(Side Story: Exposed! ) Feel the Wind in your Fangs!! (open)

Post by Enzo Dragomir »

He sat brooding in the back of the Rolls, his thoughts dark enough to give a dangerous glint to his reptilian slitted gaze. There was no one to see the rare sight of dark emotion flitting across the Allurists face, he was alone behind the pane of glass separating him and Bertram his manservant. Looking without really seeing out of the darkened window, the night scenes of Harper's Rock glided past like a used up whore. Dirty even in the dark. Contagious, damning, and no escaping unto death.

The former playboy had just landed, back from the UK. London to be exact. He felt the pit of his stomach clench once more as his thoughts shuttled him recklessly toward dangerous waters, murky and shadowed with what had amounted to acts that would have shattered the psyche of lesser men... if he were to be honest, it had almost shattered him, shaken him to the point he was barely holding onto the reigns of his rage and murderous vengeance.

Closing his eyes, he left his head to rest back against the cars cushioning and took several deep breaths to gather himself back. He would not dwell. He didn't have that kind of luxury... he almost felt envious of the street scum of his kind that had only to run around slaughtering others and whining at the unfairness of their lot. How he would have laughed at himself just a few nights ago for even entertaining such an emotion. Now? He could only imagine the freedom such sloth and downright low IQ of it all bought the rejects with a hint of longing.

It was those very rejects who had put him on the plane to London in the first place. Tearing down the masque, the veil that had kept his kind hidden and free to move about at pleasure. The Dragons fists clenched on his thighs as he slowly opened his lizard grays once more. It had not been a fruitless journey after all... if he put the other from his thoughts... he would get back to that, oh yes. In bloody vengeance stamped spades. For now he must move forward with the more immediate problems. Human acceptance.

He knew that it would not be easy, not with the religious right wing wack jobs who believed it was still fine to marry your first cousin at the ripe age of 13... the voting majority. **** knew the hippy crew hadn't been able to find their way to the voting booths this go around, too lost with their heads up their asses sighing with awe at the wonder of the workings of their bowels. He needed those bastards. They were who would toss the damn flowers at their twilight daydreams and romantic fangmares. Equal Rights. It was a call that Lorenzo Dragomir would milk like a prized cow. Vampires were just like you morons... in fact, one could even say vampires never did more to change from human than manage to find a vein to sustain them. Look at them. Mewling and scurrying around just like their mortal counterparts. Bitching and fighting and 'conversing' forever without doing a damned thing.

Everyone had known there were those of their kind actively seeking to drop the masque from the world. What had they done about it? Talked and stabbed each other with pointy things and then come back from the fade to do it again. Thank **** whatever Vampire Gods there might be that he was found by Nikolae. Thank **** he had just shook his head at the pageant of stupid and let the parade go on without him as he built Dragonal. Marketing, Public Relations were the answer to their plight. You could hold a million press conferences of vampires looping jewels and scholarships around needy snot nosed human brats and it would do nothing.

So he had devoted himself to the Ad campaign of a lifetime. A spokesperson, beautiful, human looking, soft, small, vulnerable at every angle, she was the angel they needed and he was going to exploit the **** out of it. After shooting her first commercials and made for television mini-series, he was going to sic the paparazzi on her like hounds after a fox. From TMZ to the batboy loving Enquirer. And they would eat it up faster than Beyonce could photoshop a thigh gap.

He already thralled a key Alderman to help pass the first measures. His ***** was one hell of a well-placed pawn. He had subtly influenced liberal chains to lay down with the pretty of it all, several products willing to sell to the vampiric market, from cars to fangpaste. It was nauseating really, but it would further humanize his kind. How monstrous could they be when the average Joe was watching his sports dotted with 'Feel the wind in your Fangs' commercials? And then there were to be the documentaries of the opposite side of the glam fest. His face of the Blood Dolls. The love for his kind spilling out with such class and sophistication as the little prick managed to prance his famous *** down yet another cat walk in New York sporting fang marks.

Let us bite you, we'll make you famous.

Damn he couldn't wait to get back to Mortll. It had been hell without her. Especially when he had to deal with his father's death... no. No, he wasn't going there right now, he'd already pushed those thoughts down.

