It was such a strange and satisfying feeling.

Blaize knew that he shouldn’t have felt lighter. He should have felt heavier, with the weight of this new responsibility. This stranger who was now his, in some way. It was his blood that ran through her veins, that had made her new again. Through the agony of the torn flesh of his neck and the strange sensation of having his own blood taken from him, he could feel the relief, profound and flooding like a deluge after a long, hot drought. The woman let go, having had her fill, and Blaize loosed a breath he’d not known he’d been holding.

It felt like he’d been holding that breath for months.

His head cleared. Darkness abated. ****, he felt normal again. Normal! He’d have to remember this elation, this freedom. Even as the woman writhed and cried with the pain of her rebirth, Blaize just stood there; every now and again he’d squeeze her shoulder reassuringly, or rub idle circles over her back. Soothing, calming. This would pass. He kept an eye on the street nearby, hoping that they would not be interrupted. But they were left well alone. Blaize should have been planning ahead, should have been anxious, but he just felt… dazed.

When eventually her cries abated and she turned her attention to Blaize, he smiled to see her smile. Even though his smile faltered as the question was asked. Why? Honesty.

”Because I needed to,” he said. As selfish as it sounded, he had no other excuses. He looked almost dumbstruck as he said it, too, as if he’d asked himself the same question and had only just realised the answer. Now, he understood the nature of his mood swings.

”You don’t seem concerned. How are you feeling?”

Pierra bit her lip for a moment then glanced aside, Hm, how am I feeling? Good question. Fresh, clean, new, with a thirst. I feel like I could be a god, a deity of the night! Oh what wonder that would be. she thought before pushing herself to her feet and looking back at him, "Like nothing before." She said smiling, before cocking her head and furrowing her brow, "You...really nearly killed me."

There was a pause before she laughed for a moment reaching forwards to lean her hand against his shoulder, "No, wait, I'm actually dead! Ya really killed me! What in the world?! Why am does that seem so funny to me? Should I not be this ecstatic about this?" she said a little loudly before shoving her hand over her mouth and speaking quieter, "Oh, shh, maybe too loud huh? What now? This was definitely not how I expected this to go. I'm an actual vampire, how?! Heh."

She just stood there for a moment quietly stunned. A vampire indeed. This was quite the turn of events. Was it something to be joyful about, or should she be distraught about it? Currently, she really didn't care, she was simply enjoying it even if there was no reason behind that enjoyment.

"What now? It's not like I can just go about like I used to can I?" She commented,

Blaize watched, fascinated. She accused him of nearly killing her and he opened his mouth to tell her that he had killed her, but she beat him to it. His mouth snapped shut momentarily as he frowned at the blonde, not knowing what to make of her. Could it be that she might have wanted this, had he asked? Should he have sat her down on a stoop and explained to her the pros and cons? It didn’t seem to matter. The shake of his head was sharp.

”I killed you but you are alive again,” he said. He hated how cliché it sounded, but nor did he particularly like being called ‘dead’, either. Technically, if their kind were to lay on a hard, metal morgue bed, their eyes closed, could a doctor tell the difference between a vampire or the truly dead? Did it matter what it looked like on the surface? ”You still think and move and act, therefore I believe you’re alive,” he said. Or maybe he said it to assuage some of the guilt. But how could he feel guilty right now? The guilt was so far from his thoughts, so distracted was he by how free he felt. The tangled black cloud of misery that had followed him around was banished.

”You… I mean, it depends on what you did before, I guess. Did it require you to be up during the day? Could you do your job at night? Do you have a job?” he asked. Blaize, the workaholic – of course the first thing he thought about was her job. ”…a boyfriend? Family…? ****, you don’t have children, do you?” Blaize asked. The soldier on the ground twitched and Blaize gently grabbed the woman by her upper arm to move her from the alleyway, to go somewhere else. Somewhere where that soldier’s life would not be in danger.

Pierra cocked her head and shrugged in thought, if that was a way of judging if someone was alive then it was sort of true, but, it seemed more like a philosophy thing then a science thing. Then again, what exactly could walk around while dead, so what science was there to any of this. Ah well, it didn't matter, what mattered was the now and the future, the freedom she had been granted, the power.

