--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--
Velveteen - Summer was ending. Meaning it would soon be autumn and it wouldn’t be long after that before the frigid temperatures of winter would have them more indoors than not. Well not so much the temperatures as the snow, the freezing rain and all the other general shitty weather types that winter here brought with it. The bike had been taking out this summer as the pair got caught up with other things and most of their alone time had been spent inside, locked away from the rest of the world. Except Texas. Those memories still lingered quite vividly and while they were only there a week, she found herself missing the heat of the hot summer nights. They reminded her of home.
Immediately that thought was pushed far far away. The less she thought some things the better it was. It was how she functioned. It made it easier to just not think about things that would only further complicate her. Emotions...or too many of them were a complication. So instead she thought about the night ahead and what to do with it. There had been some recent goings on with the faction over a strange shard that seemed to sent everyone a bit crazy, the required repairs to the Eyrie had been done and anything else that did need doing was put off for another time. It would be cold soon, best to enjoy what little warmth was left. A telepathic message was sent to her husband who was most likely at the castle killing Lionelli and gathering gun parts in the hope of returning with some lovely pieces for her. The thought made her smile. She did so love it when he brought her things.
Before heading out she checked her phone for the time. He had asked her earlier for spirits and she needed an energy regeneration herself but it could wait. She would do that when they came in. No rush. A couple of things were gathered and put into a backpack to take out to the river with her, including a couple of glasses, a bottle from Ari’s special storeroom, a blanket and an ipod. Music was a must. She could head out, get the fire started and have things set up by the time he arrived.
<Micah> Contrary to what his wife thought he was doing, he was doing something completely different. She’d found the notebook that he used from time to time to write down his thoughts in an attempt to sort through things. He wasn’t angry at her, it hadn’t been a secret but he was pleased to find something written it it from her. It had helped him to understand where her head had been during the time he was in the shadow realm. Her struggle had been real, and had been harder on her than he had originally thought. He had meant to respond to her but there was something that he needed to do first. Attempt to do that was, because this was something he had no clue about.
Micah was at the farm. Building a chicken coop, or a chook pen as Vel called it. She had specifically said that Henry needed one because his crowing was getting on her nerves. The killer had to agree with that. That ****** was loud and was about five seconds away from getting his neck snapped. The Eyrie was no place for a rooster. It wasn’t right to keep the sorry looking ******** in a cage all the time. Granted it was a really good sized cage but Henry belonged on the farm. With chickens. So that brought him to his current task, surrounded by board, tools and chicken wire with that stupid ******* rooster strutting around like it was no one’s business. Stupid thing in it’s stupid ******* top hat. Henry hated Vel but she was extremely attached to the stupid bird. Whatever. Long as she was happy in the end.
Her voice entered his mind as he was starting to clean up for the night. Henry was stuffed back into his cage and Bunny appeared to take him back to the Eyrie. Once the pen was completed he could roam around free so long as the scrawny ******** didn't **** with the plants that were growing there for rituals. Bunny shot him a glare and disappeared with Henry in tow while Micah used his tome to take him back to the Eyrie. After he changed his clothes he dropped the tome and his phone on the table and headed for the portal that would take him to the hotel. She hadn’t been very specific in her message but it shouldn’t be too difficult to find her.
Velveteen - The dark haired female grinned to herself as she felt the arrival of her husband. He was somewhere on top of the cliff, Likely on his way down. After all there wasn’t too many places she would be this far out. She was stretched out on the blanket with her fingers laced together beneath her head as she looked up at the sky. As usual there wasn’t a whole lot to see up there but clouds. Clouds that move slowly across the darkened sky allowing a glimpse of the stars and heavily rotund moon. It was so unlike the sky in Texas that was cloud free and littered with stars. Perhaps it become such that she had further romanticised the whole thing in her head but in her mind, the Texan sky was glorious. It look like someone had just taken a handful of tiny diamonds and casually thrown them , with no reason or rhyme. Yeah. She wanted to go back there. Soon.
Music played from the ipod dock a short distance away and her toe tapped rhythmically along with the beat. It was of course the one her husband had given her on their very first christmas together. The play list had grown since then but the meaning remained the same. “Don’t you land on me.” She said loud enough for her voice to filter upwards so that he would easily hear her. “Move towards the stairs if you plan on superman-ing it.”
