Unexpected Welcome (Invite only)

Post by Xylia »

(OOC Note: This occurred on 10/10/15)
Darkness, was all that she could see and was all she could think about at that moment. Her mind drew blanks each time she tried to think of something, and if she was fortunate she would find something to grasp onto only to have it slip away like a sneaky mouse. She grabs at her head in frustration and looked down to find wispy dark tendrils wrapped around her bare body acting as clothes of some kind. Bringing her fingers to tug at the tendrils, it slips through her fingers remaining in place on her body. A frown forms on her face as she glared at it distastefully.

Suddenly, she felt the motion of being thrust out. When she pried her eyes open, she found herself trailing after a familiar male who was taking off into the night with an unconscious figure in his arms. Upon a closer look, she saw that the unconscious figure was a female who looked a whole lot like her... Recognition flashed across her face as she realized it was indeed her he was carrying. She dashed at him and reached out to grab the male only to have herself go through him. She tried again and got the same effect. Lifting her hands to her face, she found herself able to see-through them.

‘Am I… dead?’

All of a sudden, a black chain with the uncanny metallic smell of blood shot out from her physical body and wrapped around her spiritual leg. Before she could react, it reeled her in within a second and she was once again consumed by darkness.

The next time she opened her eyes, she was met with the sight of an unfamiliar place. The 20 year old sighs. This was not something new to her having been kidnapped quite a number of times since young, that did not mean she was any closer to being used to it though. Her blue-grey hues roam the place, taking note of the victorian-ish gothic style theme, or was it punk rock? Turning her head to have a better view of the place, her vision swam before her. The female groans feeling a migraine hit her. What did they do to her this time? This felt like a hangover.

The hotel lobby which served as the common area to the Andras lair was quiet. It was unusual but she suspected the time of year had a lot to do with it. Everyone off doing various other things and such. The woman didn’t mind. She didn’t do so well in crowds anyways and much preferred spending alone time with her husband. Hunkered down in the firm yet comfortable cushioning of the red leather chaise with her feet crossed at the ankles and resting on the glass top side table, tonight Alice Cooper was her company as his music blared into her ears through the tiny buds nestled within.

She was becoming a bit of a recluse in that respect but there was far less drama. having to actually speak to people more often than not just led to drama in Velveteen’s case. Sometimes she very much felt the alien in this strange land where political correctness was beyond ridiculous and people were especially sensitive to words. It used to upset her once but now she had come to the conclusion that is was what it was and she didn’t really give a rats ***. She would explain herself to those that truly mattered though they were few and the rest could go **** themselves.

Tonight, however, she had received a call from Blake who had just turned some young lady but had something rather urgent to tend to and was wondering if she would play babysitter to the unconscious female. Hardly Vel’s idea of fun but he had promised not to be long. So there she was. Kicked back, listening to tunes and filing her nails as the newly turned woman lay unconscious on a nearby sofa. “Fun times.” The vampire drawled as she held up one hand to inspect the work she had done on her nails so far. The points nice and sharp just like Micah liked them. The long nails almost looked talon like, black and dangerous.

Every now and then her sterling gaze shifted to the side to check on the state of her charge though nothing had changed in the time she had been sitting there. “Oh come on Blake. Where are you?” She muttered softly as she reached up and pulled the earbuds from her ears in one swift and slightly annoyed tug. Her nails were done and she was ready to go and do anything else but babysit. At the moment a slight movement caught her attention. It seemed as if the girl was starting to come around and if there was any doubt the groan that followed eliminated that quickly. Her booted feet fell to the floor with a thud and she leaned forward in her seat. “Well...it’s ‘bout time.” Her tone not especially welcoming as she tossed the nail file carelessly onto the smooth glass surface of the small table. “What’s ya name?”

