Breakfast at The Hive-(Adley Reed, Jameson Dade)

Post by Indigo »

* Indigo flips the mixture that had turned into an omelet that was worth being captured. Glancing over her shoulder she caught sight of what could make that happen and seized the moment. One of Adley's cameras did the job with a click. Turning off the burner she lifted the pan and tipped it so that the mixture of cheese, sweet peppers, eggs and onions landed perfectly in the center of the plate she was holding. "Beautiful!" She announced and grabbed a fork from the utensil drawer. As soon as she was about to sample it she heard the sounds of the front door closing. One of her night bees was slipping back into the hive. She padded her way with the steps of her barefeet to greet him. Adley. She smiled while watching him."There you are." She lifted the plate. "I made breakfast. Join me, yes?"

* Adley Reed had been out working; his favourite camera slung over his shoulder. There was always something to photograph. Always some accident, some shooting, some disaster that could be forever immortalized, digitized. He'd been to the newsroom and had sold what pictures he could, and now he was home again. Home. How long had it been since he had been back to his own apartment? A couple of times, just to get some things he needed. But he lived here, now. Here with the others. He slipped through the door only to smell something delicious. Something he couldn't eat, but which made his mouth water anyway. He sauntered toward the vast kitchen, slipping his camera from his neck and sliding onto one of the stools. "I'll watch you eat," he said, winking.

* Indigo looked at the plate in her hand and felt the pout form on her lips. She had just created the to die for omelet. It was near perfection. She had proof in his camera and he was going to pass it up? She was having a hard time with one thing...well a couple with Adley. He was so physically out of reach at times but she was working on that like a champ. Second was that the man never ate with her. Well, this time he was sampling and she would see to it. "C'mere. You have to taste this." She stepped closer to him with the portion dangling on the fork. "Open for me?" She bite her bottom lip hoping to see his yummy bottom lip drop.

* Adley Reed thought about it. He really did. He looked at the beautiful mess of eggs and peppers onion, perfectly moist and steaming, and probably seasoned just right, too. Was it worth it? What was worse? Denying it completely or throwing it up five minutes after swallowing it? Adley shook his head, his smile radiant. "You're a growing girl. You eat it. you need it more than I do," he said. He wanted to reach up and close his fingers around hers, to guide the fork back toward her own mouth. Except, that would involve touching her. And they all knew how that ended. She wanted more. And then she was fast asleep. She'd probably just woken up. Had she woken up for a reason? And he'd ruin it. So he just smiled, and pretended to be interested in the pictures he'd taken that night.

‹Jameson Dade› He was in the middle of a forest so dense that the canopy only let little slivers of moonlight filter down to touch him. All around, there were deer running through the trees. Jay could only get a few glimpses of them at a time, but there was something odd. They seemed to have human faces. Faces he recognized very well. Suddenly there was silence as they padded towards him from all directions. Three of them. And as they walked, they became wolves. Suddenly he was standing in front of those figures with fangs like the sharp blades of a serrated knife. He took a step back and then fell, tripping over a branch. And woke up. He inhaled a snort that made an unattractive sound. It took him a second to realize that he was in the Hive, and had slept through the night. He did that sometimes. He'd have entire days when he just completely blacked out. He shuffled up onto his hands and knees and then slid off the side of the bed, feet hitting floor.

‹Jameson Dade› He wore a pair of boxers with little dog bones on them. Bucket, his golden retriever, had recently moved into the Hive with him. That...had been somewhat accidental. But the pooch was tucked away somewhere, probably still asleep. So Jay groggily made his way towards the sound of voices, and the hope of coffee. Mmm. Coffee. He padded into the kitchen and caught sight of Adley and Indigo. There was the smell of food and he just sort of flopped himself into the nearest available seat, body sprawled out, legs outstretched, eyes rimmed in red. He watched the pair curiously. "S'ateggs?" He asked, all one word, barely pronounced.

* Indigo eyes him still holding the fork in the air. Adley was so sweet but was even better at the smooth dismissing of her offering. The fork settled back on the plate that now seemed to have an interested third joining the mix. Indigo shifted the loose worn t-shirt that felt comfortable but in fact looked like whichever one of the guys it belonged to had it nearly ripped from his body before it ever landed on hers. Her feet carried her over to Jameson who showed interest. She kissed his cheek and handed him the plate. "A world class omelet. One that our man here passed up. Breaking my heart Adley when I broke those eggs for it." She leaned back against the counter and eyed Jay then Adley."How about I make you a steak? Hmm?"

