Kenlie Wait, half hour ride to where? Where exactly we goin'? And I ain't quiet. Kenlie just pretended that couldn't be taken as a sexual innuendo and took a long drag from her cig.
Dominique "This works. Seal it up so during the day we aren't all fried up? Boner is captain does the answering if any questions?"
Boner never figured you would be.
Roderic thinks we're never making it there, but it will be a great fishing trip
Boner There's living quarters below. Sealing it off won't be an issue.
Dominique bites her bottom lip already packing in her head."So we doing this?"
Kenlie I'm in. Kenlie put her fist out.
Roderic brings two fingers to his forehead and salutes captain boner.
Dominique put HOPE out.
Kenlie bumped RAIN to HOPE.
Dominique hugged her tight.
Kenlie kissed her cheek and swept her hair back. "Family vacation on the water, here we come?"
Dominique reached out and brought Ric in closer with the curl of a finger to his belt loop.
Kenlie ... But seriously, where are we going?
Dominique "Coming? Mother ******* Tahiti!"
Kenlie started making calculations in her head.
Roderic flicks the cigarette to the dock and puts it out on the dock. "And miss the fishing trip of the lifetime? I'm coming." He grins as his fingers go around the waist of her skirt.
Kenlie How fast does your vessel go?
Dominique waits for the answer and reaches back to pat the *** behind her.
Roderic 's fingers dip into her skirt, to let her know what kind of fishing I was talking about. "So Boner, how many trips have you captained before?" I ask curiously, not that it mattered. Women and directions. I don't know how they thought we were going to get to Tahiti. "You like fishing?" Roderic assumes boner is along with the idea to fish, since he kind of smells like ocean. Or water. Or fish.
Boner Been fishin' me whole life, almost. So quite a few. I love fishin'. It's 'ow I stay alive.
Dominique nods slowly eyeing Boner. He sure did.
Roderic knew it. "Then you're the man for the job. Ladies couldn't have picked anyone better." I look at Dom. "So how do you know Dom and Kenlie?" My eyes return back to Boner.
Dominique scratches at her ear like something had been annoying her.
Boner They hired me one night to do some, uh.
Boner Work.
Boner If you know what I mean.

Dominique smiles a bit.
Boner And I found it a bit difficult to stay away from them afterward.
Roderic was familiar with 'work.' I nod slowly. "Great way to meet people. Doing illegal things."
Boner Beautiful women and the sea are hard to stay away from. I wouldn't say it's illegal. Frowned upon, sure.
Dominique nods slowly looking at her feet then back up. "Yeah. All legit really. Just depends on who is looking at it."
Roderic "Sort of like waltzing into someone's apartment. Completely legal." I grin a little, before releasing the waist of her skirt.
Boner Absolutely!
Dominique "I had a reason to be there." Foster still was ignoring her calls. "But Boner was there for us and we got his back."
Boner So long as you don't get caught, you're fine. Especially if the door was unlocked.
Dominique nods. It actually was. Boner knew ****. “Your door was too, Cubby." Dominique shrugs.
Boner You ladies 'ave me as long as you need me.
Dominique beams. "We claiming you forever."
Roderic just nodded. I was processing things. Connecting them together, so to speak. Boner rated well in Dom and Kenlie's life. "You know anyone named Foster?" I look directly at Boner.
Kenlie grabbed a beer from her bag and used the edge of her belt to crack it open.
Roderic fingers snap as a thought comes to mind. "We need to get some bait, Boner. I know right where to get some."
Boner I'm already 'bout halfway through my forever. And not to my recollection, no. I don't.

