I really think you misunderstood what it was I was saying and I apologise for that as I wasn't dismissing anything you had to say. Unfortunately, I have a habit of not communicating very well. v.v
I'm not entirely sure how to reiterate what I meant as obviously I thought my original attempt portrayed it very well. So, please allow me to try again.
I'm not saying you should take your idea and shove it, because I wouldn't say something like that. As you highlighted, it's rather counter-intuitive of my goals. I simply mean that I would rather have one thread focused on pro-masquerade and one thread focused on anti-masquerade because I think it would make it clearer as to whom was on each side.
Yes, of course both teams (players) need to work together if it turns out that the end goal is to have one side vs other side, but I just figured it would make sense, seeing as how this thread is titled Decrease the City Alert, that we could continue to discuss the pro matters here and form another thread for the anti?
Again, unfortunately, my inability to communicate in the first instant caused this confusion and I do apologise for that. The reason I said "or if we even think that anything could be done at this point" was merely a reflection of my insecurities. As Alexandrea-player said, it's probably too little, too late at this point, but I'm nothing if not fatally optimistic...
But maybe I'm thinking about this the wrong way anyway, and we shouldn't split up the discussion? While I originally intended it to be a narrowly focused point of repairing/decreasing the city alert, maybe I was short-sighted? Maybe this is a larger discussion that does include both sides of the debate, as it were.
Gah, I've gone and confused myself. If any of that made any sense, hurrah! If not, I guess I try again? >.<
At any rate, I am sorry for involuntarily making you feel like ****, dude. Not my intention.

Re: Impact Thread: Decrease the City Alert
I would personally love to see more impact threads in general.
In fact, almost any thread can be an impact thread as long as it does something that would affect the in-game world. This would be a very good way for pro-secrecy characters to take a chunk out of the city alert.
That being said, it will probably take more than one thread, on a grand scale, with several several participants and some sort of overarching, well communicated plot to work out in a substantial, meaningful manner.
One of the ways to make an impact thread more effective is to invite conflict IC. So giving the anti-secrecy people the opportunity to do something about the pro-secrecy activities and the pro-secrecy people being successful in spite of that would be really awesome.
Or it could go the other way.
The important thing is that a lot of people get involved, and that it create an interactive opportunity. This goes back to the politics discussion we had a few weeks back.
If there's the promise of an impact thread, I'll throw in one of my characters as one of the actors.

Re: Impact Thread: Decrease the City Alert
Definitely, even if, as you said, it would take several several threads to decrease the city alert, to me it's more accessible as an option to "let's murder violators" as in my eyes, that has never made any kind of sense as a way to reduce the city's awareness to the supernatural.Azraeth wrote:I would personally love to see more impact threads in general.
Yes, it works grid-wise and has been the "key" way for people to reduce the alert level, but to me, I can't understand how it works logically. It has always been my opinion that people should RP ways in which to make the city alert go down, even if that did mean killing violators AND writing it out because it would potentially increase the amount the alert went down.
Yes, exactly. That's why I kinda wanted to have a brainstorming session here, but ultimately, the goal is about decreasing the city alert. I'm not saying let's not consider/discuss those who would defy those efforts, but, I just meant that maybe we could discuss that later, or, some place else? Maybe I'm just narrow-minded and selfish, but I kinda want to focus on one thing at a time so my brain doesn't explode. You mean the Politics thread that seemed to go nowhere? >.<Azraeth wrote:The important thing is that a lot of people get involved, and that it create an interactive opportunity. This goes back to the politics discussion we had a few weeks back.

Honestly and frankly, there are points in time when I just want to throw my hands in the air, just ignore the larger RP community, focus on my characters and their tiny little bubbles of existence, and let you all ignore me as a lot of you seem to want to, but, that would be far too easy and did I not just say I am fatally optimistic?

Re: Impact Thread: Decrease the City Alert
The question then becomes: Who is interested in seeing the city alert level decrease? I know Chris has mentioned something to that effect in the past.
Are there others?
