Doc: Sheba

Catherine Nilson: Cat: *stares at animal dumbly*

Catherine Nilson: "What are you going to do with it?"

Doc: What kind of question is that? I am going to care for it and love it of course. I am beginning to worry about you.

Catherine Nilson: *self conscious shuffle. Worry? About her?* Oh. Yeah, of course. *still doesn't understand*

Catherine Nilson: My mom's cat was all mangy.

Catherine Nilson: And it peed everywhere. =|

Doc: Because you didn't take care of it properly.

Doc: What did you do with Minx? My lab Cat..

Catherine Nilson: *shrugs* I let her outside, I think. *That night was still kind of a magical bloody blur.*

Doc: She hasn't come back. You sure you didn't hurt her? *His voice took on a quiet ominous timber*

Catherine Nilson: I promise.

Catherine Nilson: I... I'm sorry I screwed up.

Catherine Nilson: I got to use the lab and I fucked up. But I'll find that paladin somehow.

Doc: Doc was going to have to go find his cat. His thoughts were stopped as Cat apologized. He lifted an eyebrow, canted his head to the side and looked at her. "Where have you looked?"

Catherine Nilson: The morgue. Double checked at the hospital just in case. Put keyloggers in some computers, but so far it's just perverts writing weird crap in public.

Catherine Nilson: Plus everywhere outside. But she could be anywhere. I don't know anything about her.

Doc: "Have you checked any sanctuaries? Pratts place.. Solace? The churches? The monasteries? She's religious. Catholic."

Catherine Nilson: "A paladin nun? Gross. Okay."

Doc: "think about it Cat.. Paladins were a religious order. When you can’t show your face in public.. where do you hide? You ask for sanctuary.. "

Catherine Nilson: Cat's eyes light up and she nods. "I'll check."

Catherine Nilson: As an afterthought she also gingerly tries to pat the kitten.

Doc: Her name is Sheba. She is named after a Queen.

Catherine Nilson: "Which queen," she asks. The kitten is soft and Cat jerks back when she starts purring.

Doc: Doc sighed inwardly, it was a shame that she was so uneducated. But it wasn't her fault, it was her drugged out mother's fault. "The Queen of Sheba. Sheba was a place, she was referred to, by the bible. She was thought to be a myth, until the latter part of the th century when it was discovered she did exist.

Doc: She was known for her beauty and her intelligence. She set about aligning herself with the Israelites, when they were not wanting to be allies. Some scholars say she bought their alliance, others say she bore a child, because of her alliance with their king.

Catherine Nilson: Cat thinks about this. The only famous queen she remembers is Cleopatra. "Cool." She'll have to google Sheba.

Doc: "She was a famous, and many cultures want to claim her as theirs. But there has been no definitive proof as to where the land of "Sheba" really was. It is an interesting story." Doc looks at Cat, "We can learn a great deal from history. Situations today, are like those in history. Just the names and places have changed. Studying how the ancients won a battle, can give you a heads up when a similar situation is presented to you."

Catherine Nilson: Cat blinks. Like a battle with a stupid paladin. "Was there ever a battle, where a dumb paladin wanted to fight an evil vampire, and he was all wimpy?"

Doc: "Usually those situations are .. traps. Why would a weak enemy taunt a stronger enemy? Why? Because he is taunting them into a trap."

Catherine Nilson: "Could be," Cat said, trying to sound nonchalant. She had even started petting Sheba again.

Doc: Doc was not put off by her nonchalant attitude. "If there was such a challenge issued to a vampire by a paladin. It would not be wise for the vampire to duel in the open, as that could break the masquerade. In fact, allowing a paladin to even set the stage for such a duel is not a good idea."

Catherine Nilson: "What if it was out in the middle of nowhere, with lots of zombie skeleton summons?" Cat asked.

Doc: "I would pick a building.. claim abode it. Make it hard for anyone to get in, but the one." He sighed, "But honestly, I wouldn't let a paladin make any calls. He wants to attack me that bad.. let him ******* find me. Spur of the moment attack is less likely he can pull reinforcements in."

Catherine Nilson: Cat nodded, considering.

Catherine Nilson: Dad. I almost did it this time.

Doc: Did What?

Catherine Nilson: Almost beat the raid.

Catherine Nilson: I was this close.

Doc: Good.

Doc: You learned from studying the last one?

Catherine Nilson: Yeah. I learned that you have to go for the cameras first. Once you disable them, it's easy. But you have to wait it out too. The guards move in patterns. Just, on the last floor they surrounded me and I couldn't go anywhere without killing them.

Doc: Very good. Next time you will win.

Catherine Nilson: I hope so. =|

Doc: I have faith in you. If you don’t rush it, go at it systematically.. find the pattern, you will win it.

Catherine Nilson: *nods seriously, confident.*

Doc: Proud of you.

Catherine Nilson: *smiled lopsidedly* Thanks dad.

Doc: *text* Cat.

Catherine Nilson: *text* Yeah?

Doc: *text* What are you wearing to the event tomorrow night?

Catherine Nilson: *text* I don't know. *facial expression: =| *

Doc: *Sighs**text* Its tomorrow

Catherine Nilson: *text* I know!

Catherine Nilson: ><

Doc: Her poor lack of planning was going to make this ******* difficult. *text* Fine I will improvise.

Catherine Nilson: *text* What? You didn't want to match did you?

Catherine Nilson: *text* Dad you know what would help?

Catherine Nilson: *text* Money

Doc: *text* No I didn't want to match.

Catherine Nilson: *Moochportunity* Then what did you mean improvising

Doc: *text* Don't be nosy, it's unbecoming.

Catherine Nilson: *text* I don't understand and it's gonna bug me the rest of the night now

Doc: *text* Good.

Catherine Nilson: *text* Want to go shopping?

Doc: Doc looked at the Man, "I'll come back. We will handle it later." He texted Cat. "Where do you want to meet?"

Catherine Nilson: Cat brightened. She had already showered after handling that messy raid, so she was ready to go. "Coastside station?"

Doc: *text* Fine.. I will be there .

Catherine Nilson: Tonight Cat is wearing black leggings and a long, wispy white shirt. Brown boots adorned her feet, and a matching brown belt was cinched below her breasts. She was also carrying a purse with a wee revolver inside and some pilfered cash. She waited for her sire by the station, green eyes wandering. She considered herself his legally adopted daughter, and thus was excited to get some shopping done with "her old man". Plus maybe he would do the purchasing.

Doc: Doc spotted her, he secretly approved her attire. She looked like a young lady, not a thug. He nodded approvingly at her. "There is a shop not far from here.. I found it on my phone." He was beginning to love that phone. Technology could be a good thing. "any idea of what you want?"

Catherine Nilson: Cat had been dressing like that in the evenings after her less than legal dealings, but at some point, probably after she had gotten a boyfriend, the facade she put on to convince people she was normal, had become more natural than the baggy clothes she had used to protect herself from unwanted attention. Tonight it only came naturally for her to dress like that. Plus she was wearing the amulet Doc had given her, that occasionally helped her avoid security guards. (Cont)

Catherine Nilson: When he asked her what she wanted, she suddenly shifted, looking a little nervous. "How formal is it exactly." She doesn't know whether to go with an evening gown or something dressy but not garish.

Doc: "I am presuming it is formal. I am wearing a tux. I think a dress on the formal side would be a good place to start." Doc knew what kind of style he liked on women, but his style and Cat's style may be way off. Time would tell. As the reached the store, Doc opened the door for Cat to precede him inside. He then snapped his fingers in an obvious way that screamed he wanted attention and he wanted it now. A sales girl eagerly jumped up to see to them, when an older woman stopped her and sent her to the back. The older woman came forward. "Good evening, how can I help you?" Doc nodded briefly, "Daughter needs a gown for a formal event. Nothing too old, but still tasteful what do you have?"

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Catherine Nilson: Cat had an hourglass figure, and was broad-shouldered and heavy chested. Something that clung to her hips, tastefully, might do, but Cat didn't really want a whole lot of eyes on her. She was sure there was going to be someone else there who would want to be the princess of the ball, and that was fine with her. Cat wanted something flattering but dignified. When the woman offered something that would flaunt her cleavage, she physically balked. "Um, no..."

Doc: The woman eyed Cat critically, "Hair up or down?" She didn't wait for an answer, as she circled her, "Good bone structure, I suggest a v-neck, but not plunging. "Clientelle? Business? Or Pleasure?" Doc had shrugged, he had no idea how Cat was going to wear her hair, but at the last question he responded, "A bit of both." The woman held up a finger, "A thought, might be a bit daring.. but it's formal and still youthful.. " She left and returned a moment later holding the dress, "Looks better on, and the color is bold.. but with her coloring she could pull it off easily."