Just as he felt as if he were going to punch the **** out of the passenger window, Bertram's regal voice broke through to let him know that they were home and there indeed was Mortll's car.

The last thing he remembered before grabbing his fiance to him like he was dying was the slam of his own car door and the soft sounds of a fist against the inside of his Rolls trunk as his prisoner finally came out of his drugged stupor.

Mortll grabbed the bottle of Arbor Vitae from the fridge and plopped it into a bucket of warm water. It had been a couple of weeks with no word at all from Enzo . She had known he was headed to Europe and had pretty much laid out his plans . They had talked when he was available it had been a tight schedule but in the last 2 weeks all communication had dried up all she was getting was brief messages ... she had the distinct feeling something had happened . She could probably test her powers see if her abilities were sharp enough to reach around the world and read his memories. Delve into his mind across the oceans but she wouldn't she knew he was alive. Everything else would come when he was ready to tell her or able to.

She had gotten a text that he was on his way home . It was nothing more than that just a text. It was unlike him to be so short on words with her. She sat there and poured herself a glass of blood watching the warmed thick liquid as it stained the inside of the wine glass. She took a sip and licked the traces of it from her lips as the door opened and in three quick steps Enzo was across the room and had her in a crushing embrace before she could even get the word hello from her lips. Lips that found his as her hands returned the embrace. She inhaled his scent it going to her senses just as his troubled aura assaulted them . "Your home now ... Tell me what happened ?"

Dust motes floated lazily in the dim room, highlighted by the soft rays of the moon soaking the floor in silver. Shadows cast over the grim stone of the walls as if swaying to the far off tones of monkish chanting. The song dipped into deep tenors, flirting with bass before rising again into sopranos that could only be obtained by the Castratos.

The moonlight was broken suddenly, followed by the sound of leather soles scraping against slate slabs of floor. Hollow sounds interspersed with heavier thuds, obvious hollows in grids beneath the stone marking the final homes of past clerics and church officials. The robes of the interloper swept like so much regal finery against prayer benches, passing the kneeling and silent vigilant. Bare backs gleamed in creases of black ichor, and as the chanting began once more, the haunting melody was met with rhythmic sounds of flesh being parted by leather.

He breathed in the scent of blood, the smell familiar and comforting, human and rich with copper... much as the Messiah must have scented as he sacrificed all for a world that couldn't be grateful past a millenium, when He had promised forever. Dark eyes, the blue of a storm swept ocean, and just as deep, raised to view the heavy cross of wood and life-size image of the Christ as He forever wept for their sins. Genuflecting, the man kneeled, his raiments flowing out as if by design to lay perfectly settled on the ground around him.

The troubled depths of blue narrowed as he tuned the sounds of self torture out, elegant fingers steepling under his chin, well tapered and testament to years of breeding and aristocracy. As his dark hair swept against a chiseled, high cheek, his eyes closed and full lips parted to begin the chant that matched the sounds from deeper within the old and forgotten monastery. It did not take long for the handsome Spaniard to lose himself in the prayer song, and as that time was lost his concentration re-centered until the previously unnoticed swords hanging at his sides just beneath his robes began to softly glow. Warmth shot up his sides as the twin blades, hand made of the finest Spanish steel, older than even this place, began to take the magics he spun just for them.

Perfectly timed, just as the metal of the exquisite weapons became almost too hot against his flesh, the chants crescendoed and abruptly stopped. The sounds of self mutilation and the glow of blessing ceased as if all were linked together....

Thanking the Saviour in quiet and beautifully articulated High Spanish, Ignacio stood in one fluid move, genuflecting again before bowing deeply from the waist toward the altar before him. Candles began to be lit behind the small mass as monks tasked with the upkeep of their superiours lit the tapers that would guide their movements through the night. The holy grounds were not marred by such frivolities as electricity or running water, all necessary 'comforts' were gained by hard work and human hands. Turning fully the Spaniard swung his robes open to allow the gleam of chest plate fashioned around a cross recovered from the Holy War, Templar made and Pope blessed... beautiful in its simplicity and passed down from General to General through the generations. Ignacio was the 137th General to serve the secret army of the Vatican, Templar and Crusader, Human and not Human... Paladin, and known only to the Popes and select Cardinals of the holy Church.

