. After the emotional roller-coaster she had just been on, she was more than keen to feel pain, to bury her humanity under the pain. At this point she wanted to feel absolutely nothing. The amount of time she planned to stay away from her sire so then her sire could smooth things over with Jesse, was going to hurt so much and so, throwing herself into work was better than not doing so. Why? Because at least then she could distract herself with so much physical pain and she hoped tat it would also bury the emotional pain.

The fledgling had basically left the Fforde family and she hoped that Clover was happy, because Clover was getting no-where with Jesse because she was present. If anything, Raven knew that she made family matters worse, even if she did try to smooth it over. So, when she had walked out, she had walked out. Ever since then, she hadn’t returned and she silently shook her head as she lifted her right hand to tug the fingers through her red and black locks. After she had walked out, the woman had gone on a blood spree, drinking as much as she could. To tear through skin and flesh only to listen to the cries of her victims as she clamped their mouths shut. The woman had resigned herself to the fact that she really was a lone raven, one that worked better on her own. She had gone rogue once more, attempting to place distance towards everything, but she still felt the want to make sure that Clover had been able to fix things with Jesse. To make sure that she was ok, but she squished it down. She had to concentrate upon this night.

Silently, she shifted to take out her packet of cigarettes and proceeded to light one, pocketing the rest. The woman inhaled, drawing in the cigarette smoke into her lungs and she pulled the cig from her lips then as she exhaled. Tonight, she knew that Enzo wanted her to deal with some rogue vampires and she was more than happy to slaughter a few. Vampires meant a chance to kill others of her kind, unless of course they had gone feral. The woman had encountered a few of these in the Quarantine Zone, where she went about killing a few zombies. Her steps echoed inside of her own ears as she crossed the asphalt towards the Corporate office skyscraper. She hoped that no matter the type of vampires present, feral or not, that they would put up somewhat of a challenge, because she looked for a fight where she would get injured.

A twin set of katanas rested upon her back in their scabbards, while she had a simple hunting dagger tucked into a small sheath by her right ankle. The woman also had a pair of hand guns tucked into holsters on either side of her thighs. She wanted to be ready just in case, but then again, she just really wanted to hurt something and be seriously hurt. However, carrying such weapons like she did, she had to stick close to the shadows so then she wouldn't be noticed by the humans that were too gullible and relaxed. Occasionally, she had also stopped and waited for a simple cop to pass her before he went about his way. Perhaps she should invest in a thick leather trench coat to hide her weapons, but for now, she hadn’t minded the trip itself. Raven had only paused just outside Voodoo and clung to the shadows, so she could wait for the coast to be clear for her to cross and cross she did.

As she approached the building, she simply shoved through the doors and sighed as she rolled her shoulders. After last night, she had simply slept upon a couch in the basement of a simple building as daylight had claimed the city after her blood filled night. It felt as if she had some kink in her neck, but she was sure that it would sort itself out soon enough. Raven went ahead and slipped through to the elevator to go up towards Enzo’s office. She itched, she itched for the upcoming fight and she realized that she probably should have gone up the stairs instead, as standing in a box wasn’t really helping her impatience. The moment that it dinged and the doors opened, she stepped out and her steps carried her over towards Enzo office. Raven didn’t knock. Nope, she just simply pushed through the door and into the office. ”Evening Enzo. I’m here to get started.” Her manner was brisk and not at all playful. She had lost her playful edge, all she wanted was pain and blood.

Silence reigned supreme in the office and nothing moved for several minutes as the pair seated at an enormous desk made of rich mahogany looked over pages of drafts spilled over the surface. His eyes scanned the facts, and then he broke the somber quiet of the room as he shook out the blueprints his thrall Harmon Amery, city counselman ( important thrall )had supplied. He wouldn't have this particular set without his little puppet and was loathe to let them from his person. The plans were a complete set of the sewers that ran beneath the city, and the sub sewers that housed the old electric lines and cables, water mains and banks.. all simply built over as Harpers Rock grew and modernized.