Catherine Nilson: It was loud and short, and Cat stared at it for a long time. She gave Doc a 'why did I come here' look, feeling like a bull in a china shop. Finally, she said "I'll try it on." That was enough for the sales lady, who set her up a room. When Cat tried it on, she stayed in there for a while, staring. The red in the dress really brought out the green in her eyes. She would leave her hair down. "It's short," she calls from the dressing room.

Doc: "So it that a No? Or what?" Doc he said through the door to Cat, He had no idea what 'it's short' meant.. what the a good thing or bad thing? He gave the woman a 'god save me' look. "I have a blue dress, more traditional, give me two ticks.." In no time a blue dress was being passed over the door to Cat. The woman said the door, for both Doc an Cat's benefit, "traditional formal wear, not as bold, but quite tasteful. Not quite as 'hip' as the red," She smiled at Doc knowingly.

Catherine Nilson: "It's blue," Cat said. Just before Doc could be exasperated about his eloquent childe's articulate statements, she wistfully murmured "Axel's eyes are blue. Most of the time." There was a shuffling as she tried it on. It didn't show a whole lot of skin, but it did cling to her figure. She pokes her head out and looks at the sales lady. "Okay. The last one fit better."

Doc: "Well Let me see..." He was trying really hard not to get irritated. He could tell by Cat's voice she was unsure. But he couldn't tell if she was unsure yes she liked it or unsure I hate it but i dont want to say so. To the sales woman, "Something white?" The woman made a face, "No.. not with her coloring.. would wash her out. Jewel tones for her." she nodded knowingly. "Let me see what I have in green.. with a v neck.." Doc frowned, "Wait why a v-neck?" The woman gave him one of those 'trust me looks' "Why because of her cleavage of course, accentuates the figured, without making one stare at her chest. The V... draws the eye to the whole body.. not just the cleavage. I will be right back.." While she gone, Doc said to Cat, "Show me one of them..."

Catherine Nilson: Cat walked out of the dressing room modeling the red dress. It wasn't too garish at all, and she actually looked elegant in it, but she was blushing and frowning. Damn, she wasn't used to dressing up like this. But she wanted to make a good impression. She peeked up at him as if she was afraid to see the barrel of a gun. "Dad? What do you think?"

Doc: "I like it." He narrowed his eyes, as he looked at her, "Do you like it?" This was the tricky thing, would she say yes because he said he liked it? The woman returned holding a green dress, "Lovely." as she saw Cat. She held the green out for their perusal. Doc grimaced, "That looks like something.. my mother would wear. Its matronly.." The woman nodded, "Of course," She looked at Cat, "Well Dear.. what would you like to see, or have you decided?"

Catherine Nilson: The lady really knew what she was doing, she had this air of confidence that was hard to deny. Cat kept her eye on Doc. This was hard. "I like it, but people... they'll pay attention to me." Cat squirmed. "They'll look at me." Her green eyes did the shifty dance.

Catherine Nilson: "Because it looks so perfect on me."

Doc: Doc looked at the woman, "We will take the red and the blue. Not the green." He looked at Cat, "I like the red. You can keep the blue for another occasion.. and that way i don't have to take you shopping. Got it?"

Catherine Nilson: Cat nods, she would complain but she doesn't much like shopping either. It's a necessary evil, like shoes. "What about shoes and jewelry?" She didn't have any jewelry, but "I have some flats that could work."

Doc: The woman looked agast "Flats in the red.. don't be absurd.. " She smiled, two dresses and Shoes in one customer, "My name is Mildred dear, You follow me.. we will get you the perfect slides for your dress. She led Cat to the back, while Doc estimated how much he was about to drop on this impromptu shopping trip.

Catherine Nilson: Cat chuckled grimly and followed Mildred, ready to pick something as bold as the dress. Might as well. In for a penny, in for a pound. Whatever that meant. She scanned the hundreds of shoes.

Doc: Mildred went directly to a pair of lucite inch slides. "the beauty of these.. they go with everything.. and accentuate the leg. As young as you are.. don't be afraid to show your legs. You will get old soon enough. Enjoy it while you can." She smiled at Cat, "You really do have lovely skin, don't be afraid to let it be admired. This is is an upscale event your father is taking you to, so people will be on their best behavior."

Doc: ( http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/d/l/m/mTAq ... -ZrVcg.jpg but higher heel)

Doc: (http://thumbs.ebaystatic.com/d/l/m/mfUB ... Fday-w.jpg )

Catherine Nilson: Cat wanted to tell the lady she didn't understand, and started to speak, but the shoes spoke to her. "She's right, nothing bad's going to happen," they said in a soothing female voice. "What's past is past right? You are tough now right? Go ahead and flaunt." Cat snapped out of it. "Really? You're not just saying that they're pretty because you want to make a sale are you," Cat demanded.

Doc: "Of course I want to make a sell dear.. " she smiled, "But I want to make 'repeat' sells... more. If you are happy.. you will come back. Your father won't have to hassle.. You get what you want.. I get a sell. We're all happy." She paused, "We could look at some more traditional styles. But then you are locked into a specific look with a traditional shoe. The lucite is edgy, but you are young, you can pull it off. You really do not want to look like a girl on her way to the prom, do you?"

Catherine Nilson: She thought about how she would look on Axel's arm, glanced back seriously at Doc, then nodded at Mildred. "Yeah." She would do what it took. As long as nobody hurt her or paid too much attention to her, she would be fine.

Doc: Mildred smiled at her, "Because your father is getting you two dressing.. I will give you a deal on the shoes." She cleared her throat, and to girls from the back quickly set about collecting the dresses and packaging them in tissues with a padded hanger. Yes Mildred wanted this customer to return. "Would you like me to add you to our early bird list? It lets you know when we have new stock in house, so you can come chose before it is picked over..."

Catherine Nilson: Cat didn't see why not. She didn't have a lot of money, but it couldn't hurt. "Sure." She felt a sense of relief wash over her. She had a dress, and she didn't even break a sweat this time.

Doc: "Excellent.. You just fill this out.. and you will be notified when new stock is in." Meanwhile the girls had wrapped everything and had them waiting at the register for them. Mildred smiled at Doc, he was attractive, he seemed single, "Would you like me to have these delivered?" Doc pulled his credit card out, "No she will take them now..." he handed the card over, as he looked at Cat. Little wench suckered him.

Catherine Nilson: Cat smiled up at him lopsidedly. That wasn't so bad. "What are you going to wear?" she asked him, hugging both dresses to her chest over the plastic coverings.

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Doc: "A tux.. " He said as he slide the credit card back in his wallet, "Pi is going with me." His tone was grim. It had seemed like a good idea at the time. Now.. he wasn't so sure."

Catherine Nilson: "It'll be fun," she said calmly. She was trying to convince herself of the same thing. "Thanks for the dresses and shoes." She was going to have to commandeer the closet at this rate. Gone were the days of a simple thuggish wardrobe.

Doc: "You're welcome.. " He slid a look at her, and decided against giving her a hard time. She should have had these moments with her mom in her earlier life, but she had missed out on that. Why the hell not take her shopping, she enjoyed it, and apart from it being hard for him to figure females out, it didn't totally suck. Now he knew what she was wearing. And wasnt that the point?

Catherine Nilson: She hoped that the other vampires at the party would like her. She knew a few of them, including the sire and the boyfriend, so she would try to be relaxed. "Even the shoes said it was going to be okay."

Doc: "Good.. 'cause.. if the shoes aren't happy.. no ones happy." He said in a completely serious voice. "I am kinda regretting inviting Pi.."

Catherine Nilson: "Why? Don't you like her?" Cat wasn't familiar with Doc's rocky relationship with Pi, all she knew was that Pi didn't like cussing, and was Doc's sire.

Doc: "I don't know. Our whole relationship is built on a lie. A huge ******* lie." He sighed. "I had a reason I invited her.. but it is moot now.. and i am stuck with taking her."

Catherine Nilson: Cat didn't want to snoop, but hell, maybe he wanted to talk about it. She stared at him to gage his mood, then went ahead. She could leave it, ask about the lie, or ask about the dance. She asked about the dance. "Why is it moot? Did Cyth get jealous?"

Doc: Doc burst out laughing, "oh hell no.. Cyth knows all about Pi.. In fact she knows more than Elliot.. " he smirked almost evilly, then sobered, "But it is a moot because it isn't going to work. I know when to cut bait, this is a cut bait situation. Only.. i am stuck with being the dutiful date."