<Micah> Faint music met his ears when he stepped outside of the hotel. A human wouldn’t be able to hear it but he could. She was listening to her Ipod wherever she was. best thing he had ever given her. Music had brought them together and even now it was a big part of their relationship. When he couldn’t find the words to tell her the things she needed to hear he played her a song, one that could say it better than he could ever hope to. That Ipod was full of songs just like that and it had become one of her most treasured possessions. Once in awhile he’d swipe it and add more just to see her face light up.
He stopped at the edge of the cliff as her voice drifted up to him, making him laugh when he heard her. He was tempted to take the stairs but now he was going to jump down. It was a pretty steep drop and the thrill of the freefall was almost indescribable. Before he took the plunge so to speak he moved a little further down just as she asked him to. She really would be pisssed off if he landed on her.
Velveteen - His laughter was infectious. She couldn’t help but smile as she pulled herself up to sit corr legged and wait for him. She looked up to the spot where she guessed he would be waiting for him to appear. Of course he would jump. She could imagine him saying stairs were for pussies if she even dared suggest he take that route. Though she would be the first admit, as well as she knew him, he had a tendency to surprise her...and did so often.
She enjoyed the quiet out here. The soothing sound of the fire crackling as it cast a golden glow over the area. The gentle lapping of the river against the banks as it moved steadily along its designated channel. Every now and then a splash could be heard as fish came to the surface to feed. Wolves howling could be heard in the distance and seemed to come from every direction and very occasionally there would be something else. Something that was more...otherworldly that would send a chill down her spine and remind her that there were other dangers out there.
While the fae seemed to not come too close to the hotel she knew they lurked in the shadows just out of sight. Watching. Waiting perhaps. What what she had no clue but again...another thought that was pushed aside. It was too hard and only raised more questions than answers. It was something she really should try and find out though. Ignorance could be bliss until it bit you on the *** because you never saw it coming. “I’m gonna die of old age before you get down here if you don’t hurry up.”
<Micah> He took a couple of steps forward and jumped off the edge of the cliff. The wind rushed past him and he hurtled downward at a breakneck speed. It was better than jumping off the top of beta Towers. Unfortunately it was over much too fast for his liking. His feet hit the ground without much of a sound and the landing was rather graceful or someone of his size. After brushing off his jeans he made his way towards her.
He could see why she liked it so much. The quiet though….without the music she was playing Micah didn’t think that he’d be able to stand it for too long. After the time he had spent in the shadow realm the quiet bothered him. He wasn’t afraid of it, more like unsettled. When he was ready to sleep for the day there had to be a source of sound now be it music or even a fan running. Only then was he able to sleep. And even when he was alone it was the same thing but that really didn’t happen all that often.
“Well hell woman, don’t want that to happen. Besides you’re already old. I don’t want to rush your impending death or anything.” Of course he wasn’t going to pass up the opportunity to tease her about her age. She’d probably think something was wrong with him if he didn’t.
Velveteen - “Mhmm….Kinda like you and your greying hair. The question is….will I still love you when you’re bald. I shall have to think about that.” The smirk betrayed her attempt at a serious expression and soon possessed her pale lips completely. “And fat. Bald and fat and stuck at vampire fat camp.” She leaned back a little as if inspecting his backside. “And by the look of that ***, I’d say it is a real possibility in about…..a thousand years.” She chuckled softly and set about filling the glasses from the bottle before handing him one. “I’d still love ya anyway.”
Her legs were stretched out before her and crossed at the ankles as she leaned back, propping herself upright with one outstretched arm behind. The glass was used to cover the wicked grin she wore and for now she made herself look completely engrossed with savouring the contents. “You should sit down before you fall down you feeble old thing.”
<Micah> He gave a shrug. “Least I still have a nice ***. Don’t much care about grey hair as long as I got that.” A grin was given to her, one of those ones that she liked so well, dimples and all. She was a sucker for that and he took advantage of it at every possible opportunity. “Or being fat for that matter cause you’ll ship me off to vampire fat camp. I’ll be back in shape in no time.” She was the only one that would ever be able to get away with saying that kind of stuff to him. And he liked that she had no problem giving it right back to him.
“Watch who you’re callin old and feeble woman. You’re the cougar round here not me, so I think that classifies you as the old one.” He did as she requested and took a seat beside her, stretching his legs out in front of him.
Velveteen - Her laughter filtered out over the inky, black depths of the river and she leaned into him as he sat, giving her husband a playful nudge. “I am sooo old. I mean, it’s lucky I got turned when I did. One foot in the grave and all.” She gave him a look and shook her head a little. He knew all too well what that smile did to her and exactly when to use it. Resistance was futile. “Guess it is just really lucky for me that yer into the old girls and all huh?”
