Progress Update - Current Project: Endless Labyrinth
I'm gonna use this thread to update you on the progress of the next major update: the endless labyrinth. My guess is that people like to be teased about the updates, and to know that I'm working on things behind the scenes.
I was originally going to roll out enchanting first, and I might well still do that, but I'm pondering over whether or not enchanting requires a minigame first.
As the name suggests, the endless labyrinth is a truly endless dungeon. It works a little like a raid, but the floors are randomly generated as you descend, and the monsters just get harder and harder stat-wise with more and more fearsome sounding names. And yep, they'll give more EXP the harder they get. It'll have re-spawning traps, secret walls, and the layout of the whole thing will shift and reset once a month.
So far I've coded it so that it spawns a new floor when you descend. This keeps people on their toes and makes mapping it almost pointless. I'll keep you updated on the progress as I go.
Yep, this will be available for both Path and Blood.

Coded secret passage spawning and the creation of procedurally generated NPCs. Next step is to make the NPC's stats auto adjust depending on how strong they are supposed to be, and award appropriate amounts of EXP. Then I'll just apply the raid code to it, and it should be good to go.

Will loot drops be uniform across the board, or will it scale up at all with subsequent floors?

This sounds interesting. If these dungeons are endless, how do you get out? Will a character go back to the start if they lose a battle?

If it's set like raids you'd drop and have to start over

There's only so high that loot can scale up, but yeah the idea is that the deeper you go the better random weapon parts you find. Maybe some gems mixed in there, and occasional fae shards.Azraeth wrote:Will loot drops be uniform across the board, or will it scale up at all with subsequent floors?

Yes, right to the start if they lose 1 single fight.Aaron Hunter wrote:This sounds interesting. If these dungeons are endless, how do you get out? Will a character go back to the start if they lose a battle?