Catherine Nilson: Cat wrinkled her nose. "You're using your own sire as bait?" Or he was going to? How ruthless. She would never use him as bait. Though, she might on some occasion die and come back in a forty year old woman's body to give him a hard time.

Doc: Doc looked at Cat, as if that were a normal thing, "What? .. Well... What?"

Catherine Nilson: "You said you know when to cut bait," She reminded him patiently.

Doc: "Yea.. and I did.. but i am still stuck. ******* stuck being nice to Pi all night." He grumbled.

Catherine Nilson: Cat stood on the tips of her toes so she could stare accusingly at Doc more effectively. "Were you trying to hook her up with somebody," she demanded.

Doc: "No... She's so far up E's *** it aint funny...Had something else in mind.. and its not going to work .. ok?" He felt kinda unnerved with Cat giving him such a hard look.

Catherine Nilson: "Okay. Okay," she said reassuringly and glanced away. Phew. She guessed she shouldn't try to get involved in his schemes. "I'm visiting another convent tomorrow," she informed him as they walked toward Axel's.

Doc: "So no luck finding her?" Honestly he hadn't expected Cat to find her easily. But it was like minx had either died or left the city. No inkling of her had he heard of. It was.. in a word... empty. There should be more.. it was anti-climatic. It was.. wrong.

Catherine Nilson: "Not yet, but I've narrowed it down to three convents. Had to punch a few nuns. Those ladies are tough." Cat frowned, taking no joy in her job. Well, maybe a little joy. Mostly she was afraid of getting shot.

Doc: Doc looked at her seriously, "Nuns are serious business. You picked the youngest nun.. not an old one.. a young one.. you slit her throat.. They should spill what they know pretty easy after that.."

Catherine Nilson: "But they'd call the cops," Cat reminded him. She wanted to find Minx too, but...

Doc: "And...?" Doc threw up his hands... "do you really think they would.. they hide fuking pedophile preists.. they'd turn over some innocent before they see the fall of the catholic hierarchy come down on their heads"

Catherine Nilson: Cat blanched, politics and complicated world events made her head hurt. "Okay. I'll do it tomorrow night at the next convent. It's the one in River Rock."

Doc: 'No.. Tomorrow night you are with Axel.. wearing a ******* expensive red dress."

Catherine Nilson: "BEFORE that," Cat intoned. This was important too. And she wouldn't get messy.

Doc: "Don't make me come bail your *** out .. cause I will be pissed."

Catherine Nilson: Cat knew that was what would probably happen. She stuck her hands in her imaginary pockets. "I'll look for her after tomorrow."

Doc: "good.." He would bail her out.. but tomorrow would be horrible timing.. and if it was going to go bad.. it would go bad tomorrow night. "Just plan on a nice easy going night tomorrow..." Cat needed a fun night out with adults, who planned and had goals.

Catherine Nilson: Cat nodded somberly. "Okay." She made it sound like he had given her a chore, instead of telling her to hang loose.

Doc: "There is a time and place for everything." He looked at her solumnly, "We ..have .. eternity. The sense of urgency.. is not so much.. You understand?"

Catherine Nilson: "But you hate her," Cat reminded him.

Doc: He did. Didn't he? No matter, "So..? I am not going to risk you for her.. " He nodded as he said it. That would be wrong. "We take our time.. we do it right.. We find.. we kill her.. " yes.

Catherine Nilson: Cat wanted to be included, and this we stuff was promising, so she brightened. "Okay."

Doc: "You need to start thinking long term.. planning long term.. " He wanted to launch into a speech.. but that would just put her off. So he did not.

Catherine Nilson: "I am," she protested, then silence. After a while, "Have you seen Wendell?" Lately the old bro had gone missing, and it was getting hard on Cat.

Doc: "No.. I haven't.. But then again .. we arent that close.."

Catherine Nilson: "I think he's sad about the apocalypse," she said and looked up at the moon. Poor Wendell.

Doc: “I doubt it.. I figure he knows something you do not.."

Catherine Nilson: Cat shrugged.

Doc: "He's Smart.. He is fine .. I am sure’

Catherine Nilson: "He's okay," Cat said, relieved.

Doc: Doc nods, he actually likes that Cat is concerned about other's safety. Once she gets a bit more experience under her belt.. he will have the talk with her. But it needed to be done at that perfect time.

Catherine Nilson: She had just leveled up tonight, gotten stronger, and it was a nice feeling. She walked with him in casual silence.

Doc: Doc didn't know what Axel had or had not sai to Cat, and he wasn't prying. But he did feel he could give her a heads up. "The city is in the midst of a change. Do we follow the bounty.. or not... Madison.. who is part of Canidae, does not agree with the bounty system as it is set up. You may hear some talk of that tomorrow. I am not going to tell you what to believe.. only that you need to discover the truth for yourself."

Catherine Nilson: "I thought Tyt wasn't going to let anybody talk about it," she admitted. She felt okay talking about such a sensitive topic with Doc, though. THe worst he would do was shoot her.

Doc: "I am not talking about it. That is why is it so important for you ..to investigate. You know to make your decisions based on what you perceive as a true. Not what I tell you .. or what Axel tells you. And I realize we could be at odds. But the fact you based your decisions on your own knowledge instead of hearsay is what is important."

Catherine Nilson: She looked at him, then nodded slowly. "This whole thing... I can't control what's happening. I feel like we're all gonna die no matter what. And then I'll be all alone again." She sighed glumly.

Doc: "If we all die.. we will all be in the SR together.. you won't be alone.”

Doc: Doc: Why the **** would she do that?!

Doc: She knows I am married?

Doc: she wanted to humiliate me?! Why? What the **** have I ever done to her?

Catherine Nilson: "I don't know, dad. To distract you from Trivia, I guess. So you wouldn't win."

Doc: Like I would fuckign win.. or even want to

Catherine Nilson: "Dad. Calm down. She won't sit on your lap again unless she's really stupid, okay." She knows how it feels to have your personal space invaded, though she thought it was a girl thing.

Doc: Doc pulled his glock and fire three times.. into the floor.

Doc: *Drags Cat to the street*

Catherine Nilson: Cat lets herself be dragged along again.

Doc: Doc looks at Cat and sighs.

Doc: ******* social occasions! *fires more shots*

Doc: Cat.. make my apologies. I .. ca... I Wont .. go back in there. I won’t be a ******* joke.

Catherine Nilson: Cat let go of him and stepped back. "You're not a joke. They're just little kids."

Doc: *Doc Counted. it hit closer to home than he wanted to admit.* I'm sorry I ruined your evening.

Catherine Nilson: "What? It isn't ruined. Come on. Let's go back inside, I want you to talk to Velveteen with me."

Doc: *He caressed her face with the back of his hand.* You do not need me. You stand on your own two feet. Be who you are.

Catherine Nilson: She blushed. "I know. It's not that I need you there. I just want you in there." He looked like he was having fun before Helena did That Thing She Said Not To Do But She Didn't Listen.

==============
Hours later
==============

Catherine Nilson: *Looks for him around the Depot after the party*

Doc: *didn't head back to the depot after the party.*

Catherine Nilson: *leans against the ATM and texts him* Where are you?

Doc: *text* Somewhere.. where are you?

Catherine Nilson: *text* Depo. ******** Waldo sire was going to make her find him.*

Doc: *text* Whats up?

Catherine Nilson: *text* I want to hang out. *And keep tabs on him.*

Doc: *suddenly suspicious* *text* What have you done?

Catherine Nilson: *text* Nothing, just wanted to see if you were still bent out of shape.

Doc: *Text* I am not 'bent out of shape'.

Catherine Nilson: *text* You shot the ground.

Doc: *text* That was so I didn't shoot that female.

Catherine Nilson: *text* Yeah, I was kind of surprised. *looks for him at the old apartment*

Doc: *text* Velveteen would have had my head on a platter, if I had shot her.

Doc: *text* and Micah too..

Catherine Nilson: *text* I got to talk to Velveteen a little bit.

Doc: *text* Good.

Catherine Nilson: *text* I want to talk to you about humans and stuff.

Doc: *text* Fine. I will meet you somewhere..

Catherine Nilson: *text* Where?

Doc: *text* I'll meet you at the house.

Catherine Nilson: *text* The house house?

Catherine Nilson: *text* The one you bought and we’re like don't ever go in there

Doc: *text* No the tree house. Yes the house.

Doc: *text* Cytherea is back. You're visiting.. not staying.

Catherine Nilson: *journeys to the forbidden house to convene with The Suit. She knocks, then lets herself in.* Hello.