Templars had not been wiped from the earth, merely ... relocated... as the rumours of fanged nightmares had proven to be true so long ago. The church had thought them long gone, killed to a last beastly scream back unto Hell, duty done, well met, they had turned their attentions back unto witches and the strange alien creatures known as Fae.

It seemed they had been too quick to congratulate themselves, a sin unto itself and Ignacio was here to atone.

A sacrifice had been made... one of his own had been taken and was surely to be meeting God within the week... a good man, one sorely missed from Ignacios legion, but willing to be the pawn that drove out the higher placed pieces. It had to be a Paladin of strength or the trap would never have worked.

Frowning as he swept to the exit, the Spaniards fists clenched and then relaxed as he nodded to the priest entering the sanctuary. He cared little for the nightly goings on in the monastery, but he did nothing to disrupt it or harm the sanctity carried on within the stone walls. All he cared for was the chance he'd been given to prove to both God and Church that he, Ignacio de la Cruz, was worthy the title bestowed upon him...

And to finally see in the flesh the small female Dragon that had killed his brother.

"Cara..." he whispered against his fists, wrapped in her hair, great lengths of ink, soft as the finest silks brushed his lips as he drank in everything about her, loving her all the more for the hardness delicately embraced by the velvet of her exteriour. He could never be moved by a woman that did not have the spine to match his own and there were nights he truly believed she surpassed even his roguish courage.

She'd had to be such.

She'd never have to stand alone again.

Taking in one last breath of her, he gently kissed her brow before resting his own against it, looking into her steady gaze as her question made him smile despite his mood. Of course she would know he was troubled. He knew he could just open his mind for her, but he enjoyed the small pleasure of hearing her accented voice mingle with his in conversation, so he gave her both. Opening himself mentally as he pulled a chair beside her and took it without releasing the strand of hair he had twined around his finger.

"The campaign went well. Everything is going to plan." it was then his brows creased in troubled thought once more, the Dragon coming to surface as his pupils dilated into full reptilian slits and he found himself almost unable to go on. He knew she wouldn't press him, would let him speak in his own time, so his lips twisted into a grateful half smile as he fought to put into words the anguish his chest housed.

"I... ran into my father in London..." it was an innocuous enough beginning, but Mortll knew his relationship was winter storms and silence when it came to his father. Looking over her head for a moment he let the soft wave of her hair slip past his index finger before reaching to pour himself a glass of vitae.

"He was in ill health... cancer." how difficult to imagine his larger than life father laid low by so common a disease that had been plaguing the world forever and still no closer to cure. Enzo had always been sure his father woud meet his end in some war, under a machine of destruction brought to fight against the war toys and soldiers August Vaugn sold to the highest bidder.

Silence mounted further as he lost himself in the scent of her and the ruby depths of his wine glass. It still seemed too soon, to fresh, raw to be true, but he carried the ring taken from his fathers index finger in his suit pocket. Heavy and real it was an albatross that weighted him down, all of his failings as a son rather real or imagined as his fathers scowling face and silence played in the depths of his mind.

"I embraced him." he dragged his gaze back to hers, desperate now to get the tale out "He met with me... begged me for an audience when at first I told him I had no time..." Gods what an *** he was, so eager to show August he didn't need anything from him...

"We... worked out some of our grievances... and then he told me he was ill." yes that had been the highlight of his trip, he thought to himself with his usual vitriol and sarcasm. "A few nights later I decided to make him one of us... ironic, Siring my Sire..." his laugh was cold and aimed more at himself than any amusement, but the Dragon was never one to lie about himself, let alone to himself. "He was killed a few hours later by a Paladin... I don't even know how he had found us, or why... but I spent two weeks hunting him back down..."

Gesturing in the general direction of the door to the garage, he let her know with that one move who was in the trunk of his car so closely guarded by Bertram...

"I need you Mortll... if I do this alone... I am afraid I won't come back unbroken..."