Dominique eyes him."Well..."Dominique suddenly shoots a look to Ric.
Roderic was going to hunt down foster and make some really great bait tonight. "Yeah?"
Dominique it was going to be that or her wild kingdom becoming endangered.
Roderic "Boner, how old are you? The average male in canada lives, I'd imagine 85 years."
Boner I'll be celebratin' the twenty-third anniversary of me twenty-first birthday soon.
Dominique cocks her head and inclines it when the question is asked. Dominique nudges Kenlie.
Boner So 'bout halfway through..
Dominique "Pretty sure I can deal with ric if needed. No worries."
Boner caught Dominque's nudge, and lifted a fluffy eyebrow.
Roderic nods. "And you're...vanilla? You know...average? Regular?" Roderic was sizing the guy up, seeing what his story was.
Dominique head backs up as if her mind just went wtf. "What the hell are you on about?" Dominique looks to Boner. "He stuffs things and the chemicals..."
Boner I mean, I like it a little frisky here and there, and depends on what you mean by average.
Boner But I guess? I stuff things, too. It's a man thing. I understand.
Dominique dark eyes move slowly between the two men brows slowly rising. Dominique could tell Doc was going to be so jealous.
Roderic 's face is met with both palms.
Kenlie was just watching this whole conversation happen, smirking.
Roderic "Nah man, I mean are you as you are when you were born? A regular human?" I stop. "What do you stuff? Animals?"
Dominique shakes her head. Doc is barely dropped from radar and there is Ric lining up a new bro.
Kenlie He's pure blood, Ric. Not like me or Dom, if that's what you mean.
Boner I'm a pure blood mutt, maybe.
Dominique admired BOner's juicy beauty and it wasn't about all the blood he had. She saw bootylicious Boner.
Boner Grew up in Maine. Hated it. Came further north.
Roderic looks at Dom and then at Kenlie and stares.
Boner And animals in a way.
Dominique stares back at Ric. She hoped that it didn't mean she was getting cut off.
Boner continued babbling despite the awkward staring going on.
Dominique "What..." eyes Ric. "True story. Happens everyday."
Boner You ever seen a swordfish dick before?
Dominique sank next to Kenlie. "Here it comes. I knew it."
Roderic looks at Boner. "No. How many have you seen?"
Boner Well I skin and filet the bitches so a few.
Kenlie covered her face and sunk deeper into her seat, cracking up.
Dominique can't help giggling when Kenlie does.
Roderic "I've not really worked with too many fish, so I can't say I've ever seen a fish dick." I'm sure I haven't. Or am I?
Dominique looks down at him. Dominique eyes quickly dart away.
Boner If you ever do, don't feel bad. Even the best of men can't stand up to some of 'em.
Roderic looks at Boner. "So is it edible?"
Boner left out the fact that swordfish spawned.
Boner Absolutely.
Roderic "So I assume, you've enjoyed a good dicking or two before, huh?" I say, perfectly straight faced.
Dominique hit google search on her cell. Okay, so that wasn't a swordfish...tilts the cell...or was it?
Boner It's much better to give than to get. Especially when you're talking about such delicacies.
Dominique leaned in to Kenlie. "Not so sure about that."
Roderic cracks a grin before chuckling. "This guy is nuts. I like him." I knew he was full of ****, but he had a good sense of humor on him. As twisted as it was.
Kenlie offered Dom a drink of her beer. Guinness.
Roderic "So when are we leaving, captain B?" I might have arrangements to make. Things to pack. Collect.
Dominique takes the bottle and sips.
Boner offered a giant, buffooning smile. "Glad I'm at least tolerable for ye." And we'll leave soon as these ladies tell me we need to. Might take a day or so to pack everything but.
Kenlie So... again... how fast does the boat go?
Dominique wonders if packing now was a good idea.

Doc: The male heard the screeching, it sounded like a dying pig. He forced his eyes open, where he saw a drenched and angry woman looking in his direction. He frowned. His initial thought was, ‘why was she wet?’ His puzzlement grew as she took off her shoe. What was she going to do with.. “OW!” The man held his head where the shoe had hit him.

Doc: The ******* ***** threw her shoe at him! What the **** was her problem? And who the **** was she? He gave her a death glare. He didn’t know who she was, but he could easily envision his hands around her throat, her face turning purple as he squeezed the life out of her. He slowly sat up. His narrowed gaze never leaving her face, she so much as move and he would be on her, killing her.

Cytherea: "Ow? OW?!" she all but screamed at him. Every limb hurt, pain reflecting on her face for a moment or two before she attempted to stand, a fire burning in her golden irises. "Oh. Don't worry darling, it won't crash. Calm down. You're insane. No Doc. You're insane. I warned you. Did you listen? Of course you didn't." She ranted, oblivious to his murderous gaze, or the fact that she was walking closer to him in her own fit of rage.