Doc: *ponders meeting her, but decides she dying to look through the house, she will eventually find him, in the study. The only room with a masculine feel.*

Catherine Nilson: Cat danced through the house like she was on a heist, hugging corners and keeping her eye out for rogue rent a cops. Eventually she found her sire sitting in what felt like, from Cat's experience, a principal's office. She stared at his face, making sure nothing was twitching or getting tense.

Doc: He felt her stare, and he pointed at the leather chair opposite his desk, with a letter opener, that he was still in the process of using.

Catherine Nilson: She sat in the chair and thought about where to start. "So. Velveteen says we should lay low and let the stupid bounty violators and human sympathizers all die. I don't think it's that simple though. I think the government will kill us all together, not pick out good or bad ones. And, we kill violators after they violate, so it doesn't really help the city. I know it's better than nothing and keeps a lot of people being careful. But, I don't think it's working. The army's here, and they're gonna find us."

Doc: Doc rubbed his brow. "Alright I understand you disquiet about what Velveteen said. Think of it this way. Tytonidae has been bailing the city out for that last two years. We kept the city from knowing about us. And all we got from the vampire community is 'Tytonidae is ****.. they are murders.. they are glorified killers.' So they don't like us. We're ok with that. But who is going to take care of things if we don't? You are worried. We want every one ******* worried. So that they shut the **** up and let us do our ******* job."

Catherine Nilson: Cat couldn't convince anybody else that Tytonidae was necessary. When she'd been in a gang, those rowdy thugs had needed leadership and enforcers. "I know," she said truthfully. In spite of being a crook, and as much as she might complain about authority, she saw that the city needed Tytonidae for what it did. "And I want to help. And it does help. Just, it's scary. I hope the army clears out the zombies and leaves."

Doc: "It will get worse before it gets better. You just need to make sure you think.. before you act. You plan.. long term. Burying yourself isn't a plan.. its avoiding making a plan."

Catherine Nilson: "They won't look in the dirt," she told him. "Humans are stupid. I'll disguise myself as a dead body."

Doc: "And they will burn the bodies.. to ensure their dead, after its head has been severed from the body. It's what I would have done."

Catherine Nilson: "Then what are we going to do? The wilderness kills everything. I can't protect Julius if they're going to raze everything. And it's hard to pretend to be human."

Doc: Doc shrugged. He didn't like Julius and if he died.. well better Julius than Cat. "You need to be teaching him. So he can take care of himself."

Catherine Nilson: "He does okay," Cat admitted. "He doesn't really need me. But I'd go crazy if the humans firebombed everything and I didn't know where he, or you, or Axel were."

Doc: "Well you need to prioritize. If the human attack, you get yourself safe first. Then when you can you make your way to a area you have already discussed with Axel and jdog. You need to have several location picked - because some of them could be compromised.

Catherine Nilson: "Where are you going to be?" She asked him, sitting up straight in the leather chair. She was going to be mad if he got coy.

Doc: "I have several locations that I have purchased over that last year. It also why I worked with Pi on the Depot. To make more like a fortress. But worse comes to worse.. I will head to Eyrie."

Catherine Nilson: Cat smiled. "Okay." She would probably go with Axel over there. She had two apartments with Axel, but no private apartment just yet.

Doc: Doc saw the smile and a look of 'relief'? "You do know that you can't just get into Eyrie, right? If you aren't Tytonidae.. you don't get in. I couldn't bring Cytherea

Catherine Nilson: "I know," Cat said smugly. She had plans. Even if she couldn't stop humans from doing things, or stupid vampires from being stupid.

Doc: Doc nodded. If she was going to apply to Tytonidae, he would pleased. But she would have to prove herself on her own. He wouldn't pull any strings. If anything, he might make it harder. To make her appreciate it more when she made it.

Catherine Nilson: She felt a little better, even if she was anxious about the future. She had a mate and a sire conveniently located in the same guild, so there was more a chance of them sticking together when **** hit the fan. Cat would talk to Velveteen.

Doc: "Better?" He noted she didn't have that slightly obsessive hunted look to her eyes anymore.

Catherine Nilson: "Yeah." She wasn't even glancing over her shoulder periodically.

Doc: *Good. I am glad." He was slightly curious, but he wasn't going to ask. Sometimes it was jsut better to nod and say nothing. This is probably one of those times.

Catherine Nilson: She didn't want him raining on her parade either. And speaking of rained parades, Cat frowned at him. "You left the party."

Doc: "I did."

Catherine Nilson: "You embarrassed me," she said, though it didn't seem to bug her at the moment.

Doc: "My apologies, Catherine. It was not my intention to embarrass you."

Catherine Nilson: "It's okay." Cat sighed and thumped her head back against the chair. "I like your house..."

Doc: "Thank you. I rather like it myself." Though there were too many ******* flowers everywhere. But Cyth liked flowers.

Catherine Nilson: Cat: *had fallen asleep in the leather chair and is snoring with a purring kitten on her lap*

Doc: Doc looked at her and sighed. "You are not moving in. And you cannot have Sheba." He sighed again as she snored, he surreptitiously pulled his desk drawer open and pulled out a sound activated palm recorder. As she continued to snore, the recorder took note of it.

Catherine Nilson: Her snores were recorded for a period of an hour and fifteen minutes, after which point a startled gasp and silence. There was a small furry creature on top of Cat's chest, getting her dress hairy. If she moved, she thought something bad might happen.

Doc: Doc had continued to work at his desk as she snored. Occasionally at on overly loud or obnoxious snore he would stop and just stare at her. He was thankful Cytherea didn't snore. "You Snore." He said, as he continued to write.

Catherine Nilson: "Not usually," she protested. She squirmed uncomfortably, then slowly and gently tried to remove the cat from her chest. It *was* kind of soft and warm. And it wasn't mangy anything.

Doc: "I hope for Axel's sake that is true." He saw her trying to move Sheba. "She's happy where she is. You are in her seat. Therefore you become her seat."

Catherine Nilson: "But I'm bigger than her," Cat pointed out and looked over at him. He was doing some paperwork. What a suit.

Doc: "So? The chair is as well. It is still her chair." The reply was said as if to not require an answer. It was matter of fact. As though he was saying, 'You're still her seat.'

Catherine Nilson: "You love the cat more than me," she mumbled under her breath, even though she didn't really mean it. It wasn't that big of a deal to her. She started to pet it.

Doc: "Of course I do.. " He agreed nonplussed, while still writing. After a moment he looked up from the document and looked at her. "Is everything alright?" Perhaps she and Axel had had an argument, and he should be more supportive.

Catherine Nilson: She finally scooped up the cat and stood, then deposited it on its designated chair. "Yeah."

Doc: Doc stared at her. "Look at me, and tell me everything is alright." He would be able to tell if she were hiding something.

Catherine Nilson: "Everything's fine," she said and looked into his eyes. Then she furrowed her brows, "What, do you have magic powers where you can look in my eyes and see if I'm lying? Cause I'm not." She was just hanging out.

Doc: He watched her for a long moment and finally nodded once. "Good." He shut his book, and put it in his drawer. "What movies are playing..? Anything interesting?"

Catherine Nilson: "Out of the Furnace. It's a drama with Christian Bale in it." Cat scratched her hair thoughtfully, "I haven't been to one in a while. But it's getting early. I want to go home." She had checked up on him, and he wasn't all furious anymore, so she figured he would be fine without her.

Doc: He frowned, but quickly wiped it away. "Alright, I will see you later then." He moved over to the leather chair and scooped Sheba up, and commenced to cradle her. "I will expect an update on that paladin tomorrow..." he said absently as he stroked Sheba.

Catherine Nilson: Cat giggled. Actually giggled. She smirked warmly at him. Before he could ask, she informed him "You look like a James Bond bad guy."

Doc: Doc tried to remain straight faced and indignant, but he smirked. "Except in my version.. I win."

Catherine Nilson: Cat laughed and started to walk out, then paused and turned slowly. "Dad?" She looked at the recorder device to make sure it was off, but she couldn't tell.

Doc: Doc looked at her, "Yes?"

Catherine Nilson: Thinking of him as a villain made her remember that he kills people for fun, so she asked very quietly, "When did you start killing people? Did you just wake up one day and decide you were going to start doing it."

Doc: "I was seventeen, I had just been humiliated by my father, again. I went out for a walk, and I killed a thug that tried to mug me. He was a criminal. Society was better off without him." He didn't go into detail, about how he left parts of the thug in various parts of the city. Nor did he elaborate in how the feel of power, gave him a feeling of euphoria.

Catherine Nilson: Cat looked a little bashful. He really didn't like gangsters, did he? "I kill people sometimes. It's fun with Axel. Paige kills them too."

