The voice that bid next wasn't Myk's and it startled her enough to look up from the book she was busy devouring with her eyes. She studied the man for a moment, thinking she'd seen him around, but she wasn't certain. Regardless, he had raised the stakes higher than her's and Myk's playful back and forth. Dhara paused, giving serious thought to her next move. Should she bid again? Nibbling on her lip, her hand reached out to stroke the violin by her side, as if the precious instrument held the answers. A slight nod and her hand returned to the book, as if she had the answer to the question she hadn't asked out loud.

"35 thousand, if you please." She said, countering the strangers bid.

When a third voice joined the bidding scuffle, Myk looked across to see yet another familiar face. He had met this one briefly, a few years ago, but the encounter appeared to be frozen in his mind. Given his very forgetful nature, he found that interesting enough to still his thoughts. Dhara's next bid, however, drew him out again. Coiling a length of platinum hair around his fingers, Myk considered his next move and his end game.

By now he was pretty invested and as the bids closed around them for many other contestants, he felt the net closing here too. The Telepath put a final figure together in his head and then made his next offer clear.

"36,000 from me, please."

Eirik looked toward the other voices. One he finally recognized and he nodded in the direction of that voice the other he did not. Looking back towards the voice on the platform he smiled. He took off his dark glasses showing blank eyes that saw nothing. "I bid 40k."

Her hand touched her violin once more, the book resting in her lap. She was enjoying the bidding as evidenced by the smile on her lips. Glancing up at the contestant, she smiled again. "You seem to be very popular. this night." She chuckled softly, then gave her next move some serious thought. Request a business card from the young man and walk away, or cast another bid. She chose the latter idea. "55 thousand from me."

Myk sat back in his seat and laughed. "My, my, my! What big spenders I am with!" He looked over the contestant again, pewter eyes narrowing with thought. "You are quite the popular one, aren't you." He offered with a low voice, his accent drifting to something Eastern European. "I think you're worth more than 55,000. Don't you?" He paused. "Hmm... Probably not. You look the humble type."

Myk looked over to Dhara and then the other male, whose name escaped him. He was curious about their motivations, simply because he was curious. They should have named him George. That was why he was here afterall. To see what this whole thing was about. And now he was locked in a bidding war until he hit his very strict limit.

"Ok then," he murmured. "Let's play! I shall bid 60,000 for the one named Yasu."

Popular indeed, though for the life of him Yasu couldn't quite contemplate why he'd earned such attention, not to mention the majority of which seemed male. He had absolutely no clue just what intent lay behind the bidders, when he had merely brought himself, a few good selections of books, and some supplies from the dojo. He was loathe to entertain whatever more crude comments the specter over his shoulder taunted him with, though at least one clearly seemed interested in the literature he'd brought. As for the other two? He had no clue.

The man that had removed his glasses answered the silent question he'd been pondering. Not a vampire perhaps, but simply his blindness he'd been referring to. Though Yasu knew little to nothing about vampires save for rumors and stories, it was a common thought that ones healing capabilities as the night bound creatures were enough to prevent such injuries. It only seemed logical as a result to believe that the blind man raising such sudden bids was human, much like himself. The other two he was not so certain of, though it did not bother him much. He was simply curious as to what hints might expose one of the undead, for the simple sake of a logical mind at work.

Two comments on his popularity were both met with what could only be labeled as a sheepish expression. "I.. suppose," he answered somewhat with a faltering tone, his thumb pressing to the corner of the book on his lap. He would have argued that it wasn't humility that placed his worth lower than the numbers at work, but simple fact. He was by no means an esteemed or famous man, nor one of the night. He was an amateur sorcerer at best, and just a small name in the land of literature, even on a local standpoint. Perhaps the only redeeming quality he considered for himself was his ability as a swordsman and Kendo teacher, and his other, yet unshown talents. Even then, one simple skill that bordered on its own form of magic could hardly compare to that which was showcased from other booths.

