My apologies.

Im not a yim rp'er and I refuse to rp on yim unless it's posted to the forum. I dont consider writers who strictly rp in yim to be active. You dont see it, you dont know theres a story to possibly get involved in and according to the rules, it doesnt exist if not on the forum or grid. Which grid isnt seen either and those are purged every so often. If it's not on forum, it doesn't exist in my and Madison's world.

There is a lot of great advise and vibes in this thread. Kudos! My dilemma is quite the same as what was already spoken about. Mostly though, its on me for not having the time to focus, write consistently, and attend to the game on a near 18 hours basis as I once was used to. <BTW I miss too>

I think Elliot is in SoA. We should plot some fun stuff for Temperance and Elliot to do or just get to know one another. I'm trying to get Tempy back out into the know of things and the only way she can do that is by being her old social butterfly self.

I'm better with plotted ideas and working through a story that has a means to end otherwise my inspiration can quickly go down the tubes and I fall into a slump that writing gets to be 'work'. Now-a-days I work soo much as it is that I want to have fun and enjoy the story and enjoy writing it (with the little time I have). If I have to think and probe for the next thing my character is going to do; the longer it takes it's frustrating (no one else's fault) and I have a hard time wanting to write the piece.

If that helps.... let's plot! Though I would advise we start at the New Year when I should have the current RPs I'm in buttoned up more. I'd hate to leave you off in the wind again due to other threads + my limited time. I'm not always available in yim, so plotting in PM is best, or a googly doc that we can share :)

My apologies, as I want saying you were wrong, Madison. I'm not saying anything I wrote can't be posted to the forum; that's the bulk of my leveling. It's just how people catch me, on Yahoo or GDocs. I was merely giving my input on why Asteria is seemingly inactive.

That's kinda what I was curious about.

These type of threads generally fulfill a short term want for the sire instead of offering a long-term plot-based incentive for the childe. I'm more interested in plot, and if the plot isn't there, I get bored. There's no interest for me to play a notch in someone's siring bedpost, so to speak, and if that's all there is going on plot-wise, I can totally see why there's not much incentive to stay active.

I'd rather take a character who has plots and add to that, rather than making a new character.

It makes me wonder why that is. He's got a lot of childer; what made them inactive? Would this same thing (or things) make me not want to play the character actively?

I'll be honest, Asteria is still actively written. Is she written much on the forum? No, and it does have a bit to do with OOC.

However, what got me most was back when you still had Zelda, and even prior to it. I offered to plot with you because you were desperate for writing...but, you wanted people more active. Despite the fact that I was a willing participant, a willing plotter and writer, you said you were looking for something else. That didn't make me much want to write, overall, as it felt like, "oh, you need to live on the computer to be worth the effort to write". While that may not have been the intent, that's how it felt and I shut down a bit more.

I am still active. I write, but not much with Lancaster, despite Asteria's want to try and write with Lan. In my mind, I'm not active enough for the player behind the man.

Does that mean I won't ever write with him again? No, not at all. That just means that, unless I have more time to devote to faster replies, I didn't see a point in bringing up ideas.

And, I'm sorry if this reads any sort of way as it isn't intended to. It's merely my honest viewpoint, cut to the quick, on why Asteria is seemingly not in the picture.
I do appreciate your honest viewpoint.

Claire has the right of it, though - I'm the same. If I don't see things posted to the forum, I assume there's not activity. You once said there was plots happening with Asteria, I think, but I thought they must never have come to fruition because I could never read them.

I do remember that conversation and I am sorry that it bummed you. I will be honest - it's not about liking people to live on their computers. I don't live on mine. I have a full time job and I am often away (though yes, I am slightly almost always here when I'm not at work. XD) It's about completion of plots. We have had so many threads in the past with Elliot and Asteria and they were never completed. I don't care how long a person takes to reply - that's not a thing at all. I'd love to write with you, Aly, and I do love writing with you but because of the unfinished threads I assumed you were bored with me, or something. lol

This thread was my roundabout way of searching for plot. And every other thread that I put up with Elliot that doesn't get a bite. I WANT plots for him, everything I do, I do for plot. Anyone who knows me at all will know that - and yes, I know that those reading this thread might not know me and I should have been a bit more specific. It's feedback that I will take on board next time I create a thread. I'll be more specific about what I'm looking for and what else I have to offer.

It's not about GETTING. It's not about a notch or about numbers, as I have already said. All Elliot's childer, when they were sired, were very thoroughly written with. It's not as if I ask for childer and then just leave them to their own devices.

Soul wrote: So I know that got a little off topic, but...It kinda just needed to come out, ya know? But yeah, Elliot seems cool. If Soul were a vampire, who knows. But if you're ever in the market for some human plottage...hit me up.
I'm always in the market for any kind of plottage, human or otherwise. If it were Jesse? Probably less chance of human plottage. But Elliot doesn't care. XD

Lets! I did feel bad about ditching Zelda on you, with that thread she had with... was it with Myk?

We can start in the New Year - I'll start trying to think of some things in the mean time (and get Elliot a bit more active with SoA. Heh).

I tend (personally) to treat childer as inactive if the player isn't around and doesn't update me on things. >.<

I get what you're saying, but there are some people who lose character muse for weeks or months at a time, or who are only around sporadically due to OOC issues.

There are also those who prefer not to play on the forum for a myriad of reasons, like people who speak English as a second language (and aren't comfortable with longform for that reason).

Which isn't to say I think you're wrong! I just tend to be lax about what I consider 'inactive' because when you label someone's character that, they tend to take offense. Especially if they move them on grid (which I'm not saying is the case), or are around to be contacted OOC. I've known people that dropped characters outright for that reason - because they thought they were being disrespected because they weren't 'around' to the other person's satisfaction.

Does that make sense?

I only bring it up because I've seen the phrase 'only xyz active childer' thrown around a lot, and that's sort of why I don't advertise that way myself. >.< I don't feel like it's legitimate incentive, and can in some cases, do more damage than not.

That's another part of my issue. As much as I write Asteria as having lapses in English, lately my own has been pretty bleak. Heather has to translate and help me grapple with words more, which is frustrating in its own right, and settling down to write on the forum can be pretty daunting. Not always, but it can get to that point where I feel like it's more work to try and translate my thoughts in long form.