Doc: "Yes I know she does. Her victims are weak and cannot defend themselves. You should guide her to pick more appropriate victims. The humans will track an innocent's killer, much more avidly than a thug or a criminal."

Catherine Nilson: "That's a good idea," Cat says, but would Paige go for it? "I'd better try and talk her into it while she's still fucked up." Doc didn't know about her being fucked up, so she added "She and Wendell got into a fight."

Doc: Doc's lip twitched ever so slightly. "I trust Wendell is well?"

Catherine Nilson: "Oh yeah. He's like a brick wall! Not that I've ever touched him. Just, his clothes were all torn up, and his skin was fine." Paige, on the other hand, was missing an arm below the elbow.

Doc: Doc nodded, "Good. I am relieved." He hadn't really been worried, and his tone showed it. It was just something polite to say. "And you can take care of ...Patty? Yes?"

Catherine Nilson: She nodded slowly, thinking he meant the paladin. Paladin Patty. "I'm going to do it like you said. Go in there with my pocketknife, mess those nuns up good."

Doc: "Yes.. good... But I was talking about your.. Patty.. Peggy.. Polly.. the fucked up one..."

Catherine Nilson: "Paige." "And I will. Bye dad." She glanced shyly at the cat. "Bye," she told it.

Doc: "Good Evening, Catherine." He smiled slightly at her. She could be annoying, and a mooch, but he did enjoy her company.

Catherine Nilson: Cat bounced, ready to spend the last couple of hours of the night with Axel and Patty.

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

Cat pets her childe.
“Mm, purr purr,” he replied.
“Good Vasik. Now tell me about yourself.”
“You know, you can pet me anywhere you like. That's one thing about me,” he replied with a sly grin.
“Okay.” She began to pet his stomach.
“Close enough.”
“Where did you come from?”
“I don't quite remember. You'd have to ask Logan that.”
“Who's Logan?”
“I remember being a prince in a land of fantasy, but that probably sounds like ********. Logan, what a pussy.”
Catherine held an expression of deadpan confusion.
“He's the me I tend to avoid, lol. He's been in the sidelines of my mind for quite some time. It's rather nice. Every now and then he has some morality he tries to chime in. It's like a bug bite.”
“Oh,” she replied, “My Logans are called Red and Green.”
“Ooh, colorful Logans. Mine's just annoying. Loves to leave notes all around. You might like him. What are Red and Green like?”
“But how will I know it's him, Vasik?” She interjected.
“You'll know it's him if I'm pouting about life and emo. He'll probably present himself when he wants.
I can feel his emotions. He's hoping that you'll be some release to his loneliness. Like I care.
He tries to get rid of us all the time. I ain't going out like a candle just yet.”
“Red is kind of... He tells me when he thinks I'm going to mess up. Which is all the time. And Green tells me when I should be scared, and tells me when to fight or run away.”
“Your Green is sort of like my Logan a little, at least the scared part.”
“I recently discovered... another me. At least I think.”
“How many people do you have inside?”
The pale haired vampire listens to him and then leans back in her seat, staring at the ceiling. "They're not really people. They're voices. I have three."
“For me, Logan can take over the body, if I let him or sleep, or just speak in my mind. The new me, the mirror, appears as a separate body that looks just like me, that pushes me, and apparently can hurt me, lol. What a power.”
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Your sire is quite the charmer. Woooo sarcasm.”
“Uh oh. What did he do. You can tell me, Red. Come on.”
“So, I know you're all sharing and caring. He tried to steal from me today so I jested a little, tried to tell him a little about me, then he got a 'tude.”
“What'd you, uh, jest at him.”
“Well, it seemed like casual **** to me.”
“What were the words you used that came out of your mouth, just out of curiosity.”
“I think I'm okay keeping my distance if he doesn't like the way I talk, lol.”
“Just tell me what you said, ohmygawd.”
She stood on the tips of her toes and gave his shoulders a wee shake.
“Gahd, okay, okay!”
With that, she let go.
“I said that it was a nice try stealing from me and that I didn't have **** anyways. He laughed and called me a little ********, but then I said I was his little ********, then things went on and I have no idea what happened.”
“I was telling him I was going to open a business then he's all serious and ‘I'm not one to be fucked with’ or something. Like seriously?“ Vasik held an expression of tired apathy.
Cat blushed, “Vasik, that means that if you're his ******** we....”
He laughed, “Ha! That's human thinking. Why are you blushing so hard? Huh?”
The silver-haired vampire clapped her hands over her cheeks. “I am not.”
“Psh, yeah whatever.”
She pointed to him, “You were adopted.”
“Oh my god my life is a sham!” Another expression of apathy.
“Stop being sarcastic,” Cat snapped.
“You made me. …So I wasn't really adopted, was I?”
“I guess not,” rubbing her chin thoughtfully, “Do you remember how I made you, Vasik?”
“I don't remember anything before I was a Vampire, but I know I was something before. I bet Logan remembers.”
"Let me talk to Logan," she insists. "Put Logan on the line."
"Only for you." He closes his eyes, relaxes the muscles in his body.
His eyes open slowly, shoulders shrug down, back slightly curled in a submissive stance.
"H-hey. I-I'm Logan"
Cat felt flattered that her childe trusted her enough to put Logan on the line. She wasn't expecting it to work. The pale-haired, green eyed vampire mustered up a lopsided smile. She wasn't used to smiling, though. "Hi there little guy. I'm Cat."
Logan lights up a cigarette in a shaking hand.
"I haven't spoken to anybody since..."
It should also be noted that she called him Little Guy when she stands at just a little over five feet tall. "Don't be scared. Nobody's going to hurt you." Cat sat down on the leather sofa and patted the spot beside her.
Logan reluctantly sits beside her, curled over, appearing small like the "little guy" his sire referred to him as. He sucks in and savors a breath of the cigarette to alleviate his anxiety. "I'm just... tired. I'm not really scared anymore. I just want to be me again."
Cat ran her fingers through his soft red hair. She was so proud of him, her very own fledgling vampire standing up to his big brother and even catching her sire stealing from him. He had potential. But his words confused her. "Aren't you you?"
"I used to be... someone else. I was in love. I had a life. But now, I'm just a megalomaniac's pet. I've tried to hard... to you know, end it. He hurt so many people, killed them, even worse."
"This isn't who I am anymore."
"We'll figure it out," Cat promised. "Nobody's going to hurt you now. You're a big strong vampire. There's no ending it. You'd better not give up." She kept petting him and ignored the stinky cigarette smoke that curled ever upward.
The cigarette was almost finished. He stomped the embers out on the back of his left hand and flung the butt away. "A big, strong vampire. That's exactly what I don't want to be."
"But this venue is keeping the other guy busy... and I might enjoy it in the long run, I'm really hoping so."
"We're not that bad," Cat promised. "You can defend yourself and do whatever you want. You can use your powers for good like a superhero, or make people your stupid little pets. Whatever you want." Cat started massaging his shoulders.
The massage felt good physically, but mentally uncomfortable. For the first communication since he was a human, he felt warmth and security, yet something held him back. "I think my former love interest is holding me back, but she's gone now."
"I'm ready to forget her. Maybe start new again."
"This is a sire-childe massage, no strings attached," Cat promised. "You don't need to feel bad about it." She had a very maternal bond toward her childer that had blossomed from her neglected childhood. "You can talk about her if you want."
"I think I'm good. Her memories are holding me back from accepting who I am now."
"Maybe not. Maybe she taught you stuff you should remember. Heavy real life stuff," Cat offered. "Just think about it."
"Vasik won't shut up about me being a pussy about it." He chuckled. "Even as we speak."
"I can't get a moment to myself."
"I'll tell him to be nice," she promises. She can't promise that he will listen to her, though. She doesn't know how many of these personalities want to hurt her, and how many are loyal to her.
"At least it's just him, and the mirror."
"The mirror never speaks to me; he's sort of Vasik's Vasik."
It would be weird if the mirror had a Vasik's Vasik's Vasik. Cat blinked and shook her head, confusing herself. ."We've got to think of a name for him so I know who I'm dealing with," Cat mumbled. "Have you ever seen Lord of the Rings?"
"A long time ago I did. Why do you ask?"
"Just reminds me of when Shmeagol is looking into the reflective water and Gollum talks to him." She kept staring down at Vasik. She liked his hair. She had made some pretty headed boys.
"It's sort of like that, yeah..."
Cat kept petting Vasik's, no, Logan's hair. She knew how he felt, kind of, but didn't want to talk about it herself. What good would it do? She was trying hard to be normal.
Logan was ready for something to change in his life, his powerless life. There was a spark of hope in this communication, relinquishing loneliness and destruction from the old world. It felt comforting to him, and his shaking became subdued. He took a nice, deep breath and exhaled slowly to expel the fears of himself through his fingertips. It was nice to speak, to share, to feel contact with another... well person again.
"Thank you" he said with a quiet smile.
"You're welcome," Catherine cooed happily. Nothing made her feel quite so content as spending time with her childer. Watching them learn and grown and thrive was fascinating.
"So what about you and the others? How many childer do you have? What are they like?"
"Just you and Julius. And I guess the other yous. I haven't been a vampire for very long myself." Cat made a deadpan, I Still Outrank You Though face.
Logan's shoulders were still slumped in submission to his sire's slight superiority. "I see... Big families intimidate me, haha... Plus Vasik isn't family-friendly, especially with Julius I remember." He let loose a hesitant smirk.
"I thought that was normal," Cat admits. "If you hadn't stabbed or shot each other then I'd be worried."
"It's not really normal for me... I'm not used to this violent, animalistic lifestyle yet." Logan honestly just wanted to say 'I want to be human again,' but was afraid of the repercussions of letting that information loose in the vampire community.
"It doesn't have to be violent. Some people actually like being bitten. And it's not like they remember when you're done." Cat wanted him to relax and enjoy himself.
"I know I don't remember much... I remember the color of your hair and eyes looking over me, and a bright light."
"I remember the pain going away, feeling numb all over."
Cat thought she had accidentally killed him. She ha left him alone and waltzed innocently away. But he'd come back to surprise her. "Mine was like that too," Cat informed him.
"It was a great feeling, almost like a cold ecstasy." The melodramatic comment made Logan twinge. "Vasik loves to taunt me when I open up like this."
"Tell him I said to be nice," she insists quietly.
"Vasik says it's not his fault I'm asking for it, although in this rough-and-tough world, he may be right. He'll be quiet now I'm sure."
"It's not smart to be mean to somebody you're stuck with forever," Cat warned them both. And Mirror Guy if he was listening.
"Vasik doesn't plan to be stuck with me forever, that's the problem. He wants to get rid of me, but I don't think he can..."
Cat thought about it. "Don't know. Maybe someday we can build a cyborg and then one of you can be a robot."
Logan actually laughed. He hadn't laughed since before his turning. The warmth in his gut felt nice and nurturing. "Only if I can have the body."
"You'll have to work that out with everybody," Cat said and leaned back. She was grateful that she had schizophrenia instead of actual people living in her body.
Logan didn't want to think of having more than one person inside of him. The mirror version of Vasik was never a voice, but an actual body he sees and feels that looks like himself, but targets Vasik and his flaws. It feels like he is ever present, yet never there when Logan is around. Thank God, Vasik took quite hit from his mirror self the other day. "Yeah... everybody...," Logan replied with hesitation.
Cat patted him reassuringly and sat still. He could stay Logan, or bring Vasik back out, or something surprising could happen, either way.
"You know, I really appreciate this time together. We could do it again sometime." Logan rested his head on his sire as a sign of comfort and relaxation.
"Sure," said the easygoing vampire. "Anytime."

