He couldn't help but smile as she replied with her own ice-cream preferences, it helped lighten a mood that could quickly turn tense, and while it was a serious topic it wasn't something he wanted to dwell on or to become a point on contention between himself and this new acquaintance. The wait for the inevitable wasn't too long, seconds perhaps, but it felt like hours ticking by. She clearly took a moment to consider it, to remember when she had last seen him and her expression seemed to speak of a good time, or at least, not something cringeworthy.
He was staring into the amber liquid that remained in his glass, considering finishing it off in one large mouthful, unsure what to say in response, when she spoke again and saved him the trouble.
The question had him looking her way with a speculative raised brow, a sort of expression that questioned if she really had no idea what a guy like him could possibly be doing with Jameson Dade. Actuallly, on second thought, it could appear a strange situation. The rock star and the junkie, not unheard of, but Kaspar wasn't big on the drug lifestyle in fact other than the odd one too many beverages he lived a pretty clean life. If he paused long enough to consider it he himself began to question how it was the pair had ended up close. Jamie was fire, licking at his heels, threatening to burn everything up and he had been tempted to let it, he had wanted to burn everything down just because he could in his brief flirtation with morbidity over his loss of mortality. It was a passing feeling, and instead the two had settled into a domestic sort of situation with Indigo and Adley. He cared about them all, and it had been fun while it lasted but without Jamie things had grown tense. It wasn't his absence that caused it, but what was left behind in his wake.
Again he considered Dominique, wondering how much to share with her, and figuring it couldn't hurt to tell the truth. "That's a good question, he was a bit of a wild card. I suppose lover, is the best description of our situation. We didn't just ****, but it wasn't like he was my boyfriend... We sort of half lived together, with two others. We shared a kind of relationship, but it is just... It's more like a community I suppose, a supportive unit, who care about each other and meet needs." He grimaced, downing the last of his drink, nudging the glass to the bartop. "That sounds like a cult, doesn't it? Look, Jay and I were whatever. The other two have the hope, and a third mutual acquaintance believes he's gotten himself dead. Properly dead." The words left a bad taste in his mouth, one that all the whiskey in the world couldn't take away.
"Look, Jay disappearing or deciding he was bored and moving on wouldn't surprise me. He's the kind of guy who will burn down your house and try to look innocent while he stands there holding the matches. It was what I needed at the time, and I guess we were what he needed but forever wasn't on my mind. It's just that something about it feels wrong, it was sudden and he left his dog behind." It was the point that he clung to in his argument, Bucket. How many times had he had this same discussion? "Thanks... For seeing me." Slowly he moved to stand, figuring he should let the woman have her night back. "You're easy to talk to. Maybe too easy."

Re: Black Sheep, Come Home (Dominique)
Dominique expected to hear anything but what she heard. When Kaspar’s mouth opened it delivered nothing close to it in fact. As Kaspar explained how he knew Jameson she realized it was not about some guy trying to chase him down for negative reasons. Jameson was really missing? Wasn’t that what it was when the people a person lived with are asking if anyone has seen them because they had not?
The glass went to her lips while the rock star said he was not feeling slighted if Jameson found something else or decided he could do without what he obviously had. It was a common thing. Eternity had that vibe to it. When you are able to out live a galapagos tortoise you have a lot around you to sample and try out before it reaches its expiration date. What was the saying… why settle for just one? As the glass pulled away from her lips she pretty much mentally whacked herself in the back of her own head for such a thought. She was there sitting and still guilty of doing just that. There was hope and she was giving it a hell of an effort on working herself to the final gates of freedom.
As for Kaspar’s inquiry. She had no answers to truly offer. Dominique was given no notice as to Jameson’s whereabouts either. Not that she was entitled to any and hardly to the degree if she was as were those he seemingly up and left behind without word. Night Lords were tight but it was one of those things that didn’t require them to add to some resume who they slept with, went to when they left the doors and who sat at their dining tables. Maybe that should have been a thing now that she watched Kaspar. She knew all too well what it was like to wonder, to worry...to have no answers. It appeared the rock star was cool with it as he could be. He appeared as if he would be alright. Those that still held out hope were in for a long wait if it was anything close to what she could relate with.
“I don’t know where he is at the moment.” She felt like in this case honesty was the best policy. “And when and if I do know I hope you understand I need to speak with him first.” The glass in her hand settled on the flat surface of the bar. It was finally empty. “No, it doesn't sound like a cult.” She stood up freeing her body from the chair. “It sounds like a family...a home worth caring about and taking care of. It can’t be replaced so hold onto it.”
HOPE pulled his glass as well as her own pinning both between two fingers and placing them over the other side of the bar with a smooth stretch. The bottle was placed back where it would be available for the next patrons. Once that was accomplished she dropped back to her feet and slipped her hands in her front pockets and gave him a look over as her thoughts released her from places she no longer needed to beat herself up over. Wherever Jameson was hopefully it was of his own choosing and something he needed to do. If it wasn’t he wouldn’t have to wait terribly long.
“I will see what I can do.” She took in a committed breath and hoped she found the task far less difficult than hunting down a free spirit Russian who was never known to be in one spot more than six months. “And you aren’t too difficult to talk to by the way. In fact it is refreshing.”