His gray gaze honed once more on hers and he let her feel the desperate anger and loss, let her feel the pain, and know it was only the love holding him together so he would not disappoint her with his need to barbarism. His need to rend and tear his vengeance and **** the answers they needed.

"I need you.'

She listened as the timber of his voice changed as he told her what had happened. Mortll knew all to well the type of pain he was going through. She had suffered many of the same type of losses. She knew the pain he was feeling. She knew it could eat him alive if he let it. After time the repeated losses had made her numb To such pain she had grown accustomed to it. She expected it. It wasn't that she didn't care or didn't feel for his loss his pain but she could no longer bring herself to feel that acute sense of loss for herself. She cared that he had lost his father but the sense of sorrow was not present at all. She pulled him close and her forehead touched his. "I'm here for you whatever you need

Her Kitchen had been quiet for awhile no damned soul had entered its recesses to dwindle and beg for what hapless little life they had. She had found her sadistic needs seemed to waiver when Enzo was around. She never caused pain for no good reason ... Her urges were always satisfied when she caused pain for a good reason. "So you have this man that killed your father ? I think we can accommodate him for awhile or however long you need darling. I can show you a few things if you wish to keep him alive while you make him realize what a mistake he has made "

Rowan bit her lip as she looked out across the emptying room of the Black Fox. The night being almost over, she and the rest of her team were getting ready to close up, already cleaning up spaces here and there as patrons left for the night. It had been a while since she had started working in the place, another one of those strange circumstances that she didn’t really understand when it came to her life. Even the events leading to her being turned into a vampire were sketchy, being a series of several encounters with the utter gentleman her Sire was before the actual turning itself. She had always had this burning need to belong, even if she had known all her life that she didn’t have a place. Not like how others did, having families and safe, secure houses. Rowan had never had that, being one of those children that somehow fall through the cracks in the system. Hence, trust didn’t come easily to her. Maybe that was why circumstances had made it that she had bumped into Enzo several times prior to his granting her immortality. It still felt strange… being part of a new family, being looked out for… being loved. Sometimes she thought it was all a dream, usually during the dark times she woke up, disoriented at where she was before she opened her eyes and saw the room she had been given to stay in. To live in.

Shaking off her thoughts, she glanced at the time on her old watch. ‘It wouldn’t hurt to send him a message, would it?’ Her fingers had gripped her new phone almost before she could finish talking herself into texting her sire.

-Hope I am not bothering you, Papa.-

The words formed on the screen as if drawn from her mind and through her fingers on the screen. ‘Papa’ was not a word she thought she would ever call anyone, despite how she had desperately wanted a male authority figure in her life who wouldn’t take advantage of her trust. Time had proven that Enzo was not like the sleaze of humanity she had served and lived with for so long just trying survive. Enzo was kind enough not to scold her or turn her away when she had started calling him Papa, affirming her loyalty and gratefulness to him through the only means she knew how. Family wasn’t something she had ever had before and Rowan was damned if she would let something so precious slip through her fingers.

-Hope I am not bothering you, Papa. Just wanted to check in with you… I know you are busy, but the Fox is ready to close for the day. I miss you and hope to see you soon. Stay safe, Papa.-

Hitting the send button on the text message, Rowan turned her attention to closing down. Vampire or not, she was still looking forward to getting a meal and some rest. She pasted a smile on her face and approached the last few lingering patrons to usher them out.

Tapered fingers wandered down Mortll's cheek, soft caresses against the high planes of her face. He didn't answer for a long moment, not because he didn't like her suggestion, but because he was overwhelmed for a moment by her willingness to help. He understood what it meant to be an Allurist, he understood the pros and cons of it all... it didn't make his emotions any easier to control. There were many times such as now where he wasn't sure he could go on living with so much turmoil inside of him. Every night was a new endeavor to keep control. To not give in and lose himself to the insanity that waited on the other side of those volcanic feelings and needs.

Finally with an inward sigh at having to break the contact, he dropped his hand and inclined his head. "A perfect solution Cara, we shall take him to dinner."

