Why can humans enter private abodes?
I've been moving Mackenzie around for a while now (dual class human) and she can get in and out of places no problem. (Sorry to those I've inconvenienced -- she smiled for the camera). I'm just curious (and I probably could do a search re: this topic) as to why a human (especially classed) can enter the private abodes of others, including apartments, if they lack the proper skills/attributes/path/powers to do so...

Re: Why can humans enter private abodes?
The only thing stopping vampires is that they can't entire an abode uninvited, like the vampires from folk tales etc.
It's assumed that most characters are smart or strong enough to break into a house or apartment. Smash a window, knock down the door, force the lock, etc. So for simplicity's sake it was decided that vampires are unable to enter uninvited while humans can because there's nothing of note stopping them. There was going to be some form of enhanced door security coded eventually, which would slow humans down unless they could crack the lock.

I would love this to be a thing - either with mechanics, hacking, intell, or skill being factors.Mooncalf wrote: There was going to be some form of enhanced door security coded eventually, which would slow humans down unless they could crack the lock.

But the question of ..how can vampires break and enter then... since obviously they havent been invited, has always bothered me.
Vampires with powerss, univited guest, can break in... but how do others? According to cannon...they should not be able to.
Yet humans with no powers ... can waltz in?
That has never made sense to me.

Vampires only have to be invited into personal, private properties such as homes or apartments, and they have to be invited in by the owner of that property.
Public properties and those owned by businesses don't require an invite.

Warehouses are not public. Warehouses are private businesses that hold private inventories.
The average person is not welcome to come in nose about at will and that would carry over to a vampire.
It is a business. But that Business is only open to the client that pays for the service.
A retail establishment, yes there is implied invitations to all. But there are a lot of businesses are that are private and NOT open to the public. A person may try, but if they dont have 'business' or an appointment, they are turned away. Yet.. a Vampire can get it easily, no problem. Thus why it never made sense to me.
The other side of the coin, is that everyone locks their homes now. There was a time when people did not. But that time is gone. So how can the average human with 1 in stealing.. be able to pass easily through a locked door into a private abode.
It really makes no sense to me personally. I have always pass it off as a grid mechanic only, because it doesn't fit how we do things in RL now.

Agreed.
The only problem with you passing it off as a grid mechanic is that Joe Blogs, who has broken into your business on grid, might not agree with you. So technically Joe Blogs can write about breaking into Doc's place of work with no effort whatsoever. What if you can't get Joe to be reasonable? And if there are no real rules saying Joe can't do what he is doing, then you're stuck with a shitty situation.
Not that I like the whole "Vampire can only enter when invited" thing. I like far too much science and logic in my fantasies to be able to wrap my head comfortably around that one.

In the case of vampire lore, commercial buildings fall under the umbrella of public buildings. Commercial buildings include retail stores, office buildings, warehouses, and locations which are not used by someone as their home. Private locations are really just residences, specifically places that people live or have bought to live in.
I think the issue here is that the term 'private property' along with 'public property', 'collective/cooperative property' and 'personal property' are all legally defined items. The mystical forces that underpin vampire lore are not driven by those legal terms, so they aren't going to apply exactly the way a modern person might think.
