Chapter Impact Thread Ideas

Alright! So welcome to chapter 3. Some of you might be wondering what kind of roleplay you could be doing to influence the chapter, or some might be wondering why you should care at all. So this thread will be me giving some ideas and just generally explaining (cryptically) where things could go.

Some of your characters might already be aware (IC) that X candidate is a thrall, Y is a demi-fae, and Z is backed by criminals. But there's a lot more to find out about them. While some of these things might be revealed via in-game rumours, rare dirt to dig up and so forth, we're going to leave some of these secrets open to be found via roleplay. So, if you're curious about a specific detail regarding a candidate's motivations or how they might change the shape of the story and the game, a roleplay impact thread could be used to get me to reveal a certain specific secret about them.

Or, if you already know who you want to support and your character is going all out with it, you can use impact threads to directly shift any of the sliders, quite significantly (compared to the in-game actions at least).

So here's some basic thoughts about what you could do to influence the sliders:

Positively
- Roleplaying any of the things you can do in-game to help a candidate is an obvious choice.
- If you're a well-known figure in the city (or your thrall is) you could roleplay being on a debate show or similar.
- Supporting one particular issue the candidate stands for. For example, lobbying or demonstrating for laws on gun control or the quarantine zone.
- Artificially creating problems to make them seem more serious, in order to give a specific candidate more importance. For example, instigating a gang drug war with some clever manipulation could make people vote more heavily for the candidate most in favour of stopping gang violence.

Negatively
- Roleplaying an assassination of an important staff member of one candidate's campaign (you cannot assassinate a candidate ... yet! ;) ).
- Manipulating events to attempt to show voters how bad a specific policy would be. For example, raising zombies in the city in order to make the public believe that the QZ must be destroyed immediately, and that the army cannot keep the city safe any longer.
- Smear campaigns or similar.
- Planting false evidence or 'dirt' on a candidate.
- PVP roleplay threads where two groups work against one another to negatively impact two opposing candidates (bonus points if the dice roller is used or if there are PVP battles used to settle a thread).
- Any thread waging war on one of the main supporters of a candidate. For example, criminals, the Hebigumo demi-fae (wiki article about those demis coming soon), or NPC vampire groups. This war doesn't even need to be literal violence, so the possibilities with this are pretty endless.

Remember, the following things will have a much greater impact on the chapter sliders:

+ More people involved in a thread.
+ More words per thread.
+ More posts in the impact thread.
+ More imaginative and interesting ideas.
+ Logical ideas which would realistically shape the story.
+ Leaving the thread open to anyone to join (with a number limit if you wish).
+ Using the hardcore ruleset, with dice rolls and PVP fights when needed.
+ GMed threads, by a neutral party.
+ Getting the thread finished earlier in the chapter will also help slightly, as the sooner you can sway people's minds on who to vote for, the more of a snowball effect that would realistically have if this wasn't just a story.

You don't have to do any of these things, but each of them will help your impact thread shift the slider or reveal greater secrets.

I thought about using this Idea, but I don't think i could follow through with it, so i'll post it out here for people to use if they want.

A vampire/group of vampire's using their telepathic powers to "Whisper" thoughts and ideas of suicide and depression into the candidates minds. It would be even better with some of the telepathic RP powers. This could be taken further and form a secret society of these vampires. Taking out humans, or atleast destroying their emotions and bringing them down.

If I can come up with anymore, i'll post them, and anyone who wants to use them, please do, and send me PM with a link to the RP, i'd love to see how these ideas work out.

I actually like this concept, in the sense of manipulating individuals close to the candidates...especially with 'extracurriculur' abilities like Dream Walking and Image Telepathy. That could be some incredibly fun rp.

Feel free to use the idea. Dream Walking, Image Telepathy, and Memory Telepathy were the three RP powers I seen that would make things fun. And this can be taken so much further then candidates. You could potentionally do it to anyone. Judges, cops, big business owners, just normal people, to attempt to manipulate any of them into doing things.

Exactly. As you'd referenced it...a secret society gathered to sway the direction of things in the groups' favor or direction of whatever ideals they see fit to empower. Alot of possibilities to it.

What about interacting with any of the candidates or their staff in roleplay? Harry is the Police Commissioner so I'm sure he would have already asked his secretary to arrange 'lunch dates' with all of them to see if they can be bought.