Doc: The Banshee ranted and raved like he was supposed to know or care about her day? ******* Females. It was always about them. “Listen Lady.. and I use that word loosely…” his words were cold and clipped, “I do not give a flying **** what your Doctor told you.. Shut - the - **** - up.” His lips curled into a barely concealed snarl. The blank cold stare, was one that clearly said, ‘try me.. See if I don’t kill you.’

Cytherea: Immediately she ceased her rant, the shock evident. Had he actually just spoken to her like that...? Eyes widened, lips parting as she stared. Doc would probably think she was scared now, doing as he said. But the twitch in her jaw told a different story, and without any thought she picked up the closest chair and swung it straight into his face. "You're walking a thin line here, darling." She snarled the last bit. Watching as the chair completely broke apart around his head. If he even dared keep this up, one of them would be dying for good.

Doc: The male didn’t know how he managed to react as quickly as he did, lifting his arm to block his face, as the chair shattered upon connecting with it. But that was all it took. This ***** was a about to learn a ******* lesson, with speed born from anger, the man was on his feet and spinning a roundhouse kick to the Banshee’s jaw. He seethed with pent up rage, even as she was sent flying across the room. He smiled a feral smile, eyes empty of emotion, as he gestured with two fingers for her to try and bring it at him.

Cytherea: It wasn't abnormal for them to fight, after all, this had been the foundation for their marriage. In almost all the fights Cyth and Doc had, she had been victorious with the majority. But this was different. This wasn't just a spar to test each other's abilities. This was the intent to kill and destroy. It happened instantly, and her hands barely made it to her face, the kick sending her soaring into the air and the picture behind them. Maybe this was just one of his games, trying to scare her into submitting? I think not. Picking up a shard of glass that had splintered from the frame, she urged her training to aid her, speed on her side as she charged, the glass being forced into the side of his neck. If he wanted to play games. Fine.

A typical anniversary is spent alone with your partner celebrating the time you’ve already had together. Most people would celebrate by having a nice dinner out, possibly exchanging gifts, doing something they enjoyed. But since when has Kae’s life ever been typical? She was a teenage vampire with emotional issues who was dating a magic human more than twice her age. Nothing typical about that at all. For their first anniversary, they’d be cruising along in a fishing boat, making their way to Tahiti….sounds nice and romantic, right? Maybe it would be if it weren’t for the entourage that they were going with, and for the reason they were going.

She had begged him not to go. Told him numerous times she didn’t want him to leave. Of course she was probably being childish about it, but he didn’t listen and now look at the situation he was in! Doc’s plane had crashed and now he was stuck god knows where waiting for them to rescue him….or maybe not...he could be completely fine. But the way Kae’s brain worked….Papi was as good as dead if they didn’t come rushing to the rescue right away.

The logistics of how all of this was going to work...well that wasn’t for her to figure out. Not her area of expertise. Hopefully one of the others could help in that department. Probably Stag. He was always cool headed and clear. He could figure out what all they needed to do. And that Boner guy...who the hell is named Boner? He was strange, but he was fluffy and looked snuggly. Maybe he’d be ok if he’d stop talking about swordfish penises. Dom would provide plenty of entertainment on their long journey...she was funny and Kae really liked her. Roderic seemed cool. But he was more worried about fishing than saving her Papi. This would need to change. Kenlie was going too. Uuuuugh. That was going to be hell. One of them was going to end up swimming with the sharks. Hopefully the two of them could pull it together just for this one trip.

Kaelyn looked at the pile of bags by the door. Surely she had everything she’d need. The blonde had laid out the outfits individually on the bed with their matching accessories and shoes before packing each very carefully into her suitcase. She might be traveling on a boat, but she’d at least look good. One suitcase full of clothing. A duffel bag of shoes. A smaller suitcase full of necessities like a blow dryer, straightener, and other items one might need to get ready for the night. And of course, she had her case full of all of her beautiful toys. Different sized guns with plenty of ammo and blades. She nodded her head with a smile. Perfect! Everything a girl could need on a trip into the jungle. Everything except for probably anything actually important. Things like bug spray, first aid, machete and all that….well, those never crossed her mind. That’s what she had a boyfriend for, right?

Seeing Stagger walk from the bedroom, she grinned widely up at him. “Ok, I think I’ve got everything. I’m ready to go save Papi!!”

