Midnight Rider-(Thomas Darque, Eva)

Post by Lyonel »

The last of the weapons cases were bundled up and the bulk of what he anticipated taking was starting to register. Thankfully the plane he was proposing to ship all he had packed was owned by Wolfgang. There was no way in hell the cargo was going to pass through any public checkpoints without hours of paperwork and explanations. None of which he felt was a wise thing to be doing. What the sire had planned could be one simple job or more than likely a multitude of things that were farther from legal than most would be comfortable with. Whatever it was he would find out eventually. Business was just that but family was something entirely different. One he wouldn’t invest his trust in like he did the other.

All of that reminded the business minded killer that he needed to get Jolie’s ticket booked. He would rely on the others already in the offices to keep things afloat. Jolie was sort of a link to what was going on when the sun came up and he retreated. Daywalking was hardly what it was cracked up to be. Walking around with steam coming off his head was not moving under the radar by any means. Some had portals that linked to other locations but he was willing to bet New York would not be half as accommodating to the challenges that the vampire faced. So there it was decided. Jolie was going with.

It was like a snowball effect the more he thought about it. That meant another ticket would be secured as well while he purchased hers. It was going to be a difficult sell on the one it would be intended for but he had his hopes up. It was time to extend the offer of a promotion of sorts and to find out how much would be involved in transporting a car that the man would never part with. Make that three tickets because the one he was focusing on had a wife. He looked at the letterhead on a business envelope on his desk and a small internal grin formed.

While Lyonel waited for the call to be answered that was placed with the phone in his hand he settled back into the chair behind him. This was looking better in his head than it was on the computer screen in front of him. Several years ago it would have been far more simple packing one suitcase and jumping into a plane. Now he was responsible for so much more and he owed a lot of respect to those who had been around him since the beginning. The worst thing that could happen is he would be told no, which he would completely understand.

Still his fingers tapped on the keyboard and made the extra arrangements with high expectation. Wolfgang was certainly confident about it when he pulled out the tickets and set them out in front of them. Lyonel was not entirely sure that he would have the same luck. Jolie was a shoo-in. She didn’t need convincing. New York is a dream come true for her line of work. Was it fair to ask a business partner that he trusted more than his own judgement at times to pick up and relocate? He continued to let the call linger while waiting for an answer.

While he did he fired off a quick text to Eva letting her know he was going to ask Thomas to come with. He was pretty sure it wouldn’t surprise her at all. She was the one who wanted to take a massive tiger with that hated him with a passion. At least Thomas and Eva got along. Her ex and his best friend and business partner rolled into one. The lawn wars would just have to wait until they all commuted back. No problem except, perhaps, for the guy to finally answer his phone.
