vainshing tiles [ongoing issues]

Half the tiles in the 8th dimension Mall and in Alex's shop are just blank... and
since all the tiles have been uploaded to site (they have, right?) this shouldn't be happening?

Could someone else confirm its not just me with unloaded tiles by hopping in the shop at 8,8 in the 8D Mall (19,26 world) please? <3

Yes, they're blackened. Was just popping on to ask you about it. Looks to be mainly the ones with portal animation...

what happened was the offsite location of the tiles was down for a while.




I thought that this site was supposed to be 'grabbing' or copying images now? To prevent loss of avatars, banners, and the decorated player owned buildings/areas (like the cemetery) again? Did I dream that update? O.o

Subject: STICKY: Small Updates and Tweaks

If you've used photobucket images, you might have noticed they were broken. Until now. We've changed all photobucket URLs so that the thumbnails are used, which has fixed most of the broken images in the game.

There are a few URLs which were abnormal, so those might still be broken. Please PM me if you have broken images in your housing.

There's a chance that this might only work for a while. If so, we'll run a script which will download the photobucket images and host them on our server.

David would have to answer that one. I know the site can store avatars and that it does store the icons. I'm not sure if it stores every individual square. I recall that David ran a script to fix the ugly photoshop tile issue we had a year + ago, but I'm not 100% sure if we ended up hosting everything (though I'm fairly sure we aren't yet).

And some places with the Photobucket watermarks now also have distorted images, is there anything that can be done from our end to correct that? I figured just asking here rather than starting a separate thread for the issue would be most expeditious.

I didn't end up running a script to store the images, because it seemed to all be going okay and I had other priorities as far as Path updates and fixes went.

It's something I should make happen, but it's quite a lot of work when we've got limited amounts of hours to work with each month. I would suggest backing up all images you're using on Path, so you can change image host if there's a problem. I'll try to make something happen ASAP.

I can confirm across my characters most of my properties have various blackouts, ugly squares due to the various hosts deciding they no longer want to host for free, are out of commission or whatever. All of which I understand. Nothing is free. Neither is David’s time or those who created the images. Those who were kind enough to save years old projects created on backup files, thank you. If I created one for someone out there who now is in the dark let me know and I will fire up my computer that has been sleeping from lack of use the last two years. If I can get it to you I will try. What places host for free still? Please let us know here. Thank you!

Imgur is one that is still free, for now.

ImageShack is another one. <-- This has unfortunately become a pay to use thing also. =(

I used imgur for most and they are disappearing. Any idea on the length of time they host the image for free before purging?
