Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Odin paced back and forth across his bedroom. He was on edge and had been for some time. He hadn't killed anyone in a while, hadn't stalked and planned; things he did as a human. Now he was evolved - all the more suited for that type of activity.
"I'm a bloody Vampire!" he growled out to no one.
Discretion was always key, but it was becoming even more difficult to do anything, with people planting cameras everywhere, even in places they had no right to put them.
He left his room and went downstairs, his mind itching. Getting on the computer wouldn't solve anything. Even looking at pictures of propeller accident victims wouldn't help him relax. As he walked past the computer on his way to the kitchen, something caught his eye. One of the end tables in the living room had been moved to the other side of the couch. There was a blunt in a glass ashtray centered on the table.
"******* Morgan!" he yelled a moment before he picked up the ashtray and slung it across the room. It shattered against the wall. He continued into the kitchen muttering under his breath.
Morgan was definitely a bad influence on Marta. How the hell was his assistant supposed to help him with anything when she was either drunk or stoned? The young woman had never touched the stuff before Morgan decided to share her friendship....and bad habits with Marta.
Odin turned on the sink and splashed water on his face. He grew increasingly agitated, his mind back on killing. Then his thoughts went to the fact that things were becoming increasingly unstable in Harper Rock. Cameras were planted all over the place, the city alert level was barely acceptable, cops were everywhere, certain factions wanted to out the Vampiric community.
"It's all ******* unstable," he growled, not including himself in the evaluation.
Odin dried off his face and started to head back into the living room when he heard the front door to his apartment open. A half-crazy sneer curled his lips as he wondered who was stupid enough to enter his place at this particular moment. He waited until he heard the person walk a few footsteps into the living room, before he exited the kitchen. He quickly locked the front door, and then turned to see the very unfortunate soul who would help him ease his mind.
"Well, well, well," he said as he grinned evilly at the woman. "Wrong place, wrong time."
He stood in front of Morgan for a moment, imagining his hands encompassing her throat; of course he wouldn't strangle her right off. He'd hear her scream first. He'd tear at her flesh, make her bleed, and then give her a moment or two to feel like she might have a chance to escape, before doing very bad things to her.
Odin bared his fangs and lunged at her. He resisted the urge to bite her. Though it was a safety net for Vampire-kind that their victims got a bit of memory loss with a bite when feeding, he wanted her to remember everything he would do to her before he killed her.
He grabbed Morgan up and spun her around, then threw her onto the couch. In an instant he was astride her, pinning her down. He ran his left hand down the side of her face, pushing back the urge to shove his thumb into her eye socket. His right hand made a trail down her chest to rest on her side. He dug his nails into her ribs and leaned close to her and said, "We are going to have a bit of fun now."

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Coming home to the house in Willow Court, Alexandrea was loaded down with shopping bags. Some of the items she had actually paid for this time. "Morgan?" Alex called out, hoping for an extra pair of hands. It took the Allurist a moment to remember that she had given the young woman the night off, to play poker with a girl friend.
Alexandrea figured that the friend was probably Marta and grinned. The young woman who worked for Odin was a good influence on Morgan. Despite her thrall's no longer being a junkie, the girl still liked to party way too much.
As she unpacked the food and started putting it away, Alex noticed a few bottles of wine were missing and sighed as she shook her head. One of these days she was going to have to have a little chat with Morgan. Groceries taken care of, the shopping bags with some new clothes were taken upstairs and the ones that Alexandrea had gotten for Morgan set on the young woman's bed before Alex took her own to the washer.
Across town as Alex was thinking about her thrall, her thrall was just thinking about how much longer she could keep counting cards before her friend Marta caught on. With a grin she let herself into the apartment that her friend shared with her boss, Odin. The two gals had already made arrangements, so Morgan knew Marta was expecting her. What Morgan didn't expect was that her friend's boss would be home that night.
Her heart skipped a beat as Odin locked the door and gave her a look of pure evil. Taking a few steps back, Morgan swallowed nervously and tried to not show fear. The man had always scared the piss out of her but he hadn't ever tried to hurt her. He was friends with Morgan's boss and friend, Alexandrea. More than just friends, Morgan had often speculated. His words stuck fresh fear into her heart when he spoke however, and Morgan felt like she had ice water in her veins as the vampire bared his fangs.
Before she could blink, or think, let alone run... his hands were on her and she was suddenly on her back with the large man on top of her. She opened her mouth to scream but no sound came out, she was so terrified. Her eyes practically bugged out of their sockets as Odin ran his hand across her and then she did scream, when she felt his nails dig into her side.