* Adley Reed could not have been more relieved when Jameson joined them. Jameson, who could eat. Jameson, who would take those eggs and eat them with relish. Adley was off the hook. He even turned his camera off, watching as Indigo sashayed away, his green eyes watching her all the while, dipping down to her toes and back up again. And then she was back, sans eggs. Not even any for herself. And then she suggested steak, and Adley was buried right back in it again. He sucked in a breath that he didn't need and threw a meaningful glance at Jameson. Rubbing at his face as he sighed, Adley growled. Kaspar and Jameson had it easy. They could eat. They could get away with looking human. Adley had barely scraped by. Suddenly, Adley turned to Jameson and shrugged. "Can we just tell her? I want to tell her. It's going to make **** so much easier..."

* Indigo looked at Adley and raised a brow. Was it her cooking? She actually could cook.

‹Jameson Dade› Indigo wa kissing him on the cheek and handing him a plate of what smelled like delicious omelet. Basically one of the best ways to wake up, that didn't involve getting woken up with oral. "Yer a wonder." He said to her as he inhaled the scent and then attempted to gauge the room. Indie was trying to feed Adley, but that wasn't going to work for a very obvious, vomitty reason. Normally, he might have chided the man good-naturedly. Who passed up food? Free food?! Free food that had been made by a beautiful woman. But he didn't want to complicate the situation even more and he wasn't really awake enough to be coherent. So instead, to save himself from having to contribute, he stuffed the mixture into his mouth, of at least one fork-full. Then he chewed as if to say 'Oh look, my mouth is full, I can't contribute to the-' He had an idea. He had an awesome idea. He swallowed thickly. "These are amazing." He admitted. And then. "Maybe he already a-" He was cut off by Adley's question. Oh. OH. It was time to have the talk. That talk. "Yeah. I think she's ready." He said before putting the omelet down so he could shuffle towards the coffee maker.

* Indigo watched the approval in the bites consumed by Jay. She nodded over to the guy as he got up and made his way to the coffee maker as if to say.."See, he didn't die from it." She sighed. They were going to inform her of what? What was she ready for? She was incredibly curious. "Yes, I am ready. I was born ready. Give it to me, Adley. Solve the mystery."

* Adley Reed was determined, now, with approval from Jameson. They were only missing Kaspar - but he could be pleasantly appraised later on. He couldn't be mad, could he? It would make things easy for him, too, and he wouldn't have to be there for all the awkward disbelief. Worst case scenario, Indigo would throw them all out of her house. But they were all too close for that, weren't they? And anyway, Adley was only giving away his secret. She could go on believing the others were human, if that's what they wanted. "I... " he started. No. He couldn't just tell her. He'd have to show her. Before Jameson could get very far, Adley had reached out and snagged him, grabbing an arm and pulling him closer. Adley hadn't had anything to eat, yet - why would he, when he had Jameson waiting for him? With just the intention of biting, the anticipation of blood, his canines lengthened. "I can't eat human food. I have to... " he sighed, and peeled back his upper lip, revealing the sharp teeth. He glanced at Jameson before he brought that wrist to his lips. He didn't try to hide anything. He bit down, slowly, lips still peeled from his teeth so that Indigo could see the whole show; so she could see the fangs pierce the skin.

* Adley Reed - So that she might see the bubble of blood come to the surface before his lips finally closed over the wound. Now that he had started, he couldn't very well stop - though this was hardly the high that Jameson would be used to. Adley was rushing.

‹Jameson Dade› He was just reaching for the coffee pot when suddenly the world shifted around him. Glass canister in hand, he was pulled closer to Adley, and that's when he realized what was happening. Fangs were bare. Adley was going to show Indigo what they were. It didn't even occur to Jameson to pretend to be human once the secret was out. Why would he? Besides. It would just leave questions for Indigo if Adley could mysteriously feed from Jay, but not from her. Better to be completely forthcoming, get all the cards out on the table. It was what he had been wanting wasn't it? Because they lived in a shitty town filled with shitty people and shitty vampires who all liked to try and kill each other. Indie girl needed to know what she was up against if she was going to be able to defend herself. So he let himself be pulled closer.

