"His name was Ignacio I believe. However, he seems to have disappeared. Or at least he learned his lesson to leave us alone. Thank God." Meara visibly shuddered as she recalled that whole ordeal with Rowan. Meara was just the unlucky reciver of some intimidation by another of Ignacio's cronies. However, Meara used her powers to disarm him long enough so she could flee. "He was one of those overly holy men. He thinks that God has ordered his order to kill all of us vampires I think. I think that's a shame cause God would never order one of his children to murder others." Meara herself was a bit of a walking contradiction. Partially undead and still a believer in the Lord.

As she turned the corner, Meara raised the barrel of her rifle to check for more of the Lionelli. However, she didn't find any so she proceeded to walk down the hall and do the same motions at the next corner. "So what brought you to Harper Rock, hmm?" The redhead queried as she glanced a look back to the paladin. She loved listening to people's stories about how they came to be here. It never ceased to amaze how many foreigners happened to wind up in this small place. All walks of life, all colors. Stories were the cocaine of creativity, as they provided new viewpoints and feelings. so Meara liked to collect as many tales as she could as to supply her composing with fodder for inspiration. So why not add a paladin's tale to the mix?

Locklands eyes narrowed as he saw a figure before noticing it was only semi visible. He was pretty sure he was going crazy, this was the second time something was happening that only seemed to be happening to him. What in the world?! He only barely managed to understand what Meara was telling him, ignoring the thing for now.

"Certainly wouldn't call that overly holy, sounds more like a radical then a legitimate philosopher of any kind." He said to Maera. He had his own opinions of the undead and all these things, though it seemed, like her, he did have a belief there was a God. He certainly had christian believes, mostly Catholic, though he was never really taught all that much about them. He just sort of knew what was morally expected of him.

The..."Vision" vanished. It was a bit...unsettling. He wondered if it was some kind of vampire or fae or something following them. Still, he relaxed a bit, holding his weapons more loosely as Maera asked him a question and he had to think for a moment, "Uh, a few years ago I decided I wanted to try doing something away from my family, that and I wanted to see if the myths about Canadians were actually true. Honestly I still don't know for sure cause I ended up here and things are totally...insane. What about you?"

As Lockland expressed his opinions of Ignacio, and others like him, Meara could feel the stress easing out of her frame. Perhaps, the man that haunted her dreams may have actually been the exception to how most paladins behaved. Meara also assumed that Flynn was also an exception to the rule as he was actively loving the species he was supposed to hate. So maybe, most paladins were like the man walking alongside her. Struggling with the morality of harming other living beings out of instinct while trying to survive in the insanity known as Harper's Rock. When she put it to herself like that, the two species seemed a lot more alike to Meara then different.

These thoughts caused her lips to upturn into a smile, probably the first one that hadn't been tinged with anxiety. "I too was drawn by the rumors about what was going on here. But more indirectly." Meara commented to his inquiry of her circumstances of arriving in Harper's Rock. "I was working in Toronto at the time, and we heard about the reports that vampires were living here and how many people were traveling to see for themselves over the summer vacations. You see, I'm a busker. So crowds are how I make my money. I followed the throng, and here I am. I too think the stories really didn't do the reality of the situation here any sort of justice. Its like waking up in a different novel every week."

As she peeked around the next corner, she saw one of the Lionelli initiates chatting with one of the mages. So Meara leaned back on the wall and started to load the rifle. Blue eyes shot a glance to Lockland like 'I hope your ready.' This really wasn't the place to be having a getting to know you chat, so Meara was formulating ideas. "Hey after we dispatch more of these jerks, wanna grab a coffee?" She offered before turning the corner and opening fire.

Lockland nodded very agreeingly about that the stories did not do this place justice. This place was wilder then he could ever have expected and even now there were things that still were just absurd to him. But, funny as it was, he was one of the things that would have utterly surprised him just a few years ago. In truth he was still awed at the powers he had been able to gain. "It's quite the wild place indeed." He agreed.

He silenced himself as he watched her turn around to look for a lionelli, putting on a more serious face, and feeling his weapon moving it into a more prepared position as he tipped his head towards her to say he was prepared. Before being met by a surprise offer to grab a coffee afterwards just before she leapt out from behind the corner and opened fire. He hesitated for a moment, Crap get out there you nitwit, there's a vampire present, answer when you have the chance. he thought lunging out from behind her and sending bursts of fire at the Lionelli mage.