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Marta fumbled with the keys as she attempted to unlock the apartment door.
"This door wasn't locked," she thought, as she distinctly remembered unlocking the door for Morgan before she ran to the corner to get a bag of Friday's Bacon and Cheddar chips and a new deck of Bicycle cards. She had knocked over a glass of wine the last time they were playing poker and had soaked the deck.
Marta started to open the door slowly, that is, until she heard Morgan's scream. Without thinking for her own safety, she bolted through the door, grabbing the bag of chips tightly in her hand as though it would have been some kind of formidable weapon. She didn't know what to expect, but seeing Odin restraining Morgan on the couch was probably not on the top of her list.
Odin wasn't usually in his apartment at this time. She was pretty good at knowing what his schedule was, unless for some reason tonight, he had been hanging out on the second floor. Marta didn't go up there. She knew it was a place that she would never want to venture to, and kept to the main floor.
After a moment Marta found her voice and simply yelled out, "Morgan!"
At that point, Odin raised his head and met Marta's eyes. It looked like she was staring at a mad man.
"Oh ****," she whispered, realizing how bad the situation really was. She was unsure of what to do next. Bludgeoning the Vampire with a bag of potato chips didn't seem like the wisest move, though he looked like he was a few chips sort of a bag at the moment.
His attentions went back to Morgan, so Marta quietly placed the snacks and deck of cards on the bookshelf and tip-toed up to reach the top of the shelf. She knew there was one up here and in a moment her hand closed around the hilt of a dagger. Marta cautiously approached the couch, knife at the ready. She figured this wasn't going to go real well, but she had to try to save Morgan.
When she got close enough to try to divert Odin's attention with a stab to the back, his arm shot out and he tightly grabbed her wrist and slammed it down hard on the back of the sofa. The dagger clattered to the floor.
He yanked Marta's arm, bringing her face close to his.
"Keep it up and you're next!" he growled at her before he shoved her back hard.
Tears started streaming down Marta's face, not so much for the pain she now felt after crashing against the bookcase, but because of the fact that she couldn't stop Odin from what he was doing. It looked like he was going to kill Morgan.
In desperation she called out, "Alexandrea will be very upset if you hurt Morgan!"
Upon hearing this, Odin paused for a moment. He glanced at Marta, and then looked down at Morgan. Several bruises were already showing on her neck and shoulders, and a trickle of blood crept from the corner of her mouth, and he hadn't even gotten started.
Alexandrea will be very upset if you hurt Morgan.
I haven't even gotten started.
Seeing that her comment made some kind of impact, Marta yelled out to Odin again, "You will upset Alexandrea, very much. You have to stop hurting Morgan."
Odin's mind cleared a bit and noticed how terrified Morgan was. He promptly got off of her, and stood up. He turned to Marta and simply growled. He was angry that she had spoiled his fun, but relieved that she had pointed out the obvious bad consequences to his actions.