‹Jameson Dade› The whole thing wasn't as sensual as it normally was, but that was fine. It still sent electricity sparking under his skin and left him shifting weight from one foot to the other. One arm lifted with a wrist against mouth, the other drooped to his side, holding the coffee pot. Well at least it woke him up, that initial shock of pain and the sensation of blood leaving him. He wobbled on his feet though and then looked to Indigo before abruptly wrenching his hand away so that she could see where fangs ripped open his arm. Blood splattered onto the floor in a sudden spurt. But the most curious thing happened. The flesh began to stitch together. Bleeding stopped. The wound began to seal as he held his arm up and showed the woman what was happening. "We're vampires, love. You've been bedding with monsters."

* Indigo lower jaw slowly fell until it hanged where it did. Adley taking hold of Jameson's arm was not unexpected. There was a interaction of the three that was common. She wrote it off as something perhaps he couldn't do with as much interest with her. She was cool with it...was determined to find a way into that too with Adley in particular. Now as his beautiful teeth revealed an unexpected addition she was left with her jaw open, her Indigo hues likely increasing in size due to the stretching of the lids around them. She looked to Jay, who was caught in the act and stared like a deer caught in headlights. The red fluid landing on the floor was like a finale to a scene she had a hard time working through in her brain. Her hands curled at the edge of the counter behind her and held on tight. Vampires? Her face deadpanned once her jaw returned to an upright position. She wanted to go with, "Yeah, right." But despite how simple denial could be at this point she realized it explained a whole lot more. Well, sort of. "Okay..." She stood there unable to move. "Since when?"

* Adley Reed didn't like it when the meal was ripped away, mid-feast. Blood spilled over Adley's chin and he watched as it hit the floor; his eyes widened, and he forced himself to look away. Look away from the colour; hold his breath so the scent didn't get to him too much. He was already up and out of his seat looking for a cloth so that he could clean it up. Indigo must think he was OCD - must always have thought it. But now she could learn all the different quirks that made him tick. Could she really believe them that easily? As he wiped up the blood from the floor, Adley appeared to think about it. It was around September the year before, right? Maybe. He'd lost track of time. "Only around six months, for me..." he said, glancing up at Jameson. He'd never asked that question of Jameson. He was curious.

* Indigo found the proof of what would otherwise be too easy to write off as the two giving her ****. She swallowed dryly eyeing the blood on Adley's skin and ultimately inhaled slow and deep catching her breath when it filled her lungs. Her heart was pounding, the sound of it in her ears as loud as their voices. She couldn't feel her fingertips curled around the black surface she clung to. It made so much sense. The cold skin, the way they seemed so much larger than the world she knew around them. Wait. Kaspar. She looked to the blood. She wanted to clean it up. Marina. Did she really just disappear? She waited for Jay to say something. Anything.

* Adley Reed slowly stood. "It really is better that you know. You... well, you've had the three of us so there's not much that could happen to you," he said, highly confident in his own abilities to keep Indigo safe, and with enough trust that the other two cared for her enough to follow suit. "And like there are different kinds of vampires, there are different quirks. Hmm... like.. curses," he said, his gaze sweeping the interior before it found one of the pot plants that someone had been keeping alive. He'd have to buy them another one. Tossing the cloth to the sink, he went to the small pot (which he had taken care to avoid thus far) and brought it back to Indigo. It was already wilting. He had only to touch the base of it to quicken the process. Within seconds, it looked like it had been dead for weeks. He shrugged, slowly. It was self-explanatory, wasn't it? He wanted her to know, finally, why he couldn't touch her.

* Indigo eyes Jay's movements then darted back to Adley. "Kaspar?" Her voice was forced out and cracked as she said the name. She finally released the counter behind her and stepped slowly forward towards Jameson. Her fingers trembled but she was drawn to the ones within the room. Her hand reached for Jay's wrist and found the skin healed. Her fingers revealed what she never realized until that moment. Never had a reason to search for it. No pulse under the cool skin beneath her warm fingers. "You heal so fast?" Her attention went to Adley. "So, you don't drink from Adley?" She didn't look back at Jay when Adley mentioned curses. "Curses?"

‹Jameson Dade› Indie got closer and he pressed towards her, not quite huddling towards her figure, but he offered up his wrist for inspection. "Yeah. Vampires heal really fast. Like uncanny. We can even regrow limbs." He knew that for fact, after having had a run in with a particularly mean-spirited hunter with a really big sword. "Nah." He said a second after that. "I only drink human blood. Well I could drink from animals I guess, but Adley drinks from other vampires. It's some kinda...thing. I dunno how to explain it, but maybe he can." He murmured quietly before the topic of curses came up and his attention was drawn to Adley and the dying plant. How had he never noticed that before? Well he was dead, so it wasn't like he naturally would have. "Yeah. Like most people forget when a vampire feeds from them, but when I bite someone, they always remember. Always. And I can get high and sick and **** like that." Yeah. He was very human when it came to their weaknesses, it seemed.

