Tangled [Felicity]

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

<Peter Parkman> Since moving into the apartment, Peter made a habit of taking all of the dogs with him to the animal shelter each night. He had to check in on the business and make sure everything was running smoothly - he would relieve the other employees and would close up shop, making sure the place was organised and sorted for the next day. The apartment was cramped for five dogs, however, and they needed their exercise. So he would take them to work and let them play in the pen out back while he worked. The weather was mild so he wore a pair of jeans and joggers, and just a plain grey t-shirt. The dogs surged around him while he walked, but their lolling tongues and happy pants made him feel lighter. More aloof. Less weighed down by emotions that he didn't know how to handle. He always got a few looks with the dogs, but he ignored them, and did his best to enjoy the fresh air.

<Felicity> Coming back to Harper Rock Felicity had been thinking more and more about getting her own place. She had looked at a few places and tonight she wanted to look at West Towers. They were nice so she understood the price that was being asked. It was still a lot for her to think about though. She decided to walk back home, or just simply walk the city. It was a habit of hers that she had formed. She had been in a good mood, she figured it had to do with getting out more. Felicity had been pushing herself to be around people more often to put herself out there and see what happens. It was all a part of her changing to be better than what she had been.

<Peter Parkman> When walking, Peter made a habit of not making eye contact with anyone. He was not a sociable sort. He was not overly friendly, except to those he knew. And even then, most people thought he was far too blunt and logical for their liking, and assumed he was always trying to be some kind of asshole. These days he kept himself to himself; his progeny were quiet, and he went out enough now in the hope to keep Keara happy. But 'out' consisted only of this; of walking from the Towers to the animal shelter. He'd stop in at the Asylum on the way back, before going home to his apartment. Which he did not leave. There was no other reason to. No one to force him out. No reason to think anyone would care too much, beyond Keara. Ahead, there was another dog tied up to a pole outside of a convenience store. Normally, Peter's dogs were fine with other dogs, but other dogs sometimes were not so fine with Peter's dogs. Ahead, there was a blonde walking toward them; Peter could see disaster about to ensue, but he continued to walk anyway, his head mostly bowed and his knuckles white as he held the leashes tight in his grip.

<Felicity> She continued walking thinking through the apartments she had looked at. She had to keep herself busy, she didn't want to leave again but she didn't want to keep to herself as much as she had been. She glanced around briefly but didn't really take note of anything till she returned to her thoughts. It wouldn't take much to get her attention but as she became tangled into leashes of dogs, with them barkin and another that had been tied up looking like it was ready to eat her, her thoughts left her and she was present in the here and now and she began to fumble with the leashes trying to untangle herself. "I am so sorry" She said shaking her head now mostly at herself.

<Peter Parkman> In retrospect, Peter realised he should have walked on the right hand side. It would have meant the dogs would all have a go at each other but at least the blonde would have been able to pass hassle free. Instead, Peter had stuck to the left, trying to keep his dogs close to his legs and to keep them away from the other one. But of course, chaos ensued. Just as the blonde was passing, too. Hunter was the biggest, and it was Hunter who caused the disruption; as the stranger dog lunged forward, Hunter lunged back. Hunter, who just wanted to play. Hunter, the alpha male, who the other dogs followed. Bright light bathed the footpath from the convenience store, and the music of the radio blared from the open door. Were there even speakers mounted outside, too? "No, no... they're usually so well behaved," he mumbled, trying his best to pull the dogs back. "They won't hurt you. I mean... mine won't," he clarified. He wasn't too sure about the other dog. The one that was not his.

<Felicity> She was working on getting herself untangled from the chaos, she could hear the music blaring and then heard him speaking. She didn’t get a chance to look up once she heard him speak of the other dog. Instead she moved to get further away from that dog. However of course that only caused more havoc on her. She continued fumbling with the leashes and finally got her right leg free. Of course between untangling herself she ended up petting a few of the dogs. She was an animal lover and she missed her pets, the ones she hadn’t bought with her to Harper Rock. Before she could get lost into her thoughts, the music playing on the radio caught her attention. It was an interesting sounding song, with an eerie sense to it. Looking up at the man who had been walking the dogs she smiled, and as she heard more of the song she found herself completely lost for words.

<Peter Parkman> Most of Peter's attention was on his dogs. He needed them to sit still. To heel. But they weren't listening. They were far too excited; some of them with the other dog, and some of them with the blonde. They were suckers for attention, and were friendly to anyone they thought worth their time. Vampires didn't bother them, given that they lived with one. The music didn't really register with Peter, either, but he could hear it. Like an intoxicating scent, it wormed its way into his brain so that when he finally looked up and caught the blonde's eye, he was hooked. If he could blush, the colour would have flooded his cheeks. As it was, his lips curled into an awkward, boyish grin and, for a few moments, the dogs were allowed to do as they pleased. Peter hardly paid any mind to the person now exiting the convenience store, now taking control of their own dog far better than Peter was managing to take control of his.