A thud against what sounded like a marble or tiled surface and an uninviting voice disconcerts Kristi, not that she’d been composed in the first place but she was about to get there. She remained immobile until she deemed herself well enough to get up. When she finally did got up, piercing pain shoots up her back and she hisses like a cat spotting its nemesis, but this time in pain. The pain triggers her memories of the previous night and they flood her head leaving her dazed for an instant. Right, the guy who belonged in the looney bin had forced her to drink some sort of black liquid that she swore was coming from his veins. What on earth was he? Talking about wanting her for some position, what the heck... So where was she now?

Now upright, she blinks away the bleariness of sleep adjusting her vision to the dim lighting of the room and warily looked around the place, discovering her fascinating vision as she did so. It was vividly clear even from a distance away. Had it always been that way? She knew she had perfect vision but, had it always been this clear? She looks round the room and manages to spot tiny details like cobwebs and even an ant on the ceiling did not escape her vision. What on earth was this? She was definitely on some kind of drug.

“What drug is this?” She asked in helpless curiosity, suddenly remembering the bored looking lady. She had never experienced anything akin to this drug before. All the previous drugs had left her feeling terrible, and woozy but this one felt surreal.

Looking across from her she took in the woman’s appearance. The first thing she noticed was her black hair that seemed to change into a dark blue under the lights, flawless pale skin and a levelled silver gaze that held her blue-grey ones almost piercingly. She seemed to have been filing her nails judging by the nail file on the coffee table between them, a stark difference to the guns and knife polishing she’d expected. Interesting.

She took a moment to recall what she had been questioned before giving her reply.

“Its Kristi.” She tells her simply before continuing her little expedition around the room hesitantly reaching out to touch things at a few points before blinking like she’d seen something weird or simply could not believe her eyes.

Elbows rested on her leather covered knees and her pale hands hung loosely between her legs as she sat in a most unlady like manner. “No drug.” Her statement ,simple and curt, offered no further explanation as her piercing gaze followed the female’s every movement. One could never tell how a the newly turned would react and it would do no good to let her guard drop at this point. She flopped back against the cool cushioning of the leather lounge. “Kristi.” The name rolling across her tongue as she tried it on and committed it to memory. “Mine is Velveteen. Blake asked me to keep an eye on you until he returned. I don’t suppose you remember anything?”

The ebony haired vampire appeared to go back to inspecting her nails though she kept the woman in her peripheral and was acutely aware of every move she made. For all intents and purposes Velveteen looked bored and somewhat annoyed at having to be here but she was not going to disappoint her childe let alone rick leaving the newbling in the family lair alone. A stranger in the lion’s den could end up dead … or worse.

“You from around here then?” Velveteen hated making the small talk but right now there was little else to do. She had no idea this Kristi had any idea of what was happening or not or even if she knew who Blake was. Best to find out before she started giving out any information.

‘No drug?’ She turned to view the woman, her expression skeptical. She shrugs thinking whatever they gave her might be some secret and continues to walk around. Passing a reflective surface, she paused in her step feeling something off. Backtracking, she stares at the reflective surface. Where was her reflection? Was she not standing in the correct place? She moved around casually, sticking a hand or a leg out while staring at the surface, but still did not see herself. What was with this thing?

Kristi’s attention was redirected upon hearing her name being called. She walked back over to the couch she’d been slumbering in for the past hours, slumping none too gently into it and wincing when she felt the sting of the wound on her back rub against the couch’s backrest. Apparently, whatever she’d been given did not numb any pain she felt.

‘Velveteen.’ Kristi stores away in her mind as she observed the woman before her. From what she could tell, Velveteen wasn’t too happy being here. In fact, she looked like she wanted to be anywhere but here. Kristi could only guess it had something to do with her being here. Maybe, she was the girlfriend of that guy and seeing him bring another woman into their… abode of sorts annoyed her.

“Blake… Ah, that guy that said he had a job for me? Yeah, I do remember, but I’m still unclear about my job scope.” She tells her in a dull tone. For a person who was in such a situation, Kristi was unnervingly calm. Perhaps her countless encounters with such situations had helped after all. Numbed her panic button or something.

