When did???

When did emailing people instead of pming people become a thing on the forums? I've gotten two messages in the last week, that I assumed were pm's, and so I logged into here because it said I had a message but low and behold I had no pm's on this account. So I went back to the message (thank goodness I didn't delete this one) that I assumed was a notification telling me that I had a pm on the forum and saw that nope, it was an actual email. When did this become a thing? I'm not comfortable with people having my email (if they're getting the email address) tbh, and so how can this be undone?

For those that have ever chosen to email my email account and never got a reply back, I honestly assumed it was a notification telling me I had a pm. Sorry. Please pm me instead?

I believe (I could be wrong), that the option to email someone doesn't give you their email. If you see at the bottom of your post, under the signature, you have 'online status', 'profile', 'PM' and 'email' listed there.

If someone clicks 'Email' it brings up a prompt page that lets them input the message.

However, actual contact info can only be seen by admins (I believe).

Okay, is there a way to get rid of that option, if anyone knows?
I actually feel really bad. I think I probably deleted a few emails over the past year or so, assuming it was saying, you have a pm ordeal and not an email.

I'd rather just get pm's so I know I'm not missing any possible messages.

User level:

Go to: User control panel > board preferences > Users can contact me by e-mail

Set to 'no'.

There are also admin level fixes, but David would have to approve those.

No problem! I sort of feel like this is a newer thing. I don't ever remember getting emails before this last year.
Then again, maybe it's always been a thing.