<Felicity> She hadn’t even noticed the other dog being taken by its owner and lead away. The minute that he had looked at her she was overwhelmed. She stood up now, no longer paying much attention to the dogs that seemed to still be crowding between them. She smiled a warm smile as she looked at him. Her mind raced to catch up to what she was feeling, but she couldn’t rationalize it in any way nor did she want to now. She stood there smiling for a few moments before attempting to walk and realizing she wouldn’t be getting far as she still had leashes around her left ankle. “Hi.” She stuttered out trying to form a coherent thought. “I’m Felicity” She finally managed as she continued smiling to him while trying to free her left leg so she could move.

<Peter Parkman> It didn't matter that they were blocking the entrance to the convenience store. It didn't matter that Peter had previously, subconsciously, been counting his steps. The numbers were lost, and though the dogs were now calm, both their feet were tangled up in the leads. Peter was tempted to just let them go. But at least his wits were strong enough to withstand the urge. Even though his heart didn't beat, he felt a jolt in his chest, and that addictive feeling of adrenaline rushing through his limbs. He thought maybe it had something to do with the hair; blonde. Like Jersey's. That's what this felt like. It felt like that first time he and Jersey had kissed. It was a surge of warmth; a realisation of... and here, Peter's logic kicked in. Surely not? Surely there was no such thing as love at first sight? And yet... "Peter," he said. Just his first name, when usually he gave first and last. He shook his head. His brain was trying to catch up. Trying to make sense. But the warmth was so overwhelming that in the end, he gave up trying to make sense of anything. "Have we met before?"

<Felicity> She continued to have that warm smile. She felt alive again something she hadn’t felt like than her first few months in the city. She felt like herself again, not the jaded version she had become since returning to Harper Rock this last time. Every happy emotion she could feel, she did. She tried to understand the emotions she knew what it was, it was love, however a little voice, a quite small voice in the back of her mind told her that isn’t even possible. However she did, and as she focused on him she could feel what he was feeling, he felt what she did love. Her smile only grew then, it took her a minute to respond to his question but finally she did as she managed to wiggle her foot free of the leashes. She stepped over to him now, almost touching but not. “I don’t think so.” She would finally answer with a smile that for the first time in a long time was a genuine smile and not forced.

<Peter Parkman> Peter wasn't shy. He was blunt. And he liked to ask questions, when there were things that he didn't understand. He had stopped trying to convince himself that the feeling was wrong, but he was trying to discover the source of it. If they had not met before, then why? What about this woman had him feeling so... light-headed? A passer-by swore at the two of them, blocking the path and the entrance to the store. Peter, for a moment, was distracted, before he cleared his throat. "... do you want to go somewhere?" he asked. He had no way of telling that Felicity felt the same, but there was something about her smile, and the way she was looking at him. And the way he felt... surely it had to be reciprocated?

<Felicity> Hearing his question she thought briefly about where they could go. “Um sure, I don’t know where to go though.” She told him honestly as she stood there staring at him. She would blink a few times as she tried to understand her fascination with him now. With a man she didn’t know. It was there though, it was undeniable what she felt. “We can go anywhere, do you have a place in mind?” She didn’t have a clue where to go, sure there was the family home but she didn’t think that would be the best of places to go. Standing there she continued to smile to him as she tried to figure out why she felt the way she did about him. Her smile never faded even for a moment. His dogs seemed to encircle them now and she glanced at the leashes before back to him. She wouldn’t mind being tangled up with him, of course she already felt as if she was though.

<Peter Parkman> Peter hadn't thought ahead, when he asked that question. Which was completely unlike him. Peter, who liked to have everything planned to a T, who never once wanted to wander off course. And now here he was, proposing to 'go somewhere' with a stranger. Though of course, he had never meant it like that. He, too, glanced down at the dogs. Anywhere public and indoors would be out of the question with the dogs in tow. He glanced to the right; up ahead, there was a park. "To the park? I... should be going to work but I have questions," he said. Blunt as always. Brutally honest. He was full of questions. And they needed to be answered. The need to answer them was far greater than the need to go to work. Alarm bells screamed in the back of his head; this was wrong. There was something completely wrong about this, as if it were a moment of bliss and the whole world would come tumbling down if he indulged. But the rabbit hole was in front of him, and something or someone had given him a violent push. And this woman was coming with him.
