People's Preference (November) - PVP Update
Next month's People's Preference update will be for a single PVP (player VS player) related update. This could be new content, new systems, updates to existing systems, or something to make people's lives easier. You suggest, you vote, we go with the people's choice!
Here's how it works:
- Post here suggesting an addition to the game, or link to an existing suggestion on the suggestions board. One idea per person, please.
- Make sure to only suggest additions to the game, rather than changes. We'll deal with gameplay change updates when we can, but this system is for new additions or content to the game itself, not for changes to the existing systems.
- Try to pick something that's not too big. We'll only really be selecting small-medium sized updates and content additions. For example, enchanting or mastery powers are massive updates which take multiple months to complete, whereas new NPCs or new hacking gameplay options are smaller updates, and we're able to roll those out fairly quickly.
- After several days (sometimes longer if we don't get many suggestions) I'll go through the list and hand pick 8 of the most do-able and exciting. I'll usually also pick suggestions from players that are most interested in that month's update category (for example, PVP suggestions from PVPers are more likely to make it into the final poll). Those 8 will be placed into a poll, and you can get voting!
- The top voted idea by the end of the month will be selected and implemented very soon after (hopefully within a week!). Note that if the winning vote is for an idea that is marked as "v. small" then the update is considered extremely minor, and in which case I'll also implement the idea with the second highest votes (and perhaps also the third highest, if the second highest is a very small update too).
We hope this gives people a greater sense of community interaction with the developers, and that you'll have at least one update to look forward to every month.

Re: People's Preference (November) - PVP Update
I'd like to suggest a change to an existing system - The Gauntlet.
Currently, the Gauntlet uses the AI system to determine the winner of the battle.
My suggestion is that it is changed to skirmish to allow for live fighting.
I see it working as having to invite the other party, who has to be in the Gauntlet, to the battle. Parameters could be set to end the fight once someone reaches a certain blood level or number of wounds.
As with the current system, no participant would be sent to the hospital, shadow realm, or crippled. Whether or not the wounds would stick (unlike the current system) could potentially be one of the parameters.
I also see the system, if successful for 1 on 1 battles, being expanded to allow for teams.
I think this kind of change would be good for holding tournaments or fight night events.

The Return of Crow … Seeing the havoc the fall of secrecy has caused Crow returns to restore order and reign in some of the lawlessness of Harper Rock Vampires . Bounty list reinstated and Factions given a bonus in stats for each offender they Realm for the month.

Re: People's Preference (November) - PVP Update
So I'm pretty sure this wouldn't be small to medium update, but -
I think it would be interesting to have a "Capture the Flag" type territory/team raid type deal. The Labyrinth and Chapter 7 actually inspired the idea.
Every month, one specific building has a raid where teams have to form and need to reach to maybe floor 10? 15? so that it's not challenging but it encourages more teams to form, collect keys one per person by hacking, thievery (stealing in mini games or even out of pockets by a chance), crippling another player character who has the key needed, etc. When the month is up (maybe on the 2nd so people can get payouts?), some force throws everyone out, the territory/building resets and it starts all over again - you also can't have it two months in a row, so that there's a revolving deal to it.
If you PVP your way up, you get a higher bonus, and so on.

Re: People's Preference (November) - PVP Update
Any other suggestions for the poll?
As for the suggestions so far:
I think that would work out quite well, encourage teamwork, encourage PVP, and reintroducing NPCs to the territory system would be a welcome update. So I'd probably pitch it on the poll like that, if it's okay with you? However, this would indeed be a big update, so it would take a while longer, and might take up the next PVP update month too.
As for the suggestions so far:
As stated on the first post, this system isn't for changes to existing system, but additions. However, there's no reason why we couldn't add this as an addition to the gauntlet, rather than changing it entirely.I'd like to suggest a change to an existing system - The Gauntlet.
That's partly a story update. However, bringing back a bounty list in some form is absolutely something we can vote on. Just know that it would be different to before in many ways. I'll outline the possible updates for a new bounty system for the poll, when I put up the poll itself. The Return of Crow … Seeing the havoc the fall of secrecy has caused Crow returns to restore order and reign in some of the lawlessness of Harper Rock Vampires . Bounty list reinstated and Factions given a bonus in stats for each offender they Realm for the month.
I think this could work with some tweaking, so I'd put it to the poll in this way: NPCs are returned to the territorial battle system, but when their territories are attacked it would work like what you've described. Everyone would have a time limit to get to the top and kill the boss, and the team who does so takes the territory. In defense against NPC factions it would work like this: an NPC stronghold appears in a random territory (shown on the territory page), and the defending team has to perform the raid within the time limit in order to defend against the attack.I think it would be interesting to have a "Capture the Flag" type territory/team raid type deal. Whoops. Sorry, I misread but I like the idea of making it an addition to the existing system.

I'm not so sure this applies to pvp but i am sure it could and would affect it in some ways but i would love to see it possible for bound partners to teleport to each other wherever they are and this could even possibly extend to childer teleporting to their sire as well, maybe?
Some people will never like us...

I really like that idea and if it doesn't fit for this update I bet it could for a future one. In example; That would make a really epic relic or enchanted item, imo.
eta a suggestion (that I know everyone will hate but... lol)
Make mind block count as an attack. <3

Yeah, I don't think Sher's one would fit PVP; probably the grid update instead.Alexandrea wrote:Velveteen wrote:I'm not so sure this applies to pvp but i am sure it could and would affect it in some ways but i would love to see it possible for bound partners to teleport to each other wherever they are and this could even possibly extend to childer teleporting to their sire as well, maybe?

Mind block changes would be a change, rather than an update, sorry.
