Two Women and a Guy [Liz]

Elizabeth
Even though there seemed to be a lot going on lately, Elizabeth had a preplanned meeting with Amalea. Not wanting to go too far from where Charles was, Elizabeth parted her lips to speak to the woman, before turning her attention solely on Amalea. "Amalea, I believe I saw something in the water a few feet from here. Join me?" There was nothing there, of course, but it was an opportunity to escape and speak with the woman.

Amalea
It had been an interesting couple days as of late. First the attack upon her thrall followed by one against her own person; today had been blissfully quiet as the gnat hadn't made himself known again. The red-head was looking forward to her chat with Liz this evening, though now that she knew Doc was safe, she didn't want to stray too far, just in case the gnat came visiting for any of them. She smiled lightly at woman's question, wondering if the elder hadn't had the same thought. "I'd love to," she nodded.

Elizabeth
"Wonderful." She beamed, then linked their arms together before moving with Amalea away from Doc. Just enough away to keep an eye and ear on him, should anything...interesting arise. Once they were far enough away, Elizabeth looked at Amalea candidly. "It is good that he is safe and well. That must ease your mind so." She tilted her head towards the woman's body as their arms slowly became unlinked, Elizabeth wanting to observe Amalea and her reactions, because while Elizabeth had no idea what was going on with Doc and Amalea, something was going on. Perhaps not something in the respects that most women thought, but there was something there...

Amalea
Amalea laughed softly as her arm was linked into Liz's and they moved off a bit. Given the distance they had stopped at, it seemed as though her thought that Liz was of the same mind was likely correct. She couldn't help but smile at Liz and her statement. "Indeed, it is. It is good to see that he has not found himself in a funk as well." Amalea relaxed as their arms unlinked, though she did glance in Doc's direction as she continued, "It does. I'm probably crazy to worry, but I do." Her attention turned back to Liz with a smile, "I wouldn't blame you if you thought I was."

Elizabeth
"Crazy?" Elizabeth tipped her head in the opposite direction, before slowly shaking it. "I believe between the both of us, you win the title of being the most sane." Her lips pressed together into a thin line as her eyes wavered over to Doc, before returning to Amalea. "I had not thought of a possibility of another...funk as you call it, but it was a logical conclusion given the reappearance of his exwife." She sighed gently, before smiling. "I have always commended your intelligence and perception of things, which is why I think Charles gets along with thee so well."

Amalea
Her eyes widened slightly as Liz claimed she would be the more sane of the pair. The red-head wasn't so sure about that assessment; many would question her sanity based solely on the idea that she enjoyed hanging around with vampires over humans. A smile tugged at her lips as she watched Liz; she was thrilled the woman seemed to be very good for Doc. She couldn't help but blush at Liz's comments; she didn't think such things were so special. It was just normal to her. Her lips twitched into a smile at the comment about why the pair got along so well. That was enough to convince Amalea that Liz suspected things were not as they appeared. "I have known him for several years. Odd to think it’s been that long, really. I always did enjoy those conversations we had. They made up for all the boring nights at work."

Elizabeth
She nodded her head. "Yes, I remember. Charles said that he knew you when you worked at...The Necropolis, I believe?" Elizabeth had no real opinion of the place other than once upon a time it allowed certain vampires safe haven while they racked up bounties, while pretending to care about such things. Her brother had brought that to light when he ran the Hellhounds. Where was her brother, come to think of it? It made Elizabeth frown just a little bit. "Years is a long time for a human to remain such when they know so many vampires..." Elizabeth commented idly, before coming straight to the point. At least the one she believed to be the point. "I imagine at some point, the idea of vampirism might appear to be appealing?"

