The red-head was as excited as she was nervous as she signed the last few documents needed to get the proverbial ball rolling on what she hoped would be the year's biggest bash. Six events of this caliber hosted in five weeks was a crazy idea, she knew but she had been set on the idea of one event for each year in business. It had grown a bit to be six once the human had realized there was no way to explain vampires fighting to uninitiated humans. This tournament, RP-wise, takes place in The Dungeon of The Necropolis Nightclub. The Dungeon is open to Vampires only, though on this occasion, it has been opened to classed humans as well.
Tonight was the kick-off event, at least for vampires, which was scheduled to take place in The Dungeon. Amalea had taken particular care to design an arena that balanced a large fighting area with plenty of spectator seating. Each of the plush, luxurious seats had a call button for the patron's comfort and convenience. Balconies were arranged with a variety of seating options from multiple single person chairs to fewer multi-person seating options. Luxury didn't end with the spectators as each contestant was affording their own 'locker room' though they were a far cry from the typical sports rooms. Mini-bars of blood and spirits were perfectly at home in the living room style rooms.
She could hear the quiet hum of the gathered crowds intensify as she approached the arena from her office. The tournament had been pushed back a day due to the need to reconfigure the event to account for the severe lack in sign-ups. She was disappointed, of course, that so few had wanted to take part, but her hope was the crowd would still get quite the show. As long as the participants enjoyed themselves and the audience was entertained, she'd consider the event a success.
"Two minutes, Miss Amalea," warned the quiet voice in her ear as the headset discreetly placed there for the night flickered to life. "Thank you," was her reply as she came to a stop by the door to do a last second wardrobe check. Satisfied with her appearance, she took the offered wireless microphone and stepped into the arena where she made her way to the fighting area. A soft smile crept upon her lips as her eyes swept across the crowd as she waited for them to settle down.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Dungeon! It has been a great privilege to serve the community for the past five years and we're looking forward to continuing that service for years to come. We couldn't let such an occasion pass without a celebration, so we'll be presenting you with an event a week for the next five weeks," she paused, as she turned so she was now facing the other side of the arena, as she didn't want people to feel like they were being left out. "Tonight, it is our great privilege to kick off the festivities with a tournament featuring five of your own. These competitors will be facing each other each round. The person with the most losses at the end of the round will be eliminated while the others survive to fight another round. Of course, we couldn't just have a single match for the finale, so the finals round will consist of a best-of-three contest."
Out of the corner, she caught the barest of nods from the security team indicating that the first competitors were ready to go, "We wish everyone the best of luck! And without further delay, let the games begin!" The red-head quickly exited the fighting area, passing off the microphone to the announcer as she headed for her seat.