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
The light bulb was out in the laundry room and Alexandrea got out a step stool to change it. As smoothly and gracefully as the blonde could move when doing a heist or when fighting, outside of that she tended to be quite a klutz.
She didn't bother to take off her heels and when she got up on the step stool, she slipped and landed on her knees. Hard. She heard a crack and bitched quietly to herself before using to ability to heal herself from any hindrance the broken kneecap might be. After that, she decided to leave the odd jobs to Morgan from now on. Alex was actually paying the girl to work for her after all. Her thrall was no indentured servant.
The new light bulb in Alexandrea's hand however was fatally wounded after doing a Humpty Dumpty impression that left shattered glass all over the floor. No way was Alex leaving that mess. After sweeping the floor she went out to the living room to relax.
Stretching out on the sofa, Alexandrea switched on the television and saw that one of Morgan's favourite shows was on. She almost called out to the young woman before she remembered the girl was out. Alex hoped her friend was having a good time but staying out of trouble. She sat up quickly and shut of the set. Something tugged at the edge of her thoughts and her stomach felt odd. For some reason, Alex felt something was... off. She got out her cell and texted Morgan, just asking for the young woman to check in, then got up to go make some tea. There as no reason to be worried, so why did Alexandrea feel apprehensive out of the blue?
Morgan didn't even hear Marta come in, the sound of her own heart beating against her chest was all the young woman could hear. But she saw the knife and screamed again as Odin grabbed it from Marta and then threatened her as well. Morgan looked anxiously at her friend. Was the vampire going to kill them both? Why had he snapped now? She felt a vibration in her pocket of her phone but ignored it as it slipped from her clothes and onto the floor. Odin had backed off some and Morgan wasn't about the let the slim chance to escape pass by. **** the phone.
She jumped off of the couch and tore out of the still open door running past the elevator doors and throwing open the door to the stairwell. She took the steps two and a time and then three, racing down and away from the floor she had come from recklessly. She thought she heard sounds above her and desperate, starting jumping the rails from one stair case to another, something she had seen Alexandrea do many times.
But Morgan was no vampire like Alex, she was a young human who wasn't very athletic and not in the best of shape. Disaster was inevitable and the brunette took the last few flights head over heels as she fell head first and didn't come to a stop until her broken body lay at the bottom of the stairs.

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Marta was elated to see that Odin had stopped attacking Morgan. She got slowly up off the floor, rubbing her back. She was able to take one step toward her friend to console her before Morgan was running out the door, leaving her cell phone behind.
"Morgan, wait!" Marta called out, and then bent over to retrieve the phone. Odin grabbed it from her before she could answer it.
"Not a word of this to anyone, do you understand?" he growled at her. Marta nodded slowly. Odin shoved the cell phone into his pocket and said, "I've got to go get her. Stay put."
She may have taken off like a bat out of hell, but he'd easily be able to overtake her. He needed to get her back inside and calm her down...better yet, have Marta calm her down; he highly doubted Morgan wanted him anywhere near her.
Odin started quickly down the stairs, he could hear Morgan was moving fast. He bent over the railing to see if he could spot her on one of the lower levels. He was about to leap straight down the middle of the stairwell and grab her as he made his way back up when he heard a loud clatter below, and then the undenyable sound of a body falling down stairs. He leaned over the rail once again to see Morgan crash down in distorted angles, and come to rest at the bottom.
"Oooooooooooh ****," he whispered.
The door to the stairs opened above and Marta was standing a few flights above him. She glanced at him, then followed his gaze to the bottom of the stairwell.....then screamed. In the next moment she was glaring at him with hate through tear-filled eyes.
Odin frowned and looked up at her. "First of all, shut the **** up," he warned. "We'll be lucky if no one heard her body fall down the stairs, let alone your screaming. Secondly, I didn't ******* push her."
He pointed toward the door and said, "Now go keep watch, I'm going to get her." He didn't wait for any protest or reply, nor did he care to. He needed to get Morgan's body back into his apartment before people started showing up and asking a whole lot of questions he didn't want to answer.
Once at the bottom of the stairs he scooped her up carefully and then made his way quickly back to the living room. After laying her body on the couch, he latched up the front door, then went back to assess the situation, which was in no way a good one. Morgan's neck had an unnatural angle to it, and in addition to the bruises he had given her, she had a whole lot more bruises and scrapes. She was a mess.
Marta stood alongside the couch sobbing quietly, stealing the occasional glance at Odin.
"I did NOT push her down the stairs!" he exclaimed. He felt like smacking Marta, but figured he had done enough damage for one night. Yet the damage was not over, not by a long shot. Odin retrieved Morgan's phone from his pocket and dialed Alexandrea.
When she picked up, he stated, "Morgan has had an accident. I'm going to summon you here to my apartment," then abruptly hung up the phone.
He walked into his study and summoned Alexandrea. Some things were better said face to face, but he didn't wish to have her pop in over her lifeless friend. The shock would be enough when he told her that Morgan was dead.
Stay put."