Just as he was about to stand and lead the way back to the waiting Rolls, pulling his phone out of his suit pocket, it vibrated alerting him to an incoming text. Frowning he glanced down at it, no one knew he was home yet, done on purpose to give him the time he needed with his captive. He almost hit the button to send it to view later, when he read who it was on the other end. Rowan, his youngest childe, and one could say with certainty, a well done addition to Dragomir. She was beautiful, loyal and full of fight even if she hadn't discovered it yet.

A hint of a smile touched his lips as he raised the cellphone to answer her text with one of his own.

~ It is good that you contacted me my sweet, I am home from London. Meet Mortll and I at the condo. Let yourself in, I have an errand to run.~

Hitting send, he furrowed his brow and looked to Mortll again and decided to add one more text.

~I missed you little one~

Hitting send once more he again stared at his cellphone before swiping through it until he hit his brothers number. His text was quick but with no less feeling as he texted Azraeth.

~Az, I'm home from London... have much to tell you.~

Pocketing his cellphone once more, he slid his suit jacket closed and rebuttoned it, finding comfort in the dressing. He knew that his captive was not the initiator of his fathers death. It was not random, and felt like a well rehearsed waltz... one he needed to take the lead in.

"Shall we Cara? I am feeling more in control." Kissing her softly just at the corner of her mouth, just where it lifted when she gifted him with the smiles he loved he then straightened and walked toward the door.

"The text was from Rowan, she is on her way here and I told her to let herself in until we return." Holding the door open for the Dragoness, he waited until she had cleared and then nodded to Bertram... the Allurist would get the answers he needed. It was only a matter of time...

and blood... gallons of blood...

Crisp, clean moonlight spilled over the long stretch of drive leading from the monastery creating an elegant feel to the austere view. Forest on either side cast dark shadows that cut through the light like so many gnarled fingers grasping for any illumination they could find. A darkness bore down in those trees, haunting and palpable in the eerie way it made the back of your neck feel as you passed. As if you were being studied... judged...

Automobiles were not allowed past the entrance gates, made to park at the beginning of the drive so as not to disturb the otherworldly feel of the community. One had a choice of either walking the several mile lane through the woods, or riding one of the various horses used to tend the acres of property. One could go so far as to say it was much like stepping into a tale spun from the Grimms, dark and foreboding, filled with terrible things that would either change you forever or leave you dead.

As it was so, the soft clop of hooves was the only thing that stirred against aging bark and already crisping leaves. Autumn should have been beautiful here in Canada, but in this place perhaps only the daylight swept the silver monstrousness of it away. He rode the largest of the stable get, a white mount of questionable temperament. He took a certain bit of pride from the fact he had mastered the horse easily enough and now used it whenever he had reason to repent or send message to his masters.

The Spaniard lifted his head toward the moon as it crested over swaying branches, gauging his distance to his car, brothers in dark hoods waiting to take the horse back upon the morn. Slowly his gaze drifted into the forest itself, a soft questioning look passed the dark blue depths as he wondered if those ethereal yet horrible beings called Fae were close at hand. It would not be surprising really, he felt the air fairly crackling with energy and magic... his hunters instincts in full awareness... but he did not hunt the Sidhe tonight. He had other monsters to deal with.

As the thought crossed his mind he pulled out a small piece of technology from his pocket. His arms strained against the kevlar vest he wore, the garment taking the place of his chest plate, though the cross from one was positioned upon the more modern form of armor. The Red Templar paid no mind as his body was used to the feel, and quick dexterous fingers switched on the guide, waiting for it to spring to life. It did not take long and soon enough a small lit dot showed on the screen, blinking as it slowly moved across a digital map.

He'd had his bait implanted with a tracking device before sending him out to kill the devil spawn, deep within the Paladins back, well hidden even should he face dismemberment. The thought caused him a pause of sorrow for his brother, and then the sign of the cross was made in genuflection as he silently thanked Lord for so willing a servant. Such courage was gifted from the saints themselves for few men bore it to the extent brother Samuel exhibited.

He would be sore missed.

