A New Home [Open]

Post by Niraneye Silinthar (DELETED 11508) »

Niraneye Silinthar sighs quietly as she slipped her journal into her shirt from the top, looking around. She had checked out the area on Google Maps but she wasn't exactly willing to trust it fully. The woman stood at 5'-9" tall, tan skin being accented by soft, straight brown hair that went all the way down to her back, and sea blue eyes staring out from under the hood. As of the moment, she was wearing a size-too-small black shirt, a slightly saggy hoodie, jeans and a pair of combat boots.

Fumbling around in her hoodie pocket, Niraneye pulls out a map of Harper Rock, grumbling quietly to herself as she did, making sure to keep an eye on the surrounding crowd as best she could so she didn't bump into anyone. "Let's see...hotels, hotels..." She mutters, ignoring a crowd forming in front of a business place. Idiots.

'Maybe I should have gotten a tour guide or something for being here...Dad said that this map should still be good if I had ever decided to come here.' Niraneye thinks, eyes narrowing as she did her best to navigate the streets using the map and what signs she could see.

(Hiya all! This is my first roleplay on this site and I hope I did well enough in my second post of the day. Until I get most of my Skills I won't be taking on a Sire, though I love to be a Vampire. Anyways, hope I can meet some pretty nice people!)

”You need to face the facts, my love. You are getting old and slow.”

A loud yowl echoed from the pet carrier in reply. Zodiac paused in her walking and leaned against a lightpost on the corner. She lifted the carrier to peer inside at the massive black cat within. One paw was wrapped in bandages to keep the stitches from being worked at.

”I know, I know. You are still the best, but I warned you to stop teasing Theo-whatsits new Mooncalves. Did you listen? Oh noooo!”

Ginny just glared through the bars and let out another sound of total anger. Truth be told, Zodiac was probably more upset by the event than the cat was. She had enjoyed the company of her familiar for close to 11 years now. Four of them while the girl was still human. An injury was rare for the animal to come home with, but this latest event made the gypsy girl think. She was vampire, and if careful could go on far beyond a normal person’s lifetime.

The cat, however, was not. Suddenly she was feeling overprotective for her best friend. Today it was a deep scratch from a claw. Tomorrow?

”I know, it hurts. Poor dear.” She started walking again. She was heading home after taking the cat to the vet. Normally Zo herself would have stitched up the damage, but why waste a chance to get a full work up on how she was doing-especially when the cat was in no shape to put up it’s usual resistance to such things as doctors. ”Let’s get you back to the shop and you can have some of these pain killers they prescribed for you.”

As she walked, her eyes moved about taking in the others who walked the streets. A survival skill she had learned long ago. Nobody was ever what they appeared to be– especially here. As she glanced about, one caught her eye. The face caught between watching where they were going and studying what might be a map or instructions. The girl’s aura read human but there was something else mixed in. Her lip curled slightly. She could not be sure, but it wasn’t the best vibe in the world as the gypsy saw things. Another noob on the streets. Possibly without a clue of what kind of dangers walked here as well. If only Zo could speak like others do. She might be able to offer some help, but another rule of survival she had for herself was not to talk humans telepathically. She might as well wear a big sign with bold red letters.
VAMPIRE HERE!

Hopefully the girl would be okay. Her path was taking her directly at the girl. Rather than cross the street suddenly to avoid the vibe, she kept going. A bright smile and a finger wave she gave as she got into range of the wanderer.

Hiya! I'm on mobile right now, so if my answer seems just a tad short I'm sorry! Hopefully I'll get access to a computer soon.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Niraneye barely glanced up when she saw the strange woman talking to her pet, though she did slow a bit in order to wave back to her. When she got close enough, Niraneye decided to ask where the hell she was. Politely of course

"Hey there! Do you know which area I'm in? Not the best at map reading...or locations in general honestly." Niraneye asks, smiling slightly apologetically. "Name's Niraneye by the way." Niraneye adds this possibly as an afterthought to what she said before, though she didn't seem to notice.

I took the liberty to pick an area of the city for this

She blinked as the girl spoke up. Usually that didn’t happen nowdays. Too many were self absorbed in these times to show much courtesy. Let alone answer back.

Zodiac paused and set the carrier down and smiled at the girl. Placing her hands together, she inclined her head, then pointed to a button she wore near her left breast.

IF YOU CAN SIGN
WE CAN TALK.

And in smaller print it made reference to ASL (American sign language) She went through the typical show. Gesturing at her ears and giving a double thumbs up, then pointing to her mouth and shaking her head. She pulled a notepad from her skirt pocket and began to print.

Greetings and blessings of the night to you, Niraneye . I am Zodiac.

A flick of her wrist made one of her business cards appear. It was the basic one. Announcing herself as a fortune teller and where her shops could be found. She offered it to the girl and continued to write.

What area are you in? This is the Wickbridge area of town.

Zodiac then peered over the edge of the paper and placed the tip of her pen on the spot, then began writing again.

Is there a place you are looking for specifically? Or trying to meet someone for some reason? I can at least help point you in the right direction.

Now that she was standing with the girl, the odd vibe grew stronger. Yes, something about this one disturbed her a bit but there was no sense in being rude or hostile till she was sure. Besides, the girl had done nothing to merit any reactions like that. Ginny let loose a low rarwing sound, but was that a warning or a statement of ‘I am in pain’?

Niraneye smiles at Zodiac's kindness, even as she took the business card. "Well...right now I'm looking for a hotel...or someplace to stay after I can start earning money. My dad was a businessman but...never really could follow in his footsteps. Too confusing for me." Niraneye seemed a bit embarrassed when she said that.