Doc: He growled, but the sound was lost due to the cut in his throat. He would admit it.. He had underestimated the ***** once, but he wouldn’t underestimate her again. His gaze locked on her, zero’d in on her, as he reached down with his right hand and grabbed a piece of the broken chair as she bounced back a step and gave him an arrogant haughty look, He rolled his shoulders as he advanced on her. He gripped and twirled the splintered wooden leg, bolting forward bringing the chair leg in a backswing toward her face. He missed. He bared his teeth in feral snarl. As he stepped sideways trying hit at her again.

Cytherea: It was a game of defence now, until his guard was dropped, and in that moment she'd send him flying through the damn window into the sun outside. It wouldn't kill him, but he would be in too much pain to spar for a while, and at that point she would have won. Twice she had dodged his attacks, and twice now he had dodged hers. The longer this went on, the less chance she had of winning. It had shocked her that she evenly matched him, for she had slacked in her training as of late. So in a desperate attempt at ending the battle, she aimed her fist directly at his face, intending to break his nose.

Doc: She was a wily one, very agile and fleet of foot. She was able to parry or sidestep his every advance. He was single-minded now. She was going to die. Just as he made that determination in his mind, she messed up. She tried to punch him. As he dodged her right hook, he caught her wrist at the same time. He was stronger than she was, he smiled a very grim and deadly smile at her, as he used his strength and power to force her to her knees, and then even further down to the floor, by kicking her legs out from under her. As she went down, He slammed the wooden piece of broken chair, like a stake into her chest.

Cytherea: A miscalculation, a very deadly one, had Cytherea on her back, blood spluttering forth from her mouth as the make-shift weapon surged through her chest. It missed her heart, but just barely. This was no game. Doc wanted to kill her. Had he finally snapped? Did he not want to be with her anymore? Had he brought her out her to kill her and be fully rid of her? Fear shone in her eyes then. And without thinking her hand shot out, touching any part of bare flesh should could find so she could pacify him. This was her only option for survival, because right now, he had the upper hand, and he was using that to drive the stake deeper.

Doc: He had her at his mercy, he was ready to go for the kill, but for some inexplicable reason, the desire to feel her body go limp and lifeless left him. He rocked back on his heels, the stake dropping from his hand, uncaringly. He coughed, then he felt his his throat. He could tell there was a gaping hole. But the oddest thing, there was no blood. The female forgotten now, as he tried to wrap his mind around the fact that he should have been slick with blood. Pulling his hand away from the neck wound, he looked at his hand. There was no blood. Why wasn’t there blood? He fell back into on to his *** on the floor, staring in a perplexed fashion at his hand. All of a sudden he was tired, sore, and his head head hurt. What the hell was wrong with him?

Cytherea: It was evident something wasn't right with Doc. There didn't appear to be any wounds on his person, besides the ones she had inflicted. So what could be causing this bizarre shift in his personality? It was as if he didn't even know her. Either this was some sick game of his, where he was trying to get rid of her, or his head had suffered some damage, causing his memory to falter. There was only one way to find out. Concentrating, she called forth the last of her power, forcing her memories into Doc's brain. The only downside was that he would feel everything she had, a useful Telepath power when you wanted to burden someone's mind, that wasn't the goal tho. She wanted to force him to remember who he was, who they were. And when he did, she was going to take the stake that remained in her chest and shove it into his damn crotch. For now though, she laid on the floor, bleeding, waiting. Had it worked?

Tahiti? Where the hell was that? Stagger Lee had had much different plans to celebrate Kaelyn’s and his anniversary. It had been such an amazing year together. From day one on. He had been looking forward to an intimate celebration of their anniversary, one that would bring them even closer together.

But that had to wait for now. They had to look for Doc and Cytherea. And they had to get going as quick as possible. What did he need now? The location where his plane last had appeared on the radar. A vessel to take them there. Equipment for a search.

So much to organize in just a few days. Fortunately Stag knew some people that sold outdoor equipment or fishing supplies. Maps he bought too. Hopefully one of the party knew that region of the world though.

