The aim of this competition is to garner a good writing community. Unfortunately it is not a solo competition - so no, there won't be an opportunity to solo if no one joins. If you would like your open thread to turn into a solo, contact a staff member so that it can be moved into the Stories and Journals board.
If you start a thread and no one joins, you will still receive a small participation reward.
There is a skipping rule - I've added it to the guidelines:
If 48 hours pass and there has been no response from a participant, that participant can be skipped (if there are three or more participants).

With a 48 hour skipping rule, should there only be three people in the thread and one flakes after one post, then you MUST start your thread today and you and the other MUST post immediately after the 48 hours have past to reach the 20 posts before the deadlline - with maybe 24 hours grace.
Just thinking of a worst case scenario here. Because things do happen IRL that take someone out of plans they'd had IC.

The way I see it, it's with any open thread. Sometimes there's an unspoken agreement by the participants that there'll be an order, and that order must be kept. Sometimes, though, it's open slather. People post with no heed of order - I gave 48 hours because 24 hours seemed too short a time. I know I work, and sometimes I can't get posts up within 24 hours. Other times I can get three posts up in a day/night. There is no dictating that there has to be an order kept, but I would hope that all participants would keep each other informed OOC.
Worst case scenario is that this competition falls flat on its ***. And no one joins any threads. Remember - this is about both joining and opening threads. Both joiners and starters will go in the draw.

For this I will refer you to the rule we have regarding roleplaying with 'yourself':
4. No posting solo threads in City Streets - only in Stories/Journals.
If you do, we'll move it and ask you not to do it again. If you keep doing it you'll be in trouble with possible warnings and/or loss of RPP. This can include posting entire threads with 'yourself' meaning all characters on your same IP. You can RP all of them in a thread if you like, but it should not be purely for RPP gain.
If it is a thread with other players in, I don't see a problem. If it's just roleplaying with yourself for the sake of reaching the required limit in order to gain the participation RPP, then no. It's a competition we have created to try to garner a community of writing - it would be preferable if you tried to interact with characters played by other players.

Yes, but there's also the amendment to that one where if it's for a competition or a chapter thread etc - then that rule doesn't hold true as much.
But I wasn't thinking just RP'ing with myself. lol
Just, all my main charries are in the SR at the moment. I'd thought that maybe rather than having more than one SR RP, there could just be one big one that 2 or 3 of mine could join. But I've started 2 now. So we'll see where they go and what happens with them.
Might even chuck Emanuel into one of them to give people who join something to talk about.
If you've started a thread already and someone else starts one that you want to join, do you need 5 separate posts in each thread or do they concurrently accumulate to the needed 5?
