It was always a pity when her nail varnish chipped, or when that perfect veneer of colour was scratched, dented, or smeared. And it was always a hundred times worse when it was the high-gloss St James gel effect red from Nails inc because it made it look like her fingers were bleeding. It wouldn’t do to be perfectly pristine everywhere else – for her teeth to be whiter than the moon, for her make-up so perfect that drag queens everywhere would faint at the sight of her, and for her hair to look so damn fabulous that it was like she’d sewn a collection of wigs together – all for her to look like she had a bad case of nail biting nervousness!

Was it a Millennial thing? Was it vanity? Or was it simply the last straw to break the camel’s back? In Arden’s case, it could very well have been a combination of the three, which in its own way justified the bottle blonde’s decision to stomp her platform boots and shriek. The sound was terrifying and it came out of the alleyway beside Wickbridge too, giving passers by the impression that some sicko had crossed a cat with a zombie and then set the whole thing on fire.

“Oh for the love of all that is holy!” she screeched in her naturally husky tone of voice. “Not again. Just not again! This is ridiculous.”

Arden’s sculpted brow twitched at the sight before her. The paint of her left index finger had completely smeared over the skin and each nail on that hand had been dented irreparably. Equally, the red coating on the thumb and fingers of her right hand was also completely transplanted, making it look like she’d just performed the hideous ritual of Kali Ma on the heart of some unsuspecting fool who’d wandered into her temple of doom. But in the end, it was her own fault for rushing out of the dive she was living in without letting her nails fully dry. There was also nothing she could really do about it unless she wanted to traipse back to that crap hole or find a 24/7 nail technician. Sometimes, being a Vampire was more trouble than it was worth.

The Shadow tucked her nails into her denim jacket and decided to carry on with her night – whatever that meant. She rarely allowed herself a night off work and with the way things were in this apocalyptic land, there was more than enough work to go around. It was pretty amazing how the baser impulses of a man, if encouraged appropriately, could make him forget anything and Arden – she brought with her a healthy dose of amnesia for anyone willing to pay.

It would have been easier to go back to work rather than decide what she could do with the few remaining hours of the night. It was already closing in on 3am and with the Canadian weather being what it was, no good soul was out walking the streets with her. The only people who remained were the dark, dumb, and dangerous and the bottle blonde wanted nothing to do with their type. She wanted a fresh perspective and as she idly passed under the shadow of an office building, a glance up to the rooftop garden gave her just what she was looking for. The only obstacle now was finding a way to break in without being caught…

Rebecca kept walking as she contemplated something, a thrall...that sure was a unique experience, after all, it was...a real person. It's just they they'd obey absolutely anything she told them to. It felt so odd, so...wrong. But what was she supposed to do about it. The first time it happened she knew it would go away after awhile, but then there was another vampire who gave her blood and she realized the same connection to the same individual was for certain there. Well, there wasn't much she could do about it. What's done was done.

Her eyes drifted ahead as she noticed someone in the distance, she tapped the spear on the ground in thought. She had the tip of it covered with a leather and wood end, making it appear more like a walking stick then a spear. But making it easy enough to transform. And her gun, well that was hidden inside her coat. She had to figure out how to orginize it so she could get it out easily enough but eventually she managed to get it on her back so she could pull down and have it out. Rebecca wasn't a violent person by nature, but boy was she good at it for as new to it as she was. Course, she knew that was almost entirely because of her abilities. But that just meant the abilities weren't natural to her, and given where she lived, natural was not the biggest factor around here.

Suddenly she felt a strong urge to test out her powers, she stepped aside casually so that she was mostly behind a building and could watch from a distance. She studied the woman, she...could tell what she could do almost. Like a feeling of how strong she was, stronger then herself Rebecca noticed. That was kind of important. She'd keep that in mind. Alright, but what about memories? She could do that too, at least for now. She narrowed his eyes to focus, man...this one really had a lot of people trying to steal from them. But, that was...really uninformative actually. This ability didn't seem to give her as much as she wanted right now, maybe she just didn't know how to use it. Was it really just gonna tell her that this person had people try and steal from them a lot? That was, vaguely disappointing actually.

Still, now was the time to watch. Maybe she could test out another ability soon. She leapt and grabbed onto the buildings fire escape pulling herself up as quietly...as she could, and climbing up relatively quickly. She could have leapt all the way up she realized, man that was a fun one to use, but that also might have been a bit more noisy just cause of how fast it would have happened. And if she missed that'd really screw things up. She quietly crawled over and watched, it had to be sunrise in awhile, so she knew she probably shouldn't stay out to long. She really only roamed around at night because it was a good way to run into zombies and feral vampires or some other kind of public nuisance she could take care of to get some money for.