* Indigo a slow inhale sent her petite nose flaring. She felt the tension of the shock wearing off. It would be insane any other time but it really made so much sense. Jay wouldn't lie to her and neither would Adley. Not about this."So, you haven't obviously bitten me."

* Adley Reed slid the plant onto the counter. What kind of plant had it been, and would he be able to find one just like it to replace it with? He was distracted, momentarily, before being brought back into the conversation. "I used to feed from humans. Before I was turned, I was a blood thief..." he started. Was this all too much for Indigo? Too much too fast. Could she retain all this information? "... I used to like to consume vampire blood when human. It made me stronger. I suppose I still had a taste for it. I was sired by a woman who basically abandoned me and told me nothing. I didn't know that if I bit a vampire I wouldn't be able to bite humans ever again. I didn't know that the city hated Necurats - that's what they call me - or that they would kill someone for it," he said. And then he stopped. Yeah. Too much. Had to have been too much.

‹Jameson Dade› "Cunts." He muttered after the mention of Adley having been killed.

* Indigo listened. Regrowing limbs wasn't a far stretch. She had seen movies, she was currently standing where there was proof it wasn't some dark tel. It was real. How many were there? Her uncle meet up with one? She pulled her fingers through her hair. So, her cooking didn't suck. A small relief was delivered from that realization. She looked to Jay. "If you bite me will it kill me or make me like you? Or is that safe?" Adley was special. Maybe that was why he was so distant. He had been hurt for being what he was by those like them. Jay certainly hit it on the head. "Your secret is safe with me." She meant it wholeheartedly. "Curses? And what about Kaspar?"

* Adley Reed had been avoiding mentioned Kaspar. They were giving up his secret, too, without his permission. But, the cat was out of the bag and they couldn't really avoid it. They couldn't lie. Could they? They couldn't say "Kaspar can tell you on his own" because that was basically giving it away. Adley cleared his throat. "Curses. Yes. I just killed a plant by touching it and you fall asleep every time I touch you too long. I'm afraid I'm going to put you in a coma one day. It's why I keep my distance," he said, then glanced at Jameson. Kaspar? What should they say about Kaspar?

* Indigo nodded. Well that explained a whole lot. So much for her mission she was on. She eyes the omelet then the fridge. She was feeling a bit weak suddenly standing there so she was heading for orange juice but soon found herself pouring a glass of much needed wine instead. Yes, this was a good idea as soon as the sweetness hit her lips.

‹Jameson Dade› There was a lot of information to process, and Jay and Adley were letting all of it out at once. Or really a lot more than any one person should have had to deal with, but Indie was doing really well. But was it all that big of a shock? She had accepted them already. Being vampires was just another fact to deal with, like finding out someone you care about has a weird aunt, or a stamp collection. "Nah. I mean I could turn you if I drained you out and fed you my blood, but just drinking from you wouldn't turn you no. Maybe there are some vampires who do that, but not me." He said before glancing to Adley as if for confirmation. The truth was that there was so much variation, that it was hard to come up with good solid rules at times. It was like everyone's individual vampirism was tailored to them in one form or another. He moved to stand against Adley, pressing into the man's side quietly, gaze following Indie as she moved across the room. "Kas is a vampire too. He's like me, or the kind of vampire he is, I mean." He added. If Hel was going to be mad at someone for letting the cat out of the bag, it could be him.

* Indigo she lifted up and sat on the counter opposite of where the two were now close together. The space felt odd between them and if she had not already known them as well as she did she would feel like a line had been drawn. While she sipped slowly she knew there was no lines. She felt relieved. Now she knew. They trusted her enough to tell her and certainly cared enough about her not to feed her to the world she just discovered existed. "How many are there? Do you live forever? Never age and all that?"