Kaspar let her speak, though the urge to leave, to report back to those waiting that no, it was another dead end and maybe they should just stop looking. Stop trying. He was gone, for however long, for whatever reason and already things were moving on without him. They couldn't just dwell, just wait with baited breath for someone to return, that wasn't what they were about. It wasn't what HE was about. "I understand, Dom, and it makes me happy to hear it that you would do this. It makes me confident that you'll do the right thing, and that maybe you are someone to get to know better." He shrugged, giving her a raised brow that seemed to say if you wanna.
As she rose also he considered her comment, finally nodding. That's what the Hive was for him, at the end of the day, regardless of how their relationships changed he hoped they would keep that sense of community intact. It wouldn't be easy, with Adley more so than Indie, but he'd try. Kaspar bowed his head, lips finding her cheeks in a chaste kiss of farewell. "Yeah, family. It's important, right?" The man reached into his back pocket, pulling out a small black book and pen, on the front in gold it was printed with a saying "The Devil Is In The Details", Kas flipping open it open to a blank page and tearing it out. His number was scrawled across it beneath his name, the piece of paper folded up and slipped with nimble fingers into her front pocket by her hand, ensuring his own didn't linger too long.
"Just in case you didn't save it... If you want to talk some more, call me, ok? Look, I could always use more friends." He stressed the word, giving a cheeky lopsided grin, making it clear that his intentions weren't untoward. "Thanks again, gorgeous, i'll be seeing you around." The rock star gave her a wink, and a fond brush of hand to her shoulder, giving it a squeeze before he turned to depart. It had been a brief meeting, and he hadn't learned anything but somehow he felt a little bit of that weight lift from his shoulders.
It was someone else's concern now, too, maybe that meant he could let it slide. He'd come back or he wouldn't, Kaspar wasn't waiting around with HOPE, he was going to take a point at LESS and live his life.

Re: Black Sheep, Come Home (Dominique)
Dominique watched the black jeep leave the parking lot as she stepped out with the number Kaspar had passed her still in her hand. She looked down at it then back up. There was no trace of him left just as there would not be any of her soon enough. It was how it was supposed to be. Wasn’t it?
A glance around the nearly empty lot had her wondering if that was what Jay in fact did. Took off that easy for wherever freely. It was one of the first things a vampire learned in order to survive. Be unseen and unheard. It was with that thought that she folded up the number and tucked it her pocket next to her cell phone. As soon as she got home and removed the phone from her jacket she would enter the number in her saved contacts. The list was not long but he now had a place in there.
The shadow was known to be reclusive but perhaps Kaspar was right. Everyone needed someone to talk to. Someone to listen objectively who had their own life to balance out. A friend who didn’t have anything invested in jumping in and cleaning up the mess but maybe has the time to just be the one to listen while she described describe it. Dom had plenty. Past, present and future. It was decided then as she pulled the suicide door to the vintage Corvette backwards so she could climb in. Kaspar would get a future call and for many reasons when he did. Hopefully she would get one in turn as well.