Reaching the final bend of his treck, he spied the waiting gates that slowly were opening at his approach. A faceless monk nodded to him as he took the reigns from his gloved fist and he dismounted with a graceful leap. "Peace be to you brother" Ignacio said softly though he would get no response of 'As with you.' from the Benedictine. The Templar had long ago become used to the vows of the pious and did not dwell upon the matter. He had been raised first as an orphan by nuns on the Spanish coast, and later as he exhibited talents and devotion the church found worthy, by the Vatican itself. He had knelt at two Popes feet, each one knowing his kind must be kept secret, must be kept honed.

He had spent many years hunting the witches of the world, though now they called themselves "Sorcerers" and he had also spent much time studying the world of Sidhe and the elementals that had for centuries tormented humankind. Some said there were Fae that doted upon humans... he had found no such evidence in all his travels. It would make little difference to him in the end as he had his orders from far higher than spirits and shades.

Getting into his car, he pushed the ignition and set the tracking device upon a mount on the dash, pressing a few buttons to hone in as he moved at a now faster pace. As he drove into the heart of Harper's Rock he once more wished there was some way to save his friend, comrade... but he knew he could not show his hand too soon... he had steps he must take now that the vampire menace was viewable by the world... and he would take those steps carefully... perfectly...

How do you fail God?

You don't.

The soft blipping sound became quicker and Ignacio looked up at the building it was coming from. It didn't shock him it was a high rise of absolute luxury. The Devil did enjoy his riches. With a slight shake of his head he pulled his car into a payable parking lot across the way, taking the ticket from the vending machine as the gate lifted. Now it was time to observe. Now it was time to be patient.

Nothing good came easily.

The flight from Brazil was between sixteen and seventeen hours, which was just fine by Azraeth. He'd splurged, and spent some of his personal funds to hire a private jet. Normally frugal, the expense had seemed excessive at first, but the only other option was to travel by ship, which would have taken forever, or to hold himself up in an aircraft's cargo like some sort of pet. The Olympic games had been enjoyable. Traveling with Diego had been more enjoyable. Meeting Diego's family had just been amusing, though the vampire partially felt Diego himself didn't exactly harbor the same feeling. Regardless. Azraeth had met the man's extremely extended family during his vacation to Rio. Did that mean reciprocation was necessary? He supposed it was, and yet the Mystic worried how Nikolae and Enzo specifically would respond to the vampire's ongoing relationship with a human. Secrecy was dead. There was no reason he couldn't show Diego off, but Az's sire tended to be possessive, and Enzo tended to be conservative.

But it had been months. Literal months.

Az had met Diego back in March. He had kept things very low key, because that was just who he was. He didn't make a big deal about his personal affairs. He didn't talk about his relationships. In fact, Azraeth rarely made a big deal about his personal life at all. Barriers. Walls. People had to peel away the layers slowly to see everything his hands touched. None the less, there were certain expectations, weren't there? He'd never been good at the whole romance thing. Blame his faltering confidence prior to having been a vampire. Blame his lack of experience in dating. Blame his first meaningful relationship having been with his best friend, while the pair of them got high and fondled each other. So that was it then, wasn't it? Ball was in his court.

The vampire pondered what to do as he unpacked his bag onto his bed. He felt his phone vibrate against his hip and drew the device, his gaze locking on the screen for a moment. He was only just back and already things were happening. Not that he was surprised. The fall of vampiric secrecy had happened just shortly before his vacation. He'd left his number with everyone who needed to be in regular contact with him. He was actually surprised nothing had exploded while he was away. Literally. No nuked dropped on Harper Rock. No massive human rebellion. It seemed that people were actually trying to feel out what was going on with the blood suckers. It was...something at least. Though the time to act and make something good happen was on them. If they waited too long, they would end up losing the chance to sway the hearts and minds of billions.

And Az was back. Which meant it was time to handle business.

Be there shortly. Just got back from Brazil. Have a few things to tell you as well. He texted his brother back, before deciding to change out of the clothes he'd worn on the flight and into something more comfortable. His tongue clicked. Enzo hadn't said where he was, and Az was impatient to see the man. In many ways, Enzo had essentially replaced the bond Raeth had once shared with Azariel. He was one half of a twin pair. He couldn't help himself. He was used to having a sibling to share his world with, so after Ariel's prolonged absence. Well. It wasn't surprising Enzo had all but replaced the man. And Az had missed him. So he lifted his thumb to his mouth so he could sink his fang into it. Blood welled in a couple of droplets which cascaded towards the middle of his palm. "Take me to one like you." He whispered to the cupped source of his power. And as he gazed into that tiny gleaming pool, before it absorbed back into his skin, he saw Enzo's surroundings.

