Valerian held out his hands in almost a shrug about staying a few more hours. The 'apparition' might be gone. At least, it looked that way. But that didn't mean that they were alone. Valerian usually would let himself be at ease, if he were around a group of humans. But this person was just another random individual. Here because he had nowhere else to go. Sometimes, those types could go to extremes. But worse was that if there was something out there they couldn't touch, maybe there were others out here. Whether or not they were after that creature, or with it, they might be dangerous.

The three quickly came up and Valerian held tightly to the weapon ready to raise it the moment he saw any of them having a gun out. However they didn't yet. Instead just shining a flashlight at them, Valerian blinked in the light holding up one hand and peering through his fingers scowling at them. Chives was the first to speak, fairly cheerfully. Or at least, apparently so.

Paladins, they were an interesting bunch. And a bunch that Valerian could appreciate the existence of. That took care of those pesky vampires when nobody else would.

The bearded one finally spoke, his words came as if his throat were cracked, occasional pauses that interrupted a word but were so short someone might not realize until after he had already moved onto the next one, "Have you heard of a vampire calling himself Victor Crane. He's quite pale, around his height." he said gesturing to one of the ones beside him, "Black hair. His fangs seem to never retract. We need him. If you have any information about it, it'd be best for you to tell us.

His eyes were sharp and he seemed to be looking occasionally at their hands and pockets.

Valerian glanced at Chives, then smiled at the three of them, taking a more relaxed stance. "No one like that to my memory. Though we did see a...shadowy figure outside."

"Victor Crane….Victor Crane…." Chives tapped his finger on his chin then took a large gulp of his soda. He moved the acidic liquid around in his mouth before swallowing it. Their dilated eyes were on him. Coming from his gut, up his esophagus and out into the air, was a burp. The Paladins squinted at his belch and looked at him with slight disgust, to the same degree they looked at vampires. Lack of manners was the next thing they’ll purge the world of. "Nope. the name doesn't ring a bell." Chives wiped his mouth. His purple grin was in full view in the light.

The three men sighed. Lost him again. It had been a week since their manhunt for Victor started. Lead after lead only led them to dead ends, and when they were close to catching him, he’d slip out of their hands. The spotlight was moved to Valerian, with him claiming he saw a shadowy figure.

“Oh yea! We did.”Chives jumped up from the desk and hurried over to the broken window. Chives pointed across the street to the place where the figure once stood. “It was right there! It was a bit see through. Shaped just like a human. Stood motionless in that spot before it went, POOF! And it was gone.” The Bearded Paladin gazed at the area briefly then turned to his companions. He exchanged nods with the two of them then he travelled back to the center of the room.

“Crane has been quite elusive. Always moving. Always out of our reach. We’ve been following him for some time. He's responsible for a series of murders around here. His victims were drained of all their blood and…..disemboweled.” The Paladin clenched his fists and scowled. That was the most emotion he displayed all day. It seemed like the only thing paladins could express was anger. Anger with an apathetic facade plastered over it. "Just as depraved as the rest of the leeches."

The two paladins by his side headed for the door. He titled his body slightly in the direction of the door while still looking at the two men. "The shadowy figure you described sounds like a wraith. Might be Crane's. That would explain how he's avoiding us. He may be using it to keep an eye out." The bearded Paladin joined his companions at the door, looking back once more at them. "I'd recommend you keep an eye out for him. Be wary of your surroundings. And if you do manage to find him…" He inspected Valerian's weapons. "Dispatch of him." The Paladins exited through the the room. The thump of their feet trailed down the stairs until they were gone.

Chives stared wide eyed at Valerian. He puffed and mustered out a few gasps. "Disemboweled!?"

Valerian glanced at Chives as he answered in turn. Also saying he hadn't heard the name. He was plenty willing to repeat that they saw the strange...thing outside. Yes, problematic. If this was a vampire then what were they up to, how were they going to keep avoiding the paladins? Surely sooner or later they'd get caught right?

The Jorogomo cocked his head and narrowed his eyes as he heard them explaining that he'd managed to evade them so far and what would happen to his victims. It wasn't the most brutal thing Valerian had heard, but it was being done to humans, and that was an issue. Another one mentioned what they saw probably being a wraith, and that they should be careful. A look at Valerians armaments and then a word of elimination for the vampire. Valerian nodded his head at them, though didn't confirm it for certain. However, it was his intention to do so, if he ever got the chance.

He chuckled a little at Chives response to the situation, "You seem surprised about that?" he commenting with almost a sympathetic appearance, loosening his grip on his weapon and glancing out the window just to see if he could spot anything out of the ordinary again, "If we do see it though, I plan to get rid of it. These things are a plague to Harper Rock. Smart as humans, with the desires of a revenant, and the power to back it all up."

He patted the weapon, "I'm no paladin myself, but when I can, I take care of a few undead here or there. Not often vampires mind you, those things are dangerous. But most of the others are all good targets."
