Re: Ghostly Discovery [MM]
It had started out as a normal night for Nerissa. Get some blood, steal some stuff, and explore Harper Rock. The last one was what she was doing when she noticed a stream of smoke rising from the trees. A flash of yellow caught her eye and she noticed Rachel float towards the smoke, beckoning Nerissa to follow. Nerissa rolled her eyes but said nothing as she dashed after the ghost and towards the smoke.
After running through the trees on the edges of town, Nerissa ended up in front of a dark cavern, and the burning remains of some sort of camp. Blackened tent poles stuck out of the ground as the melted remains of the camvas soldered and smoked. Some underbrush was burning in various places, but it didn't seem to be in danger of spreading thanks to the large amount of rain they had lately. Which was good, because Nerissa was more interested in the sounds coming from the cave.
Perhaps the people from the campsite ran for the cave? As Nerissa got closer the overwhelming smell of blood hit her, and she was grateful she had already eaten. It would seem that whoever was camping there had met an untimely end in the cave. She was about to step towards the cave when a noise came from behind her. She spun around and looked at the trees for the source, calling out "who's there?"

Re: Ghostly Discovery [MM]
This city was a hellhole, and now Ladislaus could not leave.
He’d come with a plan, heart full of hatred – young and naïve, perhaps. Perhaps he could have listened to his cousin, could have heard his cousin’s story, but that would have been too reasonable and not at all in line with Lad’s hasty self-righteousness. What he hadn’t banked on, however, was that his cousin would be a vampire, and that his lady-love would have the power to hold another person’s willpower captive.
Ladislaus couldn’t kill his cousin, like he’d wanted to.
Ladislaus couldn’t leave this city, with his tail between his legs, a failure.
And so he stayed, and he did as he was told; not a slave so much as a lackey, with a certain amount of freedom – which he took hold of, now, headed somewhere but nowhere in particular. There was smoke coming from just outside the city, and Ladislaus followed it. He made no attempt to hide his approach; clearly there was someone else who wasn’t expecting him, a voice calling out, asking who he was.
”Just me,” he said, as if the two were familiar. The acrid stench of burning plastic clung to the air. ”I think you’re supposed to burn wood, not plastic…” he said with a smartass smile.

Re: Ghostly Discovery [MM]
Half-constructed and entirely too rustic for her taste, the western wing of Bjørn’s unfinished home was beginning to smell rancid. The windows were screwed shut, keeping any breeze from lightening the atmosphere as her employer remained perched over the makeshift ritual table. An attempt to crack one open had been met with a tongue lashing, for they kept things out as well as things in. The creature Bjørn had sealed in a ring of oil was vocal about its displeasure, but the vampire seemed far too determined to let it deter him.
Much like an unattended Sims, Robbie found herself meandering away from the scene to fulfil her needs. Fresh air was first on her list, and as she made for the door was careful to sidestep the traps he’d left scattered about. After the last accident, he’d promised to be more careful about their placement, but in the absence of changed behaviour the thrall found herself benefitting from newfound attentiveness.
Apple in hand, Robbie walked the perimeter without haste. Upon reaching the donkey’s enclosure, she cast a glance towards the dense foliage beyond the property’s edge. A dangerous mix of curiosity and boredom lured her closer, the smell of fire making her brow furrow. It wasn’t unusual for the city’s surrounds to become campgrounds during the summer, but the air carried a smell unlike anything she’d associated with camping.
Appetite lost, the human tossed the apple at Donkey, and made for the disturbance.
Her wrist hovered above her nose when she broke into the clearing, spotting a trail of small fires.
Against the rain-saturated soil, they stood no chance of growing.
That was a relief.
“Is anyone hurt?” she called out, getting closer and noticing two silhouettes.
There’d be no reception out here to call an ambulance.

Re: Ghostly Discovery [MM]
Despite spending most of her time exploring the city, Nerissa only knew a couple people in all of Harper Rock, and that didn't include the man that stepped forward. "I didn't start the fire, smartass," she said scowling.
Another voice called out that she also didn't recognize, and she looked around one more time. The fire had done a good job of clearing almost everything, and as far as she could tell there weren't any bodies around. Judging from the smell of the cave, Nerissa figured there weren't any survivors there either. "I think it's too late for an ambulance," she called out to the newcomer. Her eyes darted between the two of them warily. "So either you're the culprit of this, or a bystander. Mind telling me which one?" Unbidden, her shadow moved to in front of her defensively, ready for any sort of attack that could come her way.
A flash of yellow caught her eye again and she saw Rachel float near the cave entrance nervously. Nothing seemed to scare the ghost until now, which made Nerissa more curious about what could possibly be inside.

Re: Ghostly Discovery [MM]
Ladi was just your normal, run-of-the-mill human.
He couldn’t sense the undead. He couldn’t tell there were ghosts nearby, nor pick out a vampire unless he was really paying attention to the clues. He had no baby teeth, nor any tattoos. There wasn’t magic itching in his fingertips. Honestly, he ought to be more careful about the situations he got himself in. But life would be boring if he weren’t a little reckless every now and again. He shoved his hands into his pockets.
”To me it looks like someone started a fire too close to their camping gear,” he said, surveying the scene. ”They are probably out skinny dipping or something. Or…” he noted the cave behind the girl, ”…they went in there,” he stated what was probably the obvious. His fingers closed around the mobile phone in his pocket; he had battery, and a powerful enough torch.
”Anyone up for an adventure?” he asked, glancing between the two women even as he approached the mouth of the cave, pulled out his phone and turned on the torch. A sweep of light lit up the area immediately inside and revealed nothing. Yet.