"Oh." And then, without a second thought, he was there. "Enzo, Mortll." He greeted, hands lifting so he could adjust his bow tie.

The last patron finally outside the door, Rowan shook her head, the smile falling from her face as the need to pretend fell away. It had been a long night but thankfully those coming to the Black Fox were much more civilized than the old crowds she had seen in various pubs and bars. She made her way back to the bar and frowned at finding the drawer she had placed her phone in disturbed. Opening it fully, she picked up the slim device, automatically going through the motions to open the screen. One of the women working with her drifted close, the exhaustion on her face fading as she saw Rowan holding her phone.

“Oh! Is that your boyfriend, Rowan? Are you getting laid today?”
the nosy woman teased, obviously going after some bit of gossip about the other girl. Wrinkling her nose, Rowan made an exasperated noise as she swiped to get to her messages. Her face lit up as she saw there were two from her Sire.

“Gross, Jessica. It's none of your business who I talk to,” she said firmly to the girl, reading the first message she had been sent. A real smile danced across her lips as she realized her Papa was home from his trip to London. Opening the second, the smile turned into a grin. Emotions raced through her and if she were human, they would have taken her breath away with their intensity. As it was, the maelstrom that was her feelings was often felt too keenly since she had been turned into a vampire. It was something her sire had explained to her, that not all vampires were as cold and soul less as the masses thought they were, lacking feelings and anything above a base desire. Not that she had told anyone she was acquainted with that she was one of the undead, despite the recent hype and discussions about vampire kind.

-I’m glad you’re home, Papa. Regards to Mortll. Looking forward to seeing you at the condo later!- She sent the text and slipped her phone into her pocket, allowing herself the distraction now that work was over. Turning to Jessica, she almost rolled her eyes at the woman’s countenance, practically rabid with the desire to gossip.

“Not that it was any of your business, Jessica, but that was my Papa.”
Her eyes swept around the whiskey and cigar lounge that was the Black Fox, noticing that cleanup was almost done. “I’m going to go ahead, alright?” Jessica shrugged and picked up a drink tray that was on the counter.

“You’re usually the last one out so I don’t think you leaving early one time is going to make a difference. Besides, everything is mostly cleaned up already. I think it’s really only lock up that’s left so I don’t think the others will mind. See you later then?” Rowan nodded to her, a pleasant smile still on her face, and watched the other girl walk away to bug one of the other women. Tidying up the area, she swiped a rag over the top of the bar and then tucked it away properly. Casting an eye over the counter, she nodded to herself, satisfied with the cleanliness, and made her way to the back room where she and the other employees stored their things during their work shifts. Untying the apron she had put on over her lower body to keep anything from staining her pants, she shook it out and folded it neatly before placing it on the bench. If anyone else had seen the room, they would have said that it looked like a high school locker room, only cleaner. Opening her own locker, Rowan pulled out her small backpack that she had stored in there at the start of her shift and replaced the folded apron into the empty space. Closing her locker, a smirk danced on her face. It wasn’t like she had to share the back room with the other employees. But it was easier to know what was going on when people thought you were insignificant. After being insignificant all her life, she knew that people tended to stop putting up their masks if they felt superior. Swiping up her bag, she threw it over her shoulder and made her way to the parking lot where she had parked her car earlier. A gift to welcome her to the family, it was one of her precious things and she took care of it almost obsessively. Unlocking it deftly and sliding in, she dumped her bag into the passenger seat before digging into the depths of the bag.

“Aha!” she exclaimed, finally fishing out her contacts case and brandishing it childishly. Removing the contacts that hid her dragon slit eyes, Rowan grinned to herself and peeled out of the parking lot, heading towards the condo. It had been a while since she’d seen both Enzo and Mortll so she was excited.

Maneuvering the streets with ease, she couldn’t help but think it was the perfect ending to her day.