They were flattering comments nonetheless. He had come with his highest expectation being the bare minimum bid from a pitying soul, and had instead been blessed with numbers that touched on a higher salary than what he earned annually. Even if a part of him was disbelieving, it was no less a pleasant feeling to be attributed to, and made the night very much worth venturing out of his usually quiet, crowdless lifestyle. A small hint of a smile was offered to Myk in response to the comment of his worth, one which softened the somewhat sharp angles of Asian features into something much softer. "That is kind of you to say, thankyou." For once it was easy to ignore the chattering of the specter shadowing him, his mood too lifted to be concerned.

Eirik listened to the other two it had been his thrall who stood by his side that he took as a friend. Andy whispered into Eirik's and he nodded. My friend and I like your style. Even if I can not read your book if you tell me what they are I might find them in Brail or you could read them to me. How about we go to 65k for the young man." Looking back over to the voice of Myk a smile comes to his lips. "It is nice to see you again my friend though you have probably forgotten the name as I know you to do. It is okay."

The game was truly afoot now and Dhara smiled, tucking a lock of blue hair behind her ear. She found a scrap of paper to mark her page and set the book delicately aside. The pixie like woman stood, being sure to collect her violin, and climbed off the platform. Walking over to Myk, she craned her head back to look up at the tall man. A too thin arm slid around his waist as she hugged him close. "It really is good to see you again, my friend. I have missed your company."

Myk had been her very first friend in the city and her memories of him were fond, toned in the sepia fading of time. But still, even as the memories faded, Myk held a special place in her heart. And she was hoping to destroy him in this auction. Playfully, of course, but she was out to win. "70 thousand for the young man and his collection of books." She called out, her voice lifting. She maintained her place beside Myk, an arm casually linked around his waist.

A chuckle, or some other reminiscent sound of mirth and mischief, came from the Telepath’s lips at the response from the familiar, yet at the moment, name-lacking, male Vampire in their midst. Pewter eyes flickered over his outline, judgingly, paying him more mind now than he had done so in years since their meeting in the Quarantined Zone. Myk was pretty shallow... as well as forgetful. The more he looked, however, the more he saw – not merely from the furrow in the man’s brow that remarked on the suffering in his young life, but from a whispering of some enigmatic source too. It told him things he shouldn’t know, like the fact that this blind Allurist was actually named Eirik Loki.

“Well, I am sorry,” he offered Eirik with no single ounce of regret or guilt resonating in his voice. “But I can hardly be expected to be perfect! There has to be a flaw somewhere for a person as beautiful, charismatic, intelligent, and humble as myself…”

It was then, when Myk was smirking childishly over his own joke, that Dhara moved from her spot at the platform and his gaze fixed to her like a hunting wolf sighting a fleeing bird. Yet, the woman didn’t run away. As a matter of fact, she advanced on him, slipping beside him and coiling an arm around his waist like a juvenile python. He tensed just enough to be perceived by the Vampire’s enhanced senses, not because she made him uncomfortable in the slightest, but as a measure of his resolve. He was not about to be distracted by this pretty damsel when there was a prize to be won!

As the bid went from 60,000 to 65,000 and then 70,000 in a matter of seconds, the Telepath felt determined to apply a very natural addendum. Yet, not without a targeted word to his friend, Dhara.

“You minx,” he uttered, as sharp and low as a knife to the ribcage. He nudged her lightly, letting his body weight fall against her. “I dare say that despite my fondness for you, my dear, I’d really rather prefer you weren’t here. Bidding against me. Now I have to put forward 75,000 for the boy and his… books.”

Eirik laughed as Myk spoke to him. Yep Myk was still the same and it was good to know that. "You will never change my friend and I like that about you. I raise the bid to 80k. Andy says he is worth the bidding to go that high if not higher." Andy nodded his head as he stood beside Eirik. He did not take his eyes off the man with the books. As he knew Eirik would love to hear the stories. Eirik on the other hand would go until he ran out of money to bid with.