Feeling somewhat herself again, she tried to relax so that her wound would stop stinging but for some reason found herself unable to. Now that she thought about it, her body had felt tense the moment she woke. Her senses felt hypersensitive. She was putting the blame on whatever they gave her for this unexplained effects. She wasn't sure if it was just her, but she swore she could feel the lady across from her keeping an eye on her through peripheral vision, and never once did she felt them lift off her being.

“I just moved here recently, though I remember studying here when I was younger… who exactly is Blake anyways? What does he want with me?” She asked frankly, her blue-grey orbs inquiring as she looked directly into the eyes of the woman, trying to pick up whatever signs she could from any subtle body language.

While she was slightly irritated Velveteen couldn't help but me mildly amused at the girls antics as she played in front of the mirror. "Nope." A simple response to a simple questions. "No drugs." She lifted her gaze to follow the other as she returned to the couch. There were going to be questions, she just knew it and how much or how little was she actually expected to say. If she wore a watch she would be checking it right now as she wondered where Blake had gotten to.

The Necromancer nodded, confirming that Velveteen was indeed her name and then began to shake it slowly having no idea what she was on about as far as Blake's plans and a job. Maybe Vel could through this without uttering another word. She could hope and actually thought it possible in the moments of silence that followed. The dark haired Vampire could tell that the youngling was in pain though remained silent. Her hopes, however, were dashed as the woman known to her as Kristi began to speak once more.

The first thing that Velveteen thought was that already it could be problematic. She had studied here? When? How much younger? Did she have friends? Family? Casual acquaintances that might remember her? Something she would certainly be discussing with Blake when he decided to show. And here came the the questions.

Velveteen groaned inwardly and reached for the nail file that she had discarded earlier, attempting to make herself look busy as she stalled for time in search of the answers. "Who is Blake?" The words drawn out in way that made her appear as having to think about the question. "Well...that right there is a really good question." The nail file was flipped carelessly back onto the table, with a look of disgust from the vampire at it's failing to save her from such. "So...do you want the short version or the long version? I imagine the short version will only invoke more questions thereby creating a need for the long version eventually but I am not quite sure you are ready for the long version. Have you ever been dead before?"

Velveteen's monochromatic irises dance with a wicked sort of amusement. Maybe she could make use of this time messing with the young woman's head a bit and then leave her childe to deal with his own progeny. It would serve him right. She grinned as she set a course of action.

What was with these people and reading minds? Were they some kind of professional mind reader? Is that what this place was? A fortune teller or something of that sort? Velveteen's voice drew her out of her thoughts.

“Who is Blake? Well...that right there is a really good question.”

Kristi watched her warily as the older lady threw the nail file back on the glass table looking rather irritated as if the thing had insulted her.

"So...do you want the short version or the long version? I imagine the short version will only invoke more questions thereby creating a need for the long version eventually but I am not quite sure you are ready for the long version. Have you ever been dead before?"

Kristi’s eyes narrowed in suspicion at what sounded like a threat to her ears. The silver eyes that danced with what she deemed to be ill-intention and the grin that accompanied it, only aided in heightening Kristi’s suspicion of the woman’s intentions.

"No but I might as well have been." She informed briefly but did not care to elaborate. Kristi did not trust the woman and knew neither did she.

Tired of these games she was, but they seem to haunt her wherever she went. She had a feeling even in death it would follow her. Was this what they call a curse? How did she get herself into this anyways? Right, that illegal fight club. Just goes to show she should have stayed out of the damned ring and minded her own damn business. Why on earth did she have to jump in? Damn her and her morale. So what if that guy would have gotten punched if she did not interfere?

Kristi reflected on her thoughts and sighed. Now she felt just plain mean. She would just have to do with the fact that she had done a good deed and the guy was probably safe somewhere.

Velveteen arched a brow and watched the woman. "What does that mean? Might as well have been." She really had no idea what to make of the female and she couldn't help but wonder what it was that Blake was thinking. Something about the things she said and her lake of care of the events happening around her she could only assume that Kristi had a death wish of sorts. She narrowed her gaze thoughtfully, those types usually tended to border on the more rebellious side of things. Making that sort of personality essentially immortal spelled trouble more often than not.