Crap, two of em. He thought furrowing his brow and starting to move forwards as he fired using incitement once gain to direct fire at himself hoping ever so much that Maera could at least pick off one of them before the distance was closed as they rushed towards him. "The answer would be yes if I don't get torn to shreds." he managed to half shout drawing his blade and lunging off to one side barely dodging one of them swiping at him.

Meara watched Lockland charge forward out of the corner of her eye. The hostile vampires seemed enraged by Lockland's presence with them, which took their attention off her person. This was fortuitous as it allowed her to take time to reload her rifle and set her feet as so she could aim. Her left eye closed as she looked down the barrel sight, lining up the mage that as closest to her new acquaintance. Mea exhaled an unnecessary breath, and as her lungs emptied she squeezed the trigger.

The vampire she struck in the head staggered for a few steps before it crumpled onto the brick floor. The mage twitched for a moment before it started to dissipate into ash to be carried to the shadow realm. Her attention turned to the second mage moving closer as she started to line up the shot. Her second shot did not strike as true, embedding itself in the creature's chest . However now it was closing in on Lockland, causing Meara to hesitate as she tried to get off another clean shot on the closing Mage. How embarrassing would it be if she accidentally shot the man she was trying to befriend and find an understanding with? He would likely kill her for such a transgression. So Meara slung the riffle back over her shoulder, unsheathed her short sword, and started to creep up on the Lionelli soldier from its flank. She hoped this one would be easily dispatched by Lockland, as her knife play was sorely lacking compared to guns.

Lockland felt a bit of relief as he saw one of them go down. Still, there was one left. And these things were ridiculously tough. A series of strikes from his sword towards the vampire, which managed to dodge them all. It attacked with it's own blade and he narrowly dodged it, ducking down and kicking it back just staggering it enough to hack at it. Unfortunately it wasn't a killing blow, but it did sever it's arm from its torso. That was a good thing at least.

Before he could move he felt a sword dig into his arm. It didn't get too far fortunately. It had the advantage, repeatedly striking at him. He managed to deflect or dodge most of the potentially critical ones, and very occasionally got in one of his own. But things were not going fantastic. Just needed a little chance and he might be able to get the sword through it's head.

He was greatly irritated he couldn't deal with these things more easily. Even now he was struggling with it. Just a little distraction should do it. he thought to himself trying to dodge or deflect as it pressed forwards.

Meara quickly reloaded her rifle, her gaze staying fixed on the combat going on across from her. She didn't envy Lockland's position right now. She was terrible in close quarters fighting and was clumsy with swords. So Meara did most of her practicing with guns as it was likely safer for everyone. The barrel of her gun lifted as she set up to try to shoot the target that Lockland was still engaged with, but they were moving around so much it was hard for her to focus.

The last thing she wanted to do was shoot the paladin when she thought they were actually connecting a little bit as people not species. What to do what to do. Then it came to her - she could use her mind to add to the distraction. She mentally reached across the room, seeking out the mind of the vampire. As the Lionelli were somewhat mindless in following commands, it was fairly easy to distinguish Lockland from their assailant based on who had more independent thoughts. Meara's consciousness slipped into the Lionelli's and just unloaded a barage of thoughts.

The creature immediately staggered back, grasping its head. With a little space now put between the creature and Lockland, Meara aimed and fired a round into the initiates shoulder.

As the vampire stumbled back Lockland noted it and took the chance, swinging his blade as hard as possible and cutting into its skull then repeating the action splitting through it before the thing could get the chance to fight back. He dropped to the ground holding himself up by his sword and breathing heavy shaking his head before looking as the thing slowly vanished away into the shadow realm. Oh thank goodness he thought smiling and looking over to Meara waving weakly and shoving himself to his feet to collect himself.

"Well..." He steadied himself with his sword for a moment, "I hope that was classified as more jerks. Because I'm honestly not sure I could take on any more of these things." Lockland said shaking his head and walking back over to her looking at where the Lionelli had been.

Lockland was starting to get his breath back, but only barely. These things were ridiculously tough, and he realized he still had a few good wounds on him that he should probably tend to. But on the other hand, hey, someone asked if he wanted to have coffee with him. That didn't happen to often and he was mostly sure none of his injuries were deadly so thought maybe he should at least make sure that offer was still up.

"Still up for coffee?" He asked furrowing his brow hopefully.
