[a] Raid - False Alarm Glitching

Post by Bjorn »

I've tested this multiple times in this raid and it has been suggested that it is indeed a bug.

I use a knock out bomb within reach of an electronic lock.
I use the false alarm.
I then come upon another guard (under various circumstances) and use another knock out bomb.
The next electronic alarm is within four steps, but on my second step I get kicked.
Discovered (1), Knockout bomb (2), Move one square (3), Move another square (kicked).

I tend to be very conservative with my counting, but this is consistently the case.
Knock out bomb, one step, two step = kicked.

This has happened four times now, in a row.
It's exasperating, because I'm renewing energy using karma.

Is this a bug, or do false alarms work differently within raids?
If so, how?

There is nothing to suggest the later on the wiki:
The use of a false alarm is generally key to these - though winning one without a false alarm isn't unheard of - it is increasingly difficult. The key is to find the floor keycard in the floor, then make it to the door that goes up to the next floor. If you encounter a guard or set off a lock, you then have ten moves to either:

Make it to the door up with the keycard
Make it to an electronic lock and send the false alarm signal
The false alarm then stops your move counter - but be aware that if you get caught again, it starts back up again, so be sure to count your moves in between false alarms!
wiki
And, if it is a bug, could I get my karma / energy refills back, please?

false alarms do not work any different in a raid, unless it's been recently changed and I don't think it has. It seems like the timer is off, which if I'm not mistaken has happened before. I can't recall the circumstances but I'll do a search just in case there's an old report hanging around somewhere.

I'll mark this a b, and try replicating the issue tomorrow unless the guys get to it and get it fixed first. *fingers crossed* In the meantime, try logging out and shutting down for awhile then go back in for another try, perhaps? It can't hurt to try and give it a kick in the butt.

I can't recreate it on F2, and got through F3 scot free. But it happens on F4 and F5. That's why I wonder whether it is a bug, or if, as you move up in complication, it lessens the effectiveness of the false alarm. Again, this is never a problem in normal B&E, and it seems to only be triggered on the upper floors. I've tried to screen-capture it but QuickTime is not being helpful for longer capture videos.

So, I definitely think the timing is off. I'm getting anywhere from three five steps to seven steps before I'm kicked after being seen on every other floor.

The timer on the upper floors is definitely not giving as many moves as the lower floors. Pretty sure, that is NOT how it is supposed to work.

This is still happening.

Used a knock out bomb - three steps later was kicked.

Second attempt - two steps and kicked.

This is still an issue....

Emery just got kicked after 5 moves and then the second time after 10 moves.

I took Bjorn in to test [since he can't win this one] and he had a different action count too the one time he got kicked.

Unless the kind of action [camera spots you, knockout bomb, kill guard] affects the number of moves you have... or your stats or the relic or shadow power... this is still very confusing and broken.

Also, if it's of any relevance, Bjorn has a Q10 whilst Emery has a Q8.
