Re: Question on Training Equipment
I'd love some clarity on this issue, if possible.
Can a character gain energy while they are parked up on a square or not? David's post suggests that they won't, whereas Pi's post suggests that they do.
Do characters gain exp immediately on the meditation squares? If characters are able to gain exp AND refill their energy at the same time, then this seems incredibly iffy. A character could simply burn through their energy, park up on a meditation square, and gain free exp while refilling their energy as normal.
As a player who is first and foremost a gamer (an endangered species here?), getting exp for nothing already sits uneasily with me. I'm sure that if I asked for free RPP because I'm too busy to write, I'd be greeted with some unusual looks :)
My initial understanding of this system was that it would be a tool for players who need a break. They park up a character, vanish for a few weeks while they are too busy, and then return to pick up the reins again. If it turns out that characters can gain energy while they get the free exp, then this system actually seems like a levelling tool for active characters.

Re: Question on Training Equipment
I parked characters at full energy and they gained nothing and lost nothing. Aside from those who work and will lose by the hour, my energy doesnt bulge. I cannot earn any, and I do not use any. At least that's what I've seen.

Re: Question on Training Equipment
If you look at my screen shots you will see that my post doesn't suggest, it proves that energy isn't taken and XP isn't accrued until after Pi reached max energy.
My screenshots also prove;
- no experience was gained while Pi's experience filled to max (look at experience counter)
- based on the fact her experience level didn't move. It seems to me that the 30XP seemed to only have started after she reached max energy, assuming of course that it is using all of that experience that was wasted by me not moving my character around due to inactivity.
Davids original statement said the bookshelf/meditation square wouldn't take existing energy, it will only take.
nEw and accruing energy, so from that standpoint being at max energy and not losing anymore would be appropriate.

Re: Question on Training Equipment
Pi, I'm not sure if you agreeing or disagreeing with me :p
David's statement says that: "It will prevent energy from filling up while you're on one of the squares."
Your screenshots clearly show that your energy is going up, contradicting David's statement.
Unfortunately, your first two screenshots are only 3 hours apart, so if you were gaining exp it would only amount to 90exp which, at your level, would possibly not shift your exp counter, so it could remain at 29.7%. In other words, it's not clear if you are gaining exp or not, although it is clear that you are gaining energy. Obviously, as time moves on, you can visibly see an increase in exp, and you can also see that your energy is completely filled.
So, it appears that energy does fill, but it's unclear as to whether or not you get exp straight away, or your energy has to fill up first.
I'm sure that we'll get a definitive answer soon enough :)

Re: Question on Training Equipment
Giving a bookcase a run, noted my exp, energy and the time and such.
23,702 exp 6.8 energy right now.
Back in 8 or so hours :)

That's cause I was neither agreeing nor disagreeing I think more clarifying.Aaron Hunter wrote:Pi, I'm not sure if you agreeing or disagreeing with me :p
But that's a good point about timing. I guess I can do this again and make note of the actual accrued exp each time I look. See what that nets.

Now 24,162 exp, 4.8 energy using the "Quartermaine Custom Creations" bookcase.
This one seems fine I think....

Re: Question on Training Equipment
Yeah, that bookcase at Ally's store seems to be working just fine. Abel's energy hasn't changed since yesterday, but he went from 98.4% to being able to level up today. As for Bjorn, his meditation space in a private lair has also given him no extra energy (he's lost some because of his job), but he has gotten extra experience. Taken at 21:25 PM vs 9:24 AM:

Re: Question on Training Equipment
If a character's energy is already maxed out upon standing on a square, then it cannot go up, so unfortunately that doesn't prove or disprove anything about energy being gained on meditation squares :/
A concern about energy being lost due to a job would be that a character with a job parks up on a meditation square, vanishes for a month because the player needs a break from the game, and when they come back they find that their character is at -500 energy.
Maybe this is just my understanding of how I thought this would work, but if a character stands on a meditation square, shouldn't they effectively just "freeze"? They neither gain nor lose energy, but get 30exp per hour because they are "meditating". The job thing is a bit of a curveball. I'm not sure how a character is working if they are meditating
I think I'll just park a character with low energy on a square, and see what happens :)