Stag had never been outside of North America. The USA, Canada, northern Mexico. That was all he knew of the world. His map told him that Tahiti was about as far from the equator as Hawaii. So it probably would be rather warm there. They still would need clothes that protect them from the elements, from the storms and the rain. But it wouldn’t have to be as heavy as the kind of clothing you need for an arctic expedition.

Means he wouldn’t have to use that much of the limited space on deck for clothes. Excellent. More room for weapons. Fishing equipment. Jungle gear. His computer. Which was extremely important. Hacking into the databases of the French and New Zealand air surveillance in the region could possibly tell him more about the missing vampires’ location.

Stag had spent a good amount of time gathering the necessary equipment. Time he would have rather spend celebrating with his girlfriend. Finally packed he was glad Kaelyn was around. “Yes I think I am ready.” He said, checking the list of gear on his smart phone. There were a few things he wasn’t able to get in such a short time. Professional diving equipment for example. Just in case. But they had only limited space on the boat anyway. So he hoped what they had would do.

He kissed his girl gently, then looked at what she had gathered, and shook his head in shock. Ugh. He hated to have to admonish her now. So much rather he would have gone on a leisure trip with Kaelyn with her packing all the clothes he loved to see on her, all those sexy dresses and shoes and lingerie.

But unfortunately for a rescue expedition these things won’t do. “Darling. I am sorry but you cannot take all that with you.” He said sadly.

It had taken quite a bit of persuasion and arguing to get her to narrow her bags down. Didn’t he understand that this is “just what was needed.” Ugh. Men were able to pack so light...he wouldn’t get it. But he talked her down...Only one suitcase and a backpack. No purses and only ‘sensible’ shoes. But there was no way she was going without specific items...even if they were hard nos. The blonde would just have to be a bit more sneaky in getting them onto the boat.

While Stagger had been busy in the other room, she snuck over to his bag and rummaged through carefully. What the heck would he need a laptop for!? She couldn’t have a hair dryer, but he could have a laptop? Not fair. Where was he going to even get wifi connection out there in the middle of the water? Nope….laptop was pulled out of the bag and stuffed under the couch. It was replaced with her hair straightener and makeup bag. They took up about the same amount of room. She covered these up with his clothing before he could notice them in there. Maps? Really? Isn’t that what a GPS was for? They all had GPS on their phone...they wouldn’t need maps. Kaelyn lifted up the cushion of the couch and stuffed them under there. Maps were replaced with the novel she had been planning on starting. This trip was going to be long...she’d need something to do. Stagger’s bag was zipped back up and put back in the same exact position. He’d never know she’d been in there.

Ugs....short for ugly, the dog Dominique had given her, was laying on the floor by the couch. He looked up at her pitifully. Crap...who was going to take care of the animals? Kane maybe? She hadn’t spoken to him in a while, but he did still live in her apartment...therefore he could pet sit. But only Ugs and Caesar her kitten. Sam the flying squirrel...well she didn’t trust anyone to take care of him. He’d just have to come with. Stag would say no. Therefore, she just wouldn’t ask him. She’d make room for the tiny creature in her backpack...keep it partially unzipped for air til the boat left dock. Not much anyone could do about him once they were out on open water, right? Sam was going to love his little vacation!!

Dominique was standing on the dock with her back feeling the weight of the expedition backpack holding her down. The shadow’s bare inked shoulders were nearly covered at the toned caps thanks to the straps that were claimed to be designed to stay intact in hurricane force winds. It neglected to give the warning that given enough speed the well made pack could actually rip the buyers limbs from it’s body in such a perfect storm as well as do serious spinal damage. That was not the only unique feature to the heavy duty black canvas bag. It smelled like it had been rolled around the middle of her farm for several hours.

HOPE slid the sunglasses that were not needed over her forehead to rest on the top of her head. LESS finger flicked the last of the finely wrapped weed in her fingers to the water. She glanced around and gave the back of her head a casual massage with her fingertips. There were numerous boats. More than a few that looked promising enough to get them where they needed to go. Sliding a thumb beneath one of the straps gave her a little relief from the way it was digging into her skin. It didn’t hurt but it wasn’t entirely comfortable either. With a firm tug LESS had it off her back and resting with a dull thump at her sandaled feet. The hiking boots tied together to the backpack by their long laces bounced before settling.

“I guess this is it.”