Amalea
"Aye, I was hired as a Blood Doll by Amaranthia and stayed with Pi and Lancaster acquired it from her, even though they changed it into an Irish Pub." Her nose wrinkled at the memory, "I hated it, but I stayed for the patrons. Was an awesome day when Amara took it back, though the damage was done." She blinked at the woman's comment and question. It was her sincere hope that Elizabeth wasn't fishing for a new childe, though she didn't seem to be. It seemed to be genuine curiosity. "It is. I'm honestly shocked no ones attempted to jump me and force the change," she shook her head. "Not that I want that, of course. Mortll keeps telling me I'd make a wonderful vampire. Though.. I'm not sure about that, myself. I think there's more benefits in remaining human, especially currently. Unless its a dire situation, it'd be something I consider in depth if and when it happens. One issue I forsee is too many in the city would want the 'honor' for the 'trophy'."

Elizabeth
Elizabeth briefly recalled the change in ownership to Pi which brought a change to the club as well. Not being a club or pub person, Elizabeth had perhaps ventured inside each perhaps a total of two times. "Not everyone sires recklessly. Though, if I am to be honest, upon my return I had sired a few too many out of fear. Unlike most others, I learned quickly how stupid that was and have not sired in some time. Still, I knew someone who watched a mortal for many months before making their move and offering them immortality." She rolled her shoulders. "It would not surprise me that a truly patient individual could wait years." Elizabeth stated, not stating who the patient person might be in this scenario. "I believe both species have their perks, but as you said, if I were you, I would enjoy the human benefits as much, and as often as possible, before taking the final plunge, so to speak." Elizabeth smiled, pleased with herself and being able to address that tactfully without expressing her genuine concern.
Why are you taking me through troubled waters, I asked? Because your enemies cannot swim, he replied.

The red-head was more confused this morning than she had been last evening. Granted she knew she still needed to talk to Elizabeth given their last attempt had been cut short. That much she had certainly gotten from the exchange. Though she had planned to do so anyway; the elder vampire had been on the very short list of people she planned to have a chat with on the same topic. Amalea just hadn’t found the opportunity to talk to anyone about it yet, though she knew it would have to be sooner than later.

No, it was the subtle insinuation that she’d end up food for the wild animals of Africa that were cause for concern. Surely she’d remember if she had done something to upset the woman, wouldn’t she? Amalea supposed it could be that Liz thought that there was going on between the red-head and Doc, which was only partly true and not at all like she suspected the woman believed. Though, it wasn’t like she really knew what the elder vampire was thinking. But at the moment, she wasn’t willing to run the risk of her being serious about the wildlife. She’d give the woman a few days to cool off before she went looking for her; not that she had seen her around anyway since.

November 21, 2017

Elizabeth had found the red-head the night before as she had been wandering around. It was an interesting change from the other eve, thankfully. The pair of women had discussed the battle that Amalea had taken part in for Voodoo Dragons. She enjoyed them as it was a wonderful release and a hands-on way to hone her skills in a fairly controlled environment. In reality, the red-head had been rather surprised at the number of head and heart shots she had gotten. Where on average she might get one or two a battle, that evening she had somewhere closer to eight.

Amalea still wasn’t certain what to make of the older woman’s comment about her and Doc potentially traveling, particularly to the United States. Liz has also mentioned the celebration of a holiday, which wasn’t too out of place given Thanksgiving there was only a couple days away. It was a holiday the red-head hadn’t celebrated after her first year in Harpers Rock. There was no reason or sense in her making a proper Thanksgiving dinner just for herself, given the vast majority of her new friends were unable to partake of it.

November 24, 2017

She had been a bit confused when Elizabeth had asked if she was from the United States until the English woman had asked if she’d be celebrating Thanksgiving – the American version. Of course, she had mentioned that she hadn’t since coming the Harper Rock years ago, especially given there was no one to share it with as most of her friends couldn’t eat. Liz’s solution was to modify the tradition though she’d also been quick to point out Doc could eat. Honestly, if the red-head didn’t know the two were smitten with each other, she’d have sworn Liz was trying to thrust her and Doc together; unless there was another reason the elder had in mind.

