Re: Stealing from NPCs
Its`original purpose was to be used on other players; so no doubt the T2 will eventually become something more relevant later on down the line

So, in other words, Phantom Thief V2 is a waste of PXP.

Naw. It's 2 less anima a day to turn that feature on and well worth it if you hunt in the right places. ;) Depends on how much thieving you guy will be doing and how much pxp... in the case where it is max pxp cost it's skipable for sure but if it's not an issue it's a great power to use daily. The npc thing isn't that bad either, so long as you stick to the ones you know have payouts. I seldom do but I'll be trying it on thieves as I thought they were unrobbable.

Re: Stealing from NPCs
With all due respect, you get to steal from 2 NPCs and I don't think that equals to a quarter. Like, at all.
You pay double the PXP amount (so up to 45 PXP) to cut the anima usage from 6 to 4, and get to steal from two extra NPCs than you ordinarily would have been able to. That's it.
And as Becca pointed out earlier, the EXP factor hardly makes it worth your while to bother stealing in the first place. Add into the fact that what you can steal from the available NPCs is next to naught in value (at max a couple of hundred dollars), and where is the incentive to purchase this power?
For a power that describes itself as finally presenting the option to use that $ button on NPCs, it falls drastically short of expectations. It's false marketing in the very least.
And we can present the argument that "a lot of v2 powers are like that" in defence, but it doesn't make them right either. Honestly, a lot of the v2 powers that do little more than provide a discount of 1 to 2 anima to use are - in my opinion - are a total waste of PXP. But in this case it's made worse by the fact that Phantom Thief v2 promises to let you steal from NPCs on the grid when it actually lets you steal from 2 out of a possible 50.
I draw issue because it's an issue of customer satisfaction. If I bought a 42" 4K television from a store and went home and found out that it actually gives me nothing more of value that a HD television set could provide, and because this new 4K TV is marketed as an upgrade on HD, then I would be VERY disappointed.
Sales such as these ultimately result in poor consumer feedback and if you get enough of that, you risk your business entirely. And you can get a few people in to tell your unhappy customers that they're just idiots for not understanding the complexities of your unclear marketing campaign, but you won't expect those customers to shift their mood.

^^^^ That is precisely why I never bothered. It was seemed like a waste power to me for my character.Levi DAmico wrote:With all due respect, you get to steal from 2 NPCs and I don't think that equals to a quarter. Like, at all.

Saving 2 anima, for 15 pxp, on my character who isn't a thief.. it was eh.. no point.
However, for those who are built to thieve and that is their primary purpose, and it is their main path.. yes I can see wanting to save that anima.
But the robbing of NPC's.. the only ones I found that you can rob (and bear in mind I dont have a thief character) are the gangsters, enforcers and the like). IF you are looking for diamond teeth, or silk hankys.. would be worth having that power I might think. As the diamond teeth are difficult to buy on auction. You pretty much have to hunt them down yourself.

Re: Stealing from NPCs
you have the ability to steal from ALL npc's, Also the ability to steal with 100% success from ALL npc's. If you dont get anything, it is because they have nothing in their pockets, just like stealing from a pc with nothing "You stole $0 from ****" if they have nothing, no matter how good you are, you cant get anything.Myk wrote: .........
Considering how the power cost Myk, a Telepath, 90 PXP. I want a sodding refund or the ability to steal from ALL NPCs because that's outrageous.

Re: Stealing from NPCs
But you do get 'fail to steal' grid messages, not just a zero amount, with the Thieves at least. Just tried today.
eta and after death the thief's pockets proved to not be so empty, they paid out a few hundred bucks.