The fiery-headed beast sat on the ledge of the apartment rooftop, knife in his right hand, admiring the sheen and reflections of the blade. His face was deep in contemplation. The razor-sharp claws caressed the sharp edge, drawing a little blood, dripping down to the streets below. The view of the town was gorgeously depressing. The lights were dim in the cold wind as a little snow fell on his pale skin.

--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--

A tiny woman bundled up in a heavy coat, fur hat and scarf makes her way toward the complex. She is walking in such a slumped manner that she is clearly sad, but the expression on her face is as blank as ever. Some crimson rain falls onto her face. She blinks and pokes it, then looks at her finger, then looks up.
With a heavy sigh, the boy lays flat on the edge, looking out to the lights, hand dangling over the edge with the knife on his chest. His thin, white coat and black tank was insufficient for the cold, but he didn't dress for the warmth. He loved the cold, the freezing in his blood, the numbing of pain and heartbreak. He started to slice the blade down his arm, blood spilling over his pure jacket and face. He felt nothing.
"VASIK," the nineteen year old hollered. She was good at being loud without actually screaming. She waited for him to notice her, at which point her shape would bounce some and stand up straighter in the distance. "COME HERE."
The tortured boy rolled off the edge of the building, and with his killer instinct, landed on his feet below, next to his sire.
"I assumed you were talking to me... It's hard to hear that name when you mean him and it's not."
Cat folded her arms across her chest and frowned up at him. "Well which one are you, then?" she demanded. She needed to know who to scold.
He fumbled with his feet in the piling snow like a 3-year-old in trouble. "Logan...," he murmured as he wiped the blade on his jacket and sheathed it.
"Why were you hurting yourself like that," she asked him.
"It's not like it does anything..." He looked down, seemingly hurt by his own words. He looked down at his arm, the blood dancing down between his clawed fingers, staining the silky snow below.
"Why though," she asked him. Frost had begun to sprout on her hat and some of the hair outside of it.
"I don't know... I know I won't die... and I used to think I would. I know it's futile, but I feel like I must." He thought back to his old abandoned shop, razors and notes all over the countertops and floor, stains on the walls and furniture.
Cat still looked puzzled. She wanted to just tell him to stop it, but people don't work that way even if that would make things easier for Cat. "Why do you feel like you have to?" She took his hand and led him inside.
"It just feels right, I'm not quite sure. I feel... relieved. Like a large weight of anxiety is lifted, but then the guilt comes." It was nice to feel touched, cared for again. "I know I can't stop Vasik from hurting people all of the time, but I want to feel like I can, like I'm mortal and I can stop it all. It's silly, I know... I mean, I feed, but he... he butchers."
"Cutting yourself won't help save humans, Logan. I will talk to him later about murdering." She laid him down on his bed and got a tag to wash the blood off his arm.
"He's arguing that he always does it for a just reason. Ha." He stared at his arm. He was a little famished as Logan always was since he denied himself feeding as long as possible, and his hungry eyes were tempted to lick the wound clean. Still, he could not turn down the offer of nursing from his precious sire he was so grateful for.
"Killing helps about as much as cutting," Cat fretted as she doctored him with very practiced hands.
This terrific beast in the form of a boy, capable of crushing throats with his hands, disemboweling with his claws, and crushing bones with his jaws, began to cry on the wound dressings. "I just find it so hard to cope when all I hear day in and day out is 'we have to get rid of him, the Mirror told me to.' and 'don't listen to him, he's just a pussy' and 'he won't be around for much longer, he'll eventually give up.'" Logan was trapped in a mind that antagonized him at every moment it could.
"Let me talk to him," she said bluntly. She was his sire and she would protect him. All of hims.
His eyes closed as he relaxed his body, then with a jump, Vasik exclaimed, "DAMN I'm hungry. He's turning me into an anorexic!"
"He's scared to eat," the pale haired vampire explained with a frown. "He doesn't want to kill anybody."
"Psh, he won't kill if he's smart. I've seen him feed a couple of times. He always sticks around all night to make sure they're fine. Otherwise he just eats rats and rabbits. He can still eat just a little for me, you know? Preferably human blood? Just a tad? That's all I'm asking."

