Melody waited for a few minutes after Serendipity left the room and looked at herself again. She wasn’t a rotting corpse. She just wasn’t. Right? Maybe. She didn’t want to turn on the lights to see, that was for sure. But she’d always had a beautiful body, prided herself on it, so maybe it was just her sick sense of self loathing coming out in another way. She figured that was her issue, and had figured it was since they started, but they were sporadic enough she didn’t want to think about it. Crawling out of her bed she tossed the covers off herself and the bed, knowing she was gonna need to change her clothes too, she tossed them in the pile. Laundry soon then. Great. She pulled on non-blood-soaked clothing and sighed. Yeah, she figured that Seren would still be up. So she kicked the dirty crap in the corner, grabbed something from under her bed, and walked to the other womans room.

Listening at the door she just heard the general sound of restlessness and decided that was fine, sort of. She could take her mind off that at least, but this wasn’t the way she’d planned it. They would both need more sleep eventually, but this would occupy Seren why she cleaned up the rest of the mess and went to the 24/7 laundrymat. These days she figured anyone who wondered why someone was doing laundry at the asscrack of dawn would still be locked away in their house hoping the Mayor did something about the ‘crime’. Momento moved to open the door and walked over to the bed, dropping the book on the bed. She turned to say something, opening her mouth, and shut it again. Rethinking her words. “Reading material to help you sleep,” she finally said, knowing there wasn’t a damn word in the book. It was filled with pictures of Melody as a child. A fun outspoken colorful child with her mother. The bossy attention craving with her Father and step sister. Pictures she’d added herself of Lizzie and her at parties. Ones she’d even printed off facebook before she stopped using it completely. Some of her just drunk as **** doing stupid ****, so she’d remember to keep her wits about her next time. Not that there would be a next time.

She turned and walked from the room before the other woman even cracked the book. Melody didn’t need to see it all again. This was just for Seren to get a glimpse of who she really was at one point. Really, that had more to do with just showing her friend that she was just that. A friend. Because what kind of friend acts like she was dropped out of the sky being a hating hard ***** to the world?

As the door opened, Seren looked over to her and sat up. The book looked as though it was a photo album of sorts and yet, she said reading material. Momento turned to wander off and Seren fought the desperate urge to grab the woman by the arm and pull her into the bed. Make her talk to her. Make her explain the things she had seen in the other room. Yet, she knew she couldn't. This thought was something that would keep Seren up for a long while.

Momento exited the room without a word being spoke from Seren but, she was curious about this new book. She grabbed it, sitting all the way up. Opening the book, Seren was hit with a wave from these pictures. Child pictures, which she could only guess were Momento. Her head tilted as she smiled a bit. A baby Momento. Before anything happened. Anything had changed. Babies were naturally good. Born with a clean slate. Its the surroundings and the people that shape them. She had to be only about 4 when the pictures had really started. Still a baby. Her fingers moved over the pictures of her and her mother. Tracing the woman's features. Momento looked so much like her. She could see it written all over the pictures. But she looked so happy.

As Seren flipped through these pictures, a terrible sadness overtook her. Something she had not felt in a long time. Nothing could really compare to it. Her mind had to wonder what had happened to the woman she loved so much that turned her from this happy and outgoing person in these photos to the trigger happy, cold and anti social woman she was now. Not that Seren loved her any more or less the way she was. In Seren's eyes, she was perfectly Momento now. Still, there was that looming question. What happened? Why? How had this happened?

The pages continued to turn and she had to chuckle a bit, even through the sadness as she looked at a couple of pictures of a drunk Momento. That was a sight indeed. Seren couldn't really remember a time that she had been this drunk. She looked as though she had several too many and Serry was usually pretty good at stopping when she had needed to. Mome didn't look like she had that in these pictures. It made her giggle just slightly.

As she finished the book, she frowned a bit more and realized how tired she really was. She slid back down in the bed, her mind going over the pictures in her mind once again and still, that looming question presented itself. What happened? She sighed and hugged to the book as she lay there. Her eyes closing while her mind still searched for all the possible answers. Couldn't have just been Sliver, could it? Something else had to have happe... And she was out, still clutching to the book. The morning would bring questions and, if the book was there, probably another look. She was sure of that but for now, she was just too tired to stay awake. It was been a long and exhausting night. Sleep was now her best friend.
