Woes of a hacking noob

Charlie's in the infancy of her hacking (Hacking: 7 / Intelligence: 8 / Skill: 6) and has got a few programs under her name thus far. I've yet to fully wrap my head around the System Maps and Scripting (won't do the later for a while, I think), but I think I'm getting a hang of what every script can do for her.

I'm also assuming that her criminality rating is going up because of the successful hacks she's had, and I'm assuming that that criminality going up is what's now making it harder to hack past authentication and stealth programs.

My questions are though, having now acquired V1 for a handful (armour, commander, decrypt, delete, evaluate, mask, silence, stealth, transfer), i.) what should I focus on getting next? Virus V1? Mask or Stealth V4? ii.) And, once she levels up, should I favour Intelligence over Skill, or level them up equally? iii.) Is her criminality affecting her success-rate, and if so, should I focus on Armour and Silence?

forget v1, that is why getting hard to get past... get v4 minimum intel gives number of moves.. skill doesnt help hacking a lot, stamina gives more hackings per day so level faster, take intell and stamina to 20, then work on other stats if she is primarily a hacker. save your source codes up, and get a master hacker to make you a commander and mapper in v6. most will do it free if you have the codes, I do it free for anyone with enuff codes for me todo it in one day. if you have mapper or commander below v4, dont use, they restrict your moves. criminality goes up from getting caught with tracers not suiccessful hacks. if you cant afford a commander v4 to replace your v1, message me, i give them out all the time to new hackers.

I don't have any of the V4 -- yet. I can skip past v2 and buy v4 directly, aye? Or will I need the v2?

Hold onto the V1 programs after upgrading -- is that what you mean by "save your source codes up"?

I won't turn my nose up at anything free though, if the offer's still on the table. I'll drop you a line.

I'll have her steadily work her way into understanding the tiers of difficulty.
In the meantime, I give myself time to learn the specifics - I thought having armour and silence still covered her *** when she got locked out.
I believe she's met a master hacker --- so it's a matter of getting to the point where it's plausible IC to bring it up.

I have yet to find any source codes, but I'll keep an eye out for them. I'll learn a bit more about scripting as a whole, and then reach out again. I learn by trial and error, so I'm happy to test thing out myself and fail a handful of times, if only to then understand what people refer to when they talk about A or B. I've contacted you about the money.

I'm hunting down Source Codes for them - and doing not much else.


But! I have been lurking on wiki and have two new questions:

1.) Is Ring of Technomancy worth the investment?


2.) Pacify - will it help me get through raids, or only for regular business hacks?

I would assume so too. But what do you mean very long term? Is it not immediate? I mean, if it's a sure-fire investment as a stepping stone for higher yield right off the bat, then of course it makes sense to get it sooner rather than later... it's just a lot of capital to drop in one go. I'm not sure how it works aside from the wiki description (which isn't a lot to go by). I'd like to understand it a bit better before making the call.
