Raven’s gaze silently slipped over Ursula once more, making sure that she wasn’t about to leap up and attempt to kill her. The woman wouldn’t put it passed the stranger. It was better to overestimate rather than underestimate in most cases. Silence ruled over the woman as she chewed upon Jesse’s words. The man was right, it was just a job. However, she never put any stock into it. While the man offered her a job, she wasn’t sure if it was a double edged blade. Ever since her brush with death the first time, she saw each opportunity as a double edge blade. Turn your back and someone might just be ready with a blade, ready to stab you in the back. It was how she had survived so far upon the streets on her own. If she turned her back right then, would the woman name Ursula be ready with her sword ready to deliver a killing blow?
Slowly, she let out a breath. However, he was Clover’s lover, her other half. Whether he was the better half was left to be debated, but she felt some kind of trust towards Clovers, so that meant that she too would have to eventually trust the man before her sooner or later. Personally, she preferred that it happened later rather than sooner. The less that she felt, the less connections she made, the easier it would be for her to slip into the shadows and be mostly forgotten about. Finally, she angled her head before she nodded, ”I’ll think about it. Perhaps I’ll even stop by, but chances are, if I do stop by. It means yes.” She paused for a moment. What else was she supposed to say?
Conversation wasn’t really her strong suit. The woman was used to talking with her fists and normally got a response in the form of another fist. Slowly, her tongue trailed over her top teeth, mostly in thought and because the interaction was making her nervous. What was his motive to even bother offering her a job? He could have complimented and left it at that, but he offered her a job which was suspicious. Was he only doing this for Clover’s benefit? To show Clover that he was making an effort to reach out to her childe? Whatever it was, Raven figured that there had to be some hidden motive that she couldn’t see. At least not yet. Whatever it was, she had to be patient, perhaps he would show his true colours eventually. Or perhaps he was displaying them. For now, she was more or less content with the distant she was placing between the two. At least she could control the amount of complications that arose between them and that was all that matter.
Another final nod of her head was given, ”I’ll be off then. I have more people to drain and disembowel.” With that, she turned upon her heels and moved away from the two, placing more distance. Distance, it was what she needed right now. More so than perhaps even she realized. Emotions were not her strong suit and she preferred to remain distant to them, even though her never ending thirst brought out an anger that surprised even her. Perhaps taking him up on his offer wouldn’t be too bad, but she wasn’t about to say yes straight away. Even having some money in her pocket would be helpful as well. Money that came from a legitimate job. The woman could go back to cage fighting, but she was sure that it would raise too many flags, plus she wasn’t sure that she couldn’t restrain herself from biting down upon a neck or two in front of such a large crowd. Perhaps I may just drop by Serpentine, she thought to herself as she stepped through a fadeportal.