Forgotten... these plans were long forgotten and Enzo planned to keep it that way. The pre-holocaust levels were ripe for exploration and he was the man to get it done. There was nothing on this earth that would stop the forward roll of Dragonal and the information and power it demanded. Even had he wanted to change direction... be a 'good and kind' soul... it was too late now. He looked at Matilda, his left hand... the other half of the balance of dark Necromantic power that seeped through almost every aspect of the company... insidious, sensual, powerful magics... the kind that got **** done. His beautiful Mortll commanded the other half, his right hand, his lover and confidante... she who was more capable a being than many could even fathom.. but Enzo knew, and appreciated.

perhaps even loved.

Time would tell. His dark brows pulled together as he slid the blueprints to Matilda, about to comment on an odd angle a turn made... close to the abandoned mansion just on the edge of town... when the door suddenly opened and a flurry of Redhead crashed in. Raven, head of the ops division of security was apparently ready for duty...

"very well Raven, I trust you are ready for the violence?" the Allurist looked over her highly trained and corded figure, her clothing choices and weapons... and approved. He had made no mistakes hiring this one. She might argue it... but she'd be wrong. "Raven, this is Matilda.. I don't know if you've met or not. Matilda and Mortll are the heads of Archives and Division productivity." He did not mention that it really meant heads of 'Thats some damn scary **** you have going on down there mister Dragomir sir... ' hell half of the reason for this upcoming expedition beneath the city was for Necro 'bits' that they needed for other endeavors. He did love some good nasty...

The 6'4 Allurist stood then, and handed Raven the file containing the blueprints for the Museum. They couldn't begin construction until it was cleaned out of Rogues that took up residence in the basement... and who knew what else called it home. The file also contained intel from a weeks worth of watching their comings and goings and general patterns... or lack of pattern aside from taking victims inside and crashing there during the day. It really was a pending problem as he had clients and other companies constantly in and out of the office space they were leasing on the top floor of the commercial skyscraper next door to his baby. What if they ate someone important?

"Do you have all the weapons you'll be needing? Equipment?" he asked in almost a casual way, he knew what a loner Raven was, how temperamental she could be and he respected her talents enough to accomodate it... to a point. He glanced at Matilda and gave her a look that meant for her to ready herself if healings were needed tonight.

God he loved Necromancers.

so damned nasty.

Matilda strolled into the Dragonal building a few minutes before the scheduled meeting, a well fitted black coated draped over her shoulder, and a bag that appeared specifically designed to carry portfolios or important documents, far too designer to simply be called a briefcase. It appeared Matilda was taking this enterprise seriously, the usually laid back Australian had begun to dress more powerfully since her return to activity within Harper Rock and she had a more determined air. There had always been stubbornness of course, a survivalist instinct but there had been a shift. Enzo didn't know her, not really, they'd spoken enough to discuss plans for what he wanted and for her to present her own ideas. He saw her as capable, as someone with an inside knowledge of abilities that he himself did not possess. The art of the Necromancer, the abilities to heal or disturb the natural forces. Matilda was willing to meet his expectations and exceed them, she had wasted enough time and now that they were down to the final discussions before her work began an earnest the woman walked with a new hunger.

Barely pausing to knock Matilda strode into the man's office, placing down her bag by the desk where he sat. She didn't exactly give the man a chance to get up, the blonde shedding her coat to reveal the slinky pale blue dress worn beneath, tossing the discarded layer onto a chair. "I've been going over this and i've made some changes, they are marked in red. You can argue if you'd like, but I think you know full well we will end right back where we started. Hm?" She hopped up to sit on the desk, reaching down to grab out a folder, opening it up and dropping it onto his desk. "Handsome men," She tutted, "Why are you all so damn stubborn and obtuse? Shame really." Her eyes drifted over him, a smile quirking lips before turning back to her own copy, reprinted to the agreement she was suggesting he sign. "Once you have looked over the changes, i've signed this one so we just need your John Hancock and we are set." The paperwork was withdrawn and placed on the other side of the desk, waiting. Matilda then made a rather bold move, leaning back to brush twin kisses against his cheeks in a rather socialite greeting, her hand reaching up shortly after the soft brush of lips to pat firmly over the left. "Oh, and hello Enzo, it is a pleasure to see you again mate."