* Adley Reed threw an arm over Jameson's shoulders. Solidarity. He'd shrugged his shoulders at Jameson's inquiring gaze - Adley's own turning had been a hot mess and he wasn't sure how it had happened, exactly. Except that it had. And he'd never turned one of his own to know the difference, or even what to do. He really was clueless. "Lucky fuckers, really," he said in response to Jameson's outing of Kaspar. What Adley wouldn't give to be their brand of vampire. What he wouldn't give to be able to touch Indigo without fear of eventually killing her. "There are quite a few, I would imagine," Adley said. He didn't know the exact numbers, but there were enough vampire-related crimes in this city to have some vague idea of mass. "So long as we stay in Harper Rock - we can be killed. We can come back. Just in this city, though. Aging? Probably not. We don't have a pulse. It seems scientifically impossible."

‹Jameson Dade› Jay didn't like the distance, and he realized it the moment Indigo moved to rest against the far counter. His nose gave a little twitch and he half turned so he could press a kiss to Adley's jaw before tugging the man towards her, his own arm having slipped around a middle as if to say 'C'mon, she needs us right now'. Maybe that wasn't true though. Maybe she needed the space and the chance to put her thoughts together. But he didn't like it. He didn't want to leave her alone. And maybe some part of him craved the acceptance she had offered so openly. "Not sure how many there are...hundreds maybe?" He asked, glancing to Adley. "I know we can die, but when we do, we...well Adley would know better about that than me." He said, going quiet again, realizing how very little about actual vampirism he knew. Which was when the other man began to explain things, and he simply nodded along, a hand reaching out towards Indigo as if to try and drag her towards them.

* Indigo brow shot up. Well, that was a bit to digest. They were going to look stunning and fabulous forever. Another shove of the overabundance of ringlets with her hand left her thinking it was like finding out the fountain of youth was discovered right under her nose in the Hive. As they moved she felt a calm washing over her. She needed them and the space closing between them meant that she had them still, even more so perhaps. Yes, it felt that right. Jay's hand extended just like it had before the first time in the club and she took it as she left the counter to reach for it. She stepped in and came close. Her lips pressed to each of their cheeks. She smiled to Jay, looked at Adley. "I would be your Sleeping Beauty anytime just to feel you." Her eyes shifted back to Jay. "and you too as well as Kaspar." She leaned into them. "Never letting you guys go. Even if I turn into a wrinkled up prune while you watch."

* Adley Reed wanted to argue. No. Now that she knew, she had to stop completely. As much as he wanted to, though, he couldn't tell her that. He had no idea what he was doing to her - whether she was regaining her vitality the longer she spent from him only to have it taken from her again when he touched her, or whether every single time just took more that didn't regenerate, and thus slowly killing her. He didn't know, and he didn't want to risk it. But she seemed fine, now - even if Adley was leaning mostly toward Jameson and naturally keeping his bare skin away from Indigo's. It was torture. "I'm not sure we'd let you turn into a wrinkled up prune," he said, then frowned. As if he hadn't known what he was going to say until he said it. He turned to Jameson, then shrugged. It wasn't untrue, at least for him. What that meant, though - he didn't say it, or acknowledge it. He just let it hang.

‹Jameson Dade› She was accepting them again, pressing closer, stepping into their embrace. And everything was right in the world. He didn't even know it had mattered so much to him until she was right there, and he could wind an arm around her middle, pulling her in to that kiss she pressed against his cheek so he could reciprocate with his own. She was so warm, and. Well she was everything he had ever needed or wanted in family. They all were. Of course, he didn't say that out loud. Because that would jinx it, that would make it all go away, because he was an addict and nobody really wanted some junking to have a happily ever after with people that made him feel good. "Oh, Indie." He said as he looked over her features. "One day you're going to decide that you want to face eternity with us, and when that happens, you're going to be one of us. And we can make our own little family away from the other vampires, and the dangerous streets. Don't you ever worry about that. You're stuck with us forever." It was meant to be comforting. But was it really? What were Indigo's hopes and dreams? Did she want a family? Children?

* Indigo felt the words vibrate from Jay's chest. Forever. Stuck was not the word she would use. She felt like she was in a fairytale of perfection. She could feel it and smell it pressed against her. There were so many questions but they would wait. Kaspar would get some of them. "I will be with you guys forever. I want to be."

* Adley Reed watched everything that Indigo did; every turn of her features, every twitch of her body. Even as Jameson spoke - he always knew the exact right words to say - Adley watched Indigo. He wanted to know what she thought; whether she would. But now was not the time to ask. She would have to process, first. She could discuss it, think about it. There was no rush. But she did say forever. She would be with them forever. Adley didn't add anything. He just leaned into the two of them in his own odd way, stoic and steadfast.