"Somebody is killing people with your hands. So Logan is scared. It's like a bad trip. Or when you get sick drunk. He doesn't want it to go that far anymore."
"All I do is kill as needed. If a guard spots me stealing, and I can't talk him out of not turning me in, I have to kill him. If a human remembers being fed on, I have to kill them. I'm not saying I don't enjoy it... but... I'm not a mass murderer like he thinks I am. I mean, I was in the beginning. I was drunk on power. I couldn't help it. I didn't want to help it."
Cat stroked his hair and watched him. She was proud of him, and it was only natural to kill, but they had to be careful. Limited resources would push them to extinction. "Did you tell Logan that? Without being mean to him?"
"Do I HAVE to be nice? Haha. Honestly, I think all he sees and feels is death and dying. He wouldn't believe me if I told him. He instinctively feels death and smells blood when he's in my mind, and can't stand to see the details."
"Yes. Yes be nice to him, Vasik. He's a wreck and you have to help him stop hurting himself. You guys have a business, and new vampire friends, but neither one of you can let each other enjoy it."
"He has been helping me with my people skills..." Vasik defending Logan? That was unheard of, but he would definitely consider anything his sire told him. There was that sense of loyalty he couldn't replace. "I don't really have vampire friends, but I wouldn't mind having some business partners. I don't really make friends easily."
Cat nodded, somewhat satisfied. Then she asked, "I know this is personal, but... can you tell me more about the other other you?"
"The... mirror you mean..." Vasik cringed at the name he gave it. He was obviously physically distressed.
"Don't be scared, Vasik." She meant to comfort him, not patronize him, and she pet his hair some more. It was alarming to see him so stressed out.
"Me? Scared?! Ha! I'm never scared." What a see-through lie. He did have a natural, yet immeasurable fear of fadebeasts. "Just... unsettled. I don't know if he can hear me, but he always knows what's in my mind and how to condescend me. And by condescend, he actually appears as a physical form of myself and beats me up like a drunk, abusive father."
Cat ponders this. "When does he come out? Can you control it?"
"I can't control him at all, but he seemed to disappear when I saw Paige the other day. He comes around after I screw up and I'm alone. So I just have to never make mistakes and he'll never come around again. I'm just trying to find out when and where he came from, and why." He pulled a notebook from his pocket, his expedition journal into his soul.
Cat day up in the bed and tilted her head at the book. She thought keeping records of it was smart. Maybe they could figure out what to do. She didn't know if he would let her confront him. If it was a him.
His talon fingernails flipped through the book, slightly too fast to read. All that could be seen were frantic scribbles written in pencil, ink, and blood. There were times where he just wrote with his claws, as fast as he could so he couldn't forget a single bit of information. "He's like me... too much like me... but the foil of all that I am and want to be."
Cat thought about his words and paid attention. You can't talk to him, and he doesn't talk to you... we need to figure out his weakness. But since he's in you guy's body there isn't a whole lot I could do."
"I feel like his weakness... is my weakness, and his anger. I don't really know what his weakness could be. He's so against Logan, maybe that's his fear? I'm not quite sure... I feel like, he came about after I was exiting my first days of drugged power, after I was killing." He thought back to a particular night when he dreamed of the sun engulfing him, his first night of fear in the new world. He remembered befriending a mouse, a creature he would normally crush. Why he was remembering this now, he wasn't sure.
"I don't want to treat you like a kid because you're older than me and everything. So you don't have to listen. But maybe I could watch you for a few nights until the Mirror shows up. That way when he comes out, I'll be ready, and I can tie you up and try to reason with him."
"Being tied up..." Vasik smiled. "Kinky. I like the way you think. But for some reason I don't think I'll be safe if I'm all tied up when the mirror comes. It's an idea though."
"We don't know till we try," she said, ignoring his kinky comment. The truth was, Cat was very kinky, but she and her boyfriend had been fighting and she didn't want to be the bad guy by sleeping with another boy.
Vasik felt a little put off, but he was alright with that. He honestly felt it a little awkward the idea of having "relations" with his sire, but he loved to tease. He couldn't help flirting with a pretty lady. "Because I'm determined to get rid of this son of a *****, I'll give anything a shot. Count me in."
"Okay." Cat stared at him, and stared, and stared. Then she got bored. Childe-sitting was hard work. Then she had an idea. "Actually, Paige lives here, I'll just make her do it."
The staring was a little unsettling. He lifted his head back and stared right back until the white-haired beauty stopped and shared her proposal. "Oh god, she's going to hate that..." Vasik was so entranced with the idea being around Paige so much since he admired her so. She was so incredibly powerful in his eyes. More time around her, the better. "I think I can handle that."
"She hates everything," the vampire remarked with a roll of her dusky green eyes. It was the first bit of emotion she'd shown on her face in a while. Cat pulled out her phone and texted Paige.
Groans could be heard from Paige’s room.
"I guess so. She doesn't really have a choice, does she?" Vasik let out a low cackle.
Paige’s head banged against multiple surfaces.
"No, or I'll tell her sire." It was mostly an empty threat, she and Axel had a fight and were not living in the same apartment for the time being. But Paige didn't know that.
"Oooo you're gonna telllll," he mocked with a grin. With his bandaged hand, he took out a cigarette and lit it, breathing in heavy and holding in the savory taste before letting it seep smoothly from his smile.
Cat patted his head and sat up. "Okay. You guys have fun. If the Mirror comes out Paige will tie you up and talk with it. Then she'll write her findings down and we can figure out how to deal with it."
BANG, BANG, BANG.
"Mm, I can't wait." Another low chuckle at the sound of the loud banging behind the door. This was way too amusing for him.
"Bye guys," she addressed the one body and slipped out. Then poked her head back in. "Be nice to Logan," she stated and shut the door again.
"Fine mom..." He begrudgingly replied. As soon as she shut the door, he silently mouthed out at her like a grumpy teenager. "Off to bother Paige!"

"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"

Catherine Nilson: Cat sent Doc a text, "Meet me at the apartment now." She pocketed her phone and led the red-haired vampire down the street. Cat unlocked the door and showed Vasik in. It was a rather sparse apartment, with no wall decorations, but there were vast piles of medical books, some stashes of loot, a computer and a television. There was an oversized couch that Cat seemed emotionally conflicted about for some reason.

Doc: Doc felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out and read it apathetically. Then he read it again. What. The. ****. Cat was giving orders now? He texted back: "oh Really. And If I decline?" He hit send and immediately pulled his firearm to check the magazine. He was going to need a full one. He popped in a fresh one and spent a moment topping off the other one while he waited for a response. Order him around? Don't think so. Well.. at least not without repercussions.

Vasik: The young boy, thrown in from the cold in nothing but slacks and a baggy t-shirt, found comfort on the foreign couch, but twiddled his thumbs idly. His eyes searched the apartment to find character of this new creature he was about to meet. Perhaps he could learn something and gain favor on his perception. He noticed several medical texts... Was Doc really a doctor? Or perhaps it was a nickname? It seemed almost like a joke, but he still kept his mind in a formal state.

Catherine Nilson: "Dad please, it's important!" Cat texted, then frowned at her phone. "I guess I should have asked nicely," she mumbled to Vasik. "He's mad." This introduction was getting off to a balmy start.

Vasik: The boy on the couch shuddered. Cat's foreboding statement lead him into a sense of regret. He should of at least begged Cat to change his clothes. His twiddling moved down to his toes, crossing them here and there, looking at the ceiling as he waited in anxiety.

Catherine Nilson: "Don't be scared," she stated flatly. "He can smell fear." Well that was comforting.

Doc: Doc holstered the gun and pulled the cell once more to check the message as it came in. He read it and paused. There was gut reaction, and there was slow, deliberate, actions that could cause long term pain and infinite amounts of hesitation in the future. "Fine." He knew, that she knew, he only said that, when he was annoyed. He smiled to himself, it was shaping up to be an intriguing evening. A short seven minutes later he found himself at the apartment. At which point he let himself in without a knock. "I'm here. Thrill me." he said in a flat, displease voice.

Catherine Nilson: Cat stood up and cleared her throat. "Dad," she stated, then put her hand on Vasik's shoulder. He was a good seven years older than her, but she felt a deep and overpowering need to protect him and watch him grow into a mighty elder vampire. "This is Vasik. My... spawn." Doc liked to use the word spawn, so maybe he would be less annoyed with her if she used it.

Vasik: Logan jumped up from the couch and brushed himself off. He stood at attention like a soldier information, ready for an emotional and possibly physical pounding. His arms were straight down to his sides, spine tightened in a straight line, feet together. Should he have sat on the couch? Was he intruding too much? "Actually sir, my name is Logan." He didn't want to correct Cat, but he'd rather correct his sire than deceive his grandsire.

Doc: Doc looked at Cat, and then canted his head to the side ever so slightly, and stared at the Spawn. "Vasik.. from the list?" He reached for the firearm.. then 'it' jumped up, at attention. Doc paused. It knew manners. "Then why does she call you ...Vasik?" He gave Cat a hard look as if she were trying to pull something on him.

Catherine Nilson: Cat gave Doc a poker face. She was going to have to let the childe field this one. He could explain it better, since it was his body.

Vasik: "Sorry sir. She may not have known. See, I have..." He stared at the barrel of the gun and swallowed hard. "I have... multiple personalities... n-not that straight in the head, haha."

Doc: Doc slid a glance between Cat and her 'spawn'. The Spawn seemed willing to make a good impression, so why was it urgent. What was he not seeing? And then, as if on cue it explained. "I see." He did. He had been doing research since he turned Cat. He knew very well what MPD was. "How many?"

Catherine Nilson: Cat was relieved, Doc seemed to be more curious now than irritated by her interruption of whatever it was he had been doing. She looked back and forth between Logan and Doc.