"Also...do you know where I am on the map? I think my dad gave me an unfinished map when I mentioned wanting to move here." As she spoke, Niraneye turns the map enough for Zodiac to see it. Zodiac, having been here for longer than Niraneye, could see the map wasn't unfinished. It was, however, several years old.

Niraneye felt just a little nervous at the moment but she did ber best not to let it show. Zodiac seemed nice after all, and you couldn't make friends if you didn't talk with strangers. Her dad might've been way too weird but at least he knew what he was talking about most times.

A story she had heard in various ways multiple times since she had been trapped here. Everyone was following somebody somewhere and the trail led them to very odd spots. She took another closer look at the made map. Out dated was putting it politely.

“Okay, first things first,” she wrote and made a gesture for the girl to wait where she was standing. Zodiac stepped into a news stand, and returned a few seconds later with a city guide/map. She then encouraged the girl to follow her. Within a block an open air cafe was still doing business despite the chill in the evening air. She took a seat and urged to sit down with her.

When the wait staff arrived, Zo had notes ready for both them and Niraneye.

“Nothing for me but I imagine this girl may be thirsty or hungry.” That note went to the waiter, while the second told Niraneye “The coffee and food does not suck here. My treat if you want something.”

She then unfolded the map and laid it out on the table. Zodiac compared the two and put a small check mark on both to show where they were now. She then began to mark a few points on the newer map, then wrote again.

“Should be simple enough. ‘H’ is for hotels and ‘F’ is for food stops worth your cash. You mentioned finding employment, hence the ‘C’s. Cyber cafes. You can log on there and check listings for jobs. ‘T’ is transit stations. Make the trains your friend. Helps one get back and forth in the town with ease.”

Zodiac leaned back in her chair and lifted the carrier to sit it in the empty chair next to her. Peering in at the upset feline inside.

”Are you angry because you’re in pain or because the thing actually tagged you?” her mind speak touched the cat’s thoughts only, while aloud a soft clicking noise escaped her lips as if in sympathy for the animal.

Niraneye sits down at the cafe, smiling gently as she did. She watched patiently as Zodiac wrote, examining the map as best she could before frowning and huffing gently. "So my dad had an outdated map...mkay. Lovely." She mutters, before looking to the menu and, after a moment of thought, ordered a black coffee.

"So...cyber cafes, transits, hotels and food places..." Niraneye says, frowning lightly after a moment. "This place actually seems nice so far...except for the random crowds...don't know why Dad hadn't wanted me to come."

Reaching up to brush a strand of hair behind her ear, she studies the new map somewhat intently, before smiling to Zodiac. "Thank you for your help by the way...I might've been stuck wandering around for hours if I hadn't met you."

‘I would not be hard on your father about the map he gave you. There is always something changing about this town. For the last couple of years it was in a growth cycle.’

She wrote and passed the note as she relaxed. Listening and observing was always the best way she found to try and learn about another. When Niraneye questioned why had her father not wanted her to come to the Rock, a secret smile crossed her lips. How does one explain the potential dangers without saying what they are? She could see that conversation going south easily. Vampires? No way! And then run head on to prove they don’t exist and end up becoming a snack for one in the process.

When Niraneye thanked her for her kindness, Zodiac smiled and inclined her head. As the waiter brought the girl her coffee, she began to write again.

‘Wandering around this place has its pros and cons. Quick bit of advice. No one or nothing is ever as it appears to be in this town. Never assume. I was happy to help. ’

She pulled her wallet from her purse and paid for the coffee along with a tip, then continued writing.

‘I hope you find what it is you are looking for here. If I can be of help in the future, my number is on the card I gave you. Of course, I cannot ’talk’ on the phone, but I can text like there is no tomorrow.’

"Right now I'm just curious about my Dad's home town. He might be a bit superstitious but he's still Dad." Niraneye says with a quiet laugh, an open smile on her face. When Niraneye read Zodiac's warning, though, her face turned slightly surprised before she chuckles. "My dad said the same thing back home." She says, before taking a sip of her coffee.

Niraneye knew she was different from most people. One's canines did not become fangs when they defended themselves in the rather unique manner of drinking them dry quite literally after all. But Vampires were nothing more than myths and legends, no matter what her Dad said...right?

"Anyways...I'll be glad to ask if I have any questions I'll text. Though if I need to call anyone just to listen I may call." Niraneye says, a playful grin on her face. "I'll work on finding myself a job soon. For now I'll probably see what I can do about poking around nearby hotels." She says, happily, while also making a mental note to find out what areas she could rob for a bit of extra cash.

She saw the twitch of the eye, the sudden change of the face before the girl composed herself and made reference to her father. Superstitious or did he know more than most who dwelled outside of Harper Rock? It made Zodiac curious about who her father actually was and how much he did know about things here. Not that it mattered much, but only in recent times had the cat escaped the bag on the subject of vampires and such. Judging by the details of the homemade map Niraneye carried, it had been a few years past. It would suggest someone put the dots together long before now.

She would have liked to speak to this man, but again it made no difference now. Sooner or later in her travels Niraneye would discover the truth about this place, but not from her. She returned the smile.

‘Of course you can call. I can always text back an answer if needed. I don’t mind listening. It’s actually what I do for a living.’

Ginny yowled loudly. Showing her total indignation at being shut up in a travel carrier.

‘Don’t mind her. She got in a fight with…’

The pen paused for a second before the words began to flow once more. ‘…something much bigger than she is and came out on the short end, for once. I need to get her home and try to make her comfortable. That is Miss Ginny-my best friend and familiar. Forgive her. She’s not very social right now but neither would I be if something tried to cut my arm in half. The poor baby.’
