Himiko could be considered Crazy at times, but she certainly kept it hidden as she spoke to Jack some more, though Crazy was in fact something she was used to...

Upon hearing about the Zombie outbreak in Harper Rock "Zombies, that's certainly nothing new back home." she said to him. Before hearing about the rest of the story about the Zombies in Harper Rock.

"Back at home the last Zombie outbreak we had was easily taken care of, although I don't know how Canada takes care of things, but yeah this Harper rock seems in a tough pickle." she said to Jack...

And she listened to his statement about the worlds "From what you gather, this world might merge with another?" she guessed in talking to him pondering that thought abit.

“Really?! You’re putting me on…” Jack replied with a bit of amazed bewilderment as he returned with their drinks and her pack of smokes. He placed Himiko’s mug in front of her before sitting down with his own. Almost forgetting that he was holding the cigarettes, he slid them across the table to her. The young vampire had no idea this type of thing had been happening elsewhere, but it was how nonchalant Himiko seemed about it that really blew him away. It was as if zombies were like gnats in the humid summer sun, existing as a minor annoyance that folks just lived with. She might have been onto something...maybe that attitude was the only true solution.

Truly though, when Jack had first arrived he had thought the whole thing a sham. Something to drum up the fear, get the masses riled up for some ulterior and nefarious motive. But then he became a vampire and saw the proverbial light as he was cast into darkness. Now a coffee mug sat in front of him, the dark roasty smell wreaking a havoc of delight through his nostrils and tickling the pleasure centers of his mind, yet he had no desire to drink it. How quickly things change.

“You know, not really sure the science behind it or if we even have science for it yet,” he responded with a shrug, “I read once about multiple realities all existing simultaneously, fluid in a sense that sometimes somethin’ would slip through from one to the other…” Jack wondered for a moment if Himiko were part of such a slippage. Was it even possible? She seemed to appear out of nowhere and had no recollection of how she found herself here. And Jack was sure he’d never heard of zombies in Japan, hell he’d never heard of zombies outside of the movies before that bus dropped him off in Harper Rock. Was she from another time, another existence? “I think this might be a bit different though, everythin’ that comes through that tear is rather ghastly. It’s a bit like a netherworld of sorts…”

“Way I see it, that place is part of our world, just a part that’s been locked away…” Jack’s voice took on a grim tone. Feeling like having a cigarette himself, He pulled out his own pack from his jacket pocket. He lifted a coffin nail out of the box and placed it between his lips. He shook a small pack of matches out of the box of menthols and struck one. It came to life with a whirling whiz of sulphurous flame. He carefully lit the menthol between his lips before shaking the match out and tossing it’s corpse in the small ashtray on the table. After an inhale of pure, cool, bliss he continued lowering his voice again, as smoke snaked gently above him, “The things that come out of there, I think they were all part of this world once. They’re the creatures of nightmares and tall tales, legends and myths…” he trailed off, lost in thought for a few moments as he took another drag.

“In one sense or another, you can even say we come from there,” the vampire finished as he let the smoke ghost from his lips up toward the ceiling. Jack wondered if Himiko would catch his drift. Sure he didn’t mean Jack and Himiko literally came out of the rift, but rather the peculiar state which they shared seemed to originate from the darkness within it. He was still unsure if she knew that she had become a immortal. Perhaps though vampirism was something that went hand-in-hand with the zombie pandemic she’d mentioned.

She listened to the man "I see." she said, while she was resting and talking to jack. She did not mind it all, she was listening to his story about the netherworld, she had heard of it, but nothing more "I have heard of that name the netherworld, but not much else..." she said to him...

She smiled about it being Different "I like being different." she said listening to the man. Then about Science "There are many different opinions about Science, some believe it and some don't, I'm not sure which." she said listening...

A gruff chuckle escaped his lips as he knocked some ash from his dag into the tray. “Ain’t nothing wrong with being different. It’s all those folks who try so hard to be the same that should be cause for a bit of worry,” Jack responded as he leaned back in his chair. Conformity was a symptom of the virus that plagued the rational of this world. It’s only remedy being self-realization.

“Not much of a scientist, myself, this is all just conjecture. I’d be lyin’ to ya if I said I was sure of any of this,” the vampire brought the cigarette back to his lips, taking another drag. He’d been trying to piece it all together himself. Taking bits from stories that circulated on the streets and in the pubs and grabbing pieces from some library research he’d been doing. Not to mention the info he’d been pulling in for the hotspot itself. As he blew a few smoke rings into the air, his mind turned briefly to it again, “I’m on the fence about a lot of science as well.”

