Like most criminals, Noah Levesque chose his career as an escape from the harsh reality of a low-income childhood. His father left while his mother was still pregnant with him and the single woman proved to be unable to rise to the occasion of raising him, falling instead to drugs and a life homeless on the streets. It was his uncle, Bishop Levesque, who raised the child in her stead. Bishop was a low-ranking bodyman of a distant, low-ranking den in a tiny, secluded province only loosely connected to the larger Canadian mafia when Noah was birthed. As is often the case with children of the mafia, Noah was homeschooled by his uncle. His time was split between standard academic material and a rather seedier variety of upbringing. It was Bishop who taught Noah how to use a gun and it was Bishop who was there when Noah first shot a man.
Likewise, it was Bishop, ever the proud and supportive uncle-slash-father-figure, who stood by Noah's side when, in his early 20s, he bought his first business for himself, using the funds he had saved since his early teens through various odd jobs. A chain restaurant used to funnel money for their bosses, as well as a front for the packaging and shipping of illegal goods, Noah's success was almost immediate. Over the next few years, he acquired more properties - laundromats, abandoned factories, and eventually small casinos attached to gas stations off the highway. Like a series of dominos falling, each acquisition moved him to the next in his unending thirst for more. Even now he rarely seems satisfied in matters of business, continuously demanding perfection from himself.
Curiously though, this ambition did not seem born of simple greed or thirst for power. With every success, Noah ensured he gave back just as much to the communities he entered. If he made $100,000 in a venture, then he would spend $25,000 to renovate or construct affordable housing that he rarely profited from (as a landlord, Noah has been known to be extremely lenient with his tenants in regards to rent; there are often months his properties come back in the red). His primary focus over the years seemed to be in addressing homelessness, poverty, and varying social justice issues. Just last month, an anonymous donor sent a sizeable check to the Minnesota Freedom Fund.
Over the years, Noah has also birthed and adopted several children, who are raised with the help of his wife, Clio - despite her not being their biological mother. Though few who meet the man or his family can tell the difference between those who are his biologically and those who are not. Instead, they are referred to collectively as "Noah's kids." An assorted, chaotic menagerie of personalities, each new addition to the family has melded in as easily as the rest. In no particular order, they are...