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Alex's cell started to ring, 'Girl's Just Wanna Have Fun' and she grabbed it up and flipped it open feeling like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders. It was an idea she had gotten from her friend, Kira's cell. So that you knew who was calling by what song made you think of them.
"Morgan! I'm so glad to hear from you! You're okay, right?" Alexandrea said in a rush, she was so relieved to get a call from her Morgan. But Alex didn't hear Morgan's voice in reply. Instead, she heard Odin. She always loved to hear his voice but hearing it now, shocked her. She sat numb as she heard Odin's words:

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Odin was standing next to the fireplace. It hadn't been lit in a long time. Before he summoned Alexandrea, he got the logs burning. Luckily it didn't take long. He did not wish to prolong Alexandrea's distress.
"Light a candle, and all that ****," he muttered as the flames licked higher against the brick.
He called forth one of the few people he really cared about. She appeared before his eyes in the study. Sighing heavily, Odin raised his arms and placed a hand on either side of her face. He pushed the thought of kissing her from his head. It would have been one of meaning and support but, for some reason, he didn't think it appropriate.
"Morgan fell down the stairs," he said, noticing how the flames from the fireplace played in Alexandrea's sad eyes. "She..." he paused for a moment.
She did not survive
She passed away
He pushed those thoughts from his head and bluntly stated, "She is dead."
He instinctly wrapped his arms around her. He had not intented to do so at all, it just happened.
"She's in the livingroom," he whispered in her ear.

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Alex just sat stunned in silence as her ears heard Odin speaking, but didn't her brain didn't hear him at all. Some part of her knew what he was telling her and she just didn't want to hear it. She knew he put his arms around her but she didn't feel it. She didn't feel anything just then.
But what if he was wrong? What if Morgan could be saved if they got her to a hospital? Hope, however false, roared to life in her chest and she raced out of Odin's study looking around for her young friend. She heard Marta crying and turned to see Odin's thrall moaning over Morgan who lay still as death on the couch.
"nooo" Alexandrea moaned, and went to Morgan's side. Her head laid on the young human's chest and Alex believed that she she could hear something. It was faint, but she was convinced it was hope.
"Odin, please. Help me. We have to get her to a hospital, there is still a chance!"
The blonde looked up into Odin's eyes, her eyes pleading with him to tell her that everything was going to be okay. That Morgan would be fine.
Deep down, Alexandrea knew he wasn't going to say that. That if he did, he would be lying to her. But as her stricken face looked up into his and their eyes met, she slightly begged him with all of her being to tell her what she wanted to hear.
But what if he was wrong? What if Morgan could be saved if they got her to a hospital? Hope, however false, roared to life in her chest and she raced out of Odin's study looking around for her young friend. Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Odin followed Alexandrea out of the study to the living room. Alexandrea seemed in shock. She leaned over to Morgan's chest to see if she could hear a heartbeat. She should have been able to hear that if there was any, without leaning over.
"Her neck is broken. She was dead before she hit the bottom," he said, hoping it didn't sound too harsh.
"I tried to get her...." he led off. At that point Marta sobbed even harder. This whole evening was a huge cluster ****.
Odin growled under his breath to himself, "I tried..."
Odin saw some type of hope in Alexandrea's eyes. The kind of hope to keep one from confronting the truth..the facts. He slowly shook his head no."Odin, please. Help me. We have to get her to a hospital, there is still a chance!"

Re: Wrong Place, Wrong Time
Alexandrea started to sob along with Marta, she turned away from Odin and closed her eyes. She prayed to Nox and to Morgan's own Christian God both for some kind of miracle and then pleaded with Morgan her self.
"Please don't go... don't leave me? I don't want to lose you!" Alex grabbed Morgan's hands in her own and looked at her friend's battered and broken body. It seemed like everyone Alexandrea loved most either rejected her or died on her. She couldn't let ago of anyone else.
She bit open her own wrist and placed it in Morgan's mouth, making all sorts of bargains with Nox if the Goddess would just let Morgan come back as a vampire. She waited with diminishing hope and then turned to Odin and Marta.
"What the hell happened? Why was she even on the stairs? Morgan's too lazy for that, she always takes the elevator!"