The meeting had gone on like this for a while, Matilda eventually slipping into one of the chairs, her document signed with his approval and more things to peruse spread out over the desk. Her fingertips were drawing the blueprints pushed across the desk closer, eyes appraising when a woman had barrelled in the room, looking like something from an action movie or perhaps a b-grade superhero flick. Matilda's brow went up, taking a moment to get a good eyeful of what she could only assume was their vampire equivalent of a security team Enzo had been going on about. "This must be the leader of your murder team." Ever the smart ***, she knew the title he'd chosen and was happily disregarding it, she wasn't attempting to demean him just to remind him to enjoy it. The leggy blonde rose to her feet, offering Raven a nod. They'd not met, in fact she wasn't sure she'd ever seen the woman. "Matilda Jacobson, but you can call me whatever nickname takes your fancy." She spoke after Enzo, giving him an exasperated look at the description of her role.

He really was a piece of work, and she hated to admit he might grow on her.

As discussion of weapons was had Matilda looked distracted, her eyes shifting back to the desk, leaning over it to pick at pieces of paper as if in search of something. Busywork, mostly. She'd turned once more just in time to catch that look that Enzo levelled on her and gave a hearty roll of the eyes. "I should probably change then, if business tonight involves her blood on my hands. Raven, i'll give you my number, call me if you are in need of a little repair work. Enzo will foot the bill." Matilda smirked, two steps having her taking her place at his left side. Her choice of heels meant that while he was still an intimidating height, he no longer towered over her and Matilda took advantage of the opportunity, knocking her hip to his. "Isn't that right, Daddy Warbucks?" She did so love to taunt beautiful men.

Raven’s brown hues flickered to the woman present in the room and glanced over her, noting the pale blue dress that accentuated the woman’s every curve. Slowly she shifted her gaze downwards until she noted the heels that the woman wore. The fledgling hated dresses, especially one like the one thet the woman in front of her wore. A blonde in a dress and heels, it was very stereotypical. It didn’t surprise the woman at all that Enzo would hire someone such as her, but then again, she really didn’t care as to who Enzo hired, so long as they didn’t get in her way. The woman didn’t play very nice with others and tonight, she wasn’t going to play ball. She wasn’t going to budge on anything. Both of them seemed to introduce the blonde as Matilda. Why? She really didn’t know, she only needed to hear the name once. ”Leader of the murder team? Cute."

As Enzo stood and handed her a file, the woman shifted then and took a few steps back so then her back was to the wall that was right next to the door. Silently, she opened the file and glanced over the blueprints. While she mostly assumed that they would take up residence in the basement, the rogues wouldn’t be stupid enough to not have others scouting the building. Especially during the night where it was safe for them to roam the hallways, the sun couldn’t get to them at that time of night. Not a sound was made from Raven except for the occasional shuffle of papers as she flipped one over to glance at the next. Her gaze slowly slid over the layouts, one by one. To most, it would seem as if she was trying to see what points would be considered a trap, but the woman was only simply looking over them to mesmerize them.

Someone could look at a blueprint and say, ‘Yes, that could provide a problem.’ However, she preferred to actually walk the building to make sure that it wouldn’t be a problem and not carry papers with her. So, she was simply memorizing each page, something she had always had a knack for. It also made it rather hard for people to give her the same lie twice without making a slight error of change. So she would pick up the differences and put the two together. She heard Enzo ask her about whether she needed any weapons or equipment, but she simply remained quiet as she turned the current blueprint over to view the next one. Being that it used to be a museum a vampire could probably use a balcony for a look out position and an ambush position. They wouldn’t need to rush to alert the ones down stairs, simply because technology made it much easier for enemies to communicate. However, she would have an advantage against them. The building would be dark and seeing as her path was shadows; she could simply blend in with them.