She turned to take another look over at Ric who had obviously packed light for the trip. He appeared prepared for a night or two long fishing trip and not much more than that. She couldn’t see inside the bag he brought with and didn’t watch him pack it. Whatever was inside she trusted was what he felt pertinent to the adventure at hand. Hopefully they all did.

“Which boat you think is Captain Boner’s SS MINNOW?” She asked taking a second look at the vessels neatly bobbing in the countless slips around them.

The male groaned as the pain in his exploded. What had been a solid but dull throb, suddenly magnified into an intense cacophony of noise, color and strobing lights. Holding his head in his hands he shut his eyes, thinking .. or willing that meager action to lesson the riot that was taking place in his mind’s eye. It had happened suddenly, unexpectedly in an overwhelming and debilitating way. Flashes of broken and disjointed memories were flooding him. The ***** he just stabbed was in them. It didn’t make sense. It was brief, but vivid, she had a sword and cut off his arm. It felt so ******* real, but it could not be real. He could feel both hands holding his head.

Maybe he was going crazy. He didn’t know where he was. He didn’t know who he was. Pulling his head out of his hands, he opened his eyes and stared with manifest determination at his hands. He flexed one hand, then the other, then both together. He had two hands. Two arms. But that memory of her attacking him, seemed to play like a broken loop in his mind. Acting? Was it an act? For a movie? No.. he felt the electric jolt of pain as the limb was severed. His jaw reflected the pain he felt, as tendons and muscles strained under the skin. Then another memory, she was crying, he seemed to try to console her. Why? What the **** did it mean? Why attack him and then come to him for relief?

Memory flash after broken memory, each confusing him more than the one before it. The female screaming at him, hugging him, driving a car over him. Whatever or whoever she was.. She was ******* crazy. He needed to cut line, let the bait and tackle go, and get the **** out of Dodge. Moving to his knees, he forced himself to get to his feet. He needed to put some distance between them. He stumbled to the door, and threw it wide open, allowing sunlight to come flooding in. The light was blinding and made him squint, but outside he went. Anything was better than staying with the she devil from hell.

The heat of the sun bore down on him, he was hot and he felt vaguely sick on his stomach. Eyes shut as he felt his way across the boardwalk that lead to the beach, he stumbled and fell into the salt water. Maybe it was the water, but it had a cooling effect on him, and the noise in his head was lessening, the memories fading as though they were never there. Relief was evident in his movements as he began to swim for the shore. Each stroke stronger than the one before.

Once on the shore, the searing heat again played havoc with him. The feeling that any second he would combust into flames was subconsciously urging him forward. Go, find shelter.. Find shade. Rest, sleep. An inborn desire refusing to quieten, it had to be obeyed. He headed for the shelter of the jungle canopy.

I knew space was going to be limited on our trip, between all of us. Sure, Boner said it could fit six pretty comfortably, but give it two nights and everyone's going to be complaining about space. I brought a medium sized duffle bag with me, which housed only a few changes of clothes. More socks than clothes, but I was always taught and believed that you had to keep your feet dry and in top form. Probably something that wouldn't bother me now, being that I'm a vampire, but some things transferred over from when I was human still.

I also brought a small cooler with me. In it was two blood packs per person (with the exception of Stagger, Boner and myself), making a grand total of six blood packs. I could have fit a few more, but not with the bait I got last night. Foster had been a little more difficult to track down this time, but after just over four hours I found him in some chicks apartment with a couple of people. People scramble and are quick to leave when you come packing with a sword in each hand. His girlfriend, I can only assume by her incessant demands wasn't as smart as the others. I left her alive. Barely. I can only tolerate so much screaming before I have to do something about it.

Anyways, an hour later I had what remained of Foster in a large chest freezer in my shop, and a small, pint sized container of chum. Foster, chum. And Dominique? She knew none the better what was in the cooler that I put down next to her bag to look at the boats. "Could be either of them." I shrug, not bothered by any of it. "Hopefully not that little **** kicker there." I point to the small boat that could only house two people, as there were only two seats, but hell, if it was? We weren't making it very far before we had to find dry land and a hotel. I look away from the rows of boats as I spin around slowly, looking for the signs of others to join our fishing trip. Because, let's face it. We're not going anywhere near Tahiti on any of these boats.