The raven-haired vampire stood and smoothed her palms down her leather clad thighs. "Not that it matters much I guess. What is done is done and cannot be undone." She tilted her head a little as she reached out to impress upon the mind if her childe, she was not a babysitter and had other places to be. Recieving no response she sighed and crossed the lobby to the service desk where she had left some bits of pieces of guns that she was working on making better. Velveteen had more guns than she needed. She had more guns for others who also now had more than they needed but she was addicted. It was a craft that provided an end result. Sometimes that result was a beautiful piece of deadly machinery. Other times it was a lump of **** but she continued to chase the elusive. Wanting to do better than her best to date. She picked up a gun barrel and help it up to look through it.

"You are free to explore...but you can't leave. If I have to chase you...it will piss me off and trust me, you don't wanna do that." Her tone flat and obviously bored as she didn't even bother to look up when she spoke, instead taking up a small file and going to work.

Kristi shrugged in response to the question, not seeing why she would explain herself to a stranger. Was this small talk to distract her? Make her drop her guard? Either way, it wasn’t working any time soon. She could be quite a handful if she wanted to, just depended on how long the drug lasted and the kind/type of people she was dealing with. How else did you think she was able to escape all those other human traffickers. Dirty business they did, and this from what she could tell thus far, would be no different. Now, it was just a matter of playing her hand at the waiting game.

“What’s been done exactly?” Kristi raised a brow, beguilingly curious.

Smoky blue hues followed her abductor of sorts, alert instincts refusing to let her lose sight of the older woman. Even more so when she picked up what Kristi knew by heart to be the barrel of a gun. The raven haired woman appeared to be looking at it as if it were her babe, supposing that her eyes weren't still playing tricks on her. This did not tell Kristi much besides figuring that the woman loved her guns. Everyone seemed to have a gun in Harper Rock, even civilians so she could not be sure if this were an illegal business yet.

Velveteen wrote:"You are free to explore...but you can't leave. If I have to chase you...it will piss me off and trust me, you don't wanna do that." Her tone flat and obviously bored as she didn't even bother to look up when she spoke, instead taking up a small file and going to work.

Ah, that favorite line of theirs. Apparently the woman had said it enough times that it bore her too. The other abductors that had managed to get a hold of her as well always spoke that line as if they had not gotten the chance to say it before. To some of their dismay, she had bolted from the scene before they could say it. Just the thought of their expressions caused mirth to bubble up in her, but abstained herself from laughing out loud.

Kristi got up to explore the place once more. Mapping out the place in her mind.

Velveteen ignored the question and while she made herself look busy she kept a constant watch on the newly turned vampire. They could be unpredictable, especially in such cases where they had no clue what happened. What was so important that Blake had just dumped her and run off without going through the basics. Whatever his reason it wasn't really Vel's place.

"It might be a good idea to think about a name change. I can get you new ID but you will need to give me the information. It doesn't have to be done immediately but the sooner the better." The small rasped move back and forth along the inside of the barrel causing fine metal shavings to amass on the marble counter. She couldn't help but grin a little and for a moment...one brief, fleeting moment she felt a little guilty for possibly ******* with the girl's head as she was. Besides...how did you just inform someone that they were a vampire. Unless you were already on the inside of that little story who would believe it?

The dark haired woman stopped filing for a moment and reached out with her mind to touch upon the only other that was almost as familiar as her own. ~Where are you, Babe? I need you at the hotel...asap.~ She didn't go into detail. He would learn the details when he got here. "How ya feelin'?" She asked, her australian accent particularly obvious. Maybe if she were real lucky Kristi might begin to work things out on her own which was going to make this so much easier. She lowered the barrel and rasp and turned to follow the direction the other had wondered. "Hay have you been to that quarantined area lately? You said you were local right? Have you been over there for a look?"