Indeed, the woman was assuming that even though they were a small group, there would be some kind of order amongst them. Most rogues didn’t go rogue with others, unless they had already established a pecking order of some kind. Otherwise, it would be chaotic and they probably would have been wiped out before now. While Raven didn’t so much as care for rogues, she was sure that others did, as it threatened the secrecy of the vampire society. Finally, she came to the basement blueprint, which was naturally on the bottom and she paused long enough to glanced over it, noting the details before she closed the file. She tapped the file against her left palm as she looked back up at Enzo and shook her head. ”It seems fairly simple enough and I have all that I need. You mentioned that there was only four of them last time and I’m assuming that there is only four from our last talk. However, I hope that you don’t mind for my own sake, if I assume that there are more than four simple individuals.”

It’s better to over-estimate rather than underestimate, she reminded herself. To underestimate, could very well mean that she would get surprised with more than four individual rogues. With that in mind, she knew that there were more than one path that a vampire be turned on and she was going to be relying upon the fact that she was shadow. So, she also had to assume that at least one of them were also shadow, in which case would probably be a challenge… Or not. The woman walked forwards to lightly place the file on top of Enzo’s desk. Lightly, due to the fact that there were blueprints within it and could scatter if she threw it. Raven simply perked a brow at the man then, “Is that all?” That was, until she heard the woman known as Matilda speak about healing and she simply shook her head.

No, she didn’t want healing, she wanted pain. ”Don’t bother, I don’t really want your healing abilities tonight. Not because it costs Enzo, but simply because I don’t want it.” The woman wanted pain, and she was betting that even though these vampires were rogue, they could still fight somewhat.

His aura of commanding calm permeated the office, his silence was absolute as his attention was once more taken with the plans in his grasp. He was aware of the two women sharing space with him, but he noted it purely in the abstract as his mind became something calculating... cunning..

There was something there beneath his building. It didn't register on either of the city underground plans, but it was there.. a void that was just to 'nothing' to be nothing. His eyes narrowed, the dragon's gaze focused as he mentally put together his next moves and finally the silence was broken. "Raven." his leonine head didn't look up, he knew where she was. "While you are down there, see if there is any oddness of building... such as walls that seem wrong, or areas that might have once been doors."

He didn't have a clear view yet, his mind still processing the million variants, taking every turn and creating a move to counter it. The Allurist knew that he could count on his head of ops to see it done thoroughly and without micromanaging so he left her to it. Sitting back down beside Matilda, his brows almost locked together as his thumb stroked along the short beard of his jaw he knew he had to get under that building.

First things first...he hit his com to his secretary "Rhonda send in the exterminators." he had bits to find for his Necros.

There was a familiar look in the woman's eye, a flash of something she'd seen before, a look she too had held in her gaze. She wanted the fierceness of battle, the heat of it and the pain that followed. This woman was baying for blood, for destruction and all the better if she got a little thrown back her way. Matilda had been there, she'd hit a point where she could only communicate with a dagger or gun, with a sword slammed up between ribs but passion fell somewhere between the pain and recovery. Interesting.

Matilda appraised the young woman once more before shrugging, turning to drop into her seat. "I get it, fine. Don't want healing? Call me if you want me to shove my fist into a wound then and tear it up with a pluck of fingers at the skin keeping you together, to stop it from healing because sweet cheeks I can do that too. Either way, no skin off my nose, you want to suffer then i'll help you make it last." It might've seemed a cruel sentiment, but if Matilda's suspicions were correct, if she had correctly diagnosed that look then Raven wouldn't be offended. "The offer is genuine, by the way, i'm not JUST being a rude *****." She folded her long legs, one over the other and grabbed up some of the plans, studying them once more. "Enzo, i'm going to need an open tab at a dry cleaners." She muttered, a small smirk curving her lips. "****, it's good to be back, mate."