Vasik: "Um... there's me... there's Vasik, and then there's..." He stopped for a moment. "Well, we don't have a name for him. We call him the Mirror. Vasik and I share this body. You may have come in contact with Vasik before, I'm not sure. I can see and feel things briefly when he's in control. The Mirror though, we can't get a read on him. He originally appeared outside of us, beating Vasik, being the voice of darkness in his mind. But recently... last night I mean... the Mirror took over my body." Logan's face showed his distress as his mind flashed to images from the night previous.

Doc: "Alright. There are .. at least three of you.. and" he slid a glance at Cat. One or more of them the personalities were being an issue. That was why Cat texted. She recognized something.. in this personality that was off. Where they were in tandem? Or separately? "Why are you being an asshole?"

Vasik: "It's not me sir! No, I try to convince Vasik away from... things. But it's the Mirror. Vasik usually has control of my body, but the Mirror uses Vasik, tries to convince him to harm others to better himself, to raise his self-image, or so I believe. Vasik is easily moved when he wants power. He strives for it, and he believes the Mirror to be like a tutor. Like last night... he told Vasik to "punish" Paige and..." Logan would not continue. His voice trailed off as he looked down towards Cat in shame.

Catherine Nilson: "Paige is okay, don't worry," Cat reassured both Logan and Doc. She sighed and gave Doc a guilty look. "This is all my fault. If I hadn't come along, Logan would still be himself. Now he's this guy who cuts on himself, and this arrogant jerk, and this creepy jerk."

Doc: Doc noted his look of shame, and he curled a lip contemptuously, ******* pansy-***-hippy. "Right. I don't believe you. Cat wouldn't have asked me so 'urgently' to come, if it was Vasik or Mirror...it was you being the problem. What are you doing?"
Vasik: Logan was about done with this interrogation. He was on his brink, which was a rare occasion. This was his time to stand up for himself. "Hey, look, I'm not a problem. Sure, I have no self-esteem. I have trouble accepting who I am now. I don't feed enough. But look, I'm not the problem. If it were me, I'd be just sewer trash. Vasik has given me more, a better life!" Was he actually defending his inner demon for once? Logan was stricken by his own surprise for a second, then continued.

"--The following transcript was a live chat roleplay--"

Vasik: "The Mirror, he's the negative influence within us. And last night, he actually manifested in this body rather than appearing as a double and fighting us. I feel like I'm losing myself, and that could be trouble for all of us." With that last statement, he tried to sound convicted.

Catherine Nilson: "But you cut yourself every night," Cat told Logan. "You're as much a danger to yourself as Vasik is to humans."

Doc: Doc perked up at the mention of Paige. Paige .. that was her ******* name.. Why couldn't he remember that? Because it was a ******* lame name. Mako. She was Mako in his head, far better than.. 'page' or 'book' for that matter. But she was not the issue. Logan.. was the issue. Logan. He recalled something called "Logan's run" all about a man running from reality.. or destiny.. Doc decided it was a man on run because he couldn't face the future. And it was appropriate to this excuse for a 'spawn'. He looked at Cat, "You want to keep this 'sub-spawn' specimen? You really want me .. " he pinched the bridge of his nose for a moment, before collecting himself, and saying in a disgusted voice ".. to .. *******... help it?"

Vasik: "If you keep insulting us, the Mirror might have intent to sabotage you, or worse. But I am genuine!" He put his hand on his chest, throwing his other back, leaning forward. "This is me! My body! And if it weren't for me, there would be hundreds of humans DEAD. The masquerade would be ended!"

Catherine Nilson: Cat stared into her sire's eyes earnestly and nodded fast. She was in over her head. She didn't want her childe to keep hurting himself. And Logan didn't want to be fixed.

Doc: Doc snarled soundlessly at Cat, so she would know, he was doing this for her.. FOR HER. Because he wanted to ******* kill it now. It being Logan. Logan, the ******* lame *** hippy SPAWN. Doc turned an emotionless face to the impassioned Logan. "Wee. You saved hundreds of humans.. woo. I. am. thrilled." the last three words, said dryly. He pointed to his grimaced face. "This is my thrilled face." Then he rolled his eyes, and said "That was sarcasm. I hope do so hope you understand sarcasm. First. Your argument doesn't hold water. He would have killed.. 4 maybe 5.. before he was sent to the shadow realm." He smiled coldly, "Then if ‘he’ was strong enough to come back.. he would have learned from his mistakes.” He canted his head to the side.. "All you have done.. is made him frustrated and angry. What does that mean?" He made a wide eyed face at Logan. "Oh.. lets see..: Maybe it means.. that 1. his victims will suffer far more than they should have.. or 2. that he had gotten smarter while you shielded him.. or 3. You are ******* liar.. and you're covering for his ***.. " He winced. "All three scenarios.. it sucks to be... You."

Vasik: Logan was ready to storm out of the apartment, fists shaking wildly. He knew he had to be careful with this creature. He was much more knowledgeable of the vampire world than he by far. Still, the last statement only furthered his low self-esteem. Yeah, he wanted to die, to be no more, but he felt if he revealed that information to Doc that it would mean a very painful, wretched departing. Either that or a brief death with no emotion. Was he really that craving of love and attention? He was disgusted with himself. Hopefully Cat wouldn't speak more of Logan's issues with his depression.

Catherine Nilson: Cat rubbed her forehead. Why couldn't her dad phrase things more nicely? And why wouldn't Logan accept that it was wrong to beat himself up so much? The two weren't helping either of each other.

Doc: "So this is what remains.. YOU are the issue. You .. are the reason Cat called me. YOU are the reason that Vasik could go postal.. YOU are the reason Mirror.." Doc narrowed his eyes at Logan, "... is trying to intercede." He stared at Logan. "You know what you need to do. You're just too chicken to do it." He smirked coldly, and looked at Cat. "That's what this is about.. he wants to end it all.. he wants them to shut the hell up.. but hes too weak.. so he is threaten to kill them all.. hoping they will back the **** off." He snorts derisively. "Let him ******* kill himself.. " He said to Cat, his tone earnest, "I promise, I will be nice to what's his name.. Julie.."

Catherine Nilson: "No, dad. He isn't gonna kill himself. He's got a business, and he doesn't break the masquerade." Cat hugged her childe.

Doc: "****.. Yes he does.. he wants to ******* end it all.. but he’s passive aggressive.. he wants it done for him." He gives Cat a look, "Butch the **** up Cat.. you're a SIRE now.. don't coddle his ***. You really think anyone else is going to give him a pass? Maybe some freaking hippy *** like Pratt. Do you really want that?"

Catherine Nilson: "No!" Cat covered Logan's ears and whispered "Don't even say that guy's name, seriously."

Vasik: Logan was tempted to grab Doc's gun and just blow off his head in front of them, but something inside of him wanted to prove him wrong. He didn't want to give Doc the satisfaction. As Cat embraced him, he sought out a new vindication, a goal to be a true vampire. With a steaming face, he inquired, "Who's Pratt?"

Doc: 'Yes.. Logan and Pratt.. How will that go over.. ?" He gives Cat a look, "That's what you are ******* enabling! A whiney *** 'poor pitiful me' Prattling." He snorts, "You want him to survive.. he needs to ******* butch up. Or else he will be the next Pratt. And you can spend your eternity visiting him in the shadow realm.. cause that is where he will ******* live."

Catherine Nilson: Cat slowly removed her hands from Logan's ears. She looked at Logan closely, then told him "Pratt is some hippy dippy human apologist. He makes everybody else do his dirty work for him, and they die while he hides."

Doc: "God Cat.. look at him.. He's ******* .. CRYING!" He threw his hands up, "There is NO crying In VAMPIREs! No CRYING!" He aimed the firearm at Logan's head, "Let me just ******* Finish him now. It will only hurt for a second."

Vasik: "I didn't ASK to be here. But fine, just end it. I don't give a ****!" His face turned red with anger, matching his fiery hair. "Just do it, or I'll..." His face twitched a little. The boy deftly grabbed the barrel of the gun, plugging the hole with his thumb. "Ah-ah... sorry about that. My colleague does not wish to speak on our behalf. Well, he shouldn't, not unless you meet me first. I am Vasik. And I, for one, do not wish to die today."

Catherine Nilson: Cat sighed with relief. "Hi Vasik," she said flatly. That was close. At least he didn't want to kill himself all the time. Cat was at her wit's end anyway.

Doc: As soon as Logan put his thumb in or over the barrel, Doc squeezed the trigger. He sighed in a long suffering manner, did people not ******* research firearms, before they tried ****? Obviously not. Sticking a phalanges in the barrel did ****.. except for blow the ******* hand to ******* pieces. Thank you 1970's spaghetti westerns for erroneous information. "Ow." he said dispassionately. "Hmm Maybe "Logan" will think twice before he ******* tries that **** again.. "