The discussion that had followed had been interesting. Amalea had been insistent she wasn’t about to cook just for herself; there was no reason to go through all the effort. Liz had been adamant on some sort of celebration, though she had begged off on joining it given her English heritage. Doc’s suggestion of hanging out and drinks at Voodoo had become the plan. The red-head just hadn’t been sure about swapping the embarrassing childhood stories in public; partly due to the campaign and partly due to her own childhood. Mortll had been present for the discussion though she hadn’t contributed anything until the end when she had offered up full run of the snack bar to the human.

She hadn’t been quite sure what had changed overnight, but Liz had finally acquiesced to joining them at Voodoo for the night’s celebration. The English woman had even brought a platter of biscuits seemingly to stand in place of the more traditional turkey. Indeed, the acorn shape cookies were a perfect substitute in the red-head’s mind. For the others, Amalea had brought along blood jellies. It wasn’t the typical fare, but it was well suited to the occasion. Liz’s cookies had paired rather well with the glass of white wine as did the company and conversation.

That it turned to the upcoming pit fights wasn’t overly surprising though she hadn’t been aware that Doc had known she had signed up. It had been quite amusing to see the concept explained to Elizabeth, particularly given Doc had chosen **** fights to which to compare them. Eventually Amalea had taken pity on the woman and explained them a little better. No chicken, no death but a lot of fighting. She had even suggested that Doc show Liz Fight Club some night as a better example of what was meant. A promise had been made to the elder that she would accompany the woman to the facility the night of her own fight so that she may witness pit fighting firsthand.

They’d been joined by others by that point and she had found that Enver had gone up against Minx and won, though by the appearance of the man it was clear the woman had fought well and was not one you wanted on their bad side. That Doc wanted Amalea to meet her at some point was a bit intimidating, but she figured it would be safe enough. Mortll had been serving a Thanksgiving dinner upstairs and had brought the red-head a plate of meats and cheeses. Though why the woman had been doing something for American Thanksgiving had been a mystery; she didn’t choose to pursue the reasoning behind it.

The crash-bang entry of a heavily bleeding male vampire had been the turning point for the night sending things spiraling downhill faster than dry wood catching fire. That a very pissed-off Liz had scooted closer to her hadn’t escaped her notice, particularly given she herself had already been on high alert; it wasn’t every day one fell down the stairs in such a state. Never mind the subtle shift in patrons as at least one gun found its way from its holster. It looked like most wouldn’t be taking a chance if they even believed that the threat was viable. That the injured one seemed to know Mortll did nothing to ease the tension of the room.

The real downhill turn, though, seemed to take place as soon as Doc had suggested they make an exit and go elsewhere. It was a sentiment the blood thief wholeheartedly embraced. She had no desire to be caught up in whatever drama was unfolding with the mystery visitor and, more importantly, she had been enjoying her evening. She had been ready to tear Mortll a new one for even daring to blackmail Doc into helping her; thankfully, she had wisely shoved one of Liz’s delicious cookies in her mouth rather than cause a scene though she wasn’t likely to forgot or forgive that for a while. Especially when more insults came tumbling out of Mortll’s mouth after Doc had assisted her.

Amalea had gotten a quiet, yet forceful, lecture on not putting others at risk in such a situation. She had to agree with all the points he made, particularly given such would draw too much attention to her friends and herself. It was too much of a risk to be seen in public like that. She had known that for years though luckily she had never found herself in such a situation and hoped she never would. Of course, that thought was futile given her position in the dynamics of the city meaning it was only a matter of time. In truth, it was touching that he cared so much which was a rather unique experience for her.

He had left right after, apologizing as he did so for ruining the evening. She had followed behind to tell him it wasn’t his fault, but he had vanished by that point. Not wanting to go back inside, she had headed towards her usual haunt only to change directions upon receiving an invitation to join the couple elsewhere. It had been an interesting after party where discussion had focused on the idiot party crasher and really, she couldn’t blame Doc for being so upset over it. It was beyond annoying that one would put an entire race at risk either for themselves or for just a single member of the race. She just wasn’t sure about the proposal to close the rift; that would require some thought.