She looked back at him as he asked about her life. Job? Not really. Boyfriend? Not that either. Kids? Well certainly not. She shook her head still smiling, then the soldier twitched and her attention gravitated towards him, Blood, you have some left don't you, wouldn't it be so nice to have a little more fill tonight? she thought suddenly before Blaize grabbed her arm gently pulling her elsewhere. She complied, though she was still looking over her shoulder for a moment.

"Well he was unconscious right, surely I could have a little more fill tonight don't you think?" She asked smiling almost playfully, "I mean it's not like I'd really get in trouble for it he's already unconscious nobody would really be able to tell about it."

Blaize remembered what it had been like with Darcy; he'd allowed the woman free reign. He'd waited to see if instinct took hold of her, whether she'd know what to do if presented with a living, breathing, bleeding human. It hadn't been pretty. The man Blaize had chosen for her, a lone man, on the way home from wherever it was he'd been. And now that man was dead. Darcy had the misfortune of lacking fangs, same as her sire. It was not a misfortune that Aleksa suffered -- it was not something all of his childer suffered. Still, he didn't want to take any chances.

Though, she did have a point. Going elsewhere, finding someone else -- it could lead to further incidents. The soldier was right there, an easy target. Blaize remembered the new bullet hole. He'd been shot at, without provocation. He tried to pull on that anger, rather than any guilt that he might suffer.

"I'm going to be standing right here. Don't kill him," Blaize said. He let go of his new charge and approached the soldier. He slid his hands behind the soldier's shoulders, beneath his arms, and hauled him up. With a vampire's strength, the man was light as a feather. With the soldier's back against Blaize's chest, Blaize's elbows hooked beneath his armpits, he was able to grab at the soldier's hair, pull his head to the side, reveal the bare arch of the neck. Here, Blaize had control of the prey. And he could keep an eye on ... ****, he didn't even know her name.

"What's your name, anyway? Have your teeth come through yet...?" he asked, anxious.

Pierra smiled cheerfully nodding gratefully as they walked back to the soldier and she furrowed her brow thinking about it as Blaize picked him up. Then he gave the warning about not killing him and she frowned innocently, and jokingly, waving it away without actually responding. Alright alright I'll be careful. she thought. However once she saw the mans neck that idea kind of vanished as she realized she felt as if she hadn't eaten all day. She didn't even realize her fangs had grown, only the saliva in her mouth.

She stepped forwards putting her hands on the mans shoulders just as she was about to bite but before she did she heard him speak again and paused for a moment, "Pierra," She said smiling answering his question as her fangs showed before she actually reached up with a finger prodding them and grinning, "Heh, guess they did, would you look at that." She said poking them with her finger before pulling it away and smiling with a shrug looking at the soldier again.

"Here goes." She leaned forwards again opening her mouth and wrapping her fangs around the soldiers neck, leaning against him as she did so pulling on the blood and feeling it course down her throat. She may have felt it only a moment ago but it was just as thrilling, only this time she was fully aware of what she was doing. Feel the pulse, feel the mans blood flowing through her, feel the power it granted her, the energy, the freedom, the pleasure in it. She also felt the mans pulse begin to fade. Oh how she dreaded letting go, she wanted to go on just a bit longer, come on, just a little more. Crap just take it all. No, wait, maybe just this once I won't. I'll get a chance some other time, I have a feeling he really wouldn't be happy with me. Somehow that upsets me. Pierra stepped back a little forcefully tapping the neck of the man with her hand on the side where she'd pull from and smiled a little bit.

"Nearly, uh, got a little carried away there." She said honestly, she resisted the urge to just leap forwards and finish it though not exactly hiding that she wanted too all to well when she glimpsed back at his neck.

Pierra. Blaize had heard the name before; mostly when the company had toured through France. Pierra, or Petra. Hadn’t he had a fling with a Petra before? She’d old him the meaning of her name, useless pillowtalk, faff that he couldn’t now forget even if he wanted to. There was no reason why he should remember the meaning of a girl’s name when he couldn’t even remember her face, but there it was. It meant rock, or stone. He’d assumed at the time that she was saying so because she wanted him to think she’d be there for him. An anchor. He’d left before she woke up the next morning and he never saw her again.

This was Pierra, though. Not Petra. Pierra, who seemed all too fascinated and happy to find her fangs, eager to sink them into something soft and juicy.

