Not A Usual Target [Kahlin and Paige]

Post by Axel Rosen »

For a while there it appeared to him like his weeks and days and months were all starting to become one singular thing that is this thought. This obsession. Usually he doesn’t hunt those that are low criminals, or criminals at all, this time. This time is different. This thought. This Maffia lord. Don. Lieutenant? He’s not sure of the word that these gangster use. A gangster is a gangster and it honestly doesn't matter what their title is. All that matters to him is that they can bleed and that they can die. This one imparticular, owning several businesses on top of being in charge of a fairly reputable gang. Axel knows of a couple of the hideouts of the group and he’s been working one imparticular. It’s a rather large bank office, but it’s not the building itself. Axel assumes that it’s the top couple floors or so.

He eyes over the layout of the floors over and over again. Looking at the papers then pictures of the building. The building says it only has ten floors but there is obviously twelve. He can count them, not to mention the fact that there is more than likely a few basement levels. Trying not to jump to conclusions, he looks over his swords. The two of them. The St. James ******** sword that he got from some woman and the other sword, shorter in length but light weight and good for an offhand. This sword is named Hera. It’s his personal creation. He retrieved it from his girlfriend just for this specific raid. He didn’t exactly tell her why he has taken it. He doesn’t want her to worry too much about what he’s doing. He might get hurt and he doesn’t want that to be a thought for her unless it actually happens.

The vampire isn’t ignorant though. He has a plan and a contingency is a part of that. The first part of the plan is that he’s not going alone. Axel will be taking his childe Paige with him. This ensures two things. The first is that he’ll have a partner incase **** gets heavy. The second is that there will be someone else for the contingency if they should need it. Though, he assumes that they will not need it. The second part of the plan is silence. Now that he and his childe both have powers of shadows then the two of them can make it up to the upper floors without much resistance at all. One at the upper floors the last step of the plan is pretty simple. No survivors. He says this outloud as well as thinking it. Anyone that could be a witness has to die and they have to do it quickly.

His hand moves for his phone and he lifts it to text his childe. “Paige, don’t know if you’re busy but if you could please meet with me and we could go over something. I have a special hunt for the night.” His text is fairly straight forward, and he thinks that it will peek Paige’s interest but he could be wrong. He packs up his things and waits for the reply from her. He is eager to feast from this human and then end his life. It may be a good thing for him to kill someone this high up in the ranks of criminals. So much blood on his hands. Perhaps the two of them are tied with deaths of the innocent. Doubtful, but soon the debts of the lives he’s ended will be transferred in balance to Axel.

Paige was being spooned quite firmly by her mate when she heard her work phone's vibration and opened her orange eyes. The contortionist's arm deftly shot out, nimble fingers expanded to several times their length, so that she could snatch it up before it woke Nishaa. A toothy grin gleamed in the new evening's fresh moonlight when she saw that her sire had plans for an evening out. She hoped that he would give her some slack with the corpses this time. It had been a while since Paige had experienced the commotion of a good slaughter. Things were peaceful in the women's new apartment. There was never screaming unless the cat's yowling before he was fed was counted. Paige didn't count her own cries of ecstasy as they simply were not the same.

No, she thought as she carefully slid from Nishaa's embrace and dressed herself, what she needed was fear-screams, spiced with some pleading and reeking of desperation. Memories of her last murder, which had taken place much too long ago, replayed themselves while the girl got ready. She used a web camera to see her own face and comb out her raven hair-- she could not see herself in the mirror. Clothes, fangs brushed, hair brushed, Paige texted Axel. "Where do we meet?"

It was way after hours, but the woman was still busy at work. All but the bodyguards that she had no authority to order away had left to join their families for the night. So nearly alone she sat, on the top floor at nearly midnight, but that was not unusual for her. She was a workaholic. Though tonight was all legal business. Although her bank was used by her father for money laundering and as a business front for the Mafia in Canada, Kahlin tried to keep things as legit as possible. Oh, she wasn't ashamed of her father's business. Far from it. She was his only child and she would one day take over his position. Just this bank was her baby. She had worked her way up from nearly the bottom to sit where she was, and as far as she knew, Vincent Di Bendentto had nothing to do with her status. In fact, the only mention of her father anywhere in the bank was a simple framed photo on her desk of her and dear old dad at her Confirmation at age 14. That had been shortly after her mom had passed from breast cancer. Which Kahlin herself had recently been diagnosed with. She had yet to begin treatment, or tell her father. That would be the hardest part. Telling her father. She didn't quite know how she would, or if she could do it.

But none of that was on her mind at this moment. No, she was trying to write up a buyout deal for a smaller chain of banks in the area. Acquiring the deal would increase her corporate size by almost 50 percent. It would pay for itself in about eight years. Being long time acquaintances with the current board didn't hurt her chances either. The woman was too far zoned in to her work to know anything odd was going on in her building, and nor did her gaurds notice anything. At least for the moment.