November 26, 2017

Elizabeth had sought her out in their usual haunt for a bit of a talk. It wasn’t usual though the topic was unique. The woman’s opening comment reminded the red-head of a quote from The Goblet of Fire by Dumbledore where one had to choose between what was easy and what was right. The English woman certainly had found herself a dilemma which Amalea was happy to give her a few options to deal with it. She had also suggested the woman talk to Doc as he would be a better source, but she did understand the reluctance to do so given the situation. She was sure that Liz would chose to do what was right though it would be a long time coming.

Given the situation, the red-head had recalled that she and Liz hadn’t been able to finish their other Doc-centric talk that night earlier in the month. With the situation the woman faced, her recent comments and her actions, it was imperative they finish that talk sooner than later. She had always intended to do so, ever since being told it was hers to tell, the time just had never been there. Pulling out her phone, she sent a text to the woman, [text] Can we meet up somewhere and talk? Perhaps a bit more private than our usual place?

"We should sell biscuits here during the holidays."

Elizabeth looked pointedly at Diederik, clearly seeking his advice and opinion on the matter.

"You could, but think of the cost for specially ordering products you might not have on hand.

"Such as...flower? Eggs?"
She tilted her head, clearly amused.

"I was thinking if your...wait. Do you mean biscuits as in slather some butter on them, or your people's biscuits?" He asked, wondering about the language barrier.

"My people's?" Elizabeth asked, blue eyes not holding my humour in them anymore. "Vampires do not eat them, unless they are Allurists, or have trained themselves."

"No, I mean English biscuits, or what American's consider biscuits? They're more savory than sweet."

"Ahh, I see. I meant cookies? That is what I have heard them referred to before. But, no matter. It is something to think upon, before deciding upon it for the Christmas season."
Elizabeth decided in that moment, that if she wanted to sell certain things at holiday's...she would. She did not need Diederik's approval for her business. Her's. Not his. He was just managing her business, but Elizabeth could afford to spend a couple hundred dollars out of pocket, if need be to make the food items she wanted to make, if need be.

Her phone danced on the counter across from the one she was making some crust for tomorrow's tarts, causing the woman to wave a dismissive hand to her thrall. "We will discuss this more another evening. You have your school work, I believe?" It was a clear indication that Elizabeth wanted her space and privacy, as the woman wiped her hands on her apron, took it off and then moved to the counter with the phone that was both silent and still. She waited until Diederik was out of the kitchen, before Elizabeth opened the application and raised a high brow. She had honestly not expected a message from the woman, in truth. From anyone, really, but the fact it was coming from her and Amalea wanted to talk, had Elizabeth's brows furrowing in thought.

There were mixed feelings about the woman, simply because Elizabeth did not understand why Doc allowed someone he was so fond of, to live a mortal existence. After all, had he not expressed the opinion that should she come across the cure, it would probably be in her better interest to not take it? If not due to her age, then to who really knew? Age was what he used, along with the uncertainty, but it seemed as if Doc was more than happy to have Elizabeth remain a vampire, but allow Amalea to remain human. It was an interesting concept, one that she chalked up to as the pair being 'kindred spirits,' and believed that one evening, Doc would sire Amalea, but that time was not now. Not that she could blame him, he was running for office, times were troubling with the Sirens, and so many other factors went into siring someone, if one was a responsible sire. Such as Doc.

Elizabeth typed out a reply to the woman, [I am free in about half an hour? Would you like me to come to you, or shall you come to me?], then went to wash her hands and store the crusts in one of the man coolers in the kitchen.
Why are you taking me through troubled waters, I asked? Because your enemies cannot swim, he replied.