“So,” Jack began gently, “bein’ that the evenin’ doesn’t last forever, have you givin’ any thought as to where you’ll be spending your daytime hours?” Jack still wasn’t positive just how much Himiko knew about herself. The last thing he wanted to see though was a fellow vampire cooking in the sun.

She was listening to Jack carry on as she was smoking her cigarette in the place "Ain't nobody perfect." she said to him grinning. "So there are lots to Canada I see." she said "New things to do." just like Jack, she also had things to do, as the question rose she responded "Not exactly sure, although I wanna go somewhere that there are lots of girls, yes you guessed it, I like girls." indicating to jack that Himiko was indeed lesbian.

However that did not stop them from chatting and having a good time. "Science is a thing that is not really common here in Asia." she said "We do traditions, temples, shrines, that kind of stuff." apparently she was not used to science, then again she had never been out of Asia either until now.

"Being different is fun." she said leaning back with a soft chuckle talking to Jack "So what are you going to do after this?" she wondered in asking him what he was going to do after this time was over because she knew it would not be open all day.

He’d just taken another drag of his cigarette when Himiko commented on her preference. The vampire coughed up a deep chuckle. He couldn’t help it, she was just so forward. It was admirable albeit unusual. “You know…” he said between a smile and a cough, “...never would have guessed, but we do share that in common.” It occurred to Jack suddenly that perhaps Himiko had thought him trying to pick her up. He’d hoped their conversation hadn’t come across that way. He was in a very committed relationship...somewhat complicated, but very committed.

“It certainly sounds like you hail from a mystical place,” Jack began tapping out his smoke, moving the subject away from relationship inclinations, “there’s definitely a lot of ritualistic happenings ‘round here. I’m sure it will suit you just fine. That is, if you plan on hangin’ round the city for awhile.”

What was he planning to do with his evening? He recalled the girl he’d been tracking. The vampire still wasn’t completely certain that she wouldn’t undergo some monstrous transformation before the night ended. Perhaps she already had. Finding her now though could be next to impossible. “Not too sure, maybe do some monster hunting, play a song or two…” Jack hesitated for a moment, holding his tongue. A conversation about intel and intrigue wasn’t one that he wanted to start.

“Really though, was hoping to get you settled in somewhere,” he lowered his voice a bit again, leaning in, “didn’t want to see you stuck outside when the sun decides to show its bright and shiny face.”

She responded to his comment about Asia being a mystical place, she responded "I would not necessarily say mystical, but it does have its ways." she said "Wonder if Canada is mystical." she said leaning back smoking and listening "Monster Hunting you say?, We did that in Asia!" she said wondering how they do that here and upon hearing of another female vampire, that made her curious, very curious indeed, but she knew Jack eventually needed to get on his way and she needed to go other places for assistance.

"I too want to get settled somewhere of course she said." wondering if they have Girls dorms here or the like. "I plan on staying in the city, I was placed here for a reason, even though I know not what the reason is, but I was brought here." she replied. "Don't worry I will try and not let the sun get me." she said chuckling.

She began to get curious and started to think "Hey Jack, you wouldn't happen to know any females that are looking for females would ya?" she said wondering just before the time was over.

“Been wonderin’ that myself, lately,” Jack responded softly as he leaned back into his chair. He let the scent of the untouched fresh roast tickle his nostrils gently. One thing was for certain, there was most definitely something mystical about the peculiar state he’d found himself in these last months. With the magnification of the senses, something he’d once taken for granted, such as the smell of coffee, now took him on a journey all its own. It was almost as if he were transported through time to the sprouting of the coffee plant that would eventually be used to make the brew. He’d swear that he could visualize the entire lifecycle of the plant in just an instant.

Jack grinned, a wry smile, thinking about the monsters that plagued the city. Wondering how long it would be before he’d be counted among them. Perhaps he already had been. “There’re plenty of monsters to hunt here,” he began, keeping that gruff yet smooth, black coffee voice of his low, “it’ll definitely put you to the test.” His mind wandered to May momentarily. She may have been the first true monster he’d encountered here. It was hard to consider her that way, but how else could one describe a phantom trapped somewhere between this world and the next. Latched onto him like a parasite, though their relationship was more symbiotic, always had been.

“That’s a good attitude to have,” there was a bit of relief in the young vampire’s voice. Himiko seemed much more at ease than when they had first begun their conversation. Jack was also glad he didn’t have to break the news to her that she was no longer among the living. It wasn’t a conversation he knew how to have, mostly because many of the finer details of immortality were still mysteries to him.

A large smile spread across Jack’s lips. Well, everyone has needs. “I have to say that I don’t, but don’t fret the city is a big place,” he finished with a quick, knowing wink.