She chuckled again and shook her head. After ingesting some more of the thick red fluid that half filled her glass she tilted her head a little. Her voice a little more serious in tone. “I was talking to Jupiter the other night. I think I made her mad but we got it sorted, I think. But there is something I need to talk to you about.” Her silvery gaze was cast his way as she wondered what he would think when she told him though another thought suddenly distracted her. “Oh hey...did you find some good parts at the castle tonight? I am running kinda low.”
<Micah> He moved closer and pressed his lips against her forehead. “You’re the only old girl I’ll ever want.” She was far from old, they both knew that but he loved to give her a hard time about the single year between them. Most would be offended by the teasing but not her and it made him love her all the more for it. “Turned at just the right time,” he nodded. “I’d thank that old dude that turned you but his reply to that would probably bore me to tears and age me.” He had never really cared for his wife’s sire even though he’d never really interacted with him.
A curious eyebrow was raised. “I’d ask how you pissed her off but I have a feeling it’s not really important right now. Or it’s not as important as what you want to talk to me about.” He hesitated a bit when she mentioned the castle. Did he tell her what he was doing or should he wait and surprise her with it? “I haven’t made it to the castle yet actually but I’ll go later on and hope that I get something good.”
Velveteen - The kiss brought a soft smile to her lips and could still be felt upon her skin even after he had moved away. More than often she easily forgot about the existence of one Zachariah Staus. He seemed little more than a vague memory of a life long past in a time that that existed a lot longer ago than the actual four years or so. Velveteen’s concept of time was skewed at best in most cases except when it came to memories of her husband. Those she could recall with vivid clarity as if they happened only days ago, not the years that had passed since the pair had met.
She was curious as to where he had been if not at the castle and made a mental note to ask about that later but her newest childe and the issues there seemed more important at the moment. “Well you know she is local right? Her family, friends and such. She is having a hard time coming to grips with things on that things. I told her if she promised to keep her head low and stay out of trouble and...not do anything stupid there I could buy her a little time. Before she was forced to make a decision” She had been watching her finger circle the smooth edge of her glass as she spoke and even winced a little as she finished. Such things could go either way with the man at her side and she had long since given up trying to predict it. “Though I told her if she couldn’t do that or if anyone began to suspect we would have to intervene. That them knowing anything could also put them in danger.” She added hastily.
Though she was beginning to wonder how true that even was anymore until they were completely exposed there was always hope.
<Micah> He listened to her without interruption even though there was so much that he wanted to say. This subject was one that he had a well known stance on and she knew it. That was probably why her tone seemed to be a little hesitant to his ears, because she was just waiting for him to criticize her for even entertaining the idea of buying Jupiter time. It was too big of a risk, one that he didn’t feel anyone should be taking just to spare the lives of Jupiter’s family. Of course not everyone shared his opinion and that was fine but he would fight tooth and nail for those loose ends to be tied up. The sooner the better.
“I don’t think that I need to tell you what I think about that. It should have already been done. Allowing her to continue to interact with her family is a huge risk. The sooner that she fakes her death the better it’s going to be for everyone involved.” He understood why Vel was allowing it to slide for a little longer than she normally would. Jupiter had the potential to stick around and Micah hoped that she did. Very few of Vel’s handled the change well and he knew it bothered her. “I’m sorry but you need to have her get that **** handled. The sooner the better.”
Velveteen - Her head bobbed thoughtfully as he spoke. It was exactly as she has expected and she knew he was right. “I know. I just….It’s not indefinitely. Just a little time for her to work it out in her head and get it straight. As far as I know she has only spoken with them on the phone. I just….” Her brow furrowed and her lips rolled together into a line before she pursed them. “I just think that too we have to be a bit more careful now. More murders or people going missing unexpectedly, with all these people hanging round and the world watchin’ the city is not any better for us either. Just a ...little while for her to work it out, Babe. That’s all.”
She leaned forward and brought her knees up so that her arms could rest across the apex and looked out over the water. Maybe she should have just killed her or just left. So what if the cops got her description? They already had her on file for **** she would rather not be there for thanks to her sister. Maybe it was time to sell the morgue. Not that she spent as much time there now but that would be the first place the authorities would look for her. It was too high profile. She blinked, realising that her thoughts were heading way off the beaten track and miles away from the subject at hand when a sound drew attention to across the water, a little upstream from where they were. “What was that?” She asked as she squinted against the darkness in a bid to gain a visual on whatever it was she thought she heard.
