XP Boost Days - How Often is too Often?
Right now I've allowed it so that people can unlock as many boost days as the community can manage, as I know people have quite a bit of free karma laying around they'd like to burn through. But when that levels out, the boost days will slow down, and that's good, because too many could be a bad thing in my opinion.
My initial thinking is that each type of special event / boost day (XP, energy, bosses, special raids etc) should have a 7 day cool down period in between unlocks. So you wouldn't be able to unlock another of the same type for a full week after the last one starts. What do you think?
Of course, random XP days will still be possible, and won't be made less frequent.

Im curious to how high the players would get the exp bonus if it wasn't capped at 6.
Also that sounds good to me. Im curious to see the raid and bosses

Re: XP Boost Days - How Often is too Often
Honestly, on the 'oh, this is amazing side' - I don't think it's too often at all. >.>;
Now, for the serious note, however. I do agree on the seven days. I think that would be a nice balance so people aren't rushing through levels. I had originally had the thought to have it seven days from each boost - I.E. - Activate 6x, wait seven days for another, but in the meantime, you can still activate the other boosts. Then I realized that still allowed you to have multiple boosts back to back.
I do think that it'll slow down after a while, though, when people start wanting to conserve their karma. Like me. And my accidental triggering of the 6x because I refreshed the page a couple of times and it kept taking karma. >.>:

Well, probably not a lot further, because energy bonus event days haven't been unlocked yet, even though both can be unlocked at once. So we know that people will only spend so much karma. Right now I think the price is a good balance, but yeah I think there needs to be a cool down period.PsychoCliff wrote:Im curious to how high the players would get the exp bonus if it wasn't capped at 6.

I think 7 days is fair. Considering we were all able to chip in to the point that we've had 3 of these in a row now, I don't see having the contributions on the cd being a problem.
And as you said, when the game-wide karma pool levels out, it'll slow down significantly anyway. I know I've gone through a lot of my own in energy boosts alone.
So far, though, I really like the feature. I like that we work together toward a common goal on an ooc level, even if it is anonymous. xD

People might not be unlocking the boosted energy because is a week day and most people work and stuff. So they can't capitalize on the boosted energy. We'll see this see this weekend when people might have more time to fully utilize it.

I think 7 days is a bit too much, how about 5? That way you won't get more than one IN a week and the day won't end up always being the same day of the week?

I agree, it's nice that people worked together and benefitted each other.Starla wrote: I like that we work together toward a common goal on an ooc level, even if it is anonymous. xD
I think 3-5 cooling off days would likely be best. If it does get sit on the shorter end of a cooling off period, perhaps maybe make it a cap on how many 6x days we can get in a row?

With random free days too, it might end up being too many still. Especially with all the other possible community bonus days. I'd say 6 or 8 days in between.Alexandrea wrote:I think 7 days is a bit too much, how about 5? Yeah the community things clearly seem to be a bit of a hit. Right now there are already two people seem to be working on.
Maybe you could go with eight and just have an exception for special days like Christmas, Easter, New years, and such?