Blaize watched and waited; he was about to step back, pull back, tear the meal from the vampire before the vampire went too far. But Pierra stopped on her own, to his great relief—though he could see the hunger and the need still in her eyes, in the way she couldn’t keep them from the bared neck. Blaize loosened his hold on the man who was now very thoroughly unconscious and let him slip to the ground, laying him back down. It was Blaize who might be remembered. But maybe this feeding was all for the better. Maybe neither of them would be remembered, and Blaize would have one less person shooting at him for no reason.

”Blaize,” he said, stepping over the body and pressing a hand to the back of Pierra’s shoulder, guiding, a little forcefully, the blonde from the alleyway.

”Feeling any better?” he asked. Why? She seemed over the moon before. Why would it be any different now?

No this was definitely not Petra. Pierra was only partially even Pierra anymore. She really couldn't care though. She was all too happy to be this way. What could possibly be better then becoming a vampire? This was awesome! Still, she didn't want to overstep so soon while she was feeding, not in front of the man who just gave her something she felt she would be eternally grateful for. Ha! Perhaps literally. Vampires were immortal right? She was going to live forever. The gift of an eternity.

Pierra cocked her head as he forced her away, this time far less gently then the last it seemed. She went with it anyway, though there didn't seem to be much of a choice in the matter. She looked at his hand for a moment as he then asked her about how she was feeling. "Hmm? Oh yes splendid! The words could not be better have probably never been more apt!" She said giddily before frowning quizzically.

"Something wrong Blaize?" She asked tipping her head towards his hand questioningly. She was pretty sure it had to do with what she'd just done. But was it even that bad? He was just a human right? Vampires were supposed to be more then that, they were immortal. Sure they could have a little respect, but they were going to die eventually anyway so there really was no need to feel especially keen on protecting them or anything unless you happened to like that specific human.

As soon as they were far enough away from the prone and vulnerable body, Blaize released his hold on Pierra. She was splendid, apparently, which at least allowed Blaize to release any guilt he might have had over turning her without asking. A forced siring, because he needed to. Isn’t that the explanation he gave? He was still trying to come to terms with the truth of it. And she went ahead and had to ask if something was wrong.

Everything was wrong, and yet it was tainted by the lightweight feeling of relief. He pushed his fingers through his hair and took a deep breath; he didn’t need it, but the expansion of his lungs felt good nonetheless. He released that breath in a sigh.

”Not yet,” he said, turning a sharp gaze upon his newest progeny. ”Try not to kill anyone, okay? I’d really prefer it if you didn’t,” he said. Sometimes, **** happened. Sometimes, the control just was not there. Blaize knew that better than anyone. ”You won’t know your own strength for a while, so just be careful,” he said. He paused at the head of the alley, trying to remember what he’d been doing before he’d been waylaid. Whatever it had been, it didn’t matter now. He had more pressing things to deal with.

”There’s a lot you need to know. So I guess it’s a good thing you don’t seem at all disturbed…” he said, trying to ease the tension from his limbs. ”Sunlight is out, Food’s out, unless you’re an allurist. You have fangs and don’t seem to be plagued by any kind of guilt, so that’s good, I guess. Garlic and crosses and holy water do sweet **** all to harm us. There are hunters out to get us. And fairies hate us. They live in the wilderness. Try not to go camping any time soon. Any questions?” he asked. Those were the basics. They needed to find a mirror – at least, then they could rule out one path, or determine it.

Not yet? Well how pessimistic of you. She thought frowning.
”Try not to kill anyone, okay? I’d really prefer it if you didn’t,”
Pierra feigned being offended by his next comment placing her hand over her chest and making a face before chuckling, though she wasn't totally thinking about whether or not it was serious, even though thus far he didn't really seem to have joked she just couldn't see the solemnity of it all.

From there he went on to explain a few things, regarding what she could and could not do. Questions? Ah so many, but those she wanted to answer herself. Just how much punishment could a vampire body take? What would it be like to fight those hunters? How many organs could she count in a human body? But those were personal questions, not things he needed to answer. There was one that came to mind however,

"What would happen, if I get killed?" She asked cocking her head to the side though still smiling as if the question held rather little weight and was no different then asking about a game. Surely they couldn't really die, not for them to exist this long without being hunted down.
