A life worth living

Post by Crawley (DELETED 11638) »

Rebecca ran a hand across the rail as she stepped down, breathing in and out and appreciating life for what it was. It had been a little while now since she'd become a blood thief, but she'd never get over the strength, the freedom, the bliss it had given her. The doctors told her they couldn't figure it out, basically, she was destined to rot. Ironic, in a world like this, that where the dead walk, she was going to deteriorate while she was still alive. At first they tried to say it was some kind of rash, but as things got worse, as she found pieces of her starting to just...decompose, and they couldn't fix it, she knew a new route was needed.

It had already been a while since she'd learned about the supernatural that was going on. Wasn't even really much of a secret anymore. And she knew there were only a few routes to take, she'd heard of a few things. Vampires of course made her concerned, she didn't really want to be undead, especially considering there were people hunting them. Paladins, well, it seemed almost more like a permanent job and it only may or may not heal her. Sorcerers were...a bit too much, she never really learned anything about them or what they could do. One day she hoped to, but they were so much more difficult to find. Blood thieves on the other hand, they weren't so difficult. They were about as easy to find as a slot machine. And with them, came healing.

It was no easy route. It was rather difficult, and time consuming and...morally questionable she admitted. But it was the route she felt best would bring her success. And, eventually, it had. She was free. But, at the same time, she had grown to enjoy the taste of vampire blood. It wasn't that anytime she saw one or thought of it she wanted to drink, but, there was just something about it that began to nag at her sometimes.

But, it wasn't too bad, there were those she could get too, those she didn't have too feel so bad about feeding off of. So what was the harm? Besides, if it kept her like this, powerful, healthy, free, it was worth the effort.
